Unable to drag code snippet into Block Diagram

Windows - 7
Internet Explorer 8.0
LabVIEW 2010
Tried to drag a snippet that I posted on the forum into the block diagram and it would not do it.
With Firefox, I get the usual url text (I know it is not supported).
Anyone else having problems with the above combination?
Solved!

Hi Saverio,
I know..  I always dragged it from IE.  Except for this WIn 7 machine.  I will check to see if another machine has IE8 and try it.
I do like Christian's trick, since it's a nice workaround for Firefox.

  • I can't drag new snippets into mini bridge in CC

I can no longer drag new snippets into mini bridge after an upgrade to CC.  When I try to drag an item into mini bridge I see a green plus icon for a fraction of a second then in disappears. This is the second computer (macbook) I've had this problem on. Similar situation with both computers. Everything worked when I was on CS6, but after installing CC it stopped working. Uninstalling CS6 doesn't seem to have any impact on the problem.

I don't think I understand what you're trying to do. When you export a snippet, you're creating a separate IDMS file in an external location. If you wanted to move the snippet to a different external location, it would make sense to use the full Adobe Bridge application.
If I want to use a snippet file on a page, I can definitely drag the snippet from MiniBridge onto the page, and I get the Place cursor, and can place it in InDesign CC.

  • Turning code snippets into a new JS library for using EA

    Hi,
Considering turning a bunch of EA code snippets into a JS library.
So here are the main questions about doing so...
    1. Is the root object class of EA the "sym" object and what is it actually in JS or JQuery? Is sym simply a variable containing the value: $( document )?
    2. How to extend a class, such as sym? Can I simply add a method to sym by writing this? sym.newMethod=function(){do things}
    3. Is composition.ready() actually the JQuery $( document ).ready() ?
And finally, is it alright to simply put all the methods extending the "sym" class into a .js file?
    Thanks in advance!

Ah...and then a member of the or friend of the outsourced programming team in India that hasn't written a PlayTo method yet...has marked the not-so-helpful answers "helpful"....CERTAINLY hope that Adobe is not going to allow the outsourced programmers to ruin Adobe like Microsoft has already been ruined by outsourced programmers in India. Seems that some "friends" of those programming teams in India have already started trying to infiltrate and corrupt Adobe corporate.
Sitting at a library at Stanford right now in the Silicon Valley area and will likely print a PDF of this thread to present to some C-level execs at Adobe so the company can be saved before india ruins Adobe.

  • Import code coloring xml and code snippets into dreamweaver cc 2014

How do I import my code coloring xml file and code snippets from the earlier version of dreamweaver into cc 2014?

Thanks, Preran. After uninstalling the 2014.1 update and reinstalling the previous version, I now installed the 2014.1 update again. Instead of jumping straight into restoring the preferences, I decided to test it out as-is, and it worked! No problems with pasting after opening any of my five browsers. I wonder what may have gone wrong the first time...or what was corrected during the uninstall/reinstall process. In any case, it is working again now and I am grateful. Thanks!

  • Unable to drag a photo into imovie 08 no photo settings available

Hi - any help appreciated - I'm unable for some reason to drag a photo into my project. It's the first time I've used iMovie 08 but am quite a proficient mac user. Photo Library is visible and I can select photos no problem. The photo settings dialog box doesn't appear and if I drag over to the editing window it doesn't appear (but there is a green plus).
Photos are on an external drive, don;t know if this is anything to do with it.
    Thanks in advance
    Hayley

My photos are on an external drive too and have no issues. That doesn't rule out the external drive as a problem for you but hopefully confirms for you that you should be able to get it to work.
What happens if you drag the photo or a photo from either your desktop or from the iphoto application itself.
Have you tried closing imovie and re-launching it.

  • Unable to drag any music into my phone play lists

I have just sync'd my phone and all the music in my play lists have been erased. I can still see them as purchases but I'm unable to drag any of them back into play lists to recreate them. I get the circle with a line through it when I attempt to. Any ideas its driving me potty.. the only things that have changed are updating the itunes software as promted. I have used a PC elsewhere since but have made sure that its authourised etc and all seems fine. Any help greatly appreciated??

