Unable to install Business Intelligence for Visual Studio 2012

I have tried and tried to get the templates to show up in Visual Studio. I have tried all the suggestions that could be found from others in 2013. I am down to the "Command Report.NoOp" message when I click on "Sql Server Data Tools for Visual
Studio 2012", under Sql Server 2012 menu.
Can anyone help me get rid of this error message? I can't tell how many times I have uninstalled and reinstalled or repaired 2012 software. I believe I finally have the correct SSDTSetup.exe file and SSDTBI_VS2012_x86.exe file. The versions are 11.0.3402.0
and 11.1.31203.1.
I have spent 3 days trying to get this working so I can create some SSIS projects. Please someone help me.....
thanks,
SMA
Shawn M Austin

Hi Shavona,
According to your description, we need to verify if the error message is “Command "Report.NoOp" is not valid” when you install Microsoft SQL Server Data Tools - Business Intelligence for Visual Studio 2012.
If yes, it seems that the BI Templates are not installed properly. Please ensure that you have selected “Perform a new installation of SQL Server 2012” instead of “Add features to an existing instance of SQL Server 2012” when installing the
update.
For more information about how to install SQL Server Data Tools - Business Intelligence for Visual Studio 2012, you can review the following post.

  • Error installing SQL Server Data Tools - Business Intelligence for Visual Studio 2013

    Hi
I am trying to install SQL Server Data Tools - Business Intelligence for Visual Studio 2013 and am getting the following error
This installation package could not be opened. Contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package.
    I am running
    Windows 8.1 x64
SQL Server 2014 Developer Edition x64
    Visual Studio 2013 Professional
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Biztalk Developer

Could you please check if Windows Installer service is running and is in automatic startup mode.
The other thing is, if you’re running an x64-based SQL instance (64-bit), make sure to select “New Instance” on the Installation Type page, and NOT “Add features to an existing instance”.

  • SQL Server Data Tools – Business Intelligence for Visual Studio 2013 (SSDT BI) and SSIS on SQL Server 2012

    This great blog entry titled
SQL Server Data Tools - Business Intelligence for Visual Studio 2013 (SSDT BI), link below, highlights the lack of support for SSIS projects using SQL Server 2012, VS 2013 and SSDT BI for VS 2013. I see there is a new version
on SSDT BI for VS 2013 (12.0.2430.0, File Name: SSDTBI_x86_ENU.exe, Date Published: 10/27/2014) link below.
Does this version support SSIS projects using SQL Server 2012 using VS 2013 and SSDT BI for VS 2013?

    Hi cjrinpdx,
According to the picture, it seems that we can use SSIS 2012 support is not included in SSDT-BI for VS 2013. And based on the previous versions, SSIS always different from SSRS, SSAS.
SSDT-BI for Visual Studio 2012 supports versions of SQL Server as follows:
SSAS project can target SQL 2012 or lower
SSRS project can target SQL 2012 or lower
SSIS project can target only SQL 2012
The following blog is for your reference:

  • SSIS failed to execute in SSDT-BI for Visual studio 2012 after SQL 2012 SP2 upgrade

    Hello,
I have applied sql server 2012 sp2 on my dev workstation and I am currently having this error message when trying to execute a SSIS package from SSDT-BI for visual studio 2012 : "Method
    not found: 'Boolean Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Design.VisualStudio2012Utils.IsVisualStudio2012ProInstalled()'. (Microsoft.DataTransformationServices.VsIntegration)"
I found this link on SSIS forum :
IsVisualStudio2012ProInstalled() method not found error when running an SSIS package from VS2012
I don't have neither Gacutil.exe nor Visual studio professional installed so it can't be fixed this way... and anyway, this means we will use the old assembly version of ssis...
    sql server 2012 sp2 setup doesn't apply to SSDT-BI 2012 ?
    what can we do ?
    thanks,
    Stéphane

    Hi Stephane Guilleminot,
According to your description, you do not execute a SSIS package from SSDT-BI for visual studio 2012 after upgrading to SQL Server 2012 SP2. The workaround is still necessary to apply SP2 and CU1 for SP2 (11.0.5532), then you still have to replace Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Design.dll
(11.0.5532.0) with the last working version: 11.0.3412.0 from SP1 CU9.
There is similar issue about executing SSIS package after upgrading SQL Server 2012, you can review the following similar post.

