Unexplained language change between Mail and Word X

Apologies if this is the wrong Forum, but I don't think it is really a Mail v2.1 (752/752.2) query and I don't think it is really a Word X Service Pack 1 query - at least as far as I can tell - so OSX seems the best place to start.
My Mail language setting in Edit > Spelling is set to British English. My Word X default language in Normal(.doc) is English (UK) so why, when I cut text from outgoing an email and paste it into Word X does the language of the pasted text revert to English (US) - if that isn't an oxymoron! :-))
The Mail language is set via Edit > Spelling and the Word X language is set via my Normal template's default. Is there an OSX or other setting somewhere that I have overlooked - perhaps controlling what the Clipboard uses?

I don't think there is really any connection between the OS X system spell checker and the "languages" you set in MS Office. If pasting something into Word doesn't work right, it's most likely a Word problem. You might want to try upgrading your WordX, which was superseded over 2 years ago. I've never found technology to make life easier. It mainly offers the promise (often unfulfilled) of making it cheaper or quicker. This didn't happen when the Girl Guides put a form in an envelope and posted it. But they probably laid off the person whose job that was with the promise of everything being easy on the internet.
PDF has, curiously, become a victim of its own success. A few years ago, you could say to people "You need Adobe Reader" and it was the only serious game in town. So they got it and it works. Now everyone is making their own PDF reader for whatever reason, fewer and fewer people can be sure of having Reader. (PDF readers come at least with every Mac, every Windows 8 system, Chrome and FireFox, which covers a LOT of ground).
This is coupled with a bizarre decision Adobe made a few years ago to have two kinds of form, one of which all the other software fails with (and, as I noted, even Adobe's own software on iPad and Android fails). This was a neat idea which was designed for big corporations. Then the really big mistake: giving everyone with Acrobat the tools to make these new kinds of form, and making it seem they were preferre or the only game in town. This is finished now (Acrobat 11 doesn't include this big boy's software) but the damage is done, oh how it is done.
Even regular forms tend to only work properly in real Adobe Reader. The fact is, if you make or distribute PDF forms you need to tell people to use Adobe Reader, and to know exactly how to help them do that. If people can't do that or their users won't be motivated to bother, then PDF forms are no longer a suitable choice. Sad but true.

Check the S.M.A.R.T. status on your HD: Boot from install disc (insert disc > restart > immediately hold down the c key and keep holding it until you see “Preparing Installation”) > at first screen select the language and click Continue > click on the Utilities Menu in the menu bar > select Disk Utility > select your HD in the panel on the left side (the name of the HD’s manufacturer and the model number, usually the top item in the list) > look at the bottom of the main window next to S.M.A.R.T. status and see if it says “Verified” (good) or something more ominous like “Failing.”
If S.M.A.R.T. status is "Verified," run Repair Disk > click Repair Disk at bottom of main window. Run this at least twice, and keep running it until it says “appears ok” twice in a row. If that doesn’t happen, you may need a stronger utility (such as DriveGenius, TechToolPro, DiskWarrior) or if the directory is damaged beyond repair, you may need to reinstall the OS, or you may have a damaged HD which will need to be replaced (repair utilities can only repair the directory structure, not the HD itself). When this is finished, quit Disk Utility, quit the installer, and restart. Once booted normally, go to Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility and run Repair Permissions.

DM3.0 EA2: Filter engineering changes between logical and relational model

when I am engineering changes between logial and relational model there are some issues at filter handling for me:
- When the filter "Show Modified Objects" is activated, the filter works only on the first level, e.g. on Entity level. On attribute level all attributes are displayed, not only the attributes which have really been modified. It is possible, to show on every level only the really modified objects?
- I think, selecting a Filter condition is circuitous. All filter conditions except "Show All Objects" keeps activated when I choose another condition. So I have to deactivate "Show Deleted Objects" when I want to see only the modified objects. It is possible to choose another control element for filtering, e.g. disjunctive radio buttons?
I am running Data Modeler on Windows XP with german localization and the JDK 1.6.0_11 from Oracle SQL Developer.

I logged bug for that.

Account "preferences" changing between home and work...

