Unable to override the method get(int) in java.util.AbstractList

package util;
import java.util.Vector;
import java.lang.Integer;
public class integerVector extends Vector
public integerVector() { //construct a Vector()
super();
public integerVector(int m) { // construct a Vector(m)
super(m);
public integerVector(int m, int n) { // construct a Vector(m,n)
super(m,n);
public void set (int i, int n) {
Integer ii= new Integer(i) ;
setElementAt(ii,n);
when i try compiling this i get the following error:
integerVector.java:37: get(int) in util.integerVector cannot override get(int) i
n java.util.AbstractList; attempting to use incompatible return type
found : java.lang.Integer

public Integer get(int n) {
It would be very helpful if anyone can provide the solution

The method's signature is defined by the Interface java.util.List.
public Object get(int index)
instead you want to implement
public Integer get(int index)
Yes you could write a class with this method, and call it IntegerList or similar.
However it could not implement the List interface, or extend any of the List classes.
Instead of extending Vector (or ArrayList) you could delegate to it.
That way you're not extending the class, and not changing the signature of a method.
public class IntegerList(){
  private List internalList = new ArrayList();
  public Integer get(int index){
    return (Integer)internalList.get(index);
}This class would be of limited use though, because you couldn't treat it as a regular list because it hasn't implemented the interface properly.
The best you could do would be to have it implement the collection interface, which doesn't expose the specific get methods.

    I changed my Apple ID and password, but when I attempt to update Apps I am prompted to enter my Password for my OLD Apple ID, and I am unable to override the Old Apple ID. How to proceed ?

    Delete everything bought with the old Apple ID and buy it again.
    Content and Apple IDs -
    Content is forever tied to the Apple ID that bought it. Apple does not transfer content from one Apple ID to another. Apple does not merge Apple IDs. You will never be able to access your content bought with one Apple ID with a new Apple ID.

  • Overriding compareTo method for ints

    I'm having a problem writing the overloaded compareTo method for my class. Ideally, the class will be used in collections, and has to be sorted by an int value. I've found a messy way to do this by converting the int values into strings, then comparing those, but I would like to know if there is a better way to do this.

    You could subtract, unless you are worried about over/underflow.
    Then you can just compare the ints the old-fashioned way:
    import java.util.*;
    public class Test implements Comparable<Test> {
        int x;
        public int compareTo(Test that) {
            return this.x - that.x;
            //return this.x < that.x ? -1 : this.x > that.x ? 1 : 0;
    }

  • Where is the method getting called ??

    Dear experts,
    I am new to ISA. I have a piece of code :
    <a href="<isa:webappsURL name="b2b/viewinvoice.do"/>"
    where the method 'viewinvoice.do' is getting called. But I am not able to find where this method is actually lying and I have to make some changes in the code.
    Can anybody guide me where does the code lie or how to find out where the method / code lies??
    Regards,
    Mamai.

    Search for config.xml in your Workspace. There are all the calls defined which are done behind this links.
    In this file, search for "b2b/viewinvoice"  without the "do" behind.

    No, it should still run. It's what shutdown hooks are for, cleaning up, eg: database connections, in the case of unexpected shutdowns. Not foolproof, by any means, though. Pulling the power cord won't run them, for obvious reasons

    This seems to be a relatively new issue, but I'm not sure when I started having the problem. While use the tool frequently, it's not daily, but I'd say that this is within the past couple of weeks.
    I've scoured the settings. I've trolled message boards. I've checked for updates. I'm wondering if there's something I'm missing or if I need to do a full reinstall.
    I've inserted an image below showing the issue. (Changing the page range and/or units seems to make no difference. I tried that out of desperation.

    tier API that returns a Set. I convert this Set into array of object and return
    it via the web service.
    However the .jws file that implements the webservice does not compile. I get the
    following error message:
    java.util.Set is an interface. This interface is not supported.
    Is there a limitation on using Collections within the .jws file? If that is the
    case it is a severe limitation.
    Note my Web Service API returns an array of java objects with no collections in
    them.

    Hello,
    Generic java collections can only be handled in a very generic, weakly
    typed manner.
    Take a look at the
    http://workshop.bea.com/xmlbeans/guide/conXMLBeansSupportBuiltInSchemaTypes.html
    and also
    http://workshop.bea.com/xmlbeans/guide/conJavaTypesGeneratedFromUserDerived.html
    You might also ask your question to the XMLBeans newsgroup:

    Hi Folks,
    Is there a limitation in BEA's web services implementation? I have a simple web

  • Overriding the method EntityImpl.create() and setting attribute values?

    Hello,
    I need to set a date to '01/01/2001' if field dateto is left blank when user is inserting a new record.
    How to you do that please ?

    The easiest way would be to set the date as default in the EO. The date then is visible when you create a new row. If the use overwrites it you get the new date, if he leafs hte date untouched you get the default date.

  • How to use the method  setReadTimeout(int longtimes) in HttpUrlConnection?

    I have to use the HttpUrlConnection to download files ,sometimes the speed is very slow or just blocked for no reason.(no Exception was throw and I can't see any changes from my swing Interface)
    It seems the thread is dead. I try to use setReadTimeout() to control the read . but it isn't working ,
    Now I have to questions?
    one how to use the setReadTimeout() so it can throw the SocketTimeoutException like the API said
    second how to solve the problem I metioned before : sometimes the speed is very slow or just blocked for no reason
    Please somebody help me !!!

    That is not true. For example ajax continuous, http monitor or media streaming in client side is unusable without nio http client (or implementation is much simple and better). All logic is coming to client side from server. Modern client are very powerful and same time servers are overloaded.
