Unproffessional Comments form moderators

Dear Moderators,
I am member since 2006 and I used to participate in SDN fourum activiely in 2006 and 2007. That this I was the top contributer in From Priting. That  time most of the members used to open threads and once get the answers they used to leave it as it is.
I used to give a comments in all my threads that "Please Close this thread.. when your problem is solved andReward if Helpful"
due to my busy work I did not participated in furums since 2 year and since few days I am posting answers. Now also I am using the same comments at the end of my answers.
I observed that moderators are editing those messages or rejecting the postings. It seems the time has changed and all forum users are aware about how our forum is working..
One of the moderator kishan P has edited my positng and updted unproffessional comments. like "Welcome to the 21st Century. Do not beg for points."
I am surprised.... we all are working proffessionals and should have minimum knowldgede of respecting other proffessionals.
If the moderator really wants to say that donot ask or inform about points I think he can remove the post or edit it.. but I think it is not a proper manner to give such a comments.
Could you pelase give moderator status to the members who are good professionals or give some training how they have to respond to the new members... the comments should be encuraged enough to invite more professional but not to dissppoint them
Thank you for understandig...

Naresh and the Community,
Firstly, my apologies for the unprofessional words used. As has already been stated, there are times when we Moderators snap. This usually happens when a full-time employee with work pressures have to spend part of his time in:
- Moving 30-40 threads to the right subforum,
- Lock, edit and warn 10-20 threads
- Suggest 10-20 postors to use appropriate titles, informative questions, post questions in the right forum etc
- Edit 5-10 ASAP and Argent requests for answers
- Read through 10-20 Abuse Reports and act on them
on a daily basis.
Some people even after repeated requests and warnings just dont get it. In such cases, we propose their ID for deletion. And in between all these we get posts with a "request" for points - which as you must have found out is pretty obselete. This is where the usual snapping point comes. But yes, you are right we do need to maintain a professional approach.
As I stated earlier, some users just do not get it after repeated requests. In such cases, we as a moderator resort to various tactics - humour being one of them. This was one such case that probably went horribly wrong for me. And I sincerely apologize. I will be more polite in the future. People who know me here, probably already know I've already sobered a lot after the Moderatoral responsibilty and trying harder at it.
I would also like to thank you for pointing this out, as it will only make this community a better place for all of us.

  • Need easy to use comments form to post to webpage short-term

    I'm going to create a 90th birthday tribute webpage with photos etc about a former teacher. We have a past pupils (alumni) website for a now closed school. The average age of the people who visit is 55+ and have to keep it basic. I have created php forms to email for those who want to sign on to our database, label photos on the site etc. That's about all our audience can handle. The guestbook has captcha and it just confuses many users even though there are detailed instructions on how to post with photo guided tut as well!
    So I want to put a form under the BD greeting part where they can enter their greeting and hit submit and not bother with captcha. I don't want them to have to register which means they won't be able to edit their comments if there's mistakes.   I'm happy to monitor it daily to weed out any spam, or more likely-- posts with errors or duplicates as it's not going to be around that long.To let people know about the page, we will do a mailing and put the link to the page in the email inviting them to sign the card using the comments form.
    The idea is not to make the page public on the site's homepage until a day or two before his birthday which is in about 2 weeks. Then I plan to put an announcement on our homepage as he regularly visits the site and so it will be a surprise. Then he can visit the bd card page himself and see those who have posted their greetings, etc. Also, it will be there for anyone wants to add to the greetings and keep it open for another week. After that I will remove the form and tell people that if they want to add to the greeting, they can email us and we will post their greeting.
    Someone in our group said perhaps we should just ask for greetings to be sent back to us in the email sending the link and I put them on the site, but it sort of kills the participation factor...we like people to interact with our site. There are a few we know about who will have to have us do it for them because they are not online, but on our telephone list.
    Anyone have advice on how to make this really easy to use for the visitors??? Do I need to worry about script hijackers in this short time-frame?  Do I need to use Google webmaster tools to exclude it from the search engine?
    Thanks so much.... Lew in Bristol UK

    Look at Gentle Source's Comments script (they have front end and back end demos)

    Do I need to worry about script hijackers in this short time-frame?
    Any form processing script you run on your server needs to be secure.  Otherwise it's an open invitation to HACKERS and other threats that could compromise your server.  On shared hosting environments, many web hosts require you to use their scripts.  You may wish to ask your host which scripts they recommend.

  • How to create a comment form in Flash CS3

    I am trying to create an add comment form in Flash cs3. I
    have the background design and the text input areas and sub mit
    buttons. But how do I get the submit button to add the comment to a
    different area in the same flash file? My inputs and buttons are on
    the left side of the stage and my display comments is on the right
    side of the stage. How do I connect the two?

