Unable to play songs or videos on Itunes

Songs and videos show and show that plays, but the time or the marker does not move at all, songs and videos don't play, also unable to transfer podcast or videos to my iphone, i'm running the newer itunes version 7.4.2.4.
Can someone help me please?

Anything else to your setup? Any audio interfaces (if so, disconnect them and see if the marker moves)? Any plugins you have in iTunes?
Has the new version of iTunes ever worked correctly for you? If so, can you think of any recent changes to your computer that may have sparked this issue?

New iPod touch won't play songs or videos from iTunes!

I purchased a 64gb iPod touch for my niece for Christmas. We set it up and synced her library this afternoon. None of the songs synced from iTunes will play (cover art appears but the song never plays - we have tried pressing pause and restarting, etc.). Also, the iPod says it "cannot open" the movie we synced. It will play one song that we purchased from the store using wifi (and will play that song instead of playing some of the other synced songs if you try to play them now).
We have restored twice (once from a PC, once from a mac). The same issue recurs each time.
This is turning out to be a huge disappointment for her, so any suggestions will be appreciated!

My Itunes no longer plays songs or videos. When I click on a song it it brings the song up into the window at the top of Itunes but it just stays on 0 sec and doesn't ever start. Videos do the same thing: the video box comes up but then doesn't do anything, stays on 0 sec....how do I fix?

What happens when you try?
If the song is an older purchase (from more than a few years ago), it may have DRM (copy protection). You can check by selecting the song on a list in iTunes, and doing a Get Info (right click - Get Into). On the Info window Summary tab, if Kind is Protected AAC audio file, it has DRM. Also note what it says there for Apple ID. You need to authorize the computer you use with the iPod to play content purchased with that Apple ID.
From the iTunes menu bar, under Store, select Authorize This Computer. Enter the Apple ID (and password) used to purchase the song. One computer can be authorize for multiple Apple IDs.
NOTE: More recent iTunes Store song purchases do not use DRM, although other type of media (such as TV shows and movies) still do.
If that's not the cause of your problem, please post back with more details...

Pls help me to fix an issue with my playbook browser. The embedded flash player is not working... Unable to play the streaming videos... Browser is hanging many times. Restart done, cleared history etc.. Still doesn't work.

Welcome to the forums.
Try doing the following. In the browser swipe down from the top and choose Settings, now choose Content, here where it says Enable Flash change this to Off. Now try going to the website that was not working (it will not work again this is fine) Once on the page swipe down from the top again and this time enable the Flash setting. Now reload the page and test to see if you have the same issue.

HT3209 Cannot play 1080p HD videos from iTunes. Anyone got any ideas?

I have a AMD 6 core @ 2.8 GHz, 16 GB of RAM and a Geforce GT 640 with HDCP support, but still cannot play 1080p HD videos from iTunes. Anyone got any ideas?
According to the hardware requirements, my system well exceeds them, but no joy!

UPDATE: I backed up my phone, wiped it (Settings -> General -> Reset -> Erase All Content and Settings), & then restored it through iTunes. For whatever reason, that seems to have fixed the problem. Movies now sync to my phone like they used to.
That process seems to have corrected 1 or 2 other minor issues, including one where iTunes was 'syncing artwork' for a long time on every sync.

I can't play the preview videos on iTunes, Quicktime error

For some reason I can not play the preview videos on iTunes. I can play the videos I have bought allready though. So, when I try to run quicktime outside of iTunes I get this error message.
"Quicktime failed to intialize. Error # -2096
Make sure your Quicktime is properly installed on your computer"
I've tryed uninstalling quicktime and iTunes and reinstalling them both. And I have also tried reinstalling just the Quicktime without redoing the iTunes.
If someone can please help I would appreciate it. I would love to be able the preview videos and movies on my iTunes.

Try connecting the device to your iTunes library in recovery mode and restoring it. Use the instructions in this Apple support document to place the iPod into recovery mode.

