Unit of Measure in a Flat File

Hi,
I have mapped the following in transformations:
MEINH (Unit of Measure) & MEGBTR (Total Quantity) -
> 0QUANTITY
Now i need to load a flat file into that Cube. The Flat file is populated with quantity under 0QUANTITY. How do i bring in the unit of measure in this case (since i did not map MEINH to 0BASE_UOM but rather 0QUANTITY)?

I t will not be a problem but any way u r defining two fields at datasource level so up to that (means psa ) the data will come as two fields ,now from psa to target u r transformations will occer here both the qty and unit u r assing to quantity so at report level(or target level) the data will be along with it s unit.

Problem in Flat file transaction data loading to BI7

Hi Experts,
I am new to BI7, got problem in activating data source for transaction data and create transfer routine to calculate sales revenue which is not there in flat file but flat file has got price per unit and quantity sold.
Flat file fields are:
Cust id SrepID Mat ID Price per unit Unit measure Quantity TR. Date

When i created IO_QTY, unit/curency was given as 0UNIT. In creation of DS, under fields tab, extra field CS was shown I did confuse to which object should i map it. and at the same time when i enter IO_QTY its prompting one dailogbox with 0UNIT, so i said ok. Now i can't map CS to unit as system created automatic ally 0UNIT when i enter IO_QTY. Could you please give me solution for this and procedure to enter formulae for calculating Sales revenue at this level instead of query level. Your solutions will be more appreciated with points.

Risk in populating Unit of measure for commodity code (foreign trade) in ECC

We have recently implemeted product classification in GTS for the EU and US. We want to implement the transfer of tariff data from GTS to ECC via the standard GTS transactions /SAPSLL/SWN_RTR and /SAPSLL/SWN_RTR_R3.
Our compliance team is concerned about beginning to populate the unit of measure commodity code in ECC. I know this field is only visible when a supplementary unit is on the tariff number and is different than the base unit of measure on the material master. These additional units of measure must be configured in order for the XML tariff files to load properly.
One concern that has come up is the conversion of the base UoM to the new unit of measure from the tariff files. Are there other issues/risks I need to be aware of? My understanding is this unit is used only when reporting the products to the customs authorities.
I appreciate any guidance you can give me.

We implemented this, however, made an enhancement not to transfer the UOM to ECC. Our consultants are unable to clearly articulate the use of UOM in classification. I still have not have a complete grasp of UOM with classification. One thing we constantly run into, is job fails when external/internal UOM is not maintained during transfer of classification from GTS to ECC. Since we are not transferring UOM to ECC, we are now considering enhancement, so we do not have to maintain internal/external UOM from the files we receive from Customs Info. We have had a number of issues trying to figure out what to maintain as internal UOM for UOM sent by Customs Info. There is no ISO code to cross reference and makes it very difficult to figure this out.
Another thing that you need to be aware off - if you have products that is not classified in GTS and you have classification maintained in ECC, you can overwrite ECC values with blanks- the product master change/update date (for anything - not just classification) is picked up by the re-transfer job. We are currently making enhancements in the commodity code retransfer program, only to transfer when there is a value in GTS for classification.
I see Dave's message above " UoM is necessary for the calculation that supports your sourcing decisions as well as for your declarations to the authorities". I am really interested to understand the function of UOM in classification.

Unit Code, Commercial Code - Flat File loading vs BPS Loading

Hi SDN Community,
Recently, we have moved our flat file loading to be performed by BPS interfaces.
During flat file loads, the Commercial code of all units of measures, are verified.
eg.DAY
But when loaded by BPS, the UNIT code is verified.
eg. TAG.
In the display of the BPS upload, it displays DAY which is the commercial code.
The only thing, is the customer is forced to use TAG in the BPS upload files.
They wish to create another record in the transaction
CUNI to be
Unit code = DAY
Commercial code = DAY.
However, i have found that we cannot allocate the same commercial code to another unit code.
Is this a design constraint, or a process error that i am doing.

has 2 entries, 1 for english, 1 for German, should it not be that the
English EN entry field be working rather that the German DE, hence DAY

