Unicode conv. Update Database Stats - DB20

Hi all
I am on SAP ERP2005 on Windows 2003 server 64 bit and MSSQL 2005. I am doing a unicode conversion, and as a prerequisite it is recommended that I update database statistics. I have tried to do the DB export using SAPInst tools, but the export fails on table STXH. A colleague told me to update the stats for this table.. DB20 was the obvious tool, but this is not supported for SQL 2005.. How can I proceed to update statistics?
Thanks!
Regards,
Thomas

Hi,
Use transaction DB02 => Detailed Analysis.
Select your table, and on the following screen you can select "Update statistics".

  • Constructing Database Update DML Statements

This is a very common problem I am sure but want to know how others handle it. I am creating a web application via Servlets and JSPs. I am working with Oracle 10g.
    Here's the problem/question.
When I present an html form to a user to update an existing record, how do I know what has changed in the record to create the dml statement? I could just update the entire record with the values supplied via the POST data on submit but that does not seem right since maybe only 1 out of 10 fields actually changed. This would also write needless audit and logging information to the database. I have thought about comparing the Request parameters sent with the post with the original java bean used to populate the form in the first place by adding it back to the request as an attribute. Is this the only way to do it or is there a better way?
    Thanks everyone,
    -Brian

What database drivers are you using? I recall there being some bug in
sp2 that caused delayed transaction commits for a very specific
combination of transaction settings and database drivers.
I think it was third-party type II Oracle drivers and local
    transactions, but I'm not sure.
In any case, I'd contact support as there is a patch available.

    Hi all,
I have posted something of this sort earlier too. The problem is that
the database is not reflecting what has been updated using queries from the
    application.
THe structure of the application is as follows.
    DB = Oracel 8.1.6
    Web Server = iPlanet 4.0
    App Server = iPlanet 6.0 sp2
The database is connected to via the EJB's. No Database transactions are
being used except for Bean transactions which are container managed. The
setAutoCommit flag is set to true. Each query is a transaction. The jsp's
call these ejb's through wrapper classes. As stated earlier the database
updates (Inserts, update, delete statements) are not getting reflected in
the database immediately. The updates happen after a gap of about 7-10
minutes. Why is this sort of behaviour coming up. This is almost like batch
updates happening on the database. Is there a setting in IPlanet for
    removing this kind of problem.

  • Failed to post data to database during "Update": SQL Statement

    Hi,
I'm getting this error while trying to update a VO via BCBrowser or UI.
Failed to post data to database during "Update": SQL Statement
This is a simple & straight forward default VO created on Entity Object (Database Table)
On the same table & with same DB credentials, I could successfully update the record.
Any Guess, on what went Wrong??

  • How to update database table !!!

    hi all,
Please advice how to update database table with certain cndition needs to be checked.
    Please consider below scenario.
have used enqueu and dequeue function to lock entries  and also i have used BAPI so considering that return parameter . i want to update table
    /tdk/st0027.
    1. I want to update database table
    2. there are certain condition needs to be checked like ,
       loop at it_final into wa_final.
    th_return-type = 'S'.
               if th_final-vbeln = /tdk/st0027-vbeln and
                  th_final-posnr = /tdk/st0027-posnr and
                  th_final-etenr = /tdk/st0027-sdslno.
above condition which i need to check .and need to append below system fields need to be appended in table.
              th_final-prstsind = '20'.
              th_final-chgdate  = g_date.
              th_final-chgtime  = g_uzeit.
              th_final-chgprog  = g_cprog.
              th_final-chguser  = g_uname.
              append th_final to td_final.
              update /tdk/st0027 FROM th_final.
              endif.
    endloop.
but i am getting error saying that  "The type od database table and work area (TH_FINAL)  are not unicode convertible"?
I am not able to understandwhat would be the solution for this ?
    Thanks and regards,
    Prasad K. NAralkar

The error occurs in the UPDATE statement included in the code. In this statement it is seen that there is a mismatch of structure defined for the DDIC table /tdk/st0027 and that of your work area th_final.
try to create a structure w.r.t the DDIC table.
    Eg: DATA: wa_temp TYPE /tdk/st0027.
    MOVE-CORRESPONDING th_final TO wa_temp.
Then try to UPDATE using the temporary work area i.e wa_temp which has structure similar to that of the database table.

