Unzip Files WITHIN IFS?
At a recent demo, Oracle showed how IFS automatically expanded the contents of a zip file uploaded into the db. Now that I have 9iFS, I can't find how to do it... any help?
Chris, Portal 3.0.9 can do this, but I wasn't aware that IFS could as well.

I have been playing around with the new zip functions in labview 8. I like it, nice and simple. Then I realized something. They don't have any functions listed to unzip files?!?! Am I missing something, or is there another method to call zip files in labview, unzip to a location, and then grab files from the unzip within labview programatically? The only method I can think of is to have winzip installed on the machine so you can use the command line execute function (but that is an awful method IMHO). I would have thought that if NI got the license to build zip files they would have also gotten the rights to include the unzipping as well.

ZIP/Unzip support as native VIs is not very practical. Compression is a very tricky business and developing such algorithmes in a way that always works is not very easy and quite time consuming, not to mention that LabVIEW is not the ideal invironment to do low level bit shuffling and manipulation.
Combine that with the fact that there are ready made and VERY throughly tested open source libraries with the needed functions (of course mostly in C) and you really realize that trying to reinvint that wheel in LabVIEW itself is simply an exercise in vain.
The OpenG ZIP/UNZIP library is based on the wide spread zlib library that just about compiles on any C compiler that dates from after the early 1960ies and so it should be no problem to grab the according C source code from the OpenG Toolkit depository on sourceforge.net and recompile it with the correct C toolchain for your CRIO realtime target.
Oh and if you mean to transport the unzip algorithme to the FPGA target instead of the realtime target, keep dreaming. Once the FPGA chips start to reach the 1 Billion gate count this could actually start to get feasable. 3 Million gates is really nothing for such a task.

How to read/unzip a specific file within a zip file
Hi,
I have a file within a zip file that contains a timestamp - I want to read this timestamp and then create a destination directory for the remaining zip files to be unzipped into. Since I know the name of the file with the timestamp in it I thought I could create a zipfile and use getEntry to get the entry but then other than getting the size and name of the file I can't do much more with it like read it unless I use a stream (zipinputstream) instead of a file (zipfile) - do I have this right?
Does this mean to get the content I would have to loop through possibly all the files using the stream until I come across the one I want - then get the timestamp and loop through them all again to write them to the destination directory? Or am I reading this wrong - seems a bit round about.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanksthis works though - and you don't have to loop through all the files - just use the ZipFile:

How to unzip a zip file within another zip file
I've got code that successfully processes a file within a zip file.
But now the zip file can also contain other zip files. How can I
process a zip nested within a zip without actually extracting the
files? It looks like I need a ZipFile object to be able to take
advantage of the zip classes for reading zip entries. But the
ZipFile methods want as an argument an actual file, as opposed
to some object in memory. I can read the 'inner' zip file into a
ZipInputStream object, but then how do I make that available for
processing as a ZipFile? I've searched all over and cannot find
anything anywhere that talks about working with nested zip files.

You cannot have the code - it is proprietary.
However here are a few pointers:
o Use ZipStreams rather than ZipFile.
o ZipStream is just a filter on a stream, so you can have a zipstream open, read a ZipEntry, then ask for a substream for the stuff up to the next ZipEntry. Put a second ZipStream on that substream.
o As I recall you have to watch out that your inner ZipStream does not do a close. (Everything will get closed.) Instead, there is another ZipStream method that will close without closing all the underlying streams.

I have a requirement to retrieve a zip file from the FTP Server, unzip it to the SAP Server and process the unzipped files. Retrieving the data from the FTP server should work via FTP commands which can be executed from within an ABAP program. However, the problem is unzipping these files via ABAP and put them on the server as well. 1. How to do this from within an ABAP Program? (unix commands?)
2. Can I unzip these files with or without using the folder structure? (additional parameter for unix command?)

FrankTake a look at class ZipFile.
o Create one on your input.
o Get an enumeration of the entries - the headers for your files within the zip file.
o Ask for the input stream of the file you want.
o Read the data - it is unzipped for you. -
Is there any solution to unzip a file within Oracle utilities then can be used to load an Oracle table and then schedule the process to unzip the file?

