Unable to set Non-FS partition type (GPT + RAID)

I'm performing a new install, and am following the RAID wiki for a RAID1 on 2 disks.
The wiki suggests to use the "Non-FS" partition type (DA00), rather than the "Linux RAID" partition type (FD00), to avoid potential issues down the road.
However, the example given in the wiki is for cfdisk (MBR). I'm using GPT partitioning rather than MBR, and cgdisk only accepts the FD00 partition type, not DA00.
Do the wiki's precautions against using FD00 only apply to MBR-partitioned drives? Or should I be setting the partition type some other way?

A few comments:
Four-digit (two-byte hexadecimal) partition type codes are, AFAIK, unique to my GPT fdisk (gdisk, sgdisk, and cgdisk) program and any programs that might mimic it. (The fdisk clone in busybox is one of these, IIRC.) These codes are not industry-standard; I created them just because I needed a compact way to describe partition types and to accept partition typing data from users. GPT actually uses 16-byte GUIDs as type codes, and those are very awkward, from a user interface perspective!
GPT fdisk does not have a type code of "DA00," so any documentation that refers to such a code is either flawed or is referring to something other than my GPT fdisk. (Somebody might have a patched version of GPT fdisk that implements such a code, though.)
AFAIK, there's no such thing as a generic "non-FS" partition type for GPT. The most complete list of GPT type codes I'm aware of is on the Wikipedia entry on GPT, and I don't see anything close to that meaning in its table.
According to this site, which holds a good list of known MBR type codes, 0xDA is the MBR type code for "non-FS data." Given the way I create GPT fdisk type codes, that would translate to DA00 if there were a GPT equivalent. Since there is no GPT equivalent, though, DA00 remains invalid in GPT fdisk.
Tools based on libparted, such as parted and GParted, do a terrible job at presenting partition type code data to users. I've just skimmed it, but the page to which you refer, s1ln7m4s7r, appears to set up RAID data on a partition with a GUID of EBD0A0A2-B9E5-4433-87C0-68B6B72699C7 -- "Microsoft Basic Data". That is, the RAID partition will be flagged as holding an NTFS or FAT filesystem! That's one of the worst possible ways to set up a Linux RAID, in terms of its partition type  code.
For the most part, Linux doesn't care about type codes, on either MBR or GPT. There are a few exceptions to this rule, though. Thus, on a Linux-only system, using a bad partition type code won't have dire consequences; but on a dual-boot system, or if the disk gets moved to another computer for some reason, a bad type code choice could result in data loss. Windows might try to reformat the partition to use NTFS, for instance.
The Linux RAID partition type code (GUID A19D880F-05FC-4D3B-A006-743F0F84911E on GPT; represented in GPT fdisk as FD00) was created to hold RAID data. Although I do recall running across advice somewhere to not use this type code for RAID data, I honestly don't recall what the reason was, but my recollection is that I was unimpressed.
Since you didn't post a link to the page that recommended using "DA00" for RAID devices, Nairou, I can't comment on that advice in context; however, I suspect the author was confused or that the wiki went through some edits and something got mangled. Unless somebody can provide a good reason otherwise, I recommend using the RAID data type code on a partition that holds RAID data. If you want to use something else, create your own random GUID; do not use the type code for a Microsoft filesystem, especially if the computer dual-boots with Windows!

    By internal, I assume you're referring to your systems (boot) drive. Is it, by chance, a partitioned dive?
    Also…although many people successfully use their systems drives as scratch disks, over time you'll have better results using a dedicated drive for your media.
    Good luck.

