Unannounced service call questions?

Just a quickie post asking for help. Not sure if this is the place to post this: 1 - Around May, 2015 I had a Comcast truck / technician show up at my home 2 - He said he rang the doorbell and no one answered - I was home 3 - He started to check my cable end's for signal strength when I walked up to him in the back yard. 4 - He said the call was put in the system automatically because the line was having problems 5 - The line / internet / signals have been fine 6 - The day before I did disconnect the cable from the modem from the firewall (PFSense - servicing the firewall) 7 - It was disconnected by me for one hour - plugged it back in after I was done and all was well. 8 - I talked to the service technician and asked why I wasn't called prior to the visit. 9 - He did not have an answer. 10 - None the less he said he would be upgrading my cable as it was over 10 years old - I said that was great. 11 - He replace the old cable with new cable - tested it OK (well old cable tested OK) 12 - Before he left he said the cable would be buried before the end of June, 2015 13 - It has been a bit difficult to have to move the cable whenever the grass was cut. 30 days it was OK but now its been an endeavor. 14 - I called Comcast support and told them my issue. Support opened a ticket and told me that the call was for Fri (July 3, 2015) from 8 AM to 8 PM. 15 - At 5 PM called Comcast support as no one had shown up. Customer service person told me someone would be there before 8 PM. 16 - Around 7 PM two service techs came. They told me the burial job had been missed. 17 - I asked when it would be done and they did not know. That and they said that customer service can not schedule their work. I am posting here because I do not know now when the line will be buried nor whom to call about it. It is causing issues having to move it every time the grass is cut. We have no fences here and folks are always walking neighbour to neighbour between yards. I am concerned that one elderly retired neighbor will trip over the wire. What can I do or where do I call for completion of the burial of the wire?

Thank you ComcastZach. Signal noise is reported back to us via a program set up to monitor for it. When too much is present, a tech is dispatched out to correct the issue. Signal noise isn't always noticeable to you. It can cause service issues sure, however there are times you don't even know it's happening. That is good to know as I do use the internet 24/7 and mostly let the firewall and services running monitor the quality of the signal and it's been good for me and I do not pay much attention to it. I am in to weather these days and have gone to downloading weather maps directly from the NOAA satellites mostly as a learning experience but too as a means of getting my weather map stuff direct. For the line bury, there is a job scheduled for 7/13 to come get that done. If that does not happen for some reason, let me know so I can get that escalated for you. Thank-you ComcastZach. Can you please ask to have the lightning arrestor in the ground stake reconnected or replaced? - Pete

