Unable To Produce RTL (Right To Left) Output in Character Mode Reports

hi
Work environment
- Oracle Forms 6i(client/Server) With pacth 18
- dot matrix printer
- Window xp
Create Report with property "Direction" is "Right to Left"
NLS_LANG is set to AMERICAN_AMERICA.AR8MSWIN1256.
While running this report with mode=bitmap, the output columns
are flipped. The leftmost column appears to the right of the output. This is the expected
behaviour.
While running the same report with mode=character and desformat=dflt leftmost column
remains on the left. The column order is not changed from Right to Left.
Based on note 332829.1 in metalink
Should I change dflt.prt file as follows:
printer "dflt"
height 66
width 80
nls locale "arabic"
nls datastorageorder

contextuallayout "no"
nls contextualshaping "yes"
after page control(L)

  • Address to be printed in Hebrew language (RTL-Right to Left).

    We have an issue with address prining in SAP Script form. The form (FI-Invoice) is in English, but recipient address is maintained in Hebrew (RTL-Right to Left). The Hebrew text is printed normal LTR, means it looks mirror imaged compared to actual Hebrew text.
    I have tred with all options in ADDRESS command below, but could not get the (only) address printed in Hebrew /RTL orientation.
    The option LANGUAGE has no effect, I don't know why!!
    I have also tried the ITCPP-TDRTL in CLOSE_FORM but no use.
    /: ADDRESS [DELIVERY] [TYPE t] [PARAGRAPH a] [PRIORITY p] [LINES l]

    Hi,
    Try using Hebrew font in the paragraph format which is used to print the address.

  • READ-ONLY CHARACTER MODE REPORT OUTPUT

    Hi,
    I am using Developer Suite 10g Report Builder to create a character mode report. I use commands as below to open the report output;
    PROCEDURE Run_Report (vReportname varchar2) IS
    LINEBUF VARCHAR2(2000);
    BEGIN
    linebuf := NULL;
    linebuf :='C:\DevSuiteHome_1\bin\rwrun ';
    linebuf :=linebuf||vReportname;
    linebuf :=linebuf||'destype=file desname=c:\windows\temp\L610.prn ';
    linebuf :=linebuf||'&& "C:\Program Files\TextPad 5\TextPad.exe" C:\windows\temp\L610.prn';
    host('cmd /c '||linebuf);
    END;
    The reason why I am using third party software is because customer wanted to view the report output first before proceed with printing and I had tried with all option PDF, HTML, Notepad, Wordpad, Ms Word Viewer 2003, they all got problem wether fail to preview the output nicely or printer cannot recognize the generic output. As for now Textpad is the best in both to preview nicely and printer with generic driver can print the output nicely.
    But there is another problem. Anybody can edit the output preview onTextpad and customer do not want that to happend (security for accounting data).
    So, can anyone suggest me how to create the ouput in READ-ONLY mode? But please do not advise me to print directly to the printer because on 9i PREVIEWER function works well while on 10g this function has been obselate so I need to find the replacement of PREVIEWER function to running on web.
    Thanks.
    Regards,
    Faisal

    What about trying to view the text in the browser (IE/Mozilla)? That is what we do about reports produced by reports server: they are written in files on the reports server machine and opened with the browser, or they are sent directly to the printer.
    Otherwise, i simply see no way to prevent a text editor from editing the file on screen. If, let's say you make the file read-omly, that won't do, for the user may change the data on screen and print what's on screen without saving the file...

  • PDF output in character mode

    Hi,
    We are trying to print a XML out put in PDF format using dot matrix printer. The problem is, the dot matrix printer is printing in graphic mode, i.e. each line is printed as two halves. We need each character to be printed as a whole character. Due to graphic mode printing the report is not legible. Suggest some font that can be used in the template which will appear legible in dot matrix.
    Or any other way to print the PDF output in character mode.
    Regards,
    Anupam

    Hi,
    this sounds like a printer driver / firmware issue. I'd suggest to discuss that issue with the printer vendor and maybe get support from them to get the printer working for PDF files.
    Another option is to put some filters in the print queue to convert the PDF into other formats, bitmap or postscript or whatever the printer understands.
    I don't think this is a problem related to BI Publisher, as long as the PDF displays fine on your screen.
    best regards,
    David.