  • Update database table

I have 1 million records in application server and I want to update database table from that.
Is UPDATE statement the best technique to do it.
Just wanted to know if there is any other better tehcniques.
Also i want to write the errors to job log. How can we do that?
    Regards,
    DNP

If they are all new records or all changes, it would be best to use INSERT or UPDATE. You will also want to do mass inserts/changes using an internal table. Since you have so many records, you will probably have to do this in chunks in order to avoid dumping on the rollback area.

  • Resolution to error - Unable to update Database Statistics

OK, If there's one thing i hate most about SAP, its the dreaded installation, I am always so paranoid, as to something will definitely go wrong,
Lately i realized that it aint my mind , but the damn installation itself is pretty damn stupid. Why cant SAP leave the installation packaging to professionals like installshield...
Unfortunately SAP doesnt think of it as a better idea, so until then lets try to resolve as many errors as possible thru these forums..
Here's one error resolution ,i am pretty sure, many are checking for..
Use the following procedure to resolve error
<b>Warning - "loading of sql client library oci.dll failed"
Error - Unable to update Database Statistics, Check BRCONNECT.log</b>
The problem seems to be with the SAP Patch Collection InstallMaster disc Material No.(<b>51032143_13</b>).
To resolve the problem, here's what needs to be done,
1)Install DB Instance as usual. Then after the installation errors out due to loading of sql
    client library oci.dll ..
2)I unsar the downloaded DBATOOLS.sar (Thanks for the Link Andreaz!!!)
log into sapnet (eg. service.sap.com) with your user-id/pwd:
-> downloads -> support packages and patches -> entry by application group -> additional
components -> sap kernel -> now chose either 32 or 64 bit; either unicode or non-unicode ->
sap kernel 6.40 -> windows server -> oracle -> download the package DBATOOLS Package for
Oracle 9.2.x ... brconnect is part of that package...
3)Copy the files in the Unsar'd package, as follows
         overwrite br*.exe to S:\usr\sap\R31\SYS\exe\run
         overwrite initSID.sap to S:\usr\sap\R31\SYS\exe\run &
    S:\usr\sap\R31\SYS\exe\nuc\NTI386
         overwrite libsbt.dll to S:\usr\sap\R31\SYS\exe\run &
    S:\usr\sap\R31\SYS\exe\nuc\NTI386
         overwrite sapdba_role.sql to S:\usr\sap\R31\SYS\exe\run &
    S:\usr\sap\R31\SYS\exe\nuc\NTI386
    4) Retry the installation again & Guess what!! it works....
Warning-: I initially tried a shortcut by replacing DBATOOLS.sar on the installmaster disc, rather than following above steps, but that doesnt seem to work, the installation fails as as soon as Tablespace creation starts. So the shortcut aint a good one..

Well, it looks like you resolved your problem yourself.
you can send feedback to SAP directly instead of posting this here in a forum.

  • Function in SQL: PRAGMA used, but '..does not guarantee not to update database'- WHY?

I use function in SQL statement. It is a dynamicaly build SQL, therefore I need overload functions. These funcs defined in package. The package has PRAGMA Restrict_References (.., WNDS). So all functions should be restricted to update database.
    But Oracle returns an error:

Can anybody help : where is a problem and what I can do in my case?
    I work in Oracle 7.3
    Thank you,
    Alex

    Hi Alex,
I've found that on the RDBS docs:
If you specify DEFAULT instead of a function name, the pragma applies to all functions in the package spec or object type spec (including, in the latter case, the
system-defined constructor). You can still declare the pragma for individual functions. Such pragmas override the default pragma.
Try using that and let me know.
The docs says also that the declaration of the pragma for an overloaded function applies to the nearest one. You may also try to insert several declaration, one after every function declaration.
    Bye Max

When you want to perform ddl statements in a (anonymous) PL/SQL block, you have to use dynamic SQL because ddl is not possible in pl/sql.
Dynamic sql means that you sort of execute ddl statements in a sql manner. To use dynamic sql, two options exist:
    - dbms_sql package : for oracle before 8i. To use this package is not always easy. Read about it carefully first before using.
    - Native Dynamic SQL : implemented in 8i and very easy to use. An example would be :
    declare
    lv_statement varchar2(32676);
    begin
    lv_statement := 'ALTER TABLE MY_TABLE DISABLE CONSTRAINT MY_TABLE_CK1';
    execute immediate lv_statement;
    lv_statement := 'ALTER TABLE MY_TABLE ENABLE CONSTRAINT MY_TABLE_CK1';
    execute immediate lv_statement;
    end;
    Good luck.