Weblogic app server wsdl web service call with SSL Validation error = 16
I need to make wsdl web service call in my weblogic app server. The web service is provided by a 3rd party vendor. I keep getting error
Cannot complete the certificate chain: No trusted cert found
Certificate chain received from ws-eq.demo.xxx.com - xx.xxx.xxx.156 was not trusted causing SSL handshake failure
    Validation error = 16
From the SSL debug log, I can see 3 verisign hierarchy certs are correctly loaded (see 3 lines in the log message starting with “adding as trusted cert”). But somehow after first handshake, I got error “Cannot complete the certificate chain: No trusted cert found”.
Here is how I load trustStore and keyStore in my java program:
         System.setProperty("javax.net.ssl.trustStore",”cacerts”);
         System.setProperty("javax.net.ssl.trustStorePassword", trustKeyPasswd);
         System.setProperty("javax.net.ssl.trustStoreType","JKS");
    System.setProperty("javax.net.ssl.keyStoreType","JKS");
    System.setProperty("javax.net.ssl.keyStore", keyStoreName);
         System.setProperty("javax.net.ssl.keyStorePassword",clientCertPwd);      System.setProperty("com.sun.xml.ws.transport.http.client.HttpTransportPipe.dump","true");
Here is how I create cacerts using verisign hierarchy certs (in this order)
1.6.0_29/jre/bin/keytool -import -trustcacerts -keystore cacerts -storepass changeit -file VerisignClass3G5PCA3Root.txt -alias "Verisign Class3 G5P CA3 Root"
1.6.0_29/jre/bin/keytool -import -trustcacerts -keystore cacerts -storepass changeit -file VerisignC3G5IntermediatePrimary.txt -alias "Verisign C3 G5 Intermediate Primary"
1.6.0_29/jre/bin/keytool -import -trustcacerts -keystore cacerts -storepass changeit -file VerisignC3G5IntermediateSecondary.txt -alias "Verisign C3 G5 Intermediate Secondary"
Because my program is a weblogic app server, when I start the program, I have java command line options set as:
    -Dweblogic.security.SSL.trustedCAKeyStore=SSLTrust.jks
    -Dweblogic.security.SSL.ignoreHostnameVerification=true
    -Dweblogic.security.SSL.enforceConstraints=strong
That SSLTrust.jks is the trust certificate from our web server which sits on a different box. In our config.xml file, we also refer to the SSLTrust.jks file when we bring up the weblogic app server.
In addition, we have working logic to use some other wsdl web services from the same vendor on the same SOAP server. In the working web service call flows, we use clientgen to create client stub, and use SSLContext and WLSSLAdapter to load trustStore and keyStore, and then bind the SSLContext and WLSSLAdapter objects to the webSerive client object and make the webservie call. For the new wsdl file, I am told to use wsimport to create client stub. In the client code created, I don’t see any way that I can bind SSLContext and WLSSLAdapter objects to the client object, so I have to load certs by settting system pramaters. Here I attached the the wsdl file.
I have read many articles. It seems as long as I can install the verisign certs correctly to web logic server, I should have fixed the problem. Now the questions are:
    1.     Do I create “cacerts” the correct order with right keeltool options?
    2.     Since command line option “-Dweblogic.security.SSL.trustedCAKeyStore” is used for web server jks certificate, will that cause any problem for me?
    3.     Is it possible to use wsimport to generate client stub that I can bind SSLContext and WLSSLAdapter objects to it?
    4.     Do I need to put the “cacerts” to some specific weblogic directory?

I received a workaround by an internal message.
The how to guide is :
-Download the wsdl file (with bindings, not the one from ESR)
-Correct it in order that the schema corresponds to the answer (remove minOccurs or other things like this)
-Deploy the wsdl file on you a server (java web project for exemple). you can deploy on your local
-Create a new logicial destination that point to the wsdl file modified
-Change the metadata destination in your web dynpro project for the corresponding model and keep the execution desitnation as before.
Then the received data is check by the metadata logical destination but the data is retrieved from the correct server.

  • Web service call - works locally but not on mobile?

    Hi,
I have a web service call (the service is hosted on the cloud so it's an external, permamnent domain) which works fine when I'm testing it locally using the Flex Buritto built in emulator or directly using my browser.
But when trying from an android phone (tried a few of them - nexus one, nexus s and galaxy tab) the service is being called but never returns anything.
Is there a good way to trace to call / understand the problem?
    Thanks,
    Nir

Oh. well that would explain alot of it. its not a stupid question we are all learning. You have to put a crossdomain xml in server on the root directory. there are alot of different ways to implement it.
this should point you on the right direction.
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/articles/crossdomain_policy_file_spec.html
here is a very basic format basically allowing anyone to call my service.
    <?xml version="1.0"?>
    <!DOCTYPE cross-domain-policy
      SYSTEM "http://www.macromedia.com/xml/dtds/cross-domain-policy.dtd">
    <cross-domain-policy>
      <allow-access-from domain="*" />
    </cross-domain-policy>

