Unable to connect TFS 2013 from Visual Studio 2005

Hi Team,
Our customer had recently migrated all TFS Projects in Team Foundation Server from  2010 to 2013  (which has  .NET 2.0,3.5 and 4.0 Projects)  as well. We are facing one critical issue for some developers working in Visual Studio 2005
projects after migrating to TFS 2013, were unable to use their VS 2005 Projects with TFS 2013 server.
We installed the following software in the order
VS 2005 professional edition
Team Explorer 2005
VS 2005 SP1
Forward Compatibility Patch SP1
MSSCCI Plugin for TFS 2013
Team Explorer 2013
We have also referred the below msdn links to resolve the problem

Hi SaranRam,
It's suggested to use the same version of VS and TFS, and it would be better to use Visual Studio/Team Explorer 2013 to work with TFS 2013.
For your situation, you can have a try to Team Explorer 2013 separately to connect to the team project in TFS 213 and work with the upgraded projects. You can also have a check on other machines to see if it works for you. Another option is clean team founation
cache to see if it's related to your credential. Also view event logs to see if there any useful information.
About the second link you referred, please have a double check if  you have configured it properly. And elaborate more details if the issue persists.

  • Connect from visual studio 2005 from PC 1 to Oracle database from PC 2.help

    hi every body
i am new in oracle database projects
i have installed oracle 11g enterprise on my laptop
and i have visual studio 2005 on my desktop computer
and i want to connect to oracle database on my laptop from desktop through my network
what additional tools should i have on my laptop and desktop to make application in visual studio 2005 and how to make the connection?
    thanks in advancebye

You would need to install an Oracle Database Client on your desktop computer, to get the windows interfaces, oci, connectivity software and other support files to be able to "talk" with the database server (on your laptop).
    Download from the usual place
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/database/index.html
    or the Instant Client
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/tech/oci/instantclient/index.html
I don't know about Visual Studio - you need to check certification with the product and also be sure to follow the requirements in the Installation Guide for the release and platform that you choose.
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/documentation/index.html
There are plenty of application Developer's guides, some of which you might want to study closer:

  • Error in creating connection to Oracle in Visual Studio 2005

    Hi all,
    After installing Oracle 11 http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/htdocs/odtlic.html?url=/technology/software/tech/dotnet/utilsoft.html
successfully, when I made a connection between Visual Studio 2005 to Oracle following this instruction http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/net11gobe/building.net/vs_otn2.htm#t1
At step 3, I got this problem message error:
"An unexpected error occurred in the Oracle Data Provider for .NET. Please contact the provider vendor to resolve this problem".
If anybody has a solution, could you please help me ?
    Thanks in advance,
    Greetings,
    Joesy

    OK, in short:
Cause: Wrong OPMN request port used to configure the connection (third step of "Create Application Server Connection" wizard). You might have kept the default (6003) but your OPMN is configured with different request port.
Solution: Check $ORACLE_HOME/opmn/conf/opmn.xml file and look for entry like this:
    <port local="6140" remote="6240" request="6040" />
Create the connection using OPMN request port that is set in opmn.xml file.
    Thanks

  • Unable to open .cs files from Visual studio solution

I am unable to open visual studio .cs files. .cs file are part of solution. Blank screen is displayed with no text display

    Hi Anonymous_99,
    Thanks for your post.
Your current solution stored in TFS Source Control? If yes, what’s the version of
    your TFS and VS?
You opened your solution in Solution Explorer, but you cannot open the .cs file from Solution Explorer? If yes, which message you received? Or you had opened your .cs file, but without any text display?
If this issue only happened in this current one solution or your VS cannot open any .cs file on your client?
Please share the screenshot(s) here, it will help us provide the better response.

  • Connect to sql from visual studio

in my sql server 2008r2 I made a new database with some tables, and I want to use it in visual studio, so in the server explorer window - I clicked on "connect to database" and I can't find my new
DB in the "select DB name" drop down. how can I find it there?
    thank you!

