Unable to change all management server resource pool membership to manual

SCOM2012R2
I follow the instruction in the article below trying to change the membership from automatic to manual for "all management servers resource pool", but the "manual membership" option is greyed (cannot be clicked).
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh230706.aspx
Do I have to use the powershell command to set it to manual?
Also, noticed there was an issue after a MS is removed from AMSRP in scom2012sp1. Is it still the case in scom2012r2?

Hi
Yes, you have to use PoSh to set the resource pool to manual (and also automatic), see this link here
http://www.systemcentercentral.com/automatic-and-manual-resource-pools-in-operations-manager-2012-scom-sysctr/
Then you have to update the RunAs accounts because they are targeted at the AMSRPT The data warehouse run-as accounts are configured by default to only distribute to the All Management Servers resource pool. There is no runtime method to distribute the account
to all management servers automatically. When the management server is removed from the All Management Servers resource pool the data warehouse account is no longer distributed to it, therefore any workflows requiring this account will fail and unload. The
failing and unloading of the workflows will cause the management server to become grayed out. Cheers, Stefan

  • Resource Pool Heartbeat Failure from All Management Server Resource Pool Watcher

    Hi,
In my environment, I add another SCOM 2012 R2 to existing management group. (old SCOM is 2012 R2 ->SCOM1)
We have one SMS provider in SCOM1, after added SCOM2 in the Event Viewer we have Event ID
21400. I googled and in the Administration tab for Notification Pool and AD Assignment Pool change the member ship form Automatic to Manual and remove SCOM2 from those, finally Error 21400 is resolved. But every hours in the active alerts shows
Resource Pool Heartbeat Failure from All Management Server Resource Pool Watcher.
    Another problem is :
in the active alerts select a critical or warning or information in the Alert Details shows in just SCOM2:
    This Page can’t be displayed
Make sure the web address is correct.
Look for the page with your search engine.
Refresh the page in a few minutes.
    thanks

    Hi,
Based on my research, when management
server running windows server 2008 operating system, we may experience Random
    Resource Pool
    Heartbeat Failures.
Did you add a new management server with windows
    server 2012 O.S?
Please also try to restart operation manager services related and check the result.
    Regards,
    Yan Li

  • Event id 20022: the entity all management server resource pool is not heartbeating after creating pools

    hello
I have created tow resource pools for our servers and now I see in event viewer the event ID 20022 for 3 default resource pools like this:
the entity "all management server resource pool" is not heartbeating
the entity "AD assignement resource pool" is not heartbeating
the entity "Notification resource pool" is not heartbeating
but for own 2 pools there is no event. also in SCOM console there is lots of active alerts about resource pool heartbeat failure.
what should I check or do?

    Hi,
From my point of view, this may be caused by insufficient resources - the management server getting overloaded or having connectivity issues to the database.
Here is an article for your reference regardign to the error, please go through it:
    http://operationsmanager2012.blogspot.ca/2012/12/all-management-servers-resource-pool.html
In addition, did you add your Management servers to those two resource pool? The below link is about how to create resource pool, hope this can be helpful:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh230706.aspx
And this link below is about Automatic and Manual Resource Pools in Operations Manager 2012:

    Hi,
I tried starting the server from the console as well as from command prompt. Here I am giving the command below.
    nohup ./startManagedWebLogic.sh bi_server1 t3://machineIP:portNo > bis1_startup.log &
But each time I got the same exception.
    Korandla

try starting managed server with startManagedWebLogic.cmd WC_Spaces without adding any parameter, I know this works in linux with startManagedWebLogic.sh WC_Spaces

  • Unable to deploy to managed server - ExceptionInInitializerError

I have a development/integration environment that lives on a single HP-UX server: two Weblogic domains, each containign an admin server and several managed servers. The machine is running a node manager process, and the node manager plus all servers are started via a WLST Python script (as recommended in the documentation).
I have a seriously annoying issue whereby I cannot deploy any application, or data source, to a managed server unless that server is shut down. I get an 'ExceptionInInitializerError' any time I try. I can shut down the target server, install the deployment using the console, then start the server, and everything works great. Any insight is greatly appreciated.

  • Application unable to identify the managed server after restart

    Hi
I have a application deployed in a cluster in production environment which has two managed servers configured to it in separate machines. this application generates a wsdl file.
now we are facing a strange problem as below.
when one managed server crashes and goes down in some situation, the cluster is able to manage it.
we have a class which does remote binding of objects.
Even when we restart the second server it is not able to identify it.
Edited by [email protected] at 04/18/2008 9:45 PM

    Hi,
I tried starting the server from the console as well as from command prompt. Here I am giving the command below.
    nohup ./startManagedWebLogic.sh bi_server1 t3://machineIP:portNo > bis1_startup.log &
But each time I got the same exception.

  • Start all managed server with nodemanager wls 8.1

    Hi,
I've configured nodemanager in my environment, now I'd like to restart all managed servers at boot time. I've created a script that start the nodemanager process at boot time but I didn't found any properties to automatically restart all managed servers.
How can I do it ?
    Thank you.

