Unexpected behavior of SQL Server Agent on weekly schedules

Hello.
I have experienced a little problem concerning job scheduling.
Today (on Monday 01/13/2014) I have created a job with the following schedule:
Schedule type: recurring, occurs: weekly, recurs every: 2 weeks, on: Monday, Occurs once at: 16:00:00 (or any time in the future), start date: 01/06/2014, no end date.
After that I have the next job launch planned on today 01/13/2014, but not on the next week 01/20/2014.
Logically, if I count two weeks since the last week 01/06/2014 I must get my launch on 01/20/2014, but not on 01/06/2014.
So, is the job next launch calculated properly (if yes, why?) or this behaviour may be concerned as a bug?

AS your startdate is a past day, it would take the first occurence as 13th Jan as starting date and there afer the schedule takes like 27th Jan as next schedule. If you change the startdate as 14th, then it would take 20th Jana s next and there after two
week calculation.
I am not sure, if you can change the startdate as 5htJan would change the schedule as per your needs. Please check the same.

Can you post the output of below query
select @@version.
If you are using SQl server express edition ,SQL server agent feature is not available.It seems from errorlog that you can start it but actually you cannot.But first confirm what is version and edition of your SQL server

Error while executing SSIS package which contains Script component through SQL Server Agent Job

I have written one SSIS 2012 package which is fetching records from CSV and put it into staging DB and from staging DB , using SSIS script component task, I am inserting data into Dynamics CRM. So far it is working fine when
I manually execute SSIS package.

domain\user account has not proper rights
That being said, often SSIS jobs require a proxy to be runnable and this is how you make one up

My SSIS package retrieves a excel file and saves the vales into an SQL table. When I run the package by itself in my server it works fine but when it's called from a SQL agent, it fails with the above error. Please help me resolve it.

That's the issue. If it's a SQL login the password cannot be retrieved by account executing the package from the job which is why login fails. In that case best thing would be set password in job properties or pass it using configuration created in the package

My package is saved with ServerStorage which appears under \\server\Stored Packages\MSDB\PACKAGE and when I run it, it works fine.

Excel Import Fails in SQL Server Agent Job but not when executed in BIDS

We have a SQL Server agent job that has ran successfully for the past 6 months. It started failing about a week ago. I don't believe anyone installed anything on the server. The proxy account used to run the job is an admin on the server.
I've tried everything I can think of or that I found on searches. I even changed the connection manager from an Excel source to using an Microsoft office 12.0 Access Database Engine OLEDB connection and it still runs in BIDs and not as an agent job.
I also setup my LANID as a proxy account to see if the job would run (checking security) -- and it fails with the same error.   I also made sure the path is
\\server\share rather than a drive letter. Any ideas?
The package is executed in 32 bit mode. The package still runs fine in BIDS (where BIDs is opened on the server) but fails in the SQL Agent job with:

I logged on to the server with the account that the SQL Agent runs under and ran the following from a command
line to execute the package:

I wanted to see if it was a security issue with the agent account account - but
this ran fine.
I then updated the SQL Agent job to use an operating system command instead
of a SSIS package on the job step. This fails...
The issue is definately with the SQL Server Agent

SQL Procedure working when run manually, not running from sql server agent

I have a procedure that runs fine using the execute command in SSMS, however putting the same command in a job gives the following error.
line 9, character 9, unexpected end of input
The code takes a very long XML string in UTF-8 encoding and puts it into a single nvarchar(max) cell. Then puts this string into a XML cell in a different table, allowing me to query the individual parts of the XML code using the nodes function. I cannot put
the data directly into a nvarchar cell due to encoding differences.
I can't reproduce the string here as it is very very long.
I'm just looking for ideas really as to where it might be going wrong.
Here is what I know so far:
The procedure runs without issue when executed manually
I have checked permission issues, and that doesn't seem to be the problem. The agent runs under my own account and I am a sysadmin on the database
I split the procedure into seperate parts to locate exactly where the problem is occuring. Once again the seperate procedures run fine when executed manually but an error occurs when run through SQL Server agent.
When the query is run seperately through SQL Server Agent it gives a slightly different error. This leads me to believe it is an encoding issue. However I am getting the XML from a webpage and I can't change the encoding on the webpage.