Did you try clicking on the check mark (to remove the check mark) and then dragging the CD content to your Shuffle? I kept having problems dragging the CD to the Shuffle. Then I Unchecked a track and dragged over. Voila!
If you click on all the check marks on the CD, then highlight the first track, then while holding "shift" click on the last track - and drag it over to the Shuffle - you won't have to go back and forth dragging tracts to the Shuffle.
Now, I realize that I may have been the last person in the world to figure this out - but I was so excited when I did, and it makes life so e-z!

  • Putting the part of the code on the block diagram in "comments" like we do in C

    Hi
Like in C, if I dont want the compiler to see few lines of code I just // or /* them. Is there a way to do same thing for a loop on a block diagram in Labview.
    Kind Regards
    Austin

Also note that the CONDITIONAL DISABLE structure will let you include/exclude things - I use it for debugging code.  It's like:
    #ifdef Debugging
        printf("Pressure is %0.1f, temp is %0.1f", P, T);
    #end if
You define the symbols on the PROPERTIES page of the target, in the CONDITIONAL DISABLE SYMBOLS section.

  • Unable to Drag & Drop email into Smart Mail Folders

With Tiger, one could create "Mail Folders" and Drag & Drop emails into them. How is this possible with Leopard? I create the Folders and Sub-sets of Folders but I cannot archive my emails by dragging and Dropping. Anyone have a solution?
    Thanks
    charlie

The title of your question mentions "Smart Mail" folders.
The text of the question mentions "Mail Folders".
Drag and drop only works with the regular "Mail Folders". If you try to drag a message into a Smart Mailbox it will refuse to go there because the message doesn't qualify.
"Smart Mail Folders" are supposed to be set up to automatically alias an email in your inbox that has specific qualities, like, The sender is a member of a group in your addressbook, the subject contains a certain word, or other trigger (That's what makes them smart).
Depending on what you are trying to do, you may do better with creating regular "Mail Folders" so that you can manually sort important emails as you wish without having to build the Smart rule.

  • Unable to drag a CD into my shuffle from iTues

I have had no problem dragging a variety of cd's into the iPod icon, form music to language tapes but for some reason, I am having problems with a CD by Dr Wayne Dyer--The secrets of the Power of Intention. I purchased this 6-cd set and downloaded it into iTunes and have played it from iTunes. I have tried draging individual tracks and also coping all of the tracks and dragging them but all have failed. When I grab the tracks and I attempt to drop them into the iPod icon; instead of a green colored circle, a red colored circle appears with the number of tracks and I am unable complete the process. Do I need to download this CD into another format and if so, what is the process
Does any one have any suggestions?
    Thanks and Happy Holidays

  • Unable to drag and drop into trash when Numbers 09 is in use

I wonder whether anyone can help me with this. When I have a spreadsheet open in Numbers 09, I can't drag and drop anything into trash. However if I minimise the spreadsheet, the drag and drop works!! Can anyone enlighten me as to why this is? I am very new to the Mac and am still learning+
    Thanks

+May you check the behavior of Numbers '09 under mac Os X 10.5.6 ?+
+When used under macOsX 10.5.6, if we drag a file's icon above a Numbers window to drop it on the trash icon, the file is not trashed.+
+I was able to reproduce this odd behavior several times.+
+I must add that we may drag and drop to the trash without any problem when running under 10.4.11.+
+Numbers is the unique iWork's component with this odd behavior.+
+I don't know which is the culprit, Numbers or Finder but both of them are made in AppleLand.+
+Happily, we may use the good old 'cmd + delete' shortcut but,+
+an oddity is an oddity and it must be removed ;-)+

  • Code snippet problem: creates wrong snippet

I had a small code example and then created two subVIs from the example.  When this was done there was some cleaning up of the sub VI code that had to be done where I mostly cleaned up some pathways and labelling for clarity.  Then I selected the code on the block diagram of the sub VIs (one at a time) and created a code snippet of the new code on the block diagram.   The code snippet shows a png file of the original code!  I thought I forgot to save the file or some such nonsense and went back into the sub VIs and brought them back up and saw that the block diagram had all the changes that I incorporated!  I saved everything again and restarted my LabVIEW 2009 software and created another code snippet:  still the original block diagram is saved to the snippet and I cannot even see that block diagram anymore.  In desparation I made everything into a small project and tried again to no avail.
Am I dealing with a bug?