    Hi,
It might be an Authentication problem. You have to make sure that the user that connect have the right permitions on the database for example. The easier way is First make sure that you can connect the database throw the SSMS, and keep the connection
    information
    Server Type: Database Engine
Server name: <IP, or domain, or dot, or machine name, etc>\<Instance name>
    Authentication: Windows Authentication
    Open Server Explorer
click the button "Connect to Database"
In the windows that open write the same information that you used in the SSMS
    >> Dont use the dropdown to find the information, but just write it
Use the "test Connection" to make sure that it is OK before you click OK

  • Unable to connect Oracle 10g Express from Visual Studio Server Explorer

    Hello,
Please help me out here. I am connecting from Visual Studio 2008 to Oracle 10g Express Edition and the I have installed the ODAC 11 and the ODP.NET as well for Visual Studio(Both include Oracle Developer tools). But whenever I tried to connect from my Visual Studio 2008 server explorer so that I can have the database and its object there, I do get this error : "ORA-12560 : TNS: protocol adapter error."
The following is what I specified in my connection box:
    DataSource Name: (Local Database)
    Username : HR
    Password: the password for it.
My OS is : Windows Vista Ultimate.
Please anyone who has solved such error should just help out here.
    Thanks all

Thank you for your reply. I will like to know if you can use Visual Studio. In visual studio there is what we called Server Explorer and from there you can create connection and access all the database server from there. I am able to connect to the Oracle XE through the browser and I was able to crete table and other stuffs like that but when I tried to connect from Visual Studio 2008, I get the 12560 Error. I checked my TNSNAMES and found this:
    XE =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = OLAMMIE)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SERVER = DEDICATED)
    (SERVICE_NAME = XE)
    EXTPROC_CONNECTION_DATA =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC)(KEY = EXTPROC_FOR_XE))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SID = PLSExtProc)
    (PRESENTATION = RO)
    ORACLR_CONNECTION_DATA =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC)(KEY = EXTPROC_FOR_XE))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SID = CLRExtProc)
    (PRESENTATION = RO)
Look at what I have in my Sqlnet.Ora file,
    # This file is actually generated by netca. But if customers choose to
    # install "Software Only", this file wont exist and without the native
    # authentication, they will not be able to connect to the database on NT.
    SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES = (NTS)
Please kindly help me out of this as it is very urgent. I can connect from browser using http://127.0.0.1:8080/apex but cannot connect from my C# code and Server Explorer. What is likely to cause this error.
Thank you for helping me in advance.

I'd like to know how do you connect to TFS 2010,. When you connect to TFS 2010 via Visual Studio 2013, you have to install Team Explorer 2013 and Connect using the http://server:port/tfs/ProjectCollection url format for on premise servers. Check the

How to resolve the above error?
    Thank you
    Su

    Hi Su,
    Thanks for your post.
How do you manually build  your PL/SQL/Oracle projects?
TFS Build invoke MSBuild command to build project/solution on build agent machine by default. If these projects can be built using MSBuild command line manually, then we can use TFS Build(default build process template) to build these projects.
If these projects need be built using another complier, and this compiler support run the command line to invoke it, so you can add the InvokeProcess activity(execute the command line) to invoke this compiler to build these projects in build process template,
then create build definition using this customized build process template.

  • Cannot install Selenium Components for Cross Browser Testing extension from Visual Studio 2013

    Hello,
I am having some issues with installing Selenium Components for Cross Browser testing.  I keep getting this error everytime. Yes, Visual Studio 2013 has been registered with a product key. However, I cannot seem to bypass this error. I tried to install
from http://visualstudiogallery.msdn.microsoft.com/11cfc881-f8c9-4f96-b303-a2780156628d and from Tools->Extensions and Updates from Visual Studio 2013. It just does not work. I have a copy of Visual Studio 2013.  Yes, I already have Visual Studio
2012 Ultimate and Visual Studio 2013 Ultimate installed on my machine. What am I missing?