I know this is a long shot since you can't replicate the issue but if anyone could give an idea as to where to start looking for an answer, it would be greatly appreciated.

How to stop SQL Server Agent Job if Stored Procedure returns value 0

I have SQL Server 2012 SSIS.
I have 2 SSIS packages.
I have created SQL Server Agent Job for running packages.
I have created steps. If first step have run succesfully next step is run.
I have need to add new logic.
I have validation stored procedure, which validate DB table values and returns 1 or 0.
I would like to create logic where first of all this SP is runned. Return value of SP determines if steps are run or not.
I was thinking to use Execute SQL Task for running SP.
If value 1 is returned, then run rest of Tasks is run.
If value 0 is returned, what should I do so that Job is stopped? I need assistance!
I want current step to stop never moved to next step.
Is there any SSIS tasks, which can stop the Job?
Or should I make Step for running validation SP?
How to do so that if value 0 is returned stop Job.

Logs for sql server agent restart

Can I get log on the sql server agent restart history of week. I mean the sql server agent has been restarted several times in last week I want to know the date and time when the sql server agent restarted in that week. Is it possible to get
the info?

SQLAGENT.OUT, the log file for SQL Agent. SQL Server Agent can maintain up to 10 Error Logs files. The currently used SQL Server Agent Error Log will be named SQLAGENT.OUT
where is the SQLAGENT.OUT file?
C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL11.SQL2012\MSSQL\Log\
What will be when a new file create?
The old file should get a name like SQLAGENT.X and the new file get the name SQLAGENT.OUT (X is numbers 1-9)

Copying SQL Server Agent - Jobs in SSMS - 2012

I am using SQL 2012 version.
when i try to copy the existing sql agent job (job "X") (using, Script Job As--> Create To--> New query window) and paste it into different database it is giving me some errors as below. (this method is working fine with SQL 2005, but not
with 2012)

@schedule_uid is not a parameter for procedure sp_add_jobschedule.
Any other way of copying sql agent job in SQL 2012 ???

SQL Server Agent Jobs- Not running

Team,
We have a production database hosted on SQL Server 2008R2 SP2(10.50.4000). We have application jobs which are scheduled and basically have packages called from this job. These jobs were running all good till yesterday and it has stopped working since yesterday
even though its enabled. Manual runs are successful. Other jobs are running fine.
Checked the Owner of these jobs and the account is SQL Server account which is a proxy account. It had enforce password policy. I have removed that and reset the password to original. However it didnt work.
The last change on this server was windows patching which was performed last week. Apart from that the SQL Server agent service was changed. This is a clustered environment.
The last resort is restart the agent, however would like to get some inputs before I perform this action.
Please let me know your valuable inputs.

If job is not executed at all, that is, there are no entries in the job history, check:
1) The job is enabled.
2) The schedule(s) is enabled.
3) The scdedule does not have an end date has has passed.
4) And that all other conditions on the schedule says that the job should run.

I am using SQL Server 2008 R2 Express edition. When i start SQL Server Agent (MSSQLSERVER) service it is failing to start and gives the below error.
On analyzing the Event logs i found the below event.
The SQL Server Agent (MSSQLSERVER) service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 14 time(s).
Event id 7034
Event source: Service Control Manager.
I opened the SQL server configuration manager to change the service account and start the service, But that is also failing and it is giving the below error.

Like Olaf said SQL Server Agent is available in express but cannot be enabled. This is restriction from MS. The reason is that(why its available and disabled) when you upgrade express to enterprise/standard it just uses this disabled SQL Server agent and
enables it. If this feature was not present SQL Server upgrade process would have to write whole code for SQL agent Which I am sure it does not do while upgrading to standard/enterprise.