We really recommend you to use internal format TAG in the upload file
in BPS which I think should be acceptable and feasible to you. All
other ways trying to use external format is risky and we cannot assure
you that it will work well as it's not SAP standard function. (I think
it's not worth the risk as the standard function which requires
internal format should not be too unacceptable)

Creation of flat file

HI,
In flat file extraction my Business Scenario is Enhancements to the BI-located GL Account Master Data Table
In the NW Natural context the Unit of Measure and Statistical Key Figure Type values are GL Account-specific.
In data source maintain screen in BW when i click on the preview data then it shows an error as Error 'Unit GJ is not created in language EN...' at conversion exit CONVERSION_EXIT_CUNIT_INPUT (field UNIT record 2, value GJ)

Flat File to InfoCube Load Issue

Hello All,
              I am newbie in the SAP BW land. Probably a simple question to BW Experts.
This is crude implementation of the Fu and Fu example.
Environment SAP BW 7.0
Iam trying to load a flat file to the Info Cube.
1. I am able to successfully preview the data from the data sources
2. Also able to load the data to the PSA, which i see from PSA maintenance screen
Issue arises when i try to load the data to the Info Cube by running the DTP Process, it just does not load the data.
I ma unable to figure of what the issue is
Following the structure of the Flat File with 1 line of data

II think i made progress but i still do not see the data in the InfoCube
When i visit the PSA by
visiting the source system -> Manage PSA -> Select the line item -> PSA Maintenance-> I see the record completely like this

But when i run the DTP Process i see the following error message
I think this is due to a data type mismatch between flat file and the infocube.

Flat file data needs to be update in MM02 t-code with bdc

I have a requirement that flat file data shoud be update in MM02 t-code in basic data view (Units of measure ) columns .
I have no access in dev. for mm02 t-code but mm03 available.
Can somebody suggest how to approach this. I know through recording (SHDB) i will do.
But can i put mm03 instead of mm02 at the time of recording?

Characteristics - Fiscal year/period, Fiscal Year Variant, Plant, Product Code, Unit of Measure
Key Figure - DepotLossVol, GiveawayRegVol, Sales Quantity, Wastage
File Format Plant Product, Period, Sales qty, Waste, Giveaway, Loss
Other character. Has been restricted in planning level selection
The output - All the key figures are aggregating for Plant -# , Product- # and Period - #

How to maintain different unit of measure in the system

Hi,
I am using a flat file source system in which i am using a 0MATERIAL,0QUANTITY.
Now i need to load conversion factors into 0MAT_UNIT.
how to do this for flat files?
I have to do this to fill master data by right clicking on 0mat_unit and doing maintain master data and when i click on any fiels there like unit of measure and do F4 i am not able to see all the unit of measures like KG,CAN,PC etc...
plz tell me how to do this?

Thanks but since i am using a flat file source system and if i right click on the source system i dnt get the option "transfer global settings"...
the solution u have given is for R/3 datasources.

BW Flat file Load error

I am doing flat file in BW System. InfoPackage setting are as follows,
File is CSV file
Data Separator = ,
Escape Sign = u201C
In Transfer Structure all are char fields.
1st Filed is of length 18
2nd Filed is of length 18
3rd Filed is of length 25
4th Filed is of length 10
e.g of data in flat file is as follows
"00q80000003AmvHAAS","00530000000jSm8AAE","US02CALVER;H21020101","2008-11-24u201D
This data will load successfully every time, but if data comes like this
"00q80000003AmvHAAS","00530000000jSm8AAE","US02BVERFU;H21020101;H21020102;H21020104;H21020201;H21020202;H21020203;H21020204","2008-11-24u201D
Then in preview itself I canu2019t see the date(4th filed will be blank) it will blank or some times it will be some char like 200 or 2008 or 2008-11 etc.
Can you please tell me why this is so? How to solve this issue?

Line 1 will load correctly like this:

but line 2 will be cut off and loaded link this:
10000001|D|NA|1001|T|100000|M|USD|TO|CR|200701|20081|0.00
with the month to and amount incorrect.
There must be a length limit to the incomming text but it doesn't seem to relate directly to the field lengths of the transfer structure.

