Unable to use session.setAttribute() method in oracle application server

i am creating a simple jsp page for two lines of code as
<%@ page language="java" session="true" %>
<% session.setAttribute("sam","sam"); %>
and deploying it in oracle 10g application server. when i am accessing that page, getting an error as
oracle.jsp.provider.JspCompileException:
Errors compiling: page url
Method setAttribute(java.lang.String, java.lang.String) not found in interface
javax.servlet.http.HttpSession. session.setAttribute("sam","sam");
can anybody give the solution???

Here is a diagnostic page which will tell you what version of JSP/Java etc you are using, the session Id, and where the session comes from.
The standard approach for session tracking is to use a browser "session cookie", using the standard name JSESSIONID.
Session cookies are different from standard cookies as they just remain in memory, and do not get stored to your hard drive. As such, They are not so easy to monitor. This page also uses javascript to show any cookies.
<h2> Server Info </h2>
Server info = <%= application.getServerInfo() %> <br>
Servlet engine version = <%=  application.getMajorVersion() %>.<%= application.getMinorVersion() %><br>
JSP version = <%= JspFactory.getDefaultFactory().getEngineInfo().getSpecificationVersion()  %> <br>
Java version = <%= System.getProperty("java.vm.version") %><br>
Session id = <%= session.getId() %><br>
From cookie = <%= request.isRequestedSessionIdFromCookie() %> <br>
<h3>javascript cookies</h3>
  <script>
    document.write(document.cookie);
  </script><br>What you described with the IE browsers sharing sessions when you start one from the other with "File:New Window" is the expected behaviour. All "child" windows of a browser share the same session. No, there is nothing you can do to stop this or affect this functionality.

  • How to use JavaMail 1.4 with Oracle Application Server 10g (9.0.4.0.0)

    Hi all,
    I'd like to know if it's possible and how to use JavaMail 1.4 with Oracle Application Server 10g (9.0.4.0.0), Windows version.
    With the following code, I can see that the mail.jar used by the server is the one included in the jdk installation :
    // I'm testing InternetAddress.class because I want to use commons-email-1.2.jar that requires mail.jar 1.4 (or higher) and activation.jar 1.1 (or higher)
    // and I know that inside the commons-email-1.2.jar file, I need to call the InternetAddress.validate() method that throws a java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: javax.mail.internet.InternetAddress.validate()V if it is used with mail.jar 1.2.
    Class cls = javax.mail.internet.InternetAddress.class;
    java.security.ProtectionDomain pDomain = cls.getProtectionDomain();
    java.security.CodeSource cSource = pDomain.getCodeSource();
    java.net.URL location = cSource.getLocation();
    System.out.println(location.toString());
    This code returns : file:/C:/oracle/app/jdk/jre/lib/ext/mail.jar and this mail.jar file has an implementation version number: 1.2
    - I've tried to include my own mail.jar (1.4.2) and activation.jar (1.1.1) files in the war file that I deploy, but it doesn't work (the server still uses the same mail.jar 1.2)
    - I've tried to put the mail.jar (1.4.2) and activation.jar (1.1.1) files in the applib directory of my OC4J instance, but it doesn't work (the server still uses the same mail.jar 1.2)
    - I know that a patch exists : I've read the following document: How to Make Libraries such as mail.jar and activation.jar Swappable ? [ID 552432.1]
    This article talks about the Patch 6514136, but this patch only applies to : Oracle Containers for J2EE - Version: 10.1.3.3.0
    Can you please help me ?
    Thanks in advance for your answers,
    Laurent

    I strongly suggest to upgrade to AS 10.1.3 to get this.
    Think of future support of AS 9.0.4. You will get not critical patch updates anymore.