    The user types something into a text input space and when the
    user then uses the submit button, you want that same, user entered,
    text to display in another, different, text area? If that's the
    case then make that second text area a dynamic textfield and set
    its text property to the text property of the input text
    space.

  • Disable "Comments & Forms" in acrobat Print dialog

    Hi,
    I have a requirement whereing the user should not be able to select options in the "Comments & Forms" section of the Print dialog box while trying to print the PDF.

    But you can write a script that will hide all the comments and form fields
    just before the file is printed, and show then just afterwards.

  • How to style the blog comments form

    Hi
    Is there a way to style and remove html syntax such as <br> from the blog comments form?
    see screen shot.
    Thanks

    I've come up with a solution. By listening for ToolTipEvent.TOOL_TIP_SHOW on the data grid with capture, true the event handler has access the toolTip and can use the setStyle method of toolTip to change the styles.

  • Discard all comments, forms and multimedia with scripting

    Hi,
    In the PDF Optimiser under "Discard User Data" there is an option to "Discard all comments, forms and multimedia".
    This will remove multimedia from a pdf file.
    Can any one please advise if this can be done using javascript?
    I have looked in the javascript reference but cannot find anything in relation to this.
    Any assistance will be most appreciated, thank you.

    Thank you very much George.
    I have found where to remove multimedia in preflight under the "Select Single Fix Ups" then "Interactive Elements and Properties" then "Remove 3D annotations"
    I was unable to find this in the "select profiles" section of preflight.
    Placed "Remove 3D Annotations" as the preflight name but the script is not working.
    Can you please advise how I can get the script to work?
    var oProfile = Preflight.getProfileByName("Remove 3D Annotations")
    if( oProfile != undefined )
    var oThermometer = app.thermometer;
    var myPreflightResult = this.preflight( oProfile, false, oThermometer);
    if( myPreflightResult.numErrors > 0 ) {
    console.println( "Preflight found " + myPreflightResult.numErrors + " Errors.");
    } else {
    console.println( "Preflight found no Errors.");

  • Comment Forms? Layers within Tables? Crazy Idea?

    Good Day Dear Folk,
    I have designed a webpage using tables. I want to be able to
    put text in the table with the ability for viewers to scroll within
    the table. Layers have the option for scrolling text, correct? So I
    would like to put a layer in the table. I like using a table to
    center the content of the page. Is there a better way? Also, my
    friend wants visitors to be able to sign up for a newsletter and
    have the ability to leave comments about the site. I know this
    involves forms but I don't know about script writing. I'm more
    concerned about the comment form. She would like the comments to
    post directly to the page. Any ideas? Please help if you can.
    Thanks.

    > i converted my tables to layers and now it's like a
    whole new world.
    This could be equivalent to leaping from the frying pan into
    the volcano. I
    never recommended that you do that. Using Layers as a layout
    method is a
    very bad practice in general.
    1. ... any ideas?
    Are these PNG files NATIVE FW PNG files? Or did you export
    from FW as 8bit
    (or 32bit) PNG files? Try using GIF/JPG images instead.

    Crazy? No. It's needs like this that drive you to learn. Such
    a
    capability would require server-side scripting and database
    access. You can
    try some 'canned' approaches by Googling for 'guestbook' and
    see what you
    find....

  • Cannot comment on any blog that has an embedded comment form

    I cannot comment on any blog that has an embedded comment form; e.g., www.blogger.com and www.blogspot.com.
    Apparently, this has been a problem between Firefox and Google for over a year with no definitive resolution.

    I haven't had occasion to try commenting on either a Blogger or Blogspot blog, so I checked a couple past threads on this. Didn't see anything confirmed other than accepting third party cookies.
    You listed several add-ons that might have their own separate restrictions on cookies. Checked these?
    * BetterPrivacy 1.48.2 "Super-Cookie Safeguard"
    * Ghostery 2.2.1
    * Permit Cookies 0.6.2
    To see whether a plain vanilla installation of Firefox works, you could, as a diagnostic, create a new (blank) profile: [http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Managing+profiles Managing profiles]. You don't have to use it going forward, but if you can comment in a default configuration, then it's probably an add-on causing the problem.

    Hi,
    I have added a comment form to my clients posts on LizClegg.com Blog Post

  • Feedback/comments form in Captivate

    I'd like to create a feedback and comments form very similar
    to those shown at the end of the tips and tricks demonstrations
    here.
    Could someone let me know how I should go about this?
    So far I can create a multiple choice question and the long
    answer form, but users have to see the quiz summary and click a
    button to send the results from there, which arrive in csv form. Is
    there any way to let users click Submit, and I receive an email
    showing their multiple choice answers and comments?
    Thanks in advance. :)

    This question has been left alone for 10 days. I suspect the
    reason is htat no one wants to break the bad news. You cannot do
    what you are wanting to do - in Captivate. At least, no way that I
    know of . . . sorry.