I'm not exactly sure what the issue is, but here goes...
On my MacBook I have only one user account (same as the administrator). At home, I connect to the Internet via Airport.
When I bring my notebook to work, I connect to the Internet via an ethernet connection. I do not have to login or any other maneuever to gain access to the Internet.
Everything works fine generally. One odd behavior I've noticed -- certain of my login items seem to disappear when I'm at work. Specifically, I have several Yahoo Widgets (Konfabulator) on my desktop. Only some launch when I'm at work. Also, it seems that certain changes to my desktop (wallpaper, location of icons, etc) change between home and work.
Any idea what might be causing this behavior? Thanks!

You will need a seperate "screen name" for each Mac in order to video chat. The nice thing is you can get another .Mac screen name by signing up for another .Mac account and and after the free trial, you can keep the .Mac screen name.

We have our Dev system with clients
310 - Developer make changes and create transport
400 - Test client
410 - a copy of our Production system (over 1 year ago0
TST - this is our quality system with one client

I know if i do a database copy from Production to our TST system, both systems would be exact.
Abaper Director wants to know all the configuration changes that are different between Devopment client 310 - Test and production.
I told him that in development client 310 the abaper or functional users make most of the changes if they do not get transported they would be missing.
I cannot copy to client 310 otherwise we would loose all of our version management.
Is there another way that I can see the config changes between all these clients.

Hyperlinks in e-mails and word documents no longer open a window

My Firefox was recently was upgraded (not my choice - you just did it) and now when I click on hyperlinks in e-mails (I use Entourage) and word documents the screen acts like it's getting ready to take me to a new window in Firefox but then nothing happens. I want this functionality restored, especially since many links do not spell out the web site.

Tonal change between develop and library module

After having applied some changes in the develop module when I switch back to the library module I am experiencing a sever foreground tonal change? I can add that the foreground in this particular photo had a grad filter applied. The tone shifts from a cool blue to a purple? Shooting with a nikon d5100 with ADL turned off as per other similar problems brought up in this forum. Which by the way I still experience but have learned to live with is that after import of RAW picture looks good for about a second then exposure changes.

Are you using a calibrated/profiled monitor? In Develop module, LR displays in ProPhoto colour space, in Library module it's Adobe RGB. If the monitor doesn't have a proper profile there could be differences in view between Develop and Library. However I would have thought LR would default to assuming monitors behave like sRGB if there's no profile (or no colour space info in the profile).

The usual cause for that is that Adobe can't read Nikon proprietary metadata such as Picture control settings. If you shoot with the Nikon Picture Control setting (Standard, Portrait or whatever) at default settings, and if you use the corresponding profile in Lightroom's "Camera Calibration" panel (Camera Standard, Camera Portrait etc) then the appearance should be very close to the out-of-camera jpeg preview appearance.

Explain plan changing between 9i and 11g

Recently we migrated the database from 9i to 11g.In 11g environment one query was running for long time and when we comapre the explain plan between 9i and 11g, we found one of the table is going through "INDEX RANGE SCAN NON UNIQUE" in 9i but in 11g it is accessing through "INDEX RANGE SCAN INDEX".
Is there any hint to add so that it will access table through "INDEX RANGE SCAN NON UNIQUE" in 11g?

I agree with Paul.
Why are you assuming that the optimizer in 11g, which has had bug fixes and vast improvements since 9i, is optimizing the query badly just because you think the query is running slowly.
Before making assumptions, you need to find the cause of the issue, not just look for differences in two non-comparible explain plans and assume that's the cause. Adding hints to force indexes and suchlike is not the answer (even though some idiots may suggest it is).
As it says in the documentation in relation to hints:

Language changed to Dutch and i can't get it bck t...

I changed my sim card on Nokia E52 and the languag changed automatically to dutch. and i can't return it back to english although i've chose english as my first language in settings.

Using the Oxford American Dictionary in Mail and Word

I find it is quite easy to right click on a word while in Mail, and look it up in Mac's Oxford American Dictionary. However, when I try this in Microsoft Word, it open Word's own dictionary, and I cannot find a way to get it to use the Mac's built in dictionary, which I prefer.
(Strangely enough, this happens on my intel iMac, but on my G5 it defaults right to the Oxford American)
Any help would be appreciated.

Link between mail and iPhoto not working

When I touched the photo browser link in Mail I used to open a direct link to iPhoto and Aperture so that I could quickly add a photo to my message. I failed when I tried to email photos directly from iPhoto so I fiddled with my accounts and now the link between the photo browser in Mail and my photo apps is broken. Any suggestions as to how I can reset the system/programs to communicate with one another.