It is a small snippet and it does contain property nodes, a local variable and semaphores to demonstrate resource sharing.
Egads!  I just realized that a code snippet does not do what I thought!  I really thought that a snippet was a png screenshot, but the IDE is doing more than that.  It seems that it is trying to show much more than a simple screen shot!  This does seem like a strange thing to do unless I can embed a snippet of code into another VI and actually run it - is that the case?
Yes just drag it into a diagram.

  • Is it possible to build exe with vis that have striped block diagrams?

We can tell that an entity has stolen our code and are using them in their .exe file.
We used to distribute our program as a light exe layer that dynamically loads some source code distribution vis (block diagram striped) off disk and runs them.
What we don't know is whether they actually got our in house source code, or if they are somehow taking the distributed vi's and compiling them into their exe.
So the question is: Is it possible to take vis compiled for a 'source distribution' with the block diagrams removed (but front panels not removed) and compile them into an executable?

It's actually quite possible to use a source distribution VI for a new app. You need to select the "Do not disconnect type definitions or remove unreferenced
members" option in the "Additional Exclusions" page.
I've attached an example on how this can be done. Untitled Project 1 would be your project, which has a build target of your app, along with the source distribution for a VI with the block diagram stripped. Untitled Project 2 would be your competitor's project, which is a VI that uses your subVI directly and builds a separate application. As you can see, I can successfully build an application using your code.

  • Cut and paste from one block diagram to another?

Is it possible to cut objects from the block diagram of one vi and paste them into the block diagram of another vi?
Also, is it possible to "comment out" parts of a block diagram like you can in a text based program? That is, can you disable "code" on a block diagram without removing it from the diagram entirely?

CVI is much easier to me than LabVIEW, maybe since I've been programming extensively in C for 20 years. But boss says we gotta use LabVIEW. It's the politically correct thing to do.
Lots of LabVIEW advocates in management here. Few have done anything of significance with it. Some use Signal Express and call it LabVIEW. I guess they're technically correct. SE says LabVIEW on the splash page.

  • Can no longer open a folder while dragging a file into it...

Suddenly I am unable to drag a file into a folder, hold it over that folder and have the folder open so I can then navigate within that folder before dropping the file (does that make sense?)...it has been working just fine for some time and now it won't work. Only thing I've done recently is repair disk permissions (which CheckUp seemed to find a lot in need of repair, oddly enough).
Any help is much appreciated, I use this feature frequently.

    HI,
I'm not sure what CheckUp is. Only use your Disk Utility application (Applications/Utilities) to repair disk permissions on a Mac.
*"Suddenly I am unable to drag a file into a folder"*
Time to check the hard disk. Grab your install disk.
Insert Installer disk and Restart, holding down the "C" key until grey Apple appears.
Go to Installer menu (Panther and earlier) or Utilities menu (Tiger and later) and launch Disk Utility.
Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in the left panel.
Select First Aid in the Main panel.
(Check S.M.A.R.T Status of HDD at the bottom of right panel. It should say: Verified)
Click Repair Disk on the bottom right.
If DU reports disk does not need repairs quit DU and restart.
If DU reports errors Repair again and again until DU reports disk is repaired.
Check your available disk space also.
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon on your Desktop, then click: Get Info. In the Get Info window, click the discovery triangle so it's facing down. You will see; Capacity and Available Make sure you have 10% available disk space, 15% is better. Not enough available drive space can cause issues like you are experiencing.