  • Unable to set working directory (-2147024832) for some app installs

    I've found several drivers on a Dell Laptop that don't play well with others in MDT 2012, so I started making an application install package for them instead.  Most of them fail with an "unable to set working directory" error.  I checked
    the app install logs and they don't really make any sense to me.  I know the process as a whole works, because I can install .Net 4.0 runtimes without any problems using the same method.  The important bits of the ZTI App log are below.  Would
    be for any guidance on this, as I'm stumped and none of the searches on the exact errors are of much help.
    A sample error returned in the wizard is:
    WARNING - unable to set working directory (-2147024832)Error installing application Dell 3440_Chipset_Driver_JD3WN IMEI drivers 9.5.3.1520_A00: The system cannot find the file specified.
    The ZTIApplication.log file contains the following... the first is one that works (.NET 4), the second is one that fails. (Not using code block for this one, it doesn't like it).

    I'm not familiar with how Dell does their client side software, but for the server-side software (my area of expertise), I've always done something like the following:
    I recommend running every application install in a VBScript/Powershell wrapper.  You get logging for the application back on your SLShare as well as its cleaner (you can replace Drivers A05 with A06 by changing the script, rather than editing the application
    in MDT).
    sApplicationName = "Dell 12G Chipset"
    oLogging.CreateEntry "Install-" & sApplicationName & ": Starting " & sApplicationName & " installation", LogTypeInfo
    '//Set Destination Folder
    sDestFolder = "c:\temp\"
    '//Set Source Install Directory
    sSourceDir = oUtility.ScriptDir
    sSourceDir = sSourceDir & "\Source"
    '//Check that folder exists, if not, create it.
    oLogging.CreateEntry "Install-" & sApplicationName & ": Check that " & sDestFolder & " exists.", LogTypeInfo
    if not oFSO.FolderExists (sDestFolder) then
    oFSO.CreateFolder sDestFolder
    End If
    '//Copy folder from MDT share to C:\Temp
    oLogging.CreateEntry "Install-" & sApplicationName & ": Copy from " & sSourceDir & " to " & sDestFolder, LogTypeInfo
    oFSO.CopyFolder sSourceDir, sDestFolder
    '//Sleep for 2 seconds to allow copy to finish
    wscript.sleep 2000
    sFile = sDestFolder & "Source\setup.exe"
    '// Check if file/folder exists
    If not oFSO.FileExists(sFile) then
    oLogging.CreateEntry "Install-" & sApplicationName & ": " & sFile & " was not found, unable to install " & sApplicationName & "", LogTypeError
    ZTIProcess = Failure
    Exit Function
    End if
    '// Create log entry to show file being run
    oLogging.CreateEntry "" & sFile & " -s", LogTypeInfo
    iRetVal = oUtility.RunWithHeartbeat("" & sFile & " -s")
    if (iRetVal = 0) or (iRetVal = 3010) then
    ZTIProcess = Success
    Else
    ZTIProcess = Failure
    End If
    wscript.sleep 15000
    '// Disable Zone Checks
    oEnv("SEE_MASK_NOZONECHECKS") = 1
    '//Folder Cleanup
    oFSO.DeleteFolder sDestFolder & "Source"
    I always copy any drivers that are installed after the fact (everything for me other than SAS/NIC drivers) to the C:\Temp as it can break.  I always update my NIC drivers during the build to the latest Dell software using their packs.  I try to
    not mess with my boot image unless I'm adding a new model that is not supported by the built-in drivers.

  • Unable to set browser preview options

    I posted this a few days ago and didn't get any responses, so
    am trying again in case I'll have better luck today. :-)
    I hope someone can help because this problem, which suddenly
    occured, is makign it impossible for me to do any work in
    Dreamweaver and that's driving me crazy... :-0
    Thanks!
    I feel a bit silly about this - but for some reason I am
    unable to set the browser preview options in my preferences. I'm
    using Dreamweaver 8 on a Mac OX10.3.9, and trying to designate
    Firefox 1.5 as my default primary browser, and Safari 1.3.2 &
    IE5 as secondary options. When I first open Dreamweaver I get a
    message saying 'Unable to read Preview in Browser Preference.
    Please remove all browsers form the list and add them again". So I
    remove them all and when I try to add them back, none of my choices
    show up in the box. Then I restart and the old ones are still
    there. If I try to change the check in the box that indicates
    primary or secondary browsers, my program crashes. Anyone have a
    clue what's going on? Thanks so much for any help...

