Unable to take online backup including logs with HP Data Protector - DB2 9.7 fixpack 8

Dear All,
Infrastructure : -
Database - IBM DB2 LUW 9.7 fixpack 8
OS - HP-UX 11.31
Backup solution - Data protector v7
OEM of tape library i.e. HP asked me to make changes in DB parameters with values as
--> LOGRETAIN to RECOVERY
--> USEREXIT to ON
--> LOGARCHMETH1 to USEREXIT
These parameters are used for activating online backup of Database (DB2 LUW 9.7 fixpack 8).
when backup is initiated from DP, backup happen successfully with option of excluding archive logs where as when we execute backup from DP(Data protector) with option including archive logs. Backup terminates with error.
SQL2428N The BACKUP did not complete because one or more of the requested log files could not be retrieved
Dear all need your expect help.
Thanks in advance.
Neeraj

  • Backup archive log with delete all input clause

    Our database is 10.2.0.3 RAC db and database server is window 2003.
    Our RMAN catalog db was down for a couple of weeks. During this two weeks period we use control file instead. But when I compare the log files before using control file and after going back to catalog db I found the following differences. I also pasted backup script below. It looks like that after we reuse the catalog db it is able to delete all archive logs as soon as it is backed up. The only change I can think of is one of the archive log destination is changed from F:\archive to G:\archive. This db has a physical standby db which is not up to date. Can you help me to figure out why this differences in the backup process since I am kind of worried if we bring the standby db up to date we will not be able to ship the archive log since they are deleted from the backup process. Thank you so much for your help. Shirley

    Shirley,
    If there was no change to the E: then the logs should have been kept (RMAN-8137) unless they were possibly aged out of the controlfile (unlikely since it defaults to 65K) or have been applied already. (The F: logs would have been marked as EXPIRED at the next crosscheck). Check to see which are EXPIRED:
    RMAN> list expired archivelog all;
    To see the earliest log:
    select sequence# from v$log_history where rownum <2;
    Have you checked the V$MANAGED_STANDBY to insure they were not already applied? Given that your latest rman log shows logs being deleted with no RMAN-8137 raised would indicate that they are not needed for the standby.

  • Unable to sync or backup my iPad2 with the new iTunes. I keep getting the error ""iTunes could not back up the iPad because the backup was corrupt or not compatible with the iPad.". I've deleted all the old backups but still get this.

    I'm totally frustrated by iTunes and don't know how to solve my problem. Like a lot of people on here I'm not able to sync or back up my iPad2 with my iTunes (version 10.4.1.10). I'm running Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit. My iTunes worked just fine until the 10.4.xx updates came out and since June I've not been able to back up or sync the iPad2.
    When I connect and try to sync I get the error message, “iTunes could not back up the iPad because the backup was corrupt or not compatible with the iPad.”
    I've deleted all the old backups so there are none on my system. I've deleted iTunes and re-installed the 64bit version several times but it has not made any difference. I've read and followed several suggestions on these boards about how to remove and reinstall everything but none have worked yet. I'm stumped here.

    I had the exact same thing with my shuffle - same error message saying that it was corrupt so I restored it (wiping everything in the process) and the same message came up as soon as it reloaded. Thank god I didn't try it with my iPod or iPhone first. So many issues with this new version of iTunes!!!!!!!!

  • How long does it take to wipe an iphone with 14gb data?

    I planned to sell my iphone 3g today so I thought I might as well gave the "wipe" feature a go last night after I had backed up my stuff. Almost 9 hours had passed now and my phone is still stuck at the Apple logo. Does anybody has experience with wiping their phones? Is this normal? I have tried everything to "wake" the phone like holding down the power key and pressing the power and home keys together. I don't suppose I can "fool" the second-hand phones trader with my phone in this state.
    By the way, my iphone is running 3.0 gold master.
    Roderick

    It should not take 9 hours or anywhere close to it.
    Have you tried placing your iPhone into recovery mode?
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808
    If successful, this will require restoring the iPhone with iTunes. If successful, I suggest installing the released 3.0 version instead of the gold master.

  • History log with LOGOUT date

    I need to get a table with login and logout date/time.
    In USR02 I find only the last login date/time.
    It seem that by the FM "sapwl_statrec_read_file" (from transaction STAT) I can inferred all the logins where I have TCOD empty and CUA_PROG = SAPMSSY0 / SAPMSYST (is it correct?).
    But I can't find traces about LOGOUT ...
    Have you any ideas?
    Thanks for the help

    Interesting question.. even though it was posted long back.
    I don't think there is any log stored for logoffs
    But debugging SAP shows that the function module SPH_R3_LOGOFF is called.
    If you are on ECC6 or a similar level server, you can create an enhancement in the function module and make an entry into some Z table.