    Great!
I had the same error: when starting UCM on WL Console, it starts and says Running. But when accessing it on the browser receive the error 404. In the other hand, when starting with Commands, it force shutdowns.
I have set the StartScriptEnabled property to true, now I can start UCM only on the command Line, to start it on WL Console, I have to manually start the node manager.
Is there a way/script to start the node manager automatically?

  • Gateway unable to connect to Management server

    Hi,
We are currently having an issue with one of Gateway servers which is not able to connect to RMS server. We had tried re-issuing the Root certificate and the other client certificates as per http://www.definit.co.uk/2012/01/troublewithscom2007r2certificates/
But still we have the same issue. PSB the events being triggered on the G/W server.

A device at IP RMS IP:5723 attempted to connect but the certificate presented by the device was invalid.  The connection from the device has been rejected.  The failure code on the certificate was 0x800B010A (A certificate chain could not be built
    to a trusted root authority.).

The OpsMgr Connector could not accept a connection from RMS IP:5723 because mutual authentication failed.
    Jesty

    Steps to solve issue:
    Check for eventids (20067, 20070,  21016)
    Export certificate from Local\Computer\Personal\Certificate Folder
Save as DER encoded binary X.509 (.CER) file.
Run certutil -urlfetch -verify <cert.cer> tool on cer file exported in step 2.
Search certutil output for errors, like “retrieving URL: The server name or address could not be resolved 0x80072ee7 (WIN32: 12007)”
Open Internet Explorer and copy URL that cannot be resolved. If you cannot download the *.crt file look at your proxy settings. These should be empty of correct.
    Correct proxy settings.
[not sure if step 7 is really needed] Remove certificates from Local\Computer\Personal\Certificate Folder and Local\Computer\Operations Manager\Certificate folder
Import certificate again in Local\Computer\Personal\Certificate folder
You can run certutil -urlfetch -verify <cert.cer> tool again to see if there are still any errors.
    Run MomCertImport <nameofcertexport>.pfx again.
Check eventlog for restart of HealthService (will be restarted after running MOMCertImport) and if everything is ok now.

  • Resource Pool "Observer" - how failover works in SCOM 2012

We currently have 5 Management Servers SCOM 2012 SP1 Cu6 + a SQL Failover Cluster for SQL database of SCOM/SCOMDW.
2 of these Management Servers are dedicated for network monitoring of approximately 200-400 network devices (including certified and generic devices). Additionally, we have about 20 distributed apps + 30-40 websphere JVM instances defined which are spread
    accross all management servers.
    my questions
1.) how can I determine, where a distributed app or network device or websphere instance is currently attached to? They belong to any member in the resource pool, but I haven't found any possbility to query scom (e.g. PowerShell) where a specific entity is
    currently attached.
2.) for network monitoring, a seperate resource pool is defined (no scom agent is connected to these 2 servers). These two servers have local SSD disks, 2x quad core CPUs and 24GB memory each. When one of these management servers is rebooted, the mistery
starts. Many distributed apps throw a critical error (unavailable), in the eventlog many network devices throw also an error that they are offline, in SCOM they turn gray. The remaining management server is nearly exploding (high IOPS without much throughput)
for approx. 30 minutes, it seems that after return of the second management server they try to balance somehow the instances, but with many errors. (antivirus is turned off)
=> now, after several days, we've found somewhere in the internet the info that with 2 management servers in a resource pool, an observer should be defined. Should this resolve our issue or will e.g. the distributed apps always through an alert until their
state is recalculated? The documentation to the observer function is rare, and we are not able to find any further hint how to resolve our issue when doing reboots of management servers.
    Thanks so far!
    Best Regards Klaus

    Dear Alexis,
Thanks for your answer. We've now changed the "All Management Server" Resource Pool to "Manual Membership" (through PowerShell), and clearly defined Observers for each resource Pool. Now, if any management server fails, the objects (distributed App, WebSphere
Instance, ...) turn into "not monitored" instead of "offline" which makes the difference now.
However, the network monitoring servers need about 30 to 60 minutes after reboot of one of them until they've reprocessed and recalculated everything. Within this time, the disk has 100% active time with approx. 1500 disk transfers/sec and about 1MB/s throughput.
(we've about 300 network devices - 150 are certified ones - attached to the management servers)
    Best Regards Klaus

  • Can admin server be shutdown after all managed instances are started?

    Hi all,
I'll like to ask, can the admin instance be shutdown after I have started all the managed instances? I'll restarted the admin instance whenever I need to preform admin duties, like application redeployment, configuration of the domain.
I reckon the answer is yes. But I'll like to know will my cluster still function? ie is there clustering function after I shutdown the admin instance?

    Hi,
You can shutdown the admin server after all managed server instances are started. It will not effect working of cluster.
You will not be able to start any new managed server instance when the admin server is down, unless the managed server is starting in MSI mode.
    Regards.