    This - file:///ether/Patricia Yenawine/images/oxblood_med.jpg
    - tells me
    that your local root folder is on a network shared drive. I
    am guessing
    that your problem stems from the fact that network
    permissions/protocols are
    interfering with your ability to successfully write your
    cache files and
    your browser preferences.
    Do you have the same problem with sites that are truly local
    to your
    computer?

  • Kdm call to inusertemp failed - related to vfat partition type

    i received the message
    kdm call to inusertemp failed (temp directories full?) check your installation
    upon a fresh arch/kdm installation after trying to change permissions to the /tmp directory
    # chmod -R 1777 /tmp
    i noticed that one file was still 700, it was the file that contained the error message that led to the problem.  the file is
    /tmp/xerr-[username]-:0
    this file clearly states that its unable to create home/[username]/.kde4 among other directories, permission denied.
    then i check permissions on my user directory, and it was owned by user:group root:root.  so somehow when the directory it received root permissions to the directory.
    upon further inspection, i am realizing, since this is a vfat partition type, its related to the way vfat partitions mount i guess. Can somebody tell me what i might need to do so that when i create the next user the permissions are set correctly in the first place?
    when trying to change the permissions
    # chown -R [username]:users /home/[username]
    results in an error
    chown: changing ownership of ./home/wolfdogg/.bash_profile.: Operation Not permitted
    i was looking into this post https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 58#p562358 and it looks like it might be part of the solution, can anybody help me make sense out of this?  do i need to mount the vfat partition differently in order for it to work properly as a home directory?   Is there another partition type i can use to share it with windows 7?  i wanted to set it as an ntfs partition type initially but i didnt see that as an option in either gparted, or fdisk, and couldnt figure any other way than making it a vfat.

    I just did a new installon one of my systems.  Everything up to date.  My account I made during installation works perfectly.  However, I'm getting this error when I create a new user account and try to login to KDE.  I've started doing some searching, but so far nothing I have found has fixed it.  I'm new to Arch myself so I'm doing as much reading as I can.  Hopefully, an answer will present itself.

  • Unable to set template properties

    I have a site which is based off of a responsive design (HTML5/CSS3/jQuery). I've setup a nice template for our Contribute users however I get the "Unable to set template properties" error when I would try to enter the template properties. Additionally, repeating regions don't work at all. No error, nothing. They work great with Dreamweaver, but not Contribute.
    I previously had this issue with an older (non-responsive) site which was based off of a Dreamweaver CS5.5 built in template. However with that site, I would get the following error when trying to work with a repeating region, "You can't add items to repeating regions because the draft's parent template is missing or not available to users in your role. Please contact the website administrator." I was able to fix this with the following Contribute 6.5 settings.
    Users can ONLY be able to create new pages from copies of select pages. I just made blank versions of the templates I wanted people to use, and just saved them in the /Templates directory.
    Be sure creating new pages from site templates is turned OFF.
    Be sure creating new pages from content types is turned OFF.
    This is not the case with the newer site. I've tried both transitional and compatibility modes in the Contribute site settings but still nothing.
    Anyone experiencing this or have any fix ideas?

    Update:
    Looks like I'm going to have to settle on not using nested templates. I gave it a try with on a page from a single un-nested template and both template properties and repeating regions worked.
    So now I'll be including all the global code via PHP includes rather than a master Dreamweaver template. Not sure how that will effect broken link reports or global link updates but it looks like it's the only solution for now.