  • AllOnl + Log with Verify endes with error

    Hi!
    We would to set up a online backup + redo logs with the verification function for SAP ERP (EHP4) system.
    By doing so we get a error within verification part of redo logs because of following RMAN commando.
    > BR0278E Command output of 'E:\oracle\<sid>\102\BIN\rman nocatalog':
    Unfortunately we do not need some RMAN checks.
    Question
    Is there some parameters in the init<sid>.sap that can remove this rman check within verifcation?
    Thank you!

    Can you check the value of backup_dev_type?
    How does your full brbackup command line look?
    Cheers Michael

  • SMB and ONline backup

    Hi,
    In Our R/3 environment, online backup is consisting with archived logs.
    Online Backup = DB Files + archived logs
    When getting the SMB backup and Online Backup (BRBACKUP), will that  going  to backup "Online Redo Logs"
    (Not Offline Redo logs - archived logs)
    When checking the logfile (Online backup) in  /oracle/PRD/sapbackup/beejdgaz.anf  , it shows the online redologs files also. (Just show, Not saying it is backing up)
    But when checking through DP, it is not mentioning that , Online Redo logs are backing up!
    I just want to know , for SMB and Online backups will that include Online REDO logs? Is it possible to backup these Online Redo Logs. Since they are currently in use
    regards,

    Hi,
    we are using:
    brbackup -t online -d util_file -c -m all -u
    brbackup issues below commands which will switch your online logs to offline.
    Switching to next online redo log file for database instance <SID> ...
    Switch to next online redo log file for database instance <SID> successful
    ARCHIVE LOG LIST after backup for database instance <SID>
    online logs to offline.
    That means, when time of getting the backup, current online redo logs will be taken in to offline mode. (As archived redo logs) ?
    then those archived logs will be backing up.
    Is that the way that happens.

  • Reg: Online Backup

    Hi all,
    We are using mssql database for our one of the BWP sysem. I am trying to take online backup through DB13. But i am not getting the online/offline options in DB13 callender. May i know the proper steps to schedule online backup through DB13.
    Advance thanks.
    with regards
    Harish

    Hello,
    backups through db13 are always online. A online backup is created through the execution of a backup database or backup log command during the runtime of the SQL Server. And this is exactly what the db13 is doing, it schedules a job (for later or immediately execution) with a backup database/log command.
    A offline backup can be done, when you shutdown the SQL Server (and of course the SAP system) and do a filecopy on system level. This can't be done through db13, as the SAP system is down in that time.

  • DB13 online backup restore

    I am taking daily online backup from DB13 with the option"database backup+redolog file" on a tape medium.If I want to restore this taken backup what is the procedure and commands to be used

    Hi Diego,
    Move to your sap backup folder and execute the following commands
    $ at now/usr/sap/SID/sys/exe/brrestore -c force -b -m fullc trl+d
    will give you the output at what time it is going to start. to check the job running or not
    $ ps -ef | grep br
    it will show the job which is running .....To recover online redologs, you  need to start your database in mount mode and execute the following command
    Recover database using backup controlfile until cancel;
    If you want to reset logs...
    Alter database open reset logs.
    Hope this helps you
    And also you can use brtools to restore instead of command level.
    Thanks
    Kishore

  • DSEE 7 online backup without password

    According to [Chapter 8 Directory Server Backup and Restore|http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/820-4809/bcaim?l=en&a=view]
    You can back up directory data while the server is running by using the command dsconf backup command.
    dsconf backup asks for a password. This is not good for cron job backup.
    # dsadm backup /ldap_instance /tmp/backup
    The instance must be stopped.
    dsadm export, also requires offline (ldif export)
    I managed to do online backup from dscc console but not from command line.
    Is there any other way to take online backups (while server is running) without password?
    Best regards,
    Giannis

    Hi Giannis,
    if you only want to create database backups and not ldif exports, you even do not need a read-all user. I was able to run dsconf backup after adding the following user / acis :
    dn: cn=backupuser,cn=config
    changetype: add
    cn: backupuser
    objectclass: top
    objectclass: person
    sn: Backup User
    description: custom service user for generating backups
    userpassword: <enter-password-here>
    dn:
    changetype: modify
    add: aci
    aci: (targetattr = "*") (target = "ldap:///cn=backup,cn=tasks,cn=config") (version 3.0; acl "Allow rsca access for user backupuser on cn=backup,cn=tasks,cn=config"; allow(read,search,compare,add) userdn = "ldap:///cn=backupuser,cn=config"; )
    aci: (targetattr = "objectclass || nsslapd-config-magic") (target = "ldap:///cn=config") (targetscope = "base") (version 3.0; acl "Allow rsc access for user backupuser"; allow(read,search,compare) userdn="ldap:///cn=backupuser,cn=config"; )I do not have anonymous read access enabled and I cross checked with a dsconf backup run as directory manager, the files were identical.
    If you also want to do ldif exports or database restores, the acis need to be adapted accordingly. Probably I will have a try and post my results later on.

    Jakob
