Unwanted colored border around link graphics

Hello,
I would appreciate any advice on a problem I've run in to. On
a site I'm developing, I just went through and linked the pages to
each other using menu graphics that I created in Photoshop. Once I
did that, a colored border appeared around the images and I can't
figure out how to get rid of it. Here's a link so you can see what
I mean:
http://www.elisabethnaughton.com/new_site/index2.html.
I'm guessing that I accidentally did it when I changed the
link color. In the page properties, I designated one color for link
color, visited links, and active links (a dark brown). I designated
a lighter brown for the rollover link color. I'm not even sure why
blue and purple are appearing as borders, other than those are the
default colors, right?
Anyway, I'd appreciate any help you could provide on how to
solve this problem. I've finished all of the other tweaks and this
is the last thing I have before it goes live! :) Thanks!

Add =
a img { border:none; }
to your CSS file/spreadsheet.

  • Unwanted colored box around link

    Who can help me to get rid of the coloured line/rectangle
    that appears around my image the moment I make that image a link?
    In CSS the link appearances are not specified, in the page
    properties neither.
    I think I have to 'overrule' the settings somewhere (I.E.?)
    but cannot find it.
    Also, does someone know if it is possible to change these
    links-appearance-settings just for a certain layer?
    THANKS!

    Yes. I counted. 12 times already.

  • How can I put a colored border around the whole page?

    I just want to know how to pur a colored border around the whole page?

    Hi Rachel,
    Here's an example. Instructions follow the image:
    Start with a new, Blank word processing document.
    Insert a rectangle shape (the darker green is the default colour)
    Change the colour to your desired border colour, using the Fill Color well in the format bar.
    Set the Stroke to none, using the first popup menu on the Format bar. (I missed this step in the example, leaving the black line seen at the rigth edge of the pages.)
    Drag the handles to resize to shape to cover the whole page.
    Go to the View menu and choose Show Layout to see thae area that text will occupy.
    Insert a second rectangle shape on the page.
    Set its Fill colour to whatever bckground colour you want in the text area,
    Set the Stroke to none.
    Resize the second shape to fit just outside the text area indicated on the Layout.
    Select both shapes, then go Arrange > Group.
    Go Arrange > Move Object to Background.
    Go Format > Advanced > Move Object to Section Master.
    If either of:
    Go Arrange > Make Background Objects Selectable
    Go Format > Advanced > Make Maste Objects Selectable
    have checkmarks beside them,
    Select that item to uncheck it.
    The frame will now appear on every page in the section.
    Regards,
    Barry

  • Creating a border around the graphic

    Hi,
    What's the quickest way to create a one pixel border around a graphic using Photoshop?
    I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

    Select All (Ctrl+A)
    Edit > Stroke.  Set the stroke to 1 pixel, Inside, colour of your choice.

  • Border around link image

    I placed an image, then linked it. Now I have a bright blue
    box around it. Any ideas on why it is doing this?

    Use CSS with this rule -
    a img { border:none; }

  • Jpg Link - Cant Change Border Around Link - Explorer

    I am creating a website in Blues, oranges, and some greens. I
    have made some simple jpg buttons in the color scheme. I set the
    Page Property- Link color and Visited links to orange, which is
    what I want - but in Explorer they have a Fuscia border around them
    which really messes up my color scheme.(only the linked jpg's not
    all the others) However, in Netscape the jpg/link border is orange,
    as I set up, and they look good. What can I do to make the Fuscia
    go away?

    Add border="0" to the <img>:
    <img src="image.jpg" alt="image description" width="300"
    height="200"
    border="0" />

  • Unwanted white border around a div

    I placed a div that I am using for a background. Before I add an image I am testing it out by giving it a blue background. I have the width and height set to 100% and left to 0px and top to 0px. When I test it in a browser (IE 8) or view it in Design view it has a white border around it. There is no border setting or margin setting. Is there some preference setting in Dreamweaver that makes this aproximately 10px border? If so how do I get rid of it?

    Thank you both - that helped to clear up some of the issues but others remain. I'm assuming I can keep the dialogue going but will start a new thread if that is required.
    I uploaded the page and css files to my server. The page file is http://www.wlvs.com/untitled-1.html and the css file is http://www.wlvs.com/test.css  I ame using these file to try out styles. The background div (backgnd) will ultimately be an image but for now I'm just using a color. The "wraper" has an image that I gave a padding to at the top and bottom and for some reason it is showing a dark blue color. - I thought it would allow the background color to show through - shouldn't it??
    The other issue is centering the logo in the "header". I suppose I could use <center> but I am trying to figure out what is the css code for doing it. Nothing seems to work. I was able to center the "wraper" image but could not do the logo.
    Any help would be much appreciated...