  • First boot fails - Filesystem type unknown, partition type 0x7

    Just done a straight forward install of Arch onto it's own disk drive, however there are two other drives present in the system.
    Grub menu comes up ok but then Arch errors with:
    root (hd2,0)
    Filesystem type unknown, partition type 0x7
    Error 17: Cannot mount selected partition
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,

    What you still did not really tell us - how are you booting up? I.e. where is your first grub stage installed? How did you manage things with the debian install? Your problem is the root(x,x) line, not the kernel line. This line specifies the boot partition (grub's root/ where to find the kernel).
    Coming from the windows world where for years we have just relied on changing the boot order of drives in the BIOS to choose which MBR to boot from I simply assumed it was just as easy in the Linux world, this is obviously not the case.
    If you want to continue that way, just install grub to the MBR of each disk with a linux install and configure grub to use that drive as the first drive (e.g. set the root line to hd(0,0) if /boot is the first partition). IIRC, changing the boot order in the Bios will pull the selected drive to the beginning. That would fit your inital error (but you did not say how you booted into grub then...). You can double-check that behaviour by using the find commands in the grub shell (see my earlier post).
    Going with grub2/grub's root by uuid only really makes sense if you put grub2 on the MBR of a drive which is always installed and selected as primary in Bios (obviously, all other grub2 files must be on that drive too).
    Just done another completely clean install and noticed that even though I select 'Partition access method - uuid' it doesn't seem to actually work that way, at least checking menu.lst showed no signs of any uuids.  What is the point of having an install option if it is then ignored.
    This refers to your fstab, not the bootloader config.
    Sorry hokasch, it got a bit difficult to answer your earlier post as by the time I read it Debian had been trashed and I think I had redone the Arch install a few times by then as well.
    If I have understand you correctly what you are saying is that if I were to install arch on a drive which at install time is the only drive in the machine then root(x,x) would refer to hd0 in my case root (hd0,1) as I have an NTFS partition at the beginning of the drive.  Alternatively I could just edit grub's menu.lst afterwards.  That way as long as the drive is first in the BIOS boot order it will boot ok.  My mistake seems to have been trying to install the first grub stage to somewhere other than the MBR, I may have missunderstood the capabilities of partition identification by uuid.
    Ok lets go back to a single drive environment
    hd0,0 = NTFS boot partition
    hd0,1 = Arch /Boot - this contains grub & vmlinuz-linux
    hd0,2 = Arch swap
    hd0,3 = Arch /
    If I want to boot Windows I set hd0,0 as active/bootable, if I want to boot arch I set hd0,1 as active/bootable.  Actually not sure how to change the active partition to a linux one but come back to that later.  For the moment hd0,1 is the bootable partition.  This is the only drive in the system.  I have a by-uuid entry in menu.lst which allows me to boot if the other entries fail.  menu.lst looks like this:
    # (0) Arch Linux
    title Arch Linux
    root (hd0,1)
    kernel /vmlinuz-linux root=/dev/sda4 ro
    initrd /initramfs-linux.img
    Now I see part of the confusion, as you advised, the root (hdx,x) line actually refers to the 'grub root' / 'linux boot' not the 'linux root'.  And the other confusion is that the kernel line root= does not refer to the location of /vmlinuz-linux but to the actual linux root.  Now I think I understand that bit.
    Now to add another disk to the system.  Change drive order in BIOS so that arch disk is top of the boot order.
    Fails to boot: Unable to find root device /dev/sda4!
    Boot to knoppix to see the disk & partition layout:
    hd0,0 = NTFS
    hd0,1 = NTFS
    hd0,2 = NTFS
    hd0,3 = NTFS
    hd0,4 = NTFS
    hd0,4 = NTFS
    hd0,4 = NTFS
    hd1,0 = NTFS boot partition
    hd1,1 = Arch /Boot - this contains grub & vmlinuz-linux
    hd1,2 = Arch swap
    hd1,3 = Arch /
    So clearly /dev/sda4 is now an NTFS partition.
    If appears that grub & linux do not see disk drives in the same order as the BIOS boot order causing /dev/sda4 to point towards the wrong partition.
    Off at a bit of a tangent here but while I think of it is there a way of regenerating the menu.lst to search for instances of windows on NTFS partitions now that I have access to ntfs-3g.
    Thanks,