  • Initiating BPM Process Instances from External Web Service Call

I'm attempting to update the HelloWorld example so that I can create an instance of the process from an External Web Services Call rather than via the Workspace. Our current SOA Architecture is configured so that all BPM instances are managed through a .NET SmartClient via the Service Bus and the use of PAPI W/S and so I'm wishing to recreate this capability in the new BPM.
I understand the replacement for PAPI W/S is Human Workflow so I've therefore updated and republished the HelloWorld Example with an Exposed 'TaskService' Service for the Human Task within the BPM Process.
I've then attempted to reference the TaskService through our existing BPM, and have been able to import a number of generic WSDL's as follows:
    Task Service
    http://vmaquatestapp2:7001/integration/services/TaskService/TaskServicePort?WSDL
    Task Metadata Service
    http://vmaquatestapp2:7001/integration/services/TaskMetadataService/TaskMetadataServicePort?WSDL
    Task Query Service
    http://vmaquatestapp2:7001/integration/services/TaskQueryService/TaskQueryService?WSDL
When I examine the available operations for these generic services, there are quite a lot, each of which have a fairly complex schema. I believe I should be using the TaskService: InitiateTask Operation to create an instance of my BPM Process but my questions are:
    - Is the above the correct method of interacting with BPM Instances from an external system such as the Service Bus?
    - Does anyone have any examples of a basic XML payload that would initiate a process instance?

I created an process with a message start event and can call it from an external web service call. I can also pass input arguments and map those to process data objects. However I can not find how to return data as response to the external web service call as e.g. the process instance id.
    Is it possible to this?

  • Making Web Service calls from a Form in the WorkSpace

I am getting conflicting information about this, so I hope someone here could clarify it. TIA.
This is what I want to do:
after a form is displayed/launched in the WorkSpace,
when the user Tabs out of a field (Exit event) on the form,
I want to make a Web Service call from the form,
get the result from the WebService,
and use the Result to populate another field on the form.
I know for certain that this works if I Reader-Extend the form,
and I set the JavaScript at the Exit event (to execute WebService call)
    as "Run At Client".
    The question is:
can I make the WebService calls without Reader-Extending the form???
I have been told that, yes you can,
but *only if* you let the JavaScript "Run At Server".
I tried that, but it caused the Reader to crash.
    Some other people told me,
    no you can not,
even if you "Run At Server", the form still needs to be Reader-Extended,
when using it in the WorkSpace environment.
So, what is the truth? can someon tell me?
Can I make WebServers calls from the Server-side at all?
Do I really need to Reader-Extend the form even if calling it from server side?
What exactly is it SUPPOSED to work?
    thanks

yes, thank you both. I got the fix from Adobe Tech Support last week. It's working.
The fix I got included a rather complex looking "Submit Service" though. Makes me wonder how a regular user would know that he needs to write such a Submit Service?? and even if he knows that he needs a special Submit Service, would he know how to write it??? I found no documentation for this type of things either.
Shouldn't this solution be published somewhere in Adobe's website? Dev Lab perhaps?

  • How to display success message after Remote service call

    Hi ,
I am currently using Flex form for adding/updating user
personal details. On submit button click ,i am submitting details to
server by calling RPC remote service. For calling remote service i
am using penneframework. On penneframework, Remote service call
result are populated in RemoteResult object. It dont have any other
event method for handling result event. For errror handling, i have
    defaultHandler for displaying error message.
Here i am having two requirements
    1. I should be able to track RPC response, so that i can
display success message to user along with DB generated ID.
    2. I need to reset all form field after receiving RPC
    response.
    Here my question is
1.How i can track server response, so that i can display
    success or error message.
    2. Is their any event or coding technique which i can use for
    solving this issue.
    Thanks
    Kumar

you can do following way :
    quote:
    var token:AsyncToken =
    YourRemoteClass.remoteMethod(param1,param2);
    token.addResponder(new AsyncResponder(
    function(data:Object, token:Object):void {
    // tadaaa response
    function(info:Object, token:Object):void {
    //ooooo , noo, failure
    token

