Unexpected Quit, InDesign 2.0.2, Mac OS 10.4.11

Question

All of a sudden this afternoon InDesign 2.0.2 has started quitting ONLY when I go to click on the 'file' menu. I can open the program, I can click on any other menu, I can even double-click on a file to open it and work in it... but if I go to the 'file' menu, I get the "this program has unexpectedly quit" message and everything is lost.
Even though it isn't for my version of Mac OS, I tried the id202_quitfix_all.hqx fix from Adobe. No luck. I deleted any new fonts from the last two weeks, even though the problem just started this afternoon. No luck. I've found a lot about a similar problem in CS3, but not much in my version. Any suggestions for what I should try next? Thanks in advance!
My specs: Intel iMac, 2 ghz, 2 gigs of ram, 140 gigs of free space on the HD, running 10.4.11.

I, too, am experiencing unexpected quits with 2.0.2, running OS 10.4.11, but on a Dual 1.25 GHz PowerPC G4, with 2 GB RAM and 39 GB of available disk space. ID2 crashes in a progressively touchy way in certain files (I'm guessing the files are corrupted somehow?), to the point where simply navigating to another page or going to the Save menu causes the quit. The file reopens when I reboot ID, but no repairs have taken place.
I've tried to "Save As" with a different file name but (if I can Save at all) the cloned file is just as touchy. I don't understand the "create a new user" suggestion by Buko. Is that a Finder level user (as in the house icon folder in which my documents are stored)?
I have draft version PDFs of my bad files, but I was hoping I wouldn't have to recreate the layouts. Is there any way to truly recover these files and, more importantly, do something to fix ID2 so I don't lose more work?
What's most baffling to me is that I've had this configuration (G4 and InDesign 2) for several years without major problems. Have the Tiger updates, over time, created the tension with the older Adobe software?
