Unable to View SQL query

Hi, I was trying to view the SQL of a crystal report connected to Oracle11 DB via native connection. But the "show SQL option " under database menu is greyed out. can someone please let me know the reasons behind this greying out of the option . Is there any way I can view the query of this report??

Thank You for the quick response. The report is created on a single table . This table's fields are placed in the subreport which is placed at the footer section of the Main report. The main report just holds the column header. I hope its clear.

  • Unable to view SQL Server Agent while logged in as user

    Hello Everyone,
    I have granted SQLAgentUserRole permission to one of the user and using enterprise edition of SSMS. still user is not able to view SQL Server Agent. Any help will be greatly appriciated.

    There is no Enterprise Edition of SSMS. There is SSMS Basic and SSMS Complete. Prior to 2012 sp1, only SSMS Basic were available with Express Edition - but as of 2012 sp1 Expredd also offers SSMS Complete. SSMS Complete is selected bu default when you install
    SSMS (unless you are prior to 2012 sp1 and are using Express, of course).
    However, even SSMS Basic *should* show Agent assuming you have permissions for that. This is hearsay, but from trusted sources. Here is what to do:
    Check what is installed for the machine from where you are running SSMS. You can do that using SQL Server Installation Center - see this blog post: http://sqlblog.com/blogs/tibor_karaszi/archive/2011/02/10/what-does-this-express-edition-look-like-anyhow.aspx
     (towards the end).
    On that machine try both this problematic account as well as an account which is sysadmin. Does the sysadmin account see Agent? If so, you know permissions aren't granted properly. If not, then you know the tool is the problme.
    Also try the problematic account from a machine where you know you see Agent normally. Again, this will help you assess whether the problem is the tool (SSMS) or permissions for the account.

  • Unable to view SQL Request in Log files

    Hi Folks,
    I am facing an issue which I am unable to find out the solution to view the physical query generated in log files in Presentation Services.
    Below is the SQL Request generated but I want to view the exact physical query i.e SQL Request which is hitting DB.
    So please guiude me to resolve this issue, I guess it is because of Initialization blocks created which is blocking to view the SQL request.
    -------------------- SQL Request:
    set variable LOGLEVEL = 7;SELECT "- Policy Effective-Start Date"."Start Quarter" saw_0, "- Insurance Policy Facts".Revenue saw_1, "- Insurance Policy Facts"."# Insurance Policies" saw_2, "Insurance Policy".Status saw_3, "Insurance Policy".Type saw_4 FROM "Insurance Policies" WHERE ("Insurance Policy".Type = 'Policy') AND ("- Policy Effective-Start Date"."Start Julian Day Number" BETWEEN VALUEOF(CURRENT_JULIAN_DAY)-365 AND VALUEOF("CURRENT_JULIAN_DAY")) ORDER BY saw_0, saw_3, saw_4

    The optimizer has, well, optimized out the row_number because you never refer to its value in the outermost query.
    sql>select deptno, cnt, row_number() over (order by cnt desc) rn
      2    from (select deptno, count(*) cnt
      3            from emp
      4           group by deptno);
       DEPTNO       CNT        RN
           30         6         1
           20         5         2
           10         3         3
    3 rows selected.
    -- here because we include rn in the outermost query,
    -- the results are still ordered based on the analytical function result
    sql>select deptno, cnt, rn
      2    from (select deptno, cnt, row_number() over (order by cnt desc) rn
      3            from (select deptno, count(*) cnt
      4                    from emp
      5                   group by deptno));
       DEPTNO       CNT        RN
           30         6         1
           20         5         2
           10         3         3
    3 rows selected.
    -- but if we don't include rn in the outermost query,
    -- the optimizer leaves out the window sort and the results are in a different order
    sql>select deptno, cnt
      2    from (select deptno, cnt, row_number() over (order by cnt desc) rn
      3            from (select deptno, count(*) cnt
      4                    from emp
      5                   group by deptno));
       DEPTNO       CNT
           10         3
           20         5
           30         6
    3 rows selected.This just reinforces the point that if you want your results in a particular order, you need to provide an ORDER BY clause - don't rely on execution plans to do your sorting for you.

  • Unable to view SQL Instance when install SP2

    Hello All,
    I am trying to update my version of SQL 2012 (Build 11.0.3128) to at least CU2, however whenever I try and run any update package (even up to SP2), I am unable to see my instance to upgrade. I can only see shared features. I am using a Named Instance.
    SQL is running as expected, browser etc all are only and can be queried.
    Am I missing something?
    Thanks in advance,

    My question is how to use single parameter value that should go in the multiple positions in the SQL.
    Please suggest if this can archived either in the Discoverer Admin / Desktop in detail.
    Regards,
    Chiranjeevi Meda

    Hi,
    The only way you can use SQL with a connect by in Discoverer is to either put the SQL in a view or put the SQL in a custom folder. Either way you will not be able to pass parameter directly from Desktop/Plus to the view or custom folder.
    The solution probably is to use session parameters and replace the :p_organization_id in the 3 positions with SYS_CONTEXT('DISCO_CONTEXT', 'ORGANIZATION_ID') once you have defined your DISCO_CONTEXT namespace and ORGANIZATION_ID session parameter.
    See these threads for more information. (Re: Passing multiple parameters into Custom Folder... http://learndiscoverer.blogspot.com/2008/11/metalink-note-304192.html)

  • Unable to view table list in sql developer

    I am able to connect to the database through sql developer but unable to view tables list.
    Select query is displaying the contents though.
    Any Help ???