  • Unwanted thin border around DIV

    So I have two pages (not online yet) in a site I am builing.
    They both have an arrow rollover (about 60x40px made in PS), The
    first one is fine and the arrows sits on the background seemlessly.
    I used the same master file, but changed the arrow color. Made
    another page but on this page I can see a thin white border around
    the 40x60 box the arrow sits in . The border bvalue is set to 0. It
    sits on black. I tried no BG color, and Black BG color and neither
    made a differnce. I am really stumped. What causes a thin white
    outline around and object/DIV like this?

    The image itself probably has the border in it. Remake the
    image and be
    careful when you export it to make sure there is no border.

  • Border around links

    Just bought CS3 and dreamweaver adds a blue border to a link
    when a pic is inserted. anybody know why or how to turn it off?
    Thanks
    gcs

    CS3 wants you to learn/use CSS.
    1] Select the image on the page and type 0 for the Border in
    the
    Property Inspector.
    2] Or better - add this to your CSS to remove the border
    around every
    image link:
    a img {
    border: none;

  • Unwanted box appears around link

    I have a vertical spry menu bar containing text that is linked to an anchor. At first it looks fine, but after I click on one link then a box witha  dotted border appears around the linked text that my mouse is scrolling over. • How do i remove the red dotted border around links?

    On several websites (Facebook, Twitter, Hootsuite, etc) any link is outlined by a red dotted border. I don't know if I inadvertently changed a setting but it never was like this before and I can't figure out how to disable the dotted border from showing.
    Any help?

    There are browser.display.focus* prefs that you can check on the <b>about:config</b> page to see if the have the default value.

  • Unwanted lightening effect around placed graphic

    I originally posted this in the InDesign forum but that may have been the wrong way to approach it.
    I have an Illustrator vector graphic placed in InDesign, it's over a dark background.
    Placed by itself the graphic looks fine, exports to PDF fine and prints fine.
    However, there is a drop shadow effect added to the frame in InDesign (using the regular select tool), after which the placed graphic still looks fine.
    There is, unfortunately, an invisible lightening effect added to the graphic which only manifests in the printed PDF.
    This lightening effect is not visible in the InDesign file and is not visible in the PDF on screen (even when I check the separations), it is only visible on the printout of the PDF.
    Since it is not visible in the PDF, here is a simulation of the lightening effect:
    http://img27.imageshack.us/img27/8025/windoweffect.jpg
    Anyone experienced anything like this?

    It could be anything, but probably due to flattening issues on PDF export.
    This is your screen shot, background removed, the two colored rectangles added in ID, added text for "The Gathering," the PS file added and the drop shadow effect applied to the PSD file from within ID. Screen shot is from the PDF.
    Take care, Mike

  • Automating a border around graphics that is 5in wide and .5in from top/bottom of graphic w/stroke

    I have a repetitive task at work that sidetracks me from my 3d work quite a bit.  I take graphics that are converted to .ai from Coreldraw.  My task is to create a border around the graphic that is either 5in wide or 6.5 wide and whatever height I need, usually .5in from the top and the bottom.  Then I group them together (which isn't 100% necessary), save them back out for the desktop publisher to use in Indesign.  So essentially I need a script to access the data from the entire graphic and create this border rectangle around it and center them together.  I would also like it to be able to choose that if a graphic is 4.8 wide to make the border 6.5, and likewise if it's less that 4.8 wide then create a border that is only 5in wide.  This whole process is necessary to import the graphics into indesign.  This would save our company LOADS of time.  Any help would be appreciated.
    EDIT:  As well the stroke needs to be aligned to the inside.  This may be a very simple script, I'm just pretty new to scripting in Ai.

    If there is no border it comes into ID blank.  I'm not in the loop on their workflow but before I started
    writing this script I asked why they needed the border and why it had to be aligned to the inside.  I'm to the point of just making the script and save myself hours a day rather than question their pipeline issues.  It's keeping me from getting my 3d work and animations done having to mess with it so...Here's the code I have so far.
    'Variables
    Set appRef = CreateObject("Illustrator.Application")
    Set docRef = appRef.ActiveDocument
    set artHeight = docRef.groupitems(1).height
    set artWidth = docRef.groupitems(1).width
    'Set variable to adjust width depending on art width
    If artRef.width >= 325 then
        set rectWid = 468
    If artRef.width < 325 then
        set rectWid = 360
    End If
    End If
    'Make rectangle height 1 inch taller than the artwork
    set rectHeight = rectHeight + 72
    'Create rectangle
    set rectRef = docRef.PathItems.Rectangle (700, 50, rectWid, recHeight)
    rectRef.stroked = true
    rectRef.filled = false
    'Create white color and variable
    set colorRef = CreateObject("Illustrator.RGBColor")
    colorRef.red = 255
    colorRef.blue = 255
    colorRef.green = 255
    'Apply the color to the stroke
    rectRef.strokecolor = colorRef
    This is my first script for Ai and I haven't worked with VB code in a good while.
    I can't find a way to set the groups height and width to a variable to I can add to them to give dimensions of the border.  As well I can't find an attribute to align the stroke to the inside of the rectangle.