  • Oracle Application Server 10.1.3.5 and SSL

    Hi,
    We want to use SSL in combination with Oracle Application Server 10.1.3.5. I installed Oracle Application Server 10.1.3.5 on Windows 2008R2 64 bit. After that I installed 64 bit java(jdk-6-26-windows-x64.exe) to run jvm in 64bit. I'm facing the following problem. The wallet manager won't run on Windows 2008R2 64bit because we're using 64bit jdk. There is also a commandline version; mkwallet. When I start this up it says "Oracle Wallet Commandline tool for 32bit Windows" I also can't create a certificate or certificate request. When I install a 32bit java version I also get a different JAVA_HOME, and that I don't want.
    What if I install Oracle Application Server 10.1.3.5 on a 32bit OS and use there also a 32bit jdk, then use wallet manager to generate a certificate? Can I than use this wallet on the 64bit windows and 64bit jdk?
    What other options are there available in this situation to use SSL? Is for example keytool from java an option?
    Kind regards,
    Herman

    Hi,
    Here an update on this situation. I installed Oracle SOA Suite 10.1.3.5 on Windows 2008r2 64bit in a seperate environment. After that I installed the 32bit version of the jdk we used in the test and production environment. In the seperate environment I can startup Oracle Wallet Manager. Here I created a certificate request and then import the reply certificates from the CA. Then the wallet says "Certificate ready". In the directory where the wallet is, I put the certificate request, and the reply certificates. After that I copy the wallet-directory to the test environment(with a 64bit jdk) and in the ssl.conf file I point to the copied wallet-directory. After a restart of the app-server I got SSL.

  • Configuring Oracle Application Server to use a user friendly url

    Hi All,
    I am having trouble configuring the apache httpd.conf file within an applicaton server to be able to use user-friendly urls for the infrastructure identity management tools server. I also need this for security reasons as well as hardware reasons - loadbalancing.
    At the moment I have a standard setup, whereby the sso application server is using port 7777. I would like the user not to enter the port, but to enter just a standard url, like http://login.<company>.com.au, so that if the user needs to modify oid using the oiddas web application, they can enter something like http://login.<company>.com.au/oiddas/ rather than http://<machine host name>:7777/oiddas/. This would also be used by portal for sso logins.
    From the standard installation, Apache was configured as follows:
    Port 7777
    Listen 7777
    ServerName <machine host name>
    DocumentRoot <root document folder>
    Now reading the documentation from the Oracle Application Server Installation notes for the Http Server, they document how to do this (in the loadbalancer section - this will eventually be used in the hardware setup):
    Port 80
    Listen 7777
    Listen 80
    # Virtual Hosts
    # This section is mandatory for URLs that are generated by
    # the PL/SQL packages of the Oracle Portal and various other components
    # These entries dictate that the server should listen on port
    # 7777, but will assert that it is using port 80, so that
    # self-referential URLs generated specify www.oracle.com:80
    # This will create URLs that are valid for the browser since
    # the browser does not directly see the host server.oracle.com.
    NameVirtualHost <machine ip>:7777
    <VirtualHost <nameofmachine>:7777>
    ServerName login.<company>.com.au
    Port 80
    </VirtualHost>
    # Since the previous virtual host entry will cause all links
    # generated by the Oracle Portal to use port 80, the server.company.com
    # server needs to listen on 80 as well since the Parallel Page
    # Engine will make connection requests to Port 80 to request the
    # portlets.
    NameVirtualHost <machine ip>:80
    <VirtualHost <nameofmachine>:80>
    ServerName login.<company>.com.au
    Port 80
    <VirtualHost>
    Note that I used slightly different names for the url's rather than the oracle names www.oracle.com and server.oracle.com
    Now after applying this, I noticed not only could I not go to the oiddas from the original machine name, but also couldnt go there from the new machine name.
    Also I was not even able to go to the standard index page whereby you can go to the enterprise manager for the application server, from either names.
    The following urls provide me with "The Page Cannot Be Displayed" error message:
    http://login.<company>.com.au:7777/
    http://<nameofmachine>:7777/
    The following urls provide me with "Page Under Construction" error message:
    http://login.<company>.com.au/
    http://<nameofmachine>/
    Could someone please tell me why this is the case, considering I am using the installation procedures Oracle has published within the Oracle Http Server Admistrators Guide (http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_19/web.1012/b14007/netconf.htm#sthref379).
    Cheers
    Rodney

    Hi Rondey,
    Ik think that I can see your probleem.
    Just change the following line at your httpd.conf, then restart the component.
    First of all if the port is installed with nr. 7777. then the listen process will be on port 7778
    the second thing is just try to do the following steps
    ((Port 80 to Port 7777)))
    Listen 7778
    %%%% In loadbalancer section %%%%%%
    just add the following lines
    Listen 80
    Listen 8103
    Listen 8102
    NameVirtualHost *
    NameVirtualHost *:8103 or 80
    If you want to use this ports (8103 or 8102) for other site (url), then
    <VirtualHost *:80>
    ServerName <machine ip> or (host name)
    Hear from U,

    Hi,
    I have not experience with Oracle Names resolution, but did you start the server "NAMESCTL> START" ? (I'm not sure)
    On the client, the SQLNET.ORA file contains an entry that lists onames first in the NAMES.DIRECTORY_PATH parameter ?
    e.g.: NAMES.DIRECTORY_PATH=(onames, tnsnames, hostname)
    There are some messages on the listener.log file ?

