Unknown error occured (-15000) when trying to connect to AppleTV.

Hi all
I used Apple TV 2 to Airplay music files into a hifi system from iTunes (WIndows 7 through a wifi connection). After AppleTV did a software upgrade couple of months ago Airplay stopped working and I get "an uknown error occured (-15000)" after a few seconds of "connecting to "Apple TV" in iTunes. Interestingly, movie files in iTunes still wok fine and stream. It also works the other way around - if i try to play music through Homesharing on the AppleTV. Then I tried my iPad and same issue - music files won't stream but movie files do.
Desperately looking for a solution. Please help.
Thanks!

Did you ever get a response to this as I have the same problem?  Thanks Derek

Unknown error occured (310) when trying to connect to itunes store

This is probably due to a connection error.
I fixed this by navigating this route:
Control Centre > Network and Internet > Internet Options > Connections Tab > LAN Settings > Untick proxy server box (if ticked).
    Hope this solved your problem!

my iphone says an unknown error occurred (9) when trying to restore in iphone recovery mode

    Hey there ejs11201,
I see that you are getting an error code when attempting to restore your iPhone. Here is an article that addresses that specific code with some troubleshooting steps and will help you resolve the issue:
    Check your security software
Related errors: 2, 4, 6, 9, 1611, 9006. Sometimes security software can stop your device from communicating with either the Apple update server or with your device.
Check your security software and settings to make sure that they aren't blocking a connection to the Apple servers.

  • Getting "An unknown error occurred (-50)" when trying to download my purchases

For the past few weeks I've been getting "An unknown error occurred (-50)" when trying to download my purchases. I've tried downloading from past purchases and by clicking on the cloud symbol on the files in iTunes itself. Same every time.
I'm using iTunes version 11.3.1(2) running OS 10.9.4.

    Hi lachima,

  • TS1436 I keep getting unknown error occured(4450) when trying to burn a CD...running Windows Vista, any help would be appreciated

I keep getting unknown error occured(4450) when trying to burn a CD, running Windows Vista...any help would be apprciated.

I had this issue to when trying to burn discs recently. I went into the CD creation settings in iTunes and I "unchecked" the option to "Include CD Text" and after I did that, the disc I had been trying to burn several times with error, actually burned without fail. Give that a try and see what happens.

  • An unknown error occurred (-1) when trying to update my iPad to iOS7.

Last night I attempted to update my iPad 2 to iOS7. At some point during the process, the iPad locked up and I was presented with a screen instructing me to plug into iTunes for a system restore. I did so and after approximately 10 minutes, I received the following message, 'The iPad "iPad" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (-1)'. I have since re-tried about a dozen times to restore and keep ending with the same message. Is this just a case of the servers being overwhelmed? Should I try again in a few days when things calm down? Or has the update killed my iPad? Do I need to take it to the Apple store?
Thanks Apple... Frustration level is off the chart.

I am facing the same issue, have you had luck getting it solved?

  • Unknown error occurred (-23) when trying to update to ios 5

When I tried to update my iphone to ios5, I get the error message: There was a problem downloading the software for the iphone. An unknown error occurred (-23).
I have already updated itunes to the newest ver 10.5 already and I never had any issues updating my iphone 4 to the newest IOS previously.
Anyone has any idea how to resolve this issue? Thanks.

I just got off the phone with an apple support assistant pertaining to error -23. For myself, it is due to internet settings that my ISP provides that prevents the upgrade. (Are you in Singapore with the ISP Singtel? The apple support assistant specifically mentioned Singtel users as having the -23 error.) The apply support assistant adviced me to wait out for 2 business days and then see if I can upgrade. I hope this is the case for you too.
Otherwise, error -23 means either a hardware error or improperly configured settings, which shouldn't be the case if you have itunes 10.5 and the latest osx build.

  • I keep getting an unknown error occurred (-50) when trying to download

I just bought: episode 1 of season 1 of Lost Girl (Standard Definition).  It offered to start playing it.  When it did it, almost immediately, showed the above error.  Whenever I try to re-download the file, I get the same error.  I have run the network connectivity test and it says everything is fine.

Fingers crossed. But if you still run into trouble, perhaps try the "Error -50," "-5000," "8003," "8008," or "-42023" section in the Specific Conditions and Alert Messages: (Mac OS X / Windows) section of the following document:

  • I had itunes played from my PC to my music system that is connected through a nework.  It use to work fine, but now I get an error message that say "An error occured while connecting to the Airplay Device "Stereo".  An unknown error occured (-15000)".

When trying to play itunes from my PC to my stereo connected to an Airport Express, I gen an error that says "An error occured while connecting to the Airplay device "Stereo" an unknown error occured (-15000)".  This has happened before and for reasons unknown to me, the problem corrects itself, then it starts again/  Makes me wish I did not have my music on itunes.

moehadi, Welcome to the discussion area!
This is typically caused by a firewall or Internet security software running on your PC. Please read the comments in "Error -3256 or -15000 when streaming to AirPort Express base stations using iTunes".
Also there is "iTunes 8: Unknown error -15000 when attempting to stream music to devices connected to AirPort Express with AirTunes".

  • An error occurred while connecting to the AirPlay device "Apple TV". An unknown error occurred (-15000).

    Hi ,
I acquired an Apple TV (Gen3) a couple of days ago.
The Apple TV seems to be connected properly to WIFI (Good signal)
I watched streaming videos on Youtube and film trailers – the speed is ok.
I followed the protocol but, still, I cannot connect Itunes to the Apple tv.
    These are the error messages:
On the TV : apple tv could not connect to library
In Itunes: An error occurred while connecting to the AirPlay device “Apple TV”. An unknown error occurred (-15000).
Please note that Apple TV doesn’t appear in the list of devices in Itune’s preferences menu.
The Home Share is enabled on both devices and I connected with the Same Apple ID on each device.
    Airplay is on.
    Ref Apple TV :
    Apple tv: Model MD199HC/A
    Serial number DY******RHN
    apple tv software : 5.3(6105)
    Imac: OS X version 10.8.4
    I already tried to :
    Unplug/plug modem and router
    Test connectivity
    Disable the Firewall
Re-enable the firewall with Itunes in the list of ‘allowed’ devices
Re-set Apple TV (3 times) + Up to date
Re-start Apple TV and computer several time
    Itunes is up to date
    Could you please help?
    Many Thanks
    Sylvie

    Hi all,
    Thanks for your comments.
In my knowledge, there isn't any security software active on my computer.
After re-setting my routeur several times, I finally swapped it against an Airport Time Capsule.
It solved the problem, however, I would be interested to know if a (less expensive) solution exists.