  • Service Desk Unable to set status to Customer Action and Proposed Solution

    Hi Everyone,
    We are unable to set a service desk issue to the status Customer Action or Proposed solution.
    I have someone create a new issue in the bakend system and when I receive the issue I assign it to myself as the processor. When I try to set teh status to Customer action it is grayed out.
    I have checked the following:
    1. As a test I assigned My user with sap_all profile so does not appear to be authroisation related
    2. The status profile has all six standard values (New, customer action, In Process, Sent to SAP, Proposed Solution, Confirmed).
    3. The transaction types have been defined using the standard profiles for Text Det. Procedure, Partnet Determination Procedure, Status Profile. The Partner Function ORG is set to Sold-To-Party , The date profile is a SRV_SLA_ITEM and the Action profile is set to SLFN0001_ADVANCED. The Org Data Prof is set to a customer defined one: ZSSC000000001.
    4. I have checked transaction ppoma_crm and the org structure and my user is assigned to a team lead position.
    Your assistance is greatly appreciated.
    Michael

    Hi Michael,
    please check your status profile for the "lowest status no." and "highest status no." values of the status values as Alex mentioned!
    You can find this in SPRO under "SAP Solution Manager> Scenario-Specific Settings>Service Desk>Service Desk>Status Profile".
    If the "high" value of the status "New" is lower than the status number of status "Customer Action" than you can not set the message from "New" to "Customer Action"!
    Hope this helps,
    Christoph

  • Unable to set the selected value for a ADF LOV

    Hi,
    I am developing an application using jdeveloper 10.1.3 and Struts.
    I have created a ADF LOV on my JSP Page as given below:
    <html:select property="lob" onchange="javascript:selectLOB(this.form)">
    <html:optionsCollection label="prompt" value="index" property="lob.displayData"/>
    </html:select>
    When i submit the form, i am able to get the value of the selected Value in the List.
    JUCtrlListBinding listBinding = (JUCtrlListBinding) formBean.get("Lob");
    Row r = (Row) listBinding.getSelectedValue();
    String SoLob = (String) r.getAttribute("LobLob");
    But i am unable to set the selected value back in the list when i return to the form again.
    I tried the following:
    int x = listBinding.getSelectedIndex();
    listBinding.setSelectedIndex(x);
    It would be really helpful if some one could let me know what needs to be done.
    Thanks,
    Subashini

    Gyan,
    I tried with the code you suggest , its trying to set the value of a field, but my requirement is to change the property for
    "Rendered" on the field so that based on search parameters we can hide result table column.
    After searching online, I modified the controller code as follows
    1.Created a new transient attribute (Testrender) with type "Boolean" and always updateable.
    2.changed the "Rendered" property value on the field I want to hide as ${oa.PoSearchVO1.Testrender}.
    3. Modified the controller code as follows :
            OAApplicationModule am = pageContext.getApplicationModule(webBean);
            OAViewObject testvo = (OAViewObject)am.findViewObject("PoSearchVO1");
            OADBTransaction txn = am.getOADBTransaction();
            if (testvo != null)
              OARow row = (OARow)testvo.first();
                if (a.equalsIgnoreCase("Approved"))
                     row.setAttribute("Testrender", Boolean.FALSE);
                else
                     row.setAttribute("Testrender", Boolean.TRUE);
            } But now when i run the page and populate the search field and click "Go" its hiding the field but throwing the following error and the search results are also bad.
    Its using only the value of one search parameter but not the second one .
    The search cannot be executed because the table has pending changes that would be lost. I think the vo is getting dirty when I update the transient attribute value. So I used txn.rollback ,then search is working fine but its not hiding the field.
    So can you please let me know how to proceed from here ?