  • Problem in passing/returning objects over dynamic web service call

    Hi Friends,
I am beginner in java web service.
Here is the problem I am facing when I pass/return user defined objects to remote web service method using dynamic we service call.
The client can call the remote web service method in 2 ways.
    1. By generating client stubs using WSDL file
    - In this case, I am able to pass/return the user defined objects to remote method without any issue only when the server side web services are deployed in any server(jboss)
    - But in java 1.6 & above, the web services can be deployed without server using endpoint. In this case, I am not able to pass/return objects over web service calls.
    2. Without generating client stubs (dynamic web service call)
    - This will establish a connection at run time using the given WSDL file (I have attached the document). I have to form an XML(This will contain API name, arguments) string as input at run time
    - In this case, it allows only string as argument while passing & returning.
Please let me know if you can help me on this.

    pani

  • Web service call from PDF

    Hi All,
I need your help as i got an assignment where i suppose to call web service from PDF.
I do have Adobe live cycle server environment along with me.
I have created an sample orchestration in workbench where it does the some calculation and i use it as web service in PDF.
I have followed the below procedure to call web service in pdf using designer
    1. Go to file
    2. Click on the new data connection
    3. then WSDL url
and complete the rest of procedure.
When i click on the invoke button web service get call it prompt me for username and password and pdf works fine
I dont want my web service to pop up any username and password when i click invoke button so i should embbed some certificates in pdf i guess.
    How do i achieve it?
Guys do reply thanks in advance....

Few more question related to web service call
    1. Is it free Adobe reader will not call a web service?
Answer: If you are using Adobe Reader, you need to apply Usage Rights (through Reader Extensions) to invoke any web service.
    2. If i am trying for third party web service which may be having username and password then how do i call web service from reader without prompting username and pwd?
Answer: With a little tweak, you can do this if you know the username and password for the external web service.
Create a LC process and invoke the external web service from it. In the WebService activity, you can mention the required username and password.
Now, invoke the LC process through SOAP from your PDF. This option will work without prompting the user with Login dialog.
Please note that if you don't set appropriate permission to invoke the LC process, it will still show you up a dialog to authenticate in order to invoke the LC process.
    3. Is there any javascript available to call web service which required credentials?
Answer: Yes, you can write JavaScript to invoke the web service with the supplied credential in the code.
The API reference link is mentioned below.
    http://wwwimages.adobe.com/www.adobe.com/content/dam/Adobe/en/devnet/acrobat/pdfs/js_api_r eference.pdf
Go through the SOAP methods; you will find a request object which encapsules the oAuthenticate parameter where you can mention the username and password.
    4. How do i open wsdl file in live cycle workbench?
Answer: You can open the WSDL through a WebService activity. Drag an Web Service activity into a process and click on configure button. The first textbox is the WSDL URL field. Enter the WSDL URL and click load. You will find the WSDl content in the large text area.

  • System processes needed for web service call

    Hi experts,
one theoretical question: how about the system processes needed for a web service call? If have created a test service that does nothing except to wait for 10 seconds. When I call it from outside, no extra process is busy (as seen in trx SM50). Is it possible that one web service call (from outside -> SAP machine) does not need a DIA or BTC process on SAP machine?
Thanks in advance for your help!
    Kind regards, Matthias

    Hi,
Of course a web service needs a dialog workprocess to run.
But if you used the "wait" abap instruction, it may be that this instruction frees the work process ?
    Regards,
    Olivier

  • Making 'local' service calls from within services

WARNING! I realise that this will seem a strange set of conditions, but if people
    could bear
with it that would be great.
We are integrating a number of existing 'legacy' systems. A number of these systems
    are
Tuxedo based, with existing services available. We are required to 'orchestrate'
    a number of
calls to these services. Therefore we are to write a 'Top Level' service which
    will co-ordinate the
calls to the existing services. Ideally we would like to reduce the number of
server-to-server calls made by this new service and make direct/inline calls to
the existing services. We could make changes to the existing services and get
them to expose a 'local' interface (i.e. a sidedoor into the application). But
. . . we could do a direct call to the 'tpservice' API for each service. However,
we do perceive one problem here, in that the service we call will eventually call
tpreturn, and this will 'shoot' straight past out 'Top Level' service, not allowing
us to see and handle the response buffer.
The question arising form the strange setup is - Can the jump performed by tpreturn
be 'interrupted? Can we catch the tpreturn before it gets back to the Tuxedo runtime?
Can we use TRY/CATCH somehow to CATCH all tpreturn within the block?(I have had
a quick look at this, but was a tad confued by it)?
Or does anyone have any thoughts on what we are doing - with the obvious ideal
of minimal if not NO impact on existing services?
By the way the existing services are 'C' based, generated by a third party toolset.
The 'Top Level' would be in-house 'C'.
    Thanks

What if the output buffer used by the service is the input buffer?