    Using SQL Developer, I log in using the owner user id and password. I can see all but one of my materialized views. It was definitely created by the user id I'm logged in as. A query of user_objects in sql+ shows all MVs, including the one that's missing in SQL Developer. If I log in using the same credentials in TOAD, the MV is displayed in the current schema, as I'd expect. The super weird thing is that if I use the previous version of SQL Developer, I see that MV! Any thoughts?

  • Unable to view custom folders (SQL)

    Hello
    I've created an sql folder in "The Discoverer V5 EUL" BA.
    Desktop users are unable to view and use reports based on the sql folder, although complex folder are available.
    also, sql folders on other BA's are available
    can someone advise?

    Hi,
    Try creating a view in the DB with the sql query, make a folder out of it and see if it works.
    My guess is that the tables that you refer in the sql query might not be available in the schema of that particular BA.
    Or are all your BA in the same schema??
    Thanks.

  • How to view the sql query?

    hi,
      how to view the sql query formed from the xml structure in the receiver jdbc?

    You can view SAP Note at
    http://service.sap.com/notes
    But you require SMP login ID for this which you should get from your company. The content of the notes are as follows:
    Reason and Prerequisites
    You are looking for additional parameter settings. There are two possible reasons why a feature is available via the "additional parameters" table in the "advanced mode" section of the configuration, but not as documented parameter in the configuration UI itself:
    Category 1: The parameter has been introduced for a patch or a SP upgrade where no UI upgrade and/or documentation upgrade was possible. In this case, the parameter will be moved to the UI and the documentation as soon as possible. The parameter in the "additional parameters" table will be deprecated after this move, but still be working. The parameter belongs to the supported adapter functionality and can be used in all, also productive, scenarios.
    Category 2. The parameter has been introduced for testing purposes, proof-of-concept scenarios, as workaround or as pre-released functionality. In this case, the parameter may or may not be moved to the UI and documentation, and the functionality may be changed, replaced or removed. For this parameter category there is no guaranteed support and usage in productive scenarios is not supported.
    When you want to use a parameter documented here, please be aware to which category it belongs!
    Solution
    The following list shows all available parameters of category 1 or 2. Please note:
    Parameter names are always case-sensitive! Parameter values may be case-sensitive, this is documented for each parameter.
    Parameter names and values as documented below must be used always without quotaton marks ("), if not explicitly stated otherwise.
    The default value of a parameter is always chosen that it does not change the standard functionality
    JDBC Receiver Adapter Parameters
    1. Parameter name: "logSQLStatement"
                  Parameter type: boolean
                  Parameter value: true for any string value, false only for empty string
                  Parameter value default: false (empty String)
                  Available with: SP9
                  Category: 2
                  Description:
                  When implementing a scenario with the JDBC receiver adapter, it may be helpful to see which SQL statement is generated by the JDBC adapter from the XI message content for error analysis. Before SP9, this can only be found in the trace of the JDBC adapter if trace level DEBUG is activated. With SP9, the generated SQL statement will be shown in the details page (audit protocol) of the message monitor for each message directly.
                  This should be used only during the test phase and not in productive scenarios.

  • How to build sql query for view object at run time

    Hi,
    I have a LOV on my form that is created from a view object.
    View object is read-only and is created from a SQL query.
    SQL query consists of few input parameters and table joins.
    My scenario is such that if input parameters are passed, i have to join extra tables, otherwise, only one table can fetch the results I need.
    Can anyone please suggest, how I can solve this? I want to build the query for view object at run time based on the values passed to input parameters.
    Thanks
    Srikanth Addanki

    As I understand you want to change the query at run time.
    If this is what you want, you can use setQuery Method then use executeQuery.