  • Xi JDBC Adapter - Query SQL Statement & Update SQL Statement

    Hi!
I configure the JDBC adapter sender (XI) to take data from Oracle database.
I set the Query and Update SQL Statement in the Processing parameters of the communication channel in this way:
    Query SQL Statement :
SELECT * FROM XI_TABLE WHERE STATUS = 'WAIT' ORDER BY ROW_NUM
    Update SQL Statement :
UPDATE XI_TABLE SET STATUS = 'DONE', DATE = SYSDATE WHERE STATUS = 'WAIT'
    My question is :
If a new record with the field STATUS = 'WAIT' is added to the table (xi_table) during the time between the execution of the query statement and the start of the update statement, what will happen to that record during the update?
There is a way to avoid the update of that record? or to pass to the update statement only the record selected in the query statement?
Please, may you give me some example?
    Thanks,

  • Sender JDBC adapter -- Update SQL statement NOT work for the last record

I'm trying to use SAP XI to send records from Oracle database to As/400 using JDBC adapter.  I've defined the communication channel for sender
    (1)  The "Query SQL statement"  = select  a_bgn_dt,  a_end_dt from  PX_PXXD WHERE NOT CU_ACTION_CD='P'
    (2)   The "Update SQL statement"  = update PX_PXXD set CU_ACTION_CD='P'  WHERE NOT CU_ACTION_CD='P'
Supposed that 3 records were retrieved from (1) and successfully updated to AS/400 but only the first 2 records in Oracle database are updated according to (2)
    Any advise.

    Hi Pansy,
You select and update query is looking like wrong
kindly check below query,If you are using oracle
    (1) The "Query SQL statement" = select a_bgn_dt, a_end_dt from PX_PXXD WHERE CU_ACTION_CD !='P'
    (2) The "Update SQL statement" = update PX_PXXD set CU_ACTION_CD='P' WHERE  CU_ACTION_CD !='P'

  • Sender JDBC adapter : Update SQL Statement : stored procedure

    Hi,
Can we use a stored procedure in the sender jdbc adapter in 'Update SQL Statement'.
The problem i am facing is like, we are selecting data from two tables in 'SQL statement for query' and then in 'Update SQL Statement' , we need to delete that data from these two tables.
Please let me know if it is possible.
    Thanks,
    Rohit

you can use a Stored procedure in the
    Query SQL Statement
    You have the following options:
    ·        Specify a valid SQL SELECT statement to select the data to be sent from the specified database.
    ·        Specify an SQL EXECUTE statement to execute a stored procedure, which contains exactly one SELECT statement.
The expression must correspond to the SQL variant supported by the relevant JDBC driver. It can also contain table JOINs.
so have your whole select and update as part of this single Stored procedure

  • Sender JDBC adapter donot want to update database..

    Hi,
We have JDBC to RFC scenario. In This we need to read only database table , we should not update it. As in sender JDBC adapter configuration Update SQL Statement is mandatory, so what needs to be done in this case?

    Hi,
In place of the SQL statement, you can also enter <TEST>. Once the data determined from Query SQL Statement has been successfully sent, the data in the database remains unaltered.
This is recommended if the data has not only been read, but also changed by a stored procedure entered under Query SQL Statement.

  • JDBC sender adapter, ...Processing parameters, Update SQL statement

in JDBC sender adapter, ...Processing parameters, there is an Update SQL statement field, can u tell me ...why this is required,,,,,and in one of the example scenario...it was given as <TEST>..

    Sudheep,
In the sender JDBC adapter you have the select query to select data from the database.
    Let us summer 2 cases,
    1. You have <test> in  the UPDATE . In this case, during every polling interval the JDBC adapter will end up selecting the same data from the Database. This would not be needed in most f the cases. Why would you want to select the same data over an over again?
    2. If you have an update Statement in the Update field you can make sure that the data selected in the selected statement is updated so that the same rows are not selected again.
Take a look at this blog,

    Michel

    Hi Michel,
I am sorry i misunderstood the question.. how are you getting the data from curdate() may i ask. What exactly is curdate()?
Is it a field in the database that you are retrieving?
What you could do is create another dummy field and maitain the current date in that field, in the format you want it to. Then you could use that field in the update statement as tableName.fieldName.
Use this to manage your date checks. Only that you would have to modify the date in the database every day.