  • Question on Blend For Visual Studio 2012

    Hi,
I am using "start here Visual Basic 2012" I am making an animated picture with a button. the button, when pushed will cause a picture of a chicken to move.
On page 118 it says to double-click the Click event handler text box for the button which I did in Blend. Blend is then suppose to open up Visual Studio  to the code editor for the button, which it does, however it opens up in .cs instead of .vb like
    the book shows.
Does anyone know how to fix this issue, I would guess its simply a setting that needs to be changed but I have no idea what setting or if its in Blend side or the Visual Studio side
    thanks
    Dave

This is a useless answer - I have to agree with most of the posters here I am FED UP with Microsoft. The link that is presented in the Blend start page (mentioned in the post above) is this one
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-US/expression
However when you go to that link the Download for the Blend + Sketchflow preview is no longer active and the 2012 link takes you to the VS 2013 page. In other words the download is no longer available - or if it is MS has hidden it somewhere in the bowels
of its website where you can't find it.
Bottom line if you have 2012 you are forced to do yet another massive download of 2013 - and then pay for it.
Microsoft is now officially worse than Adobe (and that is saying a lot). Moving the furniture in their OS, on their website, half the links in Google point to pages that are no longer relevant because things have been moved or changed.
Maybe someone at Microsoft should take a closer look at the thousands of ISV's out there who make their living from developing MS apps. I have now spent a week of unproductive time just trying to setup an environment to deliver a solution. My client is not
interested in problems MS - he wants results - so we pick up the vlak on behalf of MS with no where to go other than these less than useless forums.
What is the actual status of Visual Studio and Interface design tools? I have been to hundreds of pages including Wikipedia which actually gave the most information and I still can't answer this question. I want to build a WPF app an design a Rich interface
for it - I have every version of VS (6, 2003, 2005, 2008, 2010 and 2012) - what do I need to do what I need to do?????

  • Setup and deployment for Visual studio 2012 express edition...

is their any way to create setup file for application developed using express editions??

    >is their any way to create setup file for application developed using express editions??
For 2013, only by using 3'rd party tools.
If you use the VS2013 community edition, then (so it says here
    https://visualstudiogallery.msdn.microsoft.com/9abe329c-9bba-44a1-be59-0fbf6151054d)
the VS Installer addon should work.

  • Crystal Reports Version for Visual Studio 2010 Fails to Install

    Hi -
I am trying to install the CR redistribution package for .Net 4.  When I run CRRuntime_32bit_13_0.msi I get an Error 1904 when it tries to register the commonobjmodel.dll.  If I manually register the dll using regsvr32 I get the following message:
"The module 'commonobjmodel.dll' failed to load.  Make sure the binary is stored
at the specified path or debug it to check for problems with the binary or dependent .DLL files."
The dll does exist and is in the correct directory.  Is there another installer I should be using?
    Thanks.

  • Add-in for Access 2010/2013 with Visual Studio 2012 (2013 Preview)

    Hello!
Am i right: Microsoft wants to kill Access in favor of Azure/SQL stuff?
I was unable to find any Projects in Visual Studio 2012/2013 to create an Addon for Access 2010 or 2013 (only Word, Excel, Outlook).
    There is even no Microsoft.Office.Tools.Access.ApplicationFactory
to install add-in to Access App.
    Any solutions for VS 2012?
Or i should use outdated Shared Add-in with VS 2010?
    Thank you!

    Sorry Donald M from Microsoft,
You need to rethink that response.  IDTExtensibility2 is an outdated Office 2003 technology.
Everything EXCEPT the ThisAddIn.designer.cs reference to ApplicationFactory _factory compiles when you switch references in another Office application's VSTO project template to msaccess and dao libraries.  Even the Access icon shows up in Visual
Studio 2013.  The only reason a Ribbon.xml project will not load into Access is that Microsoft hasn't provided the Microsoft.Office.Tools.Access DLL for it.  If you leave the Factory reference pointing to global::Microsoft.Office.Tools.Factory,
the add-in compiles but will not load.
MICROSOFT: Please provide us the missing Factories for MSAccess and OneNote.

  • Crystal Report  not listed Add New Item for Visual Studio 2010

I just finished installing cryestal report for visual studio 2010.
During the installation a visual studio error dialog popped up "Operation cannot be completed. Access Denied", the crystal report installation continued and was informed that the installation was successful.
But on opening my visual studio project to add new item,  crystal report item is not listed there.
Is there anything that needs to be done to get it listed in the Add New Item dialog for visual studio?

I wonder what file you ran to install CRVS2010? Was it the MSI as opposed to the actual install file?
The link to the correct install is here:
