Unable to open production database after normal shutdown

Hi,
We are using oracle database 10.2.0.3 on AIX 5.3 with ASM.
I have normally shutdown my database and after that when I am trying to open that i got lots of errors and as a result of that ASM diskgroups got dismounted.
Our asm instance boots normally and mount the diskgroups but while opening database got following error:

  • Unable to open windows database files hosted on Lion Server

I use Mac Mini as a server. With Snow Leopard Server I shared files hosted on Mac Mini and other PC computers on the network could use together Access and Quickbooks files. After upgrading to Lion Server no PC is able to open these database files. E.g. when opening MS Access file hosted on Lion server following error pops up: "too many users acessing the file". However, the Access database can be open from network PC when opening in exclusive (single user) mode. Normal multiuser mode brings error.
Is it possible to solve this Lion sharing issue?

Same problem. Just fired up a new Mini with Lion Server to replace an HP Home Server because we need more than 10 users in our church now. Got all the users set up with group permissions and home directories on the server. Unfortunately I expected Lion Server to work just like Snow Leopard Server and be able to serve up ODBC databases like Access and Quickbooks files.
Anyone heard if Apple has a solution to the "too many users" error message? It appears that Access in particular attempts to open the data file and create a locking file (ldb), but cannot get the file permissions it needs from Lion.
Sorry I have no solution for all yet.

  • Unable to open EIS console after install...

I get the error "olapbldr has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.",
This displays in the typcial Microsoft Send Error Report window. THis occurs immediately after I try to open the EIS console by clicking on the shortcut in Programs menu.
    Background:
I installed Hyperion System 9 release 9.3.1 from scratch.
    1. Oracle Database (user IDs: hypuser for shared services, plansys and planapp for planning module)
    2. Shared Services
    3. Essbase
    4.Planning (without EPMA)
    5. HFM
    6. Reporting and Analysis
I installed and configured the above components exactly as in the order given in "Installation_Start_here" document.
After completion of Step 3 above, I was able to open EIS console. At this time, it displayed the Metaoutline creation login window. I did not create any meta outline at this time.
I believe this can be done later and not part of the installation/configuration. Correct me if I am wrong.
The above mentioned error message occured after I try to open EIS console after completing the installation of products. At this stage, its not even showing any initial screen of EIS console and straight away gives the erorr message.
What could be the problem here? Did I miss anything in installation/configuration? I have followed this sequence and method in past installations, but didn't have any issue opening EIS.
    cheers
    Z

Iam also facing the same problem.
While open EIS console, Iam getting error like "An unhandled win32 exception occurred in olapbldr.exe".
There is no error message in log files.
    Please help me

  • "unable to open project file" after importing layered Photoshop file

After spending a day of work, I saved and closed my 720p project. Today, I can't open it. I get a message saying: "Unable to open project file." Same thing happens with the auto-saved copy.
I have narrowed down the problem to this: I made a new 720p project file. Without doing any work, I import a single layered Photoshop file (.psd), then save and close the project. When I try to open it, I get the message again: "Unable to open project file."
Works fine at home. What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks,
    PPJ

I'm just now having the same problem, though I'm using FCE 3 . I can open older (NTSC) files. Just not new HD files that I have also blindly used alpha+Photoshop layers in. When I create a new HD file with a few HD clips in it and even use an audio track from the project I'm wanting to make, and use TIFF versions of the graphics and save it, it will open right up -- but something about these PS files.

It may be that the server restart corrupted the database. Go into database properties and uncheck the box start database with application and then try to restart the application.<BR><BR>You can try database validation, or simply reload the database from backup. But you can get the application up and the rest of the databases up by decoupling the database restart from the application start.<BR><BR>There will be a .xcp log file in your application directory (and possibly your database directory.) These might help Hyperion Support in identifying the cause of the problem. But the quickest solution would be to reload the database from backup. The serer and application logs can also provide help in identifying the problem.<BR><BR>One of the keys is to determine why the server is not responding before restarting the server. It may be that a single application is the source of problem. Typical causes are unscheduled free space restructures, application loads of large databases, and an occasional rogue process. Rather than rebooting the entire box, or even restarting the Essbase server, the safest approach is to only kill the job that is soaking up the cpu cycles, causing the server to be unresponsive. This requires identifying the offending process (esssvr.exe) and killingit. Often that restores the rest of the system to operations, giving you time to focus onthe offending application.<BR><BR>You learn thses things when you are pushing the server to its limits (or beyond). This will allow a better utilization of system resources. And also, it's a good idea to shut down applications that you are not going to be using for a while. Every loaded app takes system resources whether or not it is doing anything. So review your list of apps that start on startup and consider unloading apps after completing batch processing. <BR><BR>Sorry about the long lecture, but I speak from somewhat painful experience. • DPM 2012 R2 unable to connect to Database after failed Update Rollup 4 Installation