I've searched and can't find the answer to this, would like to post it in the appropriate forum. (Using SQL Server 2008R2) I'm having trouble with a long string of email addresses in one of my SQL Server Agent Jobs. I'd like to edit it for readability but
can't find a way to do it. Currently smashing all the addresses together works, The job executes and returns the correct data and sends the desired emails, but if I try a continuation character it sends emails to the first person on the list, then no
others.
It works fine when all the email addresses have to be in one long string with no spaces. (Example below) Hard to read/edit.

Prashanth, This runs every two hours five days a week for the last two years. The only problem I have with it is that the line of email addresses is difficult to read and edit when employees leave and are replaced.

SQL Server Agent Permissions for backing up on network share

I'm new to managing SQL Server and I'm not too familiar on how to get this going. I'm trying to automate a T-SQL script that I got from here:(http://community.spiceworks.com/scripts/show/1511-back-up-all-databases-in-sql-instance-with-one-scr...).I have my SQL server agent enabled already but according to the notes in the script, I need to change my account that I have the SQL server agent to a network account. I'm not too sure how to do this. I'm running SQL Server 2012 (non express)My server is a standalone server and I need to backup the SQL database to a NAS on the network. I created a user account on the NAS already. I tried to run the Maintenance Wizard and do a backup that way but when I try to browse for the network share that's mounted, I don't see it. Error While executing a SSIS package which contains a script task through SQL Server Agent job

Hi,
I have a SQL Server 2012 SSIS package with a script task along with other tasks [data flow, execute sql tasks ]. When I manually executed the job through BIDS, its completed successfully.
Then I have automated the execution of the package through SQL Server Agent Job. But when I executed the package through SQL Agent job, it runs successfully for all the tasks except script task. When it comes to execute the Script Task, it is getting failed
with the below error message.

I have installed the SSIS on the 64-bit environment and SSIS service is running. Also I tried to run the job through 32 bit [job option] but I am getting the above error in all cases.

Hi Arthur,
My script task access the excel files in a network share, refresh them all and save them. When I execute the ETL manually or thru DTEXEC, it is executing successfully. I am facing the issue when I am executing thru SQL Agent Job only. Logging also showing
the same error.

Reporting Services 2012 for SharePoint and SQL Server Agent "Subscriptions and Alerts"

After installing Reporting Services for SharePoint (Denali) in my test farm, I'm trying to configure the "SQL Server Agent" access for Reporting Services. From Central Admin I'm going to the Reporting Service applicaiton configuration screen and selecting
"Provision Subscriptions and Alerts". I've tried both options on this screen. I've manually executed the "download sql script" in SQL Server, as well as entering a user with SQL sys admin rights on the SQL server into the login fields on the screen.
The role and permissions have been created for the application pool service account, but Reporting Services is still trying to connect with the annonymous login because I'm getting the following alert each time I open the "Provision Subscriptions and Alerts"
screen:
Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGON'
The "status" on the screen still shows "SQL Server Agent State cannot be determined". Has anyone else seen this?

1) Looks like the new Reporting Services does not run as a Windows Service so it's not listed in the "Configure Service Accounts" pulldown. As a result, I don't see how to set the service account. It's only assigned to an application pool.
I installed it into an existing application pool and that application pool "is" in the list and has a domain service account already assigned.
2) Which users need to be in here in order to configure the "Provision Subscriptions and Alerts" screen? I already have the farm admin account which is the account I use when running Central Admin.
3) As mentioned in #1, I've installed Reporting Services into an existing application pool with other service apps.
4) This link is for Reporting Services 2008 R2 which is very different install process. But I did follow the SQL Server Reporting Services 2012 RC0 installation instructions and the Reporting Services is functioning correctly with no errors.
I'm just not able to configure the sceduling the alerting with interfaces with the SQL Server Agent.