  • Do I need to change boot disk partition types - if so how?

    I set my boot disk up with several partitions, one of which is the Apple_UFS partition type. I now want to be able to use if for Mac data files - pdfs, word docs, etc. (I'm running 10.4.11 on a powerpc - when I can afford an Intel macbook, I'll upgrade to Leopard).
    I have some questions:
    1) Will puttting Mac files on a Apple_UFS volume cause problems (rsource & data forks in files)? (If its OK, then skip to Q6 &Q7 which I'd like to know for future reference).
    2) Should I change the partition type (to Apple_HFSX)? There's no data on it now, so that's not a problem.
    3) Disk Utility won't let me change partition type, only change the name. Diskutil has the command " eraseVolume format name device", but I suspect that format is the current format, not a new format - please correct me if I'm wrong.
    4) pdisk interactive mode has the "t" command which looks like what I want.
    5) after the partition type is changed, I presume I then need to use newfs_hfs -
    6) I am confused about the device/partition name - "diskutil -l" shows "/dev/disk0" with the partition I want to change as "disk0s11". "pdisk - l" shows "/dev/rdisk0" and the partition number as 11. The "newfs_hfs -h" gives an example of "newfs_hfs -v Untitled /dev/rdisk0s7". So in my case, is my device "/dev/rdisk0s11"??
    7) I have an external firewire drive that also is partitioned. "pdisk -l" and "diskutil list" give different outputs - partitions 1-9 are the same on both (Apple stuff), but pdisk show several "Apple_Free" partitions that diskutil ignores - pdisk has 23 total partitions, hdutil has 18. So which number do you use for the disk-identifier?
    Thanks for any help on this confusing matter.

    The regular versions of PSE 10 have the same kind of automatic updating (just go to Help>Updates and let the updater do its thing) that full Photoshop has. You can update the raw converter in the app store version, but since apple requires that everything in app store programs has to live within the app package itself, the file paths are different, so unless adobe updates the whole program so you can update through the app store, the adobe updater doesn't know what to do. You can do it manually, but it's kind of complicated to dig everything out of the adobe update, not as simple as it was in older versions of PSE.
    This thread over at the adobe forum gives you the general process for updating the app store version:

  • Unable to set a top-level property object

    Hey guys
    I've made a little sequence to fetch data from a XML file. In that XML file, there is some informations (entries) (IP addresses, port numbers, etc) about 4 different types of devices(sections are the devices names). The first section of the XML tells me the NAMES of the devices I have to configure. The type of each device is located in the entries of each device. Each device has its own information and I can have more than one device of a type. In teststand, I've created custom data types (containers with empty fields) for each type of device I need.
    I want to dynamically create the devices that the XML file tells me to configure as fileglobal variables and populate them with their own config informations (entries of the XML file). I'm creating new fileglobal of the type I want using PropertyObject step and I'm creating an alias of that fileglobal that I'm passing in parameter to a subsequence who's getting infos from XML. Here, everything is OK.
    The problem occurs when I want to configure 2 or more objects of the same type. At the SetProperty step (where i'm creating the fileglobal variable) teststand gives me the error:
    "Unable to set a top-level property object to another object. Error accessing item 'Parameters.DeviceToInitStruct'."
    Is there any ways to avoid that problem and creating to variable of the same type ?
    thanks

    Hi
    I finally got rid of that problem.
    Instead of using a PropertyObject.Clone step, I used a statement who's just copy the "MasterObject" into a "CloneObject" and i'm working with that copy. So the sequence can now create devices of the same type without any conflict with the first device.
    i'll post here a short example to show how i did... maybe it'll be useful for someone...
    regards

  • Unable to open windows using boot camp.  Get message "The bless tool was unable to set the current boot disk."  Any thoughts, Thank you.

