Unequal size memory

I installed unequal size of memories in my macbook. One is 256 Mbyte, the other is 512 Mbyte. I heard that for better performance I should install same size of memories. But my problem is my computer shut off itself once in a while and it takes sometimes to turn it back on. I called to service center in Thailand but they said it was because of my unequal size of memories. Is that so? I changed to the equal size of memory but still not fix the problem. What's wrong with my computer. Please enlight me. Thank you.

  • How to change size memory for an application under Classic ?

When I ask informations on my OS 9 application under OS X.4.4, I can no more change size memory ! I can no more use my application with Classic... ???

ROYCH: This is partly guesswork, but I think it may explain why your problem occurs.
When OS X is controlling your computer (as it always does on a Mini), the file Type and Creator attributes that OS 9 uses to identify different kinds of files are not used. OS X ignores them in files that have them. Files that are only used by OS X don't have them at all. When you create a new application in Classic mode under OS X, those attributes may not be assigned to it, so the new application may not have any.
But if you copy the new application to a computer running OS 9, and those attributes are missing, the OS 9 computer will have no idea what sort of file it is. OS 9 won't even know it's an application. To prevent that, I'm guessing that OS X somehow builds clues into the file that enable OS 9 to identify it as an application, and to give it the Type attribute APPL. I believe any file in OS 9 that has that Type attribute will display the Memory menu item in its Get Info window — not only in OS 9, but in OS X. So after you copy your compiled application onto a computer running OS 9 and then back onto your Mini, it has the APPL attribute, and the Memory item is available in its Get Info box.
I have one application, File Buddy, that can (among many other abilities) display and edit the OS 9 Type and Creator attributes of any file while running in OS X. It can be used to assign specific Type and Creator attributes to a file that has none. You could use it to assign the appropriate Type and Creator attributes to your compiled applications while you are running OS X. After you do so, maybe they will display the Memory menu item in their OS X Get Info boxes.
If this works, File Buddy can apply the same changes in Type and Creator to a whole folder full of files at once. That would be an easy way for you to accomplish the same thing for several compiled applications instantly, without having to copy them to a computer running OS 9.
I don't create applications, so I can't test this procedure to see whether it works. I will be interested to hear what happens if you experiment with File Buddy.
But after saying all this, I really have no idea whether the message you're seeing about insufficient memory is meaningful or spurious. You may go through the whole rigmarole of changing the memory allocation for your compiled applications, only to find that doing so still doesn't enable you to open them. I'll be interested to hear whether that's true, too. Good luck.

  • What size memory card goes into the PowerShot A520?

What size memory card goes into the PowerShot A520 camera?...and where can I get one?

This camera uses SD card. You can buy it from any online or local electronic store. It should not cost more than $7. But don't mistake it with SDHC card. Your camera is not compatible with SDHC card. SD card is limited at 2Gb; so the largest one you can get is 2Gb. Anything larger will be SDHC.

  • Maximum Memory Size & Memory Size

Will a server's memory automatically increase from Memory Size to Maximum Memory Size as the VM requires it? Or is this only valid for adding memory to the Memory Size value manually?

The max memory size just specifies the maximum amount to which you can manually adjust the memory of a running VM. I've now taken to setting the max memory size to the total available memory on my Oracle VM Servers, with memory size set to something reasonable. This way, I can adjust right up to the limit of physical memory without rebooting.

  • Heap size memory error on WebI Reports

    Hello,
I'm developping my own JDBC driver to report specific data in Business Objects. I've actually an universe build on this driver and a web intelligence report. When I try to request I've an heap size error due to the size of my jvm. My JBDC driver is deployed thanks to a jar file. Normally I can increase jvm size with the argument -Xmx256M in command-line.
    I tried several things :
    I modified register HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Control/Session Manager/Subsystems, SharedSection to 1024,3072,1024
    I passed Tomcat's memory to 1024, I can't more because I'm on 32 bits on Windows Server 2003.
I tried to add MAX_HEAP_SIZE=1024000000 on webi.properties in c:\programfiles\Tomcat\webapps\businessobjects\enterprise115\desktoplaunch\WEB-INF\classes\, as explained on a post, but this directory doesn't exist, but there is 4 different webi.properties files one in C:\Program Files\Business Objects\Tomcat55\webapps\PerformanceManagement\WEB-INF\lib so I added max heap size parameter in this one.
I improved my JDBC-driver to avoid memory leak, and BO requests to limit results.
But I still have an heap size error.
Some people have other ideas to solve my problem ?

    1. Go to universe and click on View--> Structure
    2. Check objects and Conditions.
    3. If you found any changes then re-export your universe and run queries.
Once everything goes fine then Schedule the report.

  • Email size & memory

Does anyone know if there is a way to limit the size of e-mails coming in?  I have had several emails come over with large attachments which fill up my memory and then I lose my call logs, other e-mails, etc?
Also, what is a good number for available memory size?  I only have 8,000,000 available, which of course has caused me to lose things in the last week.  I have tried things listed but it goes from 5 to 8 and sticks there.  I don't know what is taking up so much memory but this losing of e-mails, messages, and call logs is very irritating.
    Thanx in advance

    1) You can't limit the size and it doesn't matter anyway, as your BB will ONLY download the first 2KB of any email you get. When you read it, it will grab the next 2KB and so on and so forth. if the email has a large attachment to it, and you open that attachment, it does consume some memory. Deleting that email helps.
    2) 8MB file free (Options > Status) is low, in my opinion. Read more details below.
    3) Look at Option > Advanced > Status > Menu > Database Sizes and see what is large. List it here if you want one of us to look it over and comment on it.