In the function which 'catches' the tpreturn, after it has done its
processing and before tpreturn-ing itself, it will free the return buffer
that it was given. It is just a normal Tux buffer and tpfree works fine
(even though the app run within the tpservice routine tpalloc-ed the
    buffer)
Thanks for the interest - if you have any more thoughts, let me know.

How do you deal with memory management of tuxedo buffers? I mean thetuxedo tpreturn
will automatically free the output buffer. If you're overridding tpreturnwhat
happens to the output buffer? Just curious.

    Scott,
Thanks for the reply. Since jotting the memo I have been having a
    play.
I have created a shared library (we are on UNIX boxes), with a function
called tpreturn in it. This tpreturn checks to see it there has been
    a
current jump point created by us - if not, it gets (and retains) ahandle
    to
the Tuxedo tpreturn (using shload/dlopen etc), and calls that. Ifa jump
point has been created by us then it longjumps to that (retainingthe
    info
    supplied in the call).
To force our tpreturn to be invoked in preference, we have/can either
archive the objects for our version into the main executable or linked
    our
shared in such a position that the loader finds it before Tuxedoswhen
    looking for the symbol.
Therefore, before we call the tpservice routine locally/inline, weset
    a
jump point, and when this existing service calls tpreturn, it returns
    to our
jump point (based on the above), we then do our extra processing. And
    when
we call tpreturn, there is no current jump point and so it calls the
    real
    tpreturn.
A bit convoluted maybe!!, but at the moment it seems to hang together
    not
    too bad.
    Thanks for any input

The tpreturn is done with longjmp, so I don't think you'd be able
    to
    intercept it.
For now, you'll have to change the existing service code so thatit
knows whether it should 'return' or 'tpreturn'.

WARNING! I realise that this will seem a strange set of conditions,
    but
    if people
    could bear
with it that would be great.
We are integrating a number of existing 'legacy' systems. A numberof
    these systems
    are
Tuxedo based, with existing services available. We are required
    to
    'orchestrate'
    a number of
calls to these services. Therefore we are to write a 'Top Level'service
    which
    will co-ordinate the
calls to the existing services. Ideally we would like to reduce
    the
    number of
server-to-server calls made by this new service and make
    direct/inline
    calls to
the existing services. We could make changes to the existing servicesand get
them to expose a 'local' interface (i.e. a sidedoor into theapplication). But
. . we could do a direct call to the 'tpservice' API for each
    service.
    However,
we do perceive one problem here, in that the service we call willeventually call
tpreturn, and this will 'shoot' straight past out 'Top Level'
    service,
    not allowing
us to see and handle the response buffer.
The question arising form the strange setup is - Can the jump
    performed
    by tpreturn
be 'interrupted? Can we catch the tpreturn before it gets back
    to
    the
    Tuxedo runtime?
Can we use TRY/CATCH somehow to CATCH all tpreturn within the
    block?(I

  • Service Call EJB Error : "caf~runtime~ear doesnu2019t run"

    Hi,
    NW 7.0
The development structure We develop an Enterprise portal DC with a Service whose configuration starup=true. That service calls an EJB object which is in a custom Component Application Service project, when it initializes. Appearance When we start the J2EE engine(NetWeaver 7.0), the log is u201Ccafruntimeear doesnu2019t runu201D, this cause the service gets exception. So our question is how to run cafruntimeear before the Service starting ???
    thanks a lot~~~

    Dear Rutt,
    I have fixed the issue.
I took the CAF component out  and deployed all other components first.
    The deployment finished successfully.
After the deployment, I have restarted the CAF component and all is running fine.
The error log provided a login exception for the administrator account, but this account was working and the passwaord was synchronized between configtool and http access. I was not able to understand this message.
I have tried to force the deplyment with sdm. Did not work. I have done this way in the past too.
SAP supports only JSPM as tool to deploy SPS.
    Thanks for your support.