Music plays in the Music app - not iTunes. Videos play in the Videos App - not in the Music App. Is that what you are doing? If you are using the correct apps for the appropriate content - quit the apps and restart.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

ITunes won't play songs or videos!

Hi guys, I just installed iTunes 7.0. Before that I had the must up to date version of 6. Somewhere along the line when I still had version 6.X, iTunes stopped properly playing video. I could either see nothing, or see one scene, and the audio sounded like it was skipping. I could still play songs fine though. After installing the new iTunes, I cannot play video or song files. Whenever I attempt to, I basically just hear the skipping "broken record" sound. I have other media players on my computer, but I set up iTunes to be the primary player. my ipod still plays songs fine.
If anyone can help, please reply! I'm lost.

make sure you have the latest sound driver for your sound card
reinstall quick time
check in the sounds and audio devices in the control pannel under the audio tab that your sound card is set to the default sound playback device

ITunes playing songs as videos

Not sure if this is a problem with iTunes 10 or not.
Basically I went to listen to a song that was imported from a CD as opposed to downloaded and it started trying to play it as video?!
Now, the other day these songs were playing fine as music files, but now I've looked at it the songs appear to be .mp4 video files...
Slightly confused... Any ideas?

I'm having the exact same problem with all of my MP4 audio files. I can confirm that it's a problem with iTunes 10, since the problem did not exist in previous versions. iTunes 10 thinks all of my MP4 audio files are video files. It will play them, but it goes to a black video screen every time, as if it's trying to play a video stream that isn't there. I have not been able to find a way to stop this behavior in the preferences.
Please fix this problem as soon as possible, Apple.

Unable to play songs in itunes

I get the error message that the original file cannot be found whenever I try to play or transfer music from itunes.
If I locate the song it works fine but as I have over 15000 it is going to take a very long time to locate them all. What has happened and how do I rectify this matter quickly and simply?

Same exact problem. I have my music stored on an external harddrive because of space problems on the internal. Up until the update, my iTunes Library on my internal harddrive had no problems locating the music on my external harddrive. Now it won't locate it. I followed advice from another discussion (take Library out of folder, reactivate Previous Library) but this did nothing. When I move my music back to my internal drive, the Library will locate it. This is not practical. I have 40 Gbs of music. From other threads, this seems to be a major flaw with the update. Help would be greatly appreciated.

Play songs and video from iPhone in iTunes

I would like to be able to play songs from my iphone and video as well on my work pc as I have done in the past with my previous ipods. Is there a way to do this and if not is it going to come as an update?

Since there is not a manually manage your music setting you can't do it at this time. This is primarily a user-to-user forum so no one here has any information on future updates and Apple normally does not pre-announce them.

Just bought my first video from iTunes Store and should watch it with my son. I had to authorize, this and that for some time, but finally I got the video in my iTunes, but it was just a black screen. Nothing playing and no sound (of course). So I tried VLC and it was at least runing there, but no screen and no sound. Quick time said I had to authorize my iTunes acount first (which I had done several times before) and did it again with just the same result, nothing happening. What's wrong? I'm no geek so please help me out with this, I thought it should be easy piecy with a iMac and iTunes, well, hope it was a one in a million problem.

If you live in a Region that allows re-downloading Music...
Delete the Song(s) and re-download...

Can't play song in ipod with itunes. Error occured (-6999)

Hello, I recently installed itunes on my new computer with windows 7 and I am unable to play the songs in my ipod through my itunes. At first when I plug in my ipod it begins to sync. I can see my entire playlist then but after a while syncing I can only see about 1/3 of all my songs. When i click on a song to play it has an exclaimation mark beside it and does not play.
It then gives me an error messange, "the ipod cannot be synced. an unknown error occured (-6999)".
Help please. My ipod can play with my old laptop on itunes just fine and they are using the same version of itunes.

one month later Im still having this problem. I have a dell xps 1645 with the new i7 processor. it runs windows 7 on 64 bits
