Undownloading Shows within Podcasts in iTunes

After listening/viewing a show within a podcast, I would like to delete that particular episode (not the podcast, just a show from the podcast), however I still want to keep the episode listing within its podcast section so that I could re-download again later. As an example, I'm subscribed to the TED video podcasts. I only want to have a few episodes downloaded at a time. However, once I watch a show, I want to remove the show, but I still want the entry to remain in the TED podcast listing so I could download it again later.

There is no way to change the episode back to its gray-colored, undownloaded state. But you can delete the underlying file since storage space seems to be drastically limited on your system.
Select a show, and press Ctrl-R to see it on your hard drive. Delete it, but leave the entry alone in iTunes. The playcount of "1" will remind you that you already listened to it, but it won't be taking up room on your hard drive.
You won't be able to redownload this track in iTunes, but you can go to the producer's website and look for it there if you ever want to hear it again. At least you'll know the date/episode number of what to look for.

I just spent hours downloading TV shows and podcasts from iTunes directly on my ipad. The downloads all completed however now when I go to Video or Podcast, it says there are none.

Have you checked the Movies and TV Show tabs in the Movies App ?
Check the iPod app for Podcasts.
Check your iTunes account Purchase History to make sure the system says hey downloaded successfully.

HT1351 My I Pod is not showing the Podcasts I have downloaded on the library section in my itunes and also on the Ipod but is showing in the spome 3000 plus eposides in the sync section but will not show on Ipod or Library section even after syncing pleas

My Ipod is Classic is not showing any podcasts which I have downloads either on the library within itunes or on the ipod but is showing in the syncing section some 3300 plus podcasts but even after syncing they are noty showing on the library or on the Ipod am missing a step here as I have ticked all before syncing ??

I have sorted it myself!!
Ipod is now in the top right corner, last time I clicked on it, it ejected it but by clicking on the actual ipod icon then it brings up your ipod. I restored it to factory settings and synced all my music and it now works again. Hope this can help anyone who ends up with the same problem.

Try swiping your finger across the podcast then tap Delete.

I'm a podcaster and my latest episode doesn't show up in the iTunes store

I have The ****** Off World of Uncle Hal Radio Show and I have had a great time with it. Every week I upload my show and then ping iTunes. My latest episode will show up in the store pretty quick. I have subscribed to my own podcast (http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=173914731) and can download the latest episode but in the iTunes store my latest show (Episode 29) does not show up. My latest episode shows up on all directories on line and in my subscription in iTunes but not on the store! Anyone know what's going on? There should be 29 shows...not 28.

Are you positive these podcasts are configured to sync to your iPod Touch? Have you double checked the configuration for podcasts from under the iPod's Podcasts configuration tab in iTunes?
To access this tab, plug your iPod in and click on its name from under the Devices section in the left hand pane of iTunes. This will bring you to the iPod's Summary tab. Locate the Podcasts tab along the top and select it. Here you can choose how and what podcasts sync to your iPod.

IWeb has published my Podcast - but iTunes doesn't show the updated feed

I created three new Podcast episodes today, which all work fine and are published to .Mac like a dream...
The first one was picked up by iTunes and downloaded as I've subscribed to my own feed. As you do. The last two are not showing on iTunes at all...
In fact I realised on closer inspection that only five of the twelve Podcasts are in iTunes. Any ideas why?
Interestingly, the iWed icon in the application bar has "2" in a red circle in a "you've got two waiting to be published" kinda way. But all the pages are blue and I have published all pages to .Mac. Honest.
I'm no RSS geek, so any help greatly appreciated!

Nice post! Although you do not need to wait for iTunes to check your updated feed. For a quicker response you can ping iTunes to read your rss feed. Simply enter this URL into your address bar:

Bookmark the URL and use it whenever you want to update your podcast on iTunes.

The red icon with numbers in the iWeb icon on your dock means you have new comments added to your site. The number represents how many new comments there are.

Artwork showing in Podcast App but not iTunes Store

I updated my podcast art recently as I've had a site redesign, and typically now, the podcast artwork is not showing up in the iTunes Store. What's peculiar however is that if I subscribe to one of the podcasts in the iOS Podcast App, the artwork shows up no problem. This leads me to believe that the feeds are working fine, therefore I can't see the issue?
The affected feeds are http://dyhamb.com/rss_itunes.php, /rss_too.php, /rss_tcr.php and /rss_asf.php. Anybody have any ideas?

I checked the first URL - you have an image correctly referenced in the feed and present on the server. The Store can sometimes be quite slow to show images so I'm afraid it's just a question of waiting.

Podcasts in itunes not showing up in podcasts

I have podcasts in itunes, they are not synch'd to the podcasts folder (for lack of better word) on the ipod. they show up in the main playlists.
Anyone have any idea why? or how to solve?