  • Service call doubt

    Hi friends,
I have a small doubt regarding service call in webdynpro-abap. I had a requirement of executing a material change bapi. Firstly I followed the wizard of service call then do the necessary layout building and eventually done with the requirement. But I did the same thing by calling that bapi in a local method of a view. So my doubt is why we need to have service call(calling method of controller) when the same coding i can do in a local method of a view? what is the main significance of Service call in webdynpro-abap?
    Please guide.
    Thanks.
    Gaurav

Unless and until you add "order by" to a query, you cannot say ANYTHING about the order of the rows returned. Well, short of 'you cannot rely on the order of the rows being returned'.
It never has, it never did, it never will.

  • Adobe Interactive Form / Web Service - Connection question

    Hi
We have CRM 2007 and want to use Adobe Interactive forms for our sales managers to upload customer information when they're out in the field. Before they leave all information about the customer will be downloaded to an Adobe Interactive Form. The client sees the customer and then enters the information required to e.g. create a sales order. He has an Internet connection but is not neccessarily logged into CRM 2007. He is a registered user in CRM 2007.
My question is: if we create the web services to send and receive data to the CRM 2007 system, does the sales manager have to be online and signed into the CRM system to upload the Adobe Interactive Forms back to the server, or does the web service handle this?
    Kind regards
    Declan

    Hello Declan,
You can send the information captured in an SAP Interactive Form by Adobe to your CRM system in two ways based on the way in which your form is designed -
1] By making a direct web service call : A typical use case is that the user fills out all the necessary fields in the form and simply clicks a submit button; on clicking, the particular web service is called and the input data is transferred to SAP CRM. It should be noted that the web service authorizations should be in place to enable this kind of usage.
2] By utilizing SAP CRM via Email scenario : A typical use case here would be that the user fills out all the necessary fields in the form and simply clicks a submit via email button; on clicking, an email is composed with all the form input infomration added as an attachment. The user can then send this email to the SAP CRM system. It should be noted that SAP CRM via Email application should be setup on the SAP CRM system and the particular SAP CRM via Email service & web service should have proper authorizations.
An interesting point to note here is that while scenario 1] would require the user to have just internet access for this to work, scenario 2] could work in a fashion such that if the user isn't having internet access, he/she could still fill out the forms thereby creating emails which would then reside in the outbox of the user's email client. Once the user is having internet acces, the email client would send these emails automatically, thereby achieving a different flavour of "offline functionality".
    Hope this info helps!
    Best regards,
    Sandeep.

  • OSB : Service Call out

    Hi,
Can anyone tell me what is the basic difference between configure SOAP body and configure PAYLOAD in service call out option? Any examples / use case?
    Thanks,
    Bhaskar
[I will mark the question as answered, once got the reply.]

    Hi Bhaskar,
With Configure SOAP Body you use $body directly, with Configure Payload you can use different variables... Also, Configure Payload does NOT support SOAP-RPC encoded... I've never came across an use case where I had to use payload...
There is a good table explaining what to use when here...

  • Service Call Related

    Hi Experts,
    I have one question,
    1. While creating Service call, as per my knowledge one Execute Method will create in Web dynpro side, any another action or anothing thing wil happen in webdynpro side???
    2. Can we create Context node while creating Service Call??
    Please help me,
    Thanks and Regards,
    Krishna.

    Hi,
As per my understanding along with method, import, export and table parameters will be created as context attribute or node based on option selected while service call.
Parameters of RFC/BAPI can be created as context node. The option is available while making service call.
    Refer tutorial for service call.
    Regards,
    Saket.