Mapping Quantity keyfigure in BI 7- Flat file datasource

Hi Guys,
I have a problem in creating transformations for Quantity key figure for flat file datasource. In my csv file quantity is just a number. i created a datasource and Infopackage and loaded data into PSA without any problem.
In cube i have quantity key figure of QUAN type with 0UNIT unit of measure. So when I try to map Quantity in datasource with quantity InfoObject, 0UNIT is empty. So I am unable to activate transformations.
Can somebody suggest me how to proceed with htis problem? Should I define Quantity key figure as just number?

you can take one more field on you flatfile.. as units(ex: KG or CM.. like that) beside of the quanity filed.. and now load it into PSA and now create transformations... and now map this units filed to newly added field...
you can try this option.. becasue.. when you are loading Quantity field data from flat file means we need to mention the units also..

I am using BW 3.5 . I am loading data from flat file which has a KF VOLUME and UOM as USG but it is giving error as Conversion exit error.(CONVERSION_EXIT_CUNIT_INPUT).

Its won't be a much problem.
Open your info source, in the Key Figures Transfer View, you can see a one column name called "Fixed Unit Of Measurement". Here enter "USG" for the Keyfigure VOLUME & Reschedule your info package.

Transfer structure sequence for Flat File

I am wondering is it realy important to maintain particular sequence in DS/TR str. for InfoObjects which are set up for getting constant value in TR rules. I am having trouble loading flat file. TR str. has some compounded characteristics like 0Fisvar for 0Fiscper and 0Co_area for 0profit_ctr both getting fix value in transfer rules. how to maintain flat file and TR str. sequence?

This is what I used to do.
If there is a compounded InfoObject or Key Figure that requires a unit (even though in your case, the compounded InfoCObject & the unita are always the same), You "need" add them in TS.
After adding them, this is what I will do:
Move them around to match the Flat File structure.
Now, the fields that are always constants & not coming from Flat Files, move them to the end.
They will be ignored. Your TR will populate them.
If you get an error now, that means your Flat File is not formatted correctly, apart from that, you are fine.

Error while loading flat file into DSO

Hi
I am loading data from a flat file into a DSO. My fields in the flat file are Trans_Dt, (CHAR) Particulars (CHAR), Card_Name, (CHAR) Exps_Type, (CHAR)
Debit_Amount,Credit_Amount,***._Amt,Open_Bal_Check_Acnt, (CURR)
0Currency (CHAR)
In the proposal tab apart from the above mentioned fields 3 additional fields viz, field 10, field 11, and field 12 have come. How did these 3 additional fields come when I don't have any additional fields in my flat file? I've deleted these extra 3 fields though.
When I activate the DataSource it is getting activated but then I get the message 'Data structures were changed. Start transactions before hand'. What does this message mean?
When I hit the 'Read preview data' button it doesn't show me any data and gives me the error Missing reference to currency field / unit field for the fields Debit_Amount,Credit_Amount,***._Amt,Open_Bal_Check_Acnt
How do I create a reference field to the above mentioned fields?
Earlier I didn't have the 0Currency field in the flat file. But in my DSO while creating the key figures by default the 0Currency field also got created which is quite obvious. Now while activating the transformations I was getting a message that 'No source field for the field 0Currency'. Hence I had to create a new field in my flat file called 0Currency and load it with USD in all rows.
Please help me in loading this flat file into the DSO.

Thanks a lot for your answers. with your help I could see the data in the 'Read preview data' and schedule the load. I did use all the Info objects in the info objects column of the data source to load the flat file.
The data is in PSA successfully without any issues. but when I executed the DTP it failed with errors.
Earlier there was no mapping from Currency field in source to the all the key figure fields in the target in the transformation. The mapping was only from Currency to 0CURRENCY but still the transformation got activated. As per your advise I mapped Currency field to the remaining Key Figure fields but then I am getting the error
'Source parameter CURRENCY is not being used'
Why is that so?
list of Errors after executing the DTP:
1. 'Record filtered because records with the same key contain errors'
Message:
Diagnosis: The data record was filtered out becoz data records with the same key have already been filtered out in the current step for other reasons and the current update is non-commutative (for example, MOVE). This means that data records cannot be exchanged on the basis of the semantic key.
System Response: The data record is filtered out; further processing is performed in accordance with the settings chosen for error handling.
Procedure: Check these data records and data records with the same key for errors and then update them.