First thing? Remove the battery of your device, hold a minute, replace and reboot and check the File Free again. What is it now?

  • Form Size Memory

    Hello.
When I resize or move a form in SBO, the new size and position are stored somewhere by SBO, because the next time I launch SBO and open this form, SBO remembers my modifications.
I didn't find anything in the DI/UI API about this. I also tried to trace all interactions with the SQL server, and it doesn't seem SBO is storing these informations in the database.
I'd like to know how SBO handles this, because maybe I could use it for user-defined forms too, in order to get a similar behaviour.
    Thanks in advance.
    Martin

    Jon,
    Thanks for your idea.
Unfortunately, I'm afraid Windows doesn't know the windows existing <i>inside</i> a program. In our case, the program is SAP Business One, and it's the only one to be known by Windows. Therefore, no automatic Windows-behaviour could affect the <i>internal</i> windows of SBO (e.g. Item Master Data, Bill Of Materials, ...), because Windows doesn't know they exist.
The other explanation, following your idea, would be that SBO reads/writes himself in the Windows registry. But searching for a resized form's FormID in the registry was unsuccessful. Anyway, I don't think SBO would do this, since it saves everything internal in the database.
I'm still open to any suggestion/remark/comment that would help me to solve this issue.

  • Mixing Memory Mac Pro 2.66 Xenon

    Hello all!
Alright I am trying to figure the best configuration that I can afford for a memory upgrade to my Mac Pro. I am looking to spend somewhere south of $200.
I currently have the following memory configuration (3GB):
    DIMM Riser A/DIMM 1: 1 GB
    DIMM Riser A/DIMM 2: 1 GB
    DIMM Riser B/DIMM 1: 512 MB
    DIMM Riser B/DIMM 2: 512 MB
I wanted to expand it quite a bit more and see on NewEgg that they are charging appx 65.00 for (2 x 1GB) and 80.00 for (2 x 2GB). It's definitely a better price per GB to get the 2 x 2GB but would I see a large performance increase?
I have been reading on the message boards that it is best not to mix memory but it is suggested to fill all the slots with the same size memory.
I guess it just kills me to take out all of my existing memory to put in just the 4GB of new memory.
    Could anyone provide any suggestions?
Thank you for your time in advance!

You have 3GB, which is on the lite side.
The ideal for that model is 4 DIMMs.
Without knowing if you are a light photoshop, or what you use it for, Apple calls 4 x 1GB for FCP (and audio apps) "symmetrical memory."
And I would look at 4 x 2GB and pull your 3GB, maybe sell it once you know the new memory is fine after a month.
Are you seeing page outs? multiple swap files?
    Go to folder: /var/
Maybe you are better off with faster drives, new boot drive or for scratch. A WD 10K 150GB VelociRaptor for $180 even.

  • Mixing Memory Speeds

    Apologies, wrong thread, please ignore.
Message was edited by: Rhys Bethell

    Hi Rhys,
i think what you are talking about is mixing memory size, not speed. You can not mix memory speeds, especially in Macs.
You can mix memory size in most Macs. Very few Macs use memory interleaving that requires exactly the same size memory modules to work best. The iMacs allow mixing size with no impact on performance.
Go ahead, Crucial is very good with Macs and can be trusted.
Also very good is Other World Computing (OWC).

  • How to configure the memory settings based on the number of VSAs for Cisco service control Subscriber Manager?

    Hey Good day to all,
please help with this; when installing the Service Control Management Suite Subscriber Manager scms-sm, and at the secound step where you have to determine the system memory settings, there are several attributes to be considered:
the maximum number of the subscribers
    with or without qouta manager
    number of VSAs used
    so, my question is about the memory configuration parameters versus the number of VSAs used, since you must multiply with certain values, set already on a table on the Cisco website, but as shown in the example under the table these values are multiplied to all the attributes except that the example dosn't show the value of the temp-size memory;
so please confirm this to me:
the temporary memory size "temp_size" is not related to the number of VSAs implemented!
this is a screen shot from Cisco website:
thank you in advance for helping

    Hi Tessitori,
The best way to cache, index and query that amount of data in Coherence is to use a number of stand alone JVMs (i.e. com.tangosol.net.DefaultCacheServer s) to 'manage' the data. Then access (query) that cache from your application servers instances. For an indexing and querying example take a look at this FAQ item
If you would like to discuss this further please email me at [email protected]

  • Does Nokia 3600 support Micro-SDHC memory?

I am afraid I cannot find the answer to this question anywhere on the web:
On the one hand, the manuals refer to Micro-SD. I called Nokia and I was told that the 3600 supports only Micro-SD and not Micro-SDHC. But the person didn't sound really sure.
On the other hand, I found several online retailers offering Micro-SDHC cards referring specifically to Nokia 3600. Also, some reputable memory manufacturers (e.g. Crucial) point to Micro-SDHC products when I identify my phone as a 3600.
Can anybody tell me who is right?

sometimes what nokia states is based on avaliablility of current size memory cards and nokia's testing with particular phones. so other cards may work just fine in phones that are not indicated but there is no guarantee as they were only tested with a certain limit and that limit is what nokia would post. it is recommended to use certain card sizes with certain phones for optimal performance as well especially lower end phones that do not have sometimes enough juice to sort through a huge quanitty of data.