We have a DPM 2012 R2 Server with SQL Server 2012 installed locally.
We tried to install Rollup 4 for DPM 2012 R2 (KB3009516) using Windows Update
and it failed with error code 0x80070643. Now when we open the DPM Console
it is totally empty (no Protection Groups, Servers, Disks, just like a fresh install).
In the eventlog we get a lot of Errors and warnings:
    Event 941 (MSDPM)
Unable to connect to the DPM database.  Make sure that SQL Server is running and that it is configured correctly.
Cannot open database "DPMDB" requested by the login. The login failed.
    Event 4209 (MSDPM)
The description for Event ID 4209 from source MSDPM cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.
If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.
The following information was included with the event:
DPM Writer encountered an internal error.  Please restart the DPM Writer service, and then try the backup operation again. For additional troubleshooting information, review the application event log and the DPM Troubleshooting Guide.
Event 107 (Report Server Windows Service (MSSQLSERVER)
Report Server Windows Service (MSSQLSERVER) cannot connect to the report server database.
    Event 274 (SQLISService110)
    Microsoft SSIS Service:
Registry setting specifying configuration file does not exist.
Attempting to load default config file.
Then there are some Errors/warnings from SQLSERVERAGENT about failed scheduled Jobs.
I think the failed Installation changed some database Settings, so that now the DPM Console
    cant access the database anymore.
I would be happy if someone can help me getting this Server working again!

Our biggest problem is, that the DPM is not working any more. So there is no chance to backup the SQL Server via DPM.
I think the main problem is that DPM have no access to the database. Every time I start the DPM Application, I get an error "verify that the DPM service is running on this computer". In the eventlog are many errors that the msdpm service was unable
to connect to DPM Database. Another "information" is that the user 'nt authority\system' failed to open the database of dpm.
We've tried to reinstall the DPM but its still the same problem. I suppose that is a corrupt database.
Tomorrow I try to restore the database and hope it will be the solution of our problem.

    It sounds a little strange.

    Hi Chris!
SQLExecute method of ODBC is returning -1.
I have checked the syntax of the query its also correct. I am also very confused on it why is this happening. If I execute the update command from ttisql it works ok.
The code is the same that we discussed in our previous conversation.
The steps I did after improper shutdown:
    1. Started TimeTen daemon >ttdaemonadmin -start
    2. Loaded the Data store >ttAdmin -ramLoad spiderM
    3. Executed the code

  • Unable to open internet explorer after Installation of SAP GUI

    Hello
I installed SAP GUI 7.10 from presentation CD. SAP GUI is successfully installed but I am unable to open IE.
    IE starts downloading a file.
Please help me with this issue.

    Hi Nikhil,
Uninstall the SAPGUI and check if IE returns to normal. If not then reinstall the SAPGUI and on top of it reinstall IE.
However before doing all this, check the following SAP Notes:
Note 66971 - Supported SAP GUI platforms
Note 950975 - SAP GUI for Windows: Support for IE7 (Internet Explorer 7)

  • Unable to open the database

I am not able to open the database: Following are the facts and things I have done so far
    1)     database is in NONARCHIVE mode
    2)     database backed up by using datafiles, controlfile, logfiles etc
    3)     datafiles, controlfile and logfiles are out of sync because the time of disk back at night a cron job also update a datafile. So one particular datafile is out of sync.
    4)     When we start the database following error comes
    a.     ora-01207:file is more recent than controlfile - old controlfile Question1: Is it because i did a hot backup and whenever there is a write, the controlfile ...
    5)     when we try use ‘alter database recover we get following
    a.     ora-01157: connot identify/lock data file 21 – DBWR file
    b.     ora-01110: data file 21 ‘…../…/../o2_mf_sys_undo_zvt7qxkf_.dbf

    b.     Alter database archivelog – doesn’t work

Do the following and you should be fine with your database.
The error indicates that oracle process cannot open more locks than allowed.
I assume you are on aix/unix environment
as oracle user run this command
    #ulimit -a
and verify the settings. You may want to set all the setting to unlimited as below.
Some commands may not work depending on your OS, dont worry.
    ulimit -t unlimited
    ulimit -f unlimited
    ulimit -d unlimited
    ulimit -s unlimited
    ulimit -m unlimited
    ulimit -c unlimited
    ulimit -n unlimited
    ulimit -v unlimited
If still not resolved, ask you system adminitrator to check security setting for oracle user under /etc/security/limits.
Change the values for oracle user to -1 which means unlimited.
logout from oracle user session and login again, check ulimit -a. Start your instance and you are good now.
I have seen this issue many times on many system.
    Good luck.