  • 320x240 QT export produces black bars on right and left

    Ok, this one is strange. So far, it only appears to affect 320x240 targets from sources that don't have square pixels. Starting with a 720x480 DV movie (even if I change the properties to display 640x480), I export directly to 320x240 and I get a movie with black bars down the right and left. I did not tell QT to letterbox or scale, although telling it to scale does no help.
    The problem seems to be in the meta data. If I go to the movie's visual properties and change the move dimensions to 324x240 (with preserve aspect ratio unchecked), then the black bars disappear. When I change it back to 320x240, they are still gone and the movie plays fine. I save it and reopen it, and the black bars are back! The same thing happens exporting from Final Cut Pro using Quicktime conversion. This is definitely a bug.
    The work around is to export to another 4:3 format with square pixels first and export that to 320x240.
    On a related note, the same thing happens when I record a movie in Quicktime at 320x240. I get a recording with black bars down the sides.
    This has never happened to me before. I'm a professional QT software developer and a content producer. I've been using Quicktime Pro for a decade, at least. I've been over all of the export settings, and I've deleted all of my Quicktime preference files.
    Is there a way to report a bug to Apple?

    Regarding: "there's a pretty good chance that your playback target isn't Quicktime Player"...
    My assumption is that if your material is 320x240, it's probably that size because you're planning to either display it on a small-screen device, send it to a TV set, embed it in a presentation, or deliver it via the Web. In any of those cases, your final delivery target isn't QuickTime Player, but rather some other mode, such as the QuickTime web plug-in, iPod, AppleTV, or even some other option. In which case the strangeness with the player doesn't seem so strange.
    As a workaround, you could layer your 320x240 movie with at 350x240 grey rectangle on the layer behind. That would fix it in QuickTime Player, but it would cause grey bars on either side if you embed into a web page or something like that.

  • Template/Theme for Right to Left (RTL) pages (Arabic)

    Dear All,
    Please can some one provide me with online documentation or links with detail steps to create Templates / Themes for pages to be displayed in Arabic language (Right to Left).
    Thanks
    Best Regards
    Arif Khadas

    Hello Arif,
    >> Please can some one provide me with online documentation or links with detail steps to create Templates / Themes for pages to be displayed in Arabic language (Right to Left).
    I’m afraid these are not really exist. The official documentation doesn’t include Right-To-Left references, and I’m not really familiar with any other on-line documentations that cover this issue. As far as I know, the relevant chapter in my book is the first (and probably the only) time where APEX Right-To-Left development support was covered.
    The following thread can give you a hint on how to start (the CSS direction attribute) and why this is not enough. As I said before, Right-To-Left development is fully supported by APEX but it’s not that simple and can’t be covered in a single forum thread. I know I’m bias (as I wrote the book) but if you are serious about developing Right-To-Left APEX applications you should consider purchasing the book. For the long run, it will save you a lot of time (and frustration).

  • Right to left (RTL)

    hi my freinds
    dose adobe flex builder 3 support right to left direction for
    controls
    if it dosent
    how we can solve this problem
    because i need to change dir of controls from left to right
    with my thanks

    all you want to show on the screen is drawn by flex,
    so what you could do is modify the way it draws components on
    your screen by overruling the standard flex functions.
    think about something like this:
    override public function set initialized()
    i'm sorry but i don't know how you could do that exactly.
    what i do know is that's possible to overrule or extend packages.
    extend packages like this:
    public class ButtonBarButtonSkin extends Border
    more examples on this:
    http://examples.adobe.com/flex2/inproduct/sdk/flexstore/srcview/index.html
    in the flex store you could look at the buttonbarbuttonskin,
    they overrule some standard flex functionality.
    I suggest you contact a member of adobe for your question.
    You said you want to use it for the middle east.. maybe a
    stupid question, but aren't the people there already used to
    internet and english pages where all is lined out from the left to
    the right?

  • Unable To Write Right To Left (After Installing Win7 SP1)

    Hey You All!
    Yesterdy I've Installed Windows 7 Sp1,
    And Today When I Tried Writing In Hebrew (Right To Left)
    In My Photoshop CS5 - ME (Supports TRL Writing), It Writes Backwards
    Like If I Were Using Regular Non Hebrew/Arabic Supporte Text...
    Has Anyone Else Encountered This Problem? Please Help, It's Slows Me Down In My Workplace!!!
    Thanks!