  • Unale to print pdf files in oracle application server using oracle forms

    Hi
    We are using oracle developer suite 10g(10.1.2.3.0) in Windows vista. (test environment)
    Oracle application server 10g(10.1.2.3.0) in Hp-UX 11iv3 (production environment)
    We are able to print pdf files in test environment from oracle forms using the below command:
    host('/usr/bin/lp -d p9775hplaser '||'/ashome/output/'||:print_file);
    But while declaring to the live environment it is not working
    host('cat '||:pdf_print_file||' | acroread -toPostScript | /usr/bin/lp -dp9775hplaser');
    but when the above command is put in hp-ux cmd prompt it is workinh"'cat '||:pdf_print_file||' | acroread -toPostScript | /usr/bin/lp -dp9775hplaser'";
    Kind ly tell me whether the problem i with the host command and some other command is available for printing files from forms.

    Here is my guess:
    declare
    AppID PLS_INTEGER;
    begin
    AppID := DDE.App_Begin('acroread -toPostScript '||file name,DDE.APP_MODE_MINIMIZED);
    end;

  • Creating reports using oracle application server

    Hello All,
    I am a complete newbie with Oracle Application Server(OAS) and Oracle reports. My task is to generate HTML and PDF reports using OAS. The current application has a aspx pages(ASP.NET as front end) which calls a third party tool Fast Radar Report which fetches data as per the user need(like month, day, year, product name....) and displays it in a grid format. I have to remove the FastRadar part and use OAS's OracleAS Reports Services components to generate those reports
    I went through chapter 12 of Oracle.Application.Server.10g.Essentials by OReilly 2004 edition
    It briefly glances through that part. But, it seems to mention about Oracle Reports something like "Oracle Reports has a wizard-based frontend called Oracle Reports Developer that can build reports. Oracle Reports Developer is part of the Oracle Developer Suite. The reports created with Oracle Reports Developer can be deployed to the Web using OracleAS Reports Services support in Oracle Application Server."
    I am unclear what to do. Do I need to create the report format in Oracle Reports using wizard-based frontend called Oracle Reports Developer and then deploy it using OracleAS Reports Services?
    Or, is there a way to create the report format using OracleAS Reports Services without using Oracle Reports. I am told we have just OAS installed, don't know if Oracle reports is installed or not as it is done on a remote site.
    Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks a lot.

    Hi,
    One has to develop reports using Oracle Reports developer and then has to deploy it into the application server. To do so you need the Oracle developer suite installed, this has wizards which can be used to develop reports.
    This link might help you http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/reports/index.html.

    trying to direct calls within the oracle application server to the IIS using reverse proxy. I am having problems...
    What is trying to be achieved is a call to the 3rd party web server (IIS with Oracle SSO plug-in) that will be invoked from the OAS.
    Any suggestions

    First you might get more response if you move your question to following forum:
    Oracle Application Server - General
    Second, I didn't quite understand your question. Can you pl. clarify it bit more? What exactly do you mean by invoking IIS from OAS (I am assuming by OAS you mean OC4J here)?

  • Two Instances of Oracle Application Server 10.1.3.x using the same DB

    I can't seem to find any documentation about installing two instances of Oracle Application Server 10.1.3.x using the same database.
    Would the two instances conflict? Should I create a separate database for each instance? I am attempting to cluster two application servers and I want to know if I will need multiple databases, I can't see a reason why this would be a problem.
    Any advice on this matter would be appreciated.

    You have probably downloaded the wrong version.
    Do not download the Oracle SOA Suite 10g (10.1.3.5.1) for WebLogic Server (10.3.1),
    but the one below that option: Oracle SOA Suite 10g (10.1.3.x)
    See if you get something like the following zip file: soa_windows_x86_101310_disk1.zip
    This is just the OC4J without the WebLogic Server.