    Unable to open windows using boot camp.  Get message "The bless tool was unable to set the current boot disk."   I am using an Imac , Lion operating system, and Windows 7.  It worked a few days ago.  Any thoughts, Thank you.

    Note that nowhere in the Boot Camp instructions does it tell you to use Disk Utility to format the Windows partition. The Boot Camp Assistant program creates the partition & sets the +partition scheme info+ of the disk as appropriate for the Windows installer but the Windows installer itself is responsible for formatting the new partition with the appropriate +file system scheme+ (NTFS for Windows 7).
    If you follow the instructions in the Boot Camp Installation & Setup Guide to the letter you should have no problems installing Windows.

    I'm installing windows 7 64-bit on my imac which I've done before but I get a message that the partition is GPT even after I format the bootcamp partition.  I just upgraded my hard drive to a 3tb and I'm allocating 1tb for windows. How can I fix this?

    No easy fix for a few reasons:
    1) Bootcamp requires a hybrid MBR for the partition table. That is: both an MBR and a GPT partition table at the same time with the GPT one having all partitions and the MBR one having only the ones that are relevant, but at most 4 of them (including the protective partition and the Macintosh HD one). Which leads us to:
    2) The MBR part of the hybrid partition table cannot work with 3TB hard drives. MBR is limited to 2TB.
    I am working on a small EFI app that can boot Windows in EFI mode on a Mac and that would mean that you can go GPT only on your system. The progress of the app is slow due to the nature of EFI and for now requires that you do an unattended Windows install with slipstreamed graphics drivers, but we are adding VGA loading on top of EFI quite soon after the rest of the app stabilises. The status of the app is documented at:
    Win7 x64 booting natively via EFI (no bios emulation)
    Windows does actually successfully boot in EFI mode on most Macs (anything with a 64bit EFI should work), but does not have graphics support even if you load the driver due to the VGA pci registers not being set by the firmware. Furthermore, in Setup and Safe Mode, Windows uses VGA instead of GOP which is a failure by design since VGA is a BIOS standard and not really compatible without hacks with EFI. Other EFI implementations also add VGA compatibility at a high cost to the firmware complexity for the VGA cards available on the market that don't actually contain anything in their ROM except the VGA BIOS.
    My recomendations:
    1) Install on a second smaller hard-drive; or
    2) Wait for the EFI app to come out officially and use that to boot Windows Vista SP1 x64 and Windows 7 x64 (RTM and SP1) in the native EFI mode.
    3) Wait for Windows 8 which supports VGA-less booting acording to the AMD presentation at UEFI Plugfest.

    So it looks like  solved it for now I will update later. What I did was after starting from the install cd for the 10.6 system I ran from terminal ran:
    diskutil disablejournaling /dev/disk0s2
    diskutil disableownership /dev/disk0s2
    diskutil repairPermissions /dev/disk0s2
    then i closed terminal and then when to disk utility and chose to repair disk with results all was fine. Then ran repair permissions and got similar results from terminal function next I erased disk and then chose to restore from time machine and it is now restoring! yea!

  • Setting webservice response content type / charset header

    I have a webservice .war file.
    I need to set the content-type/charset http header and add another http header. I wrote a filter to do that and had partial success. The other header (pics-label) is indeed sent in the response with the correct value. However, setting the content type proved to be another matter.
    I read through the documentation that one can set the system property weblogic.webservice.i18n.charset=utf-8. However, this doesn't seem to work. The filter setting the header also doesn't work. It seems that weblogic has the final word on that. Only when I set the <web-service> element attribute charset="UTF-8" does the header gets back to the client.
    Due to deployment/build related issues which I won't get into, this is most annoying.
    If anyone has encountered a similiar issue and have a solution/workaround/thoughts I'll be glad to hear about it.
    P.S.
    Also tried -Dfile.encoding=UTF-8 but didn't do any good.
    Thanks.

    you don't define a charset for non-text file types. Excel files are not text files.