You can write for example a java class that will unzip the file (using java.util.zip), you can call methods directly from Oracle, using external procedures.
Then from unzipped file you can create an external table and using that table load your database table, of course you can also also use SQL*Loader to load data after you unzip the file.
But I think the easier option would be to write a program / scripts that will unzip the file on OS level, and then from Oracle you will create external table or using sqlldr utility you will load the data.

Unzipping Files in the wrong folder

I am trying to unzip files. It works fine except that it unzips the files at the root. So i have tried specifying the path for making the directory (in which the unzipped files are stored). But that doesnt seem to work. Now i am unable to find the unzipped files. CAN ANYONE HELP PLEASE

If the folder has another folder inside . it doesnt show that one. or rather just unzips one folder & no folders inside it. But i guess i can check for that

Batch code for running a find/replace all on multiple files within a source floder/directory
What I need is a Batch source code that will open all files in a folder/directory and run a find and replace_all query within them and then save all the files. The files were created in Illustrator and saved using the Scene7 FXG format extension. These files will be uploaded into Scene7 as a group after the find and replace macro/query is run on the code. The same find and replace query will be the same for all the files. Basically this function or batch process will save time in setting the same parameters all at one time instead of having to set the parameters individually in scene7.

I could probably come up witha simple program to do what i want for one document but i get lost when dealing with multiple documents in a source folder (prolbem is, I will be dealing with thousands of documents not 100 or less)

In my FTP client I can click to sort by date modified which is fine if you are in a folder and then it shows the file dates correctly - but any folders within the root folder don't they seem to display randomly all together at the bottom of the list and it is a nightmare trying to find what folders have files in them that have been changed.
Is there any way to get the folder to register the last date of a file within it that was modified?I dont know the answer yet, but i have noted what appears to be a bug in 10.9 in how it handles folder dates. Right now i am seeing folder modified dates changing randomly ot "today" - whatever date the parent folder was opened.
In the past my folders "modified" date was always the same as the last modified date of the items within. But this only moved down ONE level - if a subfolder's entries were updated the "gradfather" folder did not update.
But now severa people are reporting random, incorrect folder dates. I hoep this will be corrected soon, but who knows?

Okay, i have 2 bugs with maverick. First, when I delete a file within a window, the files deletes but the preview doesn't delete until I close the window and reopen it. Second, I work on a network of computers and the search feature is now buggy... When I search for a file, A) it asks me if it's a name, or it wont produce anything, and B), its slower than in prior OS versions and in some instances I have to toggle to a different directory and go back to my original directory in the search: menu bar or the search wont produce anything... Very buggy.
It appears to me that network file access is buggy in Maverick.
In my case I have a USB Drive attached to airport extreme (new model) and when I open folders on that drive they all appear empty. If I right click and I select get info after a few minutes! I get a list of the content.
It makes impossible navigate a directory tree.
File access has been trashed in Maverick.
They have improved (read broken) Finder. I need to manage a way to downgrade to Lion again. -
I recently moved my files from a windows xp pc to a new widows 8.1 pc using PC Mover Express. When I open up a file within the itunes folder, it opens to the default player xbox 360 media player. How do i transfer my itunes folder so it opens up in my itunes account?

Can you manually move files within a folder to put them in a specific order?
I am new to mac, I was wondering if there is an app maybe that you could move files within a folder (ie photos) to make them in a specific order and then rename them, I used to be able to do this with my windows xp..... cant seem to make it happen with my new macbook pro and from what i can gather it cant be done? can it? In the Finder? You probably have a sort selected in the Sort By submenu in the View menu. However, the order of icons in icon view won't have any influence on the order of the images in the slideshow, I think. Use iPhoto, this is one of the things it's made for, the Finder is not. -
Encrypting an external hard drive and specific folders within. Permission denied using disk image.

You can't encrypt a single file. I'm not sure what you did to try. You can make an encrypted disk image which begins with a folder, if desired. Or, you can just create a blank, encrypted disk image, then move your desired files into that.
While you could partition off the free space without erasing the disk, you cannot encrypt it because you need a GUID Partition table which requires you to repartition the entire drive, not just the free space.