    Hey Again!
    Well First Of All Thank You For Trying And Helping Me!
    I've Tried To Look For A Sloution But With No Luck, But...
    It's Seems That There Is Something Even More Weird Going On,
    As You May Know Once You Install Photoshop CS5 (ME Or Not) On A Win7 64Bit OS
    It Installs Both 32Bit And The 64Bit Versions... So Here's The Weird Part:
    1. If I'm Typing In Hebew In Ther 64Bit Version - You Get The Letters Backwards
    2. But If I Use The 32Bit, Evertyhing Seems To Be Working Okay...
    What Do You Think Is Going On?
    I Also Failed To Mention That I Also Updated To IE9 Perhaps It Is Causing The Problem Also?
    Anyone?

  • Is caret positioning in right-to-left oriented jtextpane corruptable?

    Dear all -
    Below is a serious problem. I hope I can get help from you experts out there; otherwise, I think it is a bug that should be reported to the JDK developers.
    I am writing an editor using my own keyboard layout to type in Arabic. To do so, I use jTextPane, and my own implementation of DocumentFilter (where I map English keys to Arabic letters). I start by i) setting the component orientation of jTextPane to be from RIGHT_TO_LEFT, and ii) attaching a caretListener to trace the caret's position.
    The problem (I think it is a bug just like what is recorded here: http://bugs.adobe.com/jira/browse/SDK-16315):
    Initially as I type text in Arabic, there is one-to-one correspondence between where I point my mouse and where the caret displays, basically, the same place. However, a problem occurs (and can always be re-produced) when I type a word towards the end of the line, follow it by a space character, and that space character causes the word to descend to the next line as a result of a wrap-around. Now, as I point my mouse to that first line again, the location where I click the mouse and the location where the caret flashes are no longer coincident! Also, the caret progression counter is reversed! That is, if there are 5 characters on Line 1, then whereas initially the caret starts from Position 0 on the right-hand side and increases as more text is added from right to left, it is now reversed where the the caret now increases from left to right for the first line, but correctly increases from right to left in the second line! yes funny stuff and very hard to describe to.
    So, here is an example. I wrote the code below (JDK1.6_u10, on Netbeans 6.5 RC2) to make it easy to reproduce the problem. In the example, I have replaced the keys A, S, D, F and G with their Arabic corresponding letters alif, seen, daal, faa and jeem. Now, type these letters inside the double quotes (without the double quotes) including the two spaces please and watch out for the output: "asdfg asdfg ". Up until you type the last g and before you type space, all is perfect, and you should notice that the caret position correctly moves from 0 upwards in the printlines I provided. When you type that last space, the second word descends as a result of the wrap-around, and hell breaks loose! Notice that whereas the mouse and caret position are coincident on the second line, there is no way to fine-control the mouse position on the first line any more. Further, whereas adding text on the second line is intuitive (i.e., you can insert more text wherever you point your mouse, which is also where the caret would show up), for the first line, if you point the mouse any place over the written string, the caret displays in a different place, the any added text is added in the wrong place! All this because the caret counter is now reversed, which should never occur. Any ideas or fixes?
    Thank you very much for reading.

    Hi Mohsen,
    I looked at it and indeed, I see what you describe. Sorry, but I can't shed any light. I tried to figure out what software component, or combination of components, is the cause of the problem. I see several candidates:
    1) The JTextPane
    2) The Document
    3) RTL support
    4) BIDI support
    5) Interpretation (by any other software component) of the left and right arrow key
    6) The font
    To clarify number 6: I know virtually nothing of Arabic language (apart from it being written from right to left). I remember however that the actual representation of a letter is dependent of its position between other letters: front, middle and end. What I see to my astonishment is that it seems that the rendering is also aware of this phenomenon. When you insert an A between the S and D of ASDFG, the shape of the S changes. Quite magic.
    I tried to add a second textpane with the same Document, but a different size, to see what would happen with number one if one types text in number two and vice versa.
    In my first attempt, the font that you set on textpane one was gone after I set its document to number two. For me that is very strange. The font was set to the textpane, not to the document. The separation betweem Model and View seems not very clear in this case. So I now also set that font on the second textpane.
    I will post the changed code so that you may experiment some more and hopefully will find the problem.