My older iPod, (30Gb video) has just returned from "battery replacement surgery" (well actually, the whole thing has been replaced, not repaired) and now some Podcasts are showing up in the music library whereas they did not do so before the repair. Podcast showing zero episodes in iTunes

I have a podcast feed (being created with the Blubrry Powerpress plugin for Wordpress) that is showing zero episodes in iTunes, despite the fact that it's a valid RSS feed. The feed can be found here: http://podcast.christnc.com/feed/podcast/
I also tried doing publishing this feed (http://christnc.com/category/podcast/feed/), which worked for a short time, but then showed zero episodes as well. Can anyone spot the problem?

I'm not sure how well iTunes copes with 301 redirects - I've see it both work and not work. The correct procedure is detailed here:

but this requires you to be able to add a tag to the feed. As iTunes evidently isn't able to read the feed this isn't going to work. I think all you can do is try the redirect and see what happens: this is the problem with services like Blogger, in that you have no control over the feed or its URL.
You can check the feed which is being used by iTunes by subscribing (from the 'Subscribe Free' button on the Store page) and then going to the 'Podcasts' section in the iTunes sidebar and control-clicking (Mac) or right-clicking (Windows) the podcast line (not that for an episode) and choosing 'Copy podcast URL'.

AppleTV in itunes missing movies/tv shows/music/podcasts tabs

A friend's AppleTV only shows two tabs when in itunes: settings and photos.
My AppleTV (1st gen) shows all the usual tabs (settings/movies/tv shows/music/podcasts) and my settings tab has a Sync box where I can set my sync settings - my friends does not. All he has in his settings tab is the top box which states the name, capacity, software version and serial number.
He's using iTunes10 and his AppleTv (gen1) is on version 3.0.2
Any idea why he can't see what I can with mine? Any suggestions? His AppleTV shows up in iTunes fine, and is connected to the internet.

was your imac running OSX 10.5x, and is the new mac pro running OSX 10.6x? I wonder if the first generation of AppleTVs isn't properly snow leopard compatible? My friend's imac that he's got his AppleTV connected to is running Snow Leopard (my AppleTV is connected to an old G5 running 10.5x and as I say, it works perfectly)....hmmmmm

Podcasts showing in iphone not itunes

I have downloaded firmware 2.2 for the iphone which lets you download podcasts over the air directly to your iphone. The problem is that all of the podcasts i have downloaded over the air do not show up in itunes. Basically that means I cant delete them because they do show up in the iphone but not in itunes. How can i make the podcasts i downloaded show up in itunes so i can delete them? Thanks

In the iPhone if you go to the Podcasts in the iPod area. Take your finger swipe it from left to right. It should bring up a delete button. So you can remove it off the iPhone.
As far as why is the Podcast not syncing over to iTunes. Please make sure you have the latest iTunes first. iTunes 8.0.2

*Also if you click on iPhone in iTunes, in the Summary screen if you have manually managed checked. You can delete the podcasts by click on the gray triangle beside your iPhones name under devices so it points down. Then click Podcasts, then you can delete what podcasts you want.
*Other wise click on iPhone - Podcasts in the tabbed menu bar - And make sure you have Sync Podcasts checked, And choose All, and then Sync. Or at least choose Selected Podcasts. During sync it will scan iPhone and pull podcasts into iTunes.

Not all content types are available in all countries - in each country Apple can only sell what they are licensed to (and in some cases what a country's laws allows them to). A list of what is available where is shown on this page : http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3599

IPod Podcast List in iTunes Doesn't Show all Podcasts

4th gen iPod Shuffle
I just refreshed all podcasts in iTunes.
Hooked up Shuffle to sync, went to Podcast tab & many podcasts that show up via iTunes Podcast section are not there...
I've never noticed this happen before.

I can offer a possible "work-around." On the shuffle's Podcasts "tab" in iTunes, at the bottom of the screen, there is a list called Include Episodes from Playlists. On this list, you can select playlists in your iTunes library that have podcast episodes.
In your iTunes library, create a new playlist. You can call it something line "iPod Podcasts," or whatever you want. Add podcast episodes you want on the shuffle to this playlist.
NOTE: Click the plus sign at the bottom of the sidebar to create a new playlist. If the iTunes sidebar (along left side of window) is not visible, from the menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar.
On this playlist, you can add a mix of episodes from multiple podcasts, and put the episodes in any desired playlist order (by dragging them around on the list or sorting by a column heading).
Back on the shuffle's Podcasts tab, select (checkmark) this playlist under Include Episodes from Playlists. Click Apply to sync the selection, as well as the playlist itself, to the shuffle.
On the shuffle, you should be able to play the episodes from the separate podcast playlists (using VoiceOver to switch), or from the "iPod Podcasts" playlist. To play podcasts from a (regular) playlist on a shuffle, you must set the shuffle's power switch to the play-in-order (middle) position. The episodes play in playlist order.
If that works, I can provide additional info on using Smart Playlists to "automate" the process. It may actually be more convenient than using the iPod's Podcasts tab to manage podcasts on the shuffle.