  • Comment Form Error

    hi i placed an commenting form in the blogmodule.
    it displays perfectly but when you want to comment it shows this error
    ERROR: You are not able to rate this type of item.
    how to i solve that problem? what is causing it?
    (i already change the comment rules but that didn't work)
    Hope to hear a responds!!
    ( i don't know but on my other questions there are no awnsers for some reason)

    Assuming you placed your comment form into Module Templates / Blog Post Details Layout;
    If you've made used of the toolbox to insert your "Comment Form".....
    You may need to set the comment form action to be "/RatingProcess.aspx?OID={tag_blogpostid}&amp;OTYPE={tag_blogposttype}" as opposed to "/RatingProcess.aspx?OID={module_oid}&OTYPE={module_otype}"

  • Can I add a customer comment form to a standard product manual?

    We just recevied Acrobat X (and Frame 9 before that) and would like to use forms or form fields to get comments back on the docs (pdfs and HTML) from paying customers. So far, I have created a small form in a huge document (only 4-6 pages but with videos, fonts, etc.) and it's too big to email. Can I put it on a repository and get comments back? Is the adobe distribution server the only way to do this? Am I way off base with this concept? Thanks for any suggestions or clarification.

    Dear Ricardo,
    Step1) First create the java script file in that you have to write the following code.
    <script type = "text/javascript">
    function close_windows()
    window.close();
    function DisableBackButton()
    history.forward();
    </script>
    <html>
    <head><title> close </title>
    </head>
    <form>
    <script language="javascript">DisableBackButton();
    </script>
    <body>
    <input type = "button" value = "close" onClick="close_windows();"/>
    </body>
    </form>
    </html>
    step 2) go to se80 in that mime repository go to sap create folder and export the above file.
    step 3) go to your view where you want to add exit button.
               check the link and write the code to your exit button methods.
               http://scn.sap.com/thread/1911320
    Note : It will work only in Internet explorer
    Hope this helps u.,
    Regards,
    Jayesh

  • Add Columns to Sharepoint 2013 blog post comment form

    Hello, I'm trying to customize my blog site and to add two more fields Name and Country when users are posting a new comments. Is there a way to do this in Sharepoint 2013 foundation?
    Thank you.

    Wendy, Please go through this video from
    channel 9 (http://channel9.msdn.com/Blogs/NickDallett/InfoPath-2010-Customize-a-SharePoint-List-Form)  which will uilding froom explain similar form building from scratch.
    As per Peter's replay yes you can update form even after add columns in list and you can add extar control like button to your infopath form.
    Workflows are usually started when creating or updating an item inside a SharePoint document library.
    Open the workflow in SharePoint Designer and under "Start Options' on the workflow's home page, remove the check from "Start workflow manually...". Be sure the check either "Start on create..." or "Start on change...". In
    your case I think you would use "Start on create...".
    Hope these inputs will help
    Please 'propose as answer' if it helped you, also 'vote helpful' if you like this reply.

  • Comments and Moderators settings in RoboHelp Server is for AIR files? Or can it used for Pro outputs as well?

    Please explain how comments are enabled for Pro outputs in RH server. Is it only for AIR file, but i understand AIR output is not supported. Then how Moderators setting work for PRo outputs?

    Hi, PraTha
    If I can amplify what Peter has mentioned above. Actually it is just a wordy way of saying what Peter posted in one sentence! Hopefully it will help a bit.
    The relationship of AIR output and how it relates to Rh Server is admittedly confusing. In fact both are mutually exclusive.
    The AIR Help output does indeed support commenting as well as the moderation of those comments by designated people.
    However RoboHelp Server *does not* support commenting at this time. This feature has been requested and perhaps we will see it in a future release.
    Unlike a help system delivered by HTTP from a web server (like RoboHelp Server's WebHelp Pro), the AIR Help output (.air file) is an application which is installed on the end-user's local computer. For security reasons this works well for distributing and updating a help system. Optionally, it also supports commenting but because the comments must be "stored" somewhere outside the local computer, there are serveral options. One is to store them on an internal server (such as a network drive behind a firewall).
    So where might RoboHelp Server come into the picture at all? Here's the answer. Some organizations deploy both output flavors (AIR and RoboHelp Server) for different systems and different audiences. IF the RoboHelp authors *coincidentally* happen to have RoboHelp Server in their organization, then this server can be used to authenticate (usernames/passwords) for the moderation and storage of comments that AIR Help requires.
    The bottom line is that presently RoboHelp Server does not support commenting for its own output, though it can as a convenient "host" for the comments and moderation of a separate AIR Help system.