    Since installing LTR 5.4, which I've now upgraded to 5.6, I've encountered repeated slowness and malfunctions in operations, especially when using the Compare View function and the Tab key to open and close the right and left side panels.  Such problems never arose during two years of using LTR-4 and nothing else has changed on my computer.  I have a pretty simple system with only a few plug-ins, which are usually not in operation.  I have 12GB of RAM in my Windows 7 PC.  I could illustrate these problems with screen shots if you would tell me how to submit screen shots.  Otherwise I will try to describe the problems in words.
    The problem is clearly cumulative, growing worse as usage time passes.  Compare View feature gradually slows down and eventually seems to choke as my work session proceeds. If I Exit LTR and re-enter and start all over, things will work normally for maybe 30 minutes, but then the Compare View feature begins to become very slow to respond.   In a recent example with my screen full of thumbnails in Library mode I highlighted two images to compare. LTR started to open the Compare View screen by first having the top row of thumbnails disappear to be replaced by the "SELECT" and "CANDIDATE" words in their spaces  (but no images), but Compare View never succeeded in gaining control of the screen. After some seconds the top row of thumbnails reasserted its position and the Compare View windows disappeared. But LTR kept trying to bring them back. Again the top row of thumbnails would go away, Select and candidate would reappear, try again, and give up. This went on for at least 2-3 minutes before I tried to choose File and Exit, but even that did not initially want to respond. It doesn't like to accept other commands when it's trying to open Compare View. Finally it allowed me to exit.
    To experiment I created a new catalog of 1100 images.  After 30-40 minutes, the Compare View function began to operate very slowly. With left and right side panels visible and two thumbnails highlighted, hitting Compare View can take half a minute before the two mid-size  images open in their respective SELECT and CANDIDATE windows. When the side panels are open and two images are in the Select/Candidate spaces, hitting the Tab button to close the side panels produces a very delayed response--25-30 seconds to close them, a few more seconds to enlarge the two images to full size. To reverse the process (i.e., to recall the two side panels), hitting Tab would make the two sides of the screen go black for up to a minute, with no words visible. Eventually the info fields in the panels would open up.
    I also created a new user account and imported a folder of 160 images. After half an hour Compare View began mis-placing data.  (I have a screen shot to show this.)  CANDIDATE appears on the left side of SELECT, whereas it should be on the right. The accompanying camera exposure data appears almost entirely to the left of the mid-screen dividing line. Although the Candidate and Select headings were transposed, the image exposure data was not, but the data for the image on the right was almost entirely to the left of the line dividing the screen in two.
    Gurus in The Lightroom Forum have examined Task Manager data showing Processes running and Performance indicators and they see nothing wrong.  I could also send screen shots of this data.
    At this point, the only way I can process my images is to work 30-40 minutes and then shut down everything, exit, and re-start LTR.  This is not normal.  I hope you can find the cause, and then the solution.  If you would like to see my screen shots, tell me how to submit them.

  • Urgent help required regarding reports Arabic Characters (Right to Left)

    Hello Members
    I am facing problem while deploying oracle reports on application server (Forms & Reports). I am using Developer Suite 10g 10.1.2.0.2 and same version of Application Server on Windows Environment. I have some fields in Arabic and some are in English. The reports output is in PDF format. I am also using PDF Subset fonts feature to subset the Arabic font problem.
    Now the problem which I cannot is that I wanted that PDF generate report read Right to Left only for some specific fields not all fields. For example the following fields displayed as
    395/دمام (Actually reading left to right and same saved in database)
    But I wanted to be numbers are displayed first and then arabic word (dammam) while reading right to left.
    My NLS_settings on developer suite and application server is “AMERICAN_AMERICA.AR8MSWIN1256”
    When I am changing the nls_settings to “ARABIC_SAUDI ARABIA.AR8MSWIN1256”. It convert the whole report layout from righ to left and then it is not reading well the English fields i.e. left to right.

    The problem was solved by changing
    REPORTS_BIDI_ALGORITHM=UNICODE
    REPORTS_ARABIC_NUMERAL=ARABIC
    But now i have another issue that i wanted to display one filed with REPORTS_ARABIC_NUMERAL=ARABIC and second with REPORTS_ARABIC_NUMERAL=HINDI. During my all search i found that this is applied on Report wise and we cannot set for one filed.
    Would any body will help me to change REPORTS_ARABIC_NUMERAL for one field at runtime or design time either changing the registry value or any configuration file of application server ?