  • Passing an argument in the SQL Query of a View Object

    Hi,
    It is possible that this question has been asked before, however I have searched for a half an hour in the forums and couldn't find a solution.
    I am also new to using JDeveloper and ADF. Here's the situation:
    I am developing an application that doesn't have to do anything else then displaying data from a database. Pretty straightforward actually.
    Now I have made a vew pages with several collapsible panels (af:showDetailHeader) and have setup the datasources (or so I thought).
    All that remains is:
    - drag & drop a view object, from the application module that I created, onto the collabsible panels, so a child element gets created which displays data from the database.
    - hack the layout so it looks like I want it to.
    The problem that I have is the following:
    I am using a 'User'-class that contains values I need when quering the database.
    That User-object is part of a user-session.
    What I want, for example, is to use the 'getPersonId()' function of that User-object and pass the argument to a SQL-query of a certain view-object.
    The query would become something like:
    'SELECT * FROM people WHERE people.personId = :someNumber'.
    Now I've read some stuff about variable binding, which is complemented by something like (backing bean code):
    getDBTransaction().getRootApplicationModule().getACertainViewObject().setWhereClauseParameter(1, user.getPersonId());
    The examples I have found that might match my wishes are not using business components, but EJB's. I am having difficulty with understanding the 'how'-part of variable binding.
    Also, I do not know enough of ADF to be able to create a situation like:
    'User loads page, collapsible panel 1 is fully shown, the others are undisclosed.'
    (meaning, that for panel1 a query has been executed.)
    'User clicks on collapsible panel 2 which triggers a backingbean that somehow retrieves data from a view object'.
    I would appreciate any help that somebody can give.
    If it is not too much of a problem, please provide code snippets in case you have a solution. I am new to ADF :(.
    -edit
    I am using JDeveloper 10.1.3.3.0 in case that is of any importance.

    Hello Stijn,
    I didn't think about a referenced bean rule in the faces-config.
    I added it right away and I am now able to set parameters of a View-object, not using a page button and before the page loads. You made my day!
    In case anyone ever reads this post again, the summary of how to generate a table based on a View-object using dynamic parameters.:
    1a: Go to faces-config.xml -> Overview tab'
    1b: Go to the menuitem "Referenced Beans"
    1c: Click on 'new' and select the existing bean you want to access data from and input a name. In this example I use name="user"
    2: Create a View-object using the wizard.
    2a: Specify the query you want in the menuitem 'SQL Statement'.
    Add the 'parameters' you want to. You will have something like:
    "SELECT * FROM someTable WHERE table.columnname LIKE :someArgument".
    - hint: if you want the result to become something like:
    "SELECT * FROM someTable WHERE table.columnname LIKE '%someArgument%'" then you have to add the '%'-characters in your code itself (read: someClass.setParameter("%" + someArgument);).
    2b: In the menuitem 'Bind Variables' you have to add the variables you are referring to in the query. If you look at the query in 2a, then you have to add a variable with name "someArgument".
    2c: Add the View-object to a Application Module (create one if nessecairy).
    3a: Open a .jsp(x) file. Drag the View-object created in step 2 from the 'Data Controls'-pane to the page.
    3b: Click on the '+' of the View-object in the 'Data Controls'-pane and open 'Operations' and drag 'ExecuteWithParams' to your page as a button.
    3c: We do not want to use a button, the action has to be executed immediatly. So In the page source remove the lines that were created after dropping 'ExecuteWithParams'.
    3d: Right-click on the page and select "Go to Page Definition".
    3e: Go to the action id that is called 'ExecuteWithParams#', where # is a number.
    Change the id to something useful.
    3f: Change the NDValue so it corresponds with the value you want.
    Example:
    <action id="getAddressData" IterBinding="AddressesView1Iterator"
    InstanceName="MyHRServiceModuleDataControl.AddressView1"
    DataControl="MyHRServiceModuleDataControl" RequiresUpdateModel="true" Action="95">
    <NamedData NDName="someArgument" NDType="java.lang.String"
    NDValue="#{user.personId}"/>
    </action>
    Note: It is possible to use the value of a Backing Bean in NDValue.
    Note 2: user is the bean I referred to in the faces-config.xml!
    3g: Under the executables item, add an 'invokeAction' to pass the parameter to the View-object before your JSP-file loads:
    <executables>
    <invokeAction Binds="getAddressData"
    id="loadAddressDataOfPersonIdInSession"
    Refresh="prepareModel"/>
    Thank Stijn Haus for this :)

  • Using IN keyword in an sql query in a view criteria

    Hi,
    I am using jdev 11.1.1.1.0 and defined an lov query/viewobject as
    select a, b, c from myTable
    I now need to predefine filtering for lov search functionality and need something like the following
    select a, B, c from myTable where B in ('X','Y')
    I could not find a way to do it (i.e. specify the use of IN Keyword) in the Create View Criteria dialog box. I tried to define OR, but is that the best way to redefine IN as i have a long list (the above is just an example)
    (( ( (UPPER(B_FLAG) = UPPER('X') ) ) OR ( (UPPER(DISPLAY_FLAG) = UPPER('Y') ) ) ))

    If you know how many variables are in your "in" You can just write this in the sql query of your VO:

    how can i do that? i didnt find the place where i can write the sql manually...

    Not in BMM layer but you can achieve this in Physical layer.
    In physical layer --> Create New Physical Table --> select table type as Select