    Hi Antwan,
Please uninstall the VS, then reinstall it.
On the other hand, this issue is in the extension, I suggest that you should post it in
Selenium components for Coded UI Cross Browser Testing site for efficient response. (Q AND A)
    Thanks

  • Add-in for Access 2010/2013 with Visual Studio 2012 (2013 Preview)

    Hello!
Am i right: Microsoft wants to kill Access in favor of Azure/SQL stuff?
I was unable to find any Projects in Visual Studio 2012/2013 to create an Addon for Access 2010 or 2013 (only Word, Excel, Outlook).
    There is even no Microsoft.Office.Tools.Access.ApplicationFactory
to install add-in to Access App.
    Any solutions for VS 2012?
Or i should use outdated Shared Add-in with VS 2010?
    Thank you!

    Sorry Donald M from Microsoft,
You need to rethink that response.  IDTExtensibility2 is an outdated Office 2003 technology.
Everything EXCEPT the ThisAddIn.designer.cs reference to ApplicationFactory _factory compiles when you switch references in another Office application's VSTO project template to msaccess and dao libraries.  Even the Access icon shows up in Visual
Studio 2013.  The only reason a Ribbon.xml project will not load into Access is that Microsoft hasn't provided the Microsoft.Office.Tools.Access DLL for it.  If you leave the Factory reference pointing to global::Microsoft.Office.Tools.Factory,
the add-in compiles but will not load.
MICROSOFT: Please provide us the missing Factories for MSAccess and OneNote.

  • Error importing result file from Visual Studio Online load test - Incorrect Syntax near ')'

We are seeing the exact same issue as reported in:
    https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/vstudio/en-US/4a338992-1a46-47ae-9f13-10a53a6264b5/error-downloading-load-test-report-from-visual-studio-service-load-test-incorrect-syntax-near?forum=TFService#cb43383b-c60d-4dcc-a353-352ac6908b35
When clicking on the "Download report" after running a load test using Visual Studio Online an error occurs.  The download completes, but the import fails at 15% with the following:
This is happening for 2 different users on 2 different systems.
Any assistance in resolving this would be greatly appreciated!
Let me know if additional information is needed.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
We are researching your issue. Please clarify my question with detailed information:
    1. Do you get the error in your first post when you click ‘Download report’ after you run load test from
    Visual Studio 2013 on
    team foundation service?
2 You said that ‘I am trying to import the test results into a Visual Studio 2012 (Update 3) on-prem instance’, what and where is
your load test result repository? A SQL Server database or the default database:LoadTest2010 in SQL Express on the same machine with Visual Studio 2013?
3 Whether you specify the load test result repository under Load Test->Manage Test Controller?
    4. What error do you get? Please provide us more detailed information about the error message or share us with a screenshot.
5 Whether you can run the load test successfully locally and get the load test result with the same load test result database?
6 You said that your co-worker can work fine. Please check whether your account has enough permissions for load test result database and download load test result from TFS to load test result database based on the account
    permission of your co-work.
    Thanks,

  • Not able to deploy windows kernel driver on target machine from visual studio

I have created windows kernel driver, and signed it with production certificate. Now I could install this driver on my target machine manually(copying inf, cat and sys).
I want to make use of the visual studio 2013's deployment facility to deploy the driver automatically. But when I try to add the target computer(with administrative account) it failed with error message "The account credentials used to connect to the
target computer could not gain administrator access to the target computer. Try using the built-in Administrator account".
    what possibly could be wrong?

Pavel The host machine is on a domain(say ABC) and I am logged In as the domain administrator. On The target machine I am logged in as the local administrator. Now while adding the target computer from visual studio I am asked for the administrator account
credentials and I am providing the local administrator credentials there.
Pavel I found it is necessary to install "WDK Test Target Setup x64-x64_en-us.msi" on the target machine which I had not run. Once installing that I passed through the previously mentioned steps and after performing few installations target machine
got rebooted. And then the deployment process hanged on step a "Attempting to connect...". Tried this for multiple times but result in to the same problem.
