Update application which uses Web Services library

Hello!
I am developing an application in which a Web Service is imported into a LabView Library. My virtual instrument (vi) has some functions/references of the Web Service, used from the lvlib.
My problem is that when I update the webservice (change or add a function) or install the webservice on another computer, I need to update or create another library. And after this, I have to re-write the whole vi, or atleast delete all the references and then add them again.
Is there any way that I don't have to delete and re-insert references after updating the library? I couln't find any mention of such problem anywhere on "ni" pages or in forums.
Thanks ahead.

Hello Christophe!
Thanks for your concern.
Due to security reasons, two days back I requested the moderator to remove the attachments.
Please send me your email id on which I can send you the files.
Also, I am attaching the screenshots which can equally give explanation of the problem.
As you can see, I have used some functions from my .lvlib which was imported from a machine hosting the webservices. The question is, if I change the ip address of the machine, then I have to recreate the .lvlib and then one by one remove and add functions from the new .lvlib, is there any way that I just update the targetted IP address in these .lvlib or functions?
Best regards,
Vaibhav

  • What is the best way to deploy application that uses web services?

    Hi all,
I'm having some problems figuring out the best way to deploy our app now that we've switched over to using web services.
I'm fairly new to Java and web services. From what I understand, JNLP and WebStart are methods to deploy Java clients to users and not for creating war files and the like.
    Here's a little background:
We have a large PowerBuilder/Oracle application. The db consists of over 500 tables and the client consists of several thousand PB components. A user creates "transactions" which contain a series of "sub-transactions" within. Most of the data is collected and stored locally in the client in a series of datastores. When the "finalize" happens, the records are validated and sent to the database.
We are in the process of moving each of the subtransactions (currently in the PB client) into subPROCESSES on a java project. We are using the JAX-WS framework to develop the web services in Netbeans. These web services aren't much more than remote xml as the messaging technology. For writing data back to the database, we are using the Java Persistence API to function outside of an EJB container but will shortly be migrating to the Glassfish application server to use several of the EJB container frameworks including the EntityManager.
We haven't attempted any type of deployment and are unsure of where to start. Any suggestions would be so helpful and appreciated!
    Thanks!

It is for launching rich client GUI based (AWT, Swing, SWT..) applications onto the end-user's desktop.
There are some parts of JWS that might seem peripherally useful to the installation of a web-app., but it is really not a 'good fit'.
    >
..Any suggestions would be so helpful and appreciated!>You might try the forums for the 'web tier' APIs.

Or perhaps the forum 'Java Technologies for Web Services' (under 'enterprise technologies')
    <http://forum.java.sun.com/forum.jspa?forumID=331>
This one in 'BigAdmin' seems particularly relevant, 'Set up and Deploy'

  • How to exchange a java object  between two applications using web service?

    Hi,
I am working with Eclipse 3.2 and the application server is weblogic 10.
I have two applications, each one works in an instance of the server.
The first application contains a method called "send " which return a java object.
The second one contains a method called "receive" which must receive this object.
The two applications must exchange the object using web service,
    Can you help me please?
    Thanks.

Have you defined your service class/methods accepting, or returning, the appropriate objects? If so, does the generated WSDL appear to be correct? I have just completed a web service project and found that passing specific objects to be simple, however, I was passing objects which were simply container objects with bean characteristics. Also, might I suggest that you have a play with netbeans. I found that IDE to be great for creating and consuming web services!

  • Update key mapping via web service

    Hi ,
I have a question about edit key mapping. The problem is that we create vendors in MDM and syndicate them to different ERP systems. To decide which system a new vendor/changes must be send to, I need the Edit Key Mapping, but the users do not want to enter this information manually and I do not see how I can create key mapping automatically.
We are working on a new solution where vendors are entered in sharepoint and updated in MDM via web services. I would like to know if one of you know if key mapping can be maintained via a web service.
    Kind regards
    Jonna

    Hello,
    You may use the document,

  • "Headless Flex" as a Web Services library for Spry

A few weeks ago I asked if there was any way a cross browser
web services library could be built into Spry. This would allow us
to access the SOAP web services that we built for our Flex
application. No positive answer came back on the forum.
It appears that the browsers all have varying ability to act
as a web services client - in many cases it is not possible or
    practical due to browser limitations.
That killed my plans for developing a Spry based equivalent
    of our Flex application.
It has since occured to me that Flex itself could be used as
the cross platform web services client library used by Spry to get
the required XML data to fill the grids and drive the other Spry
controls. This is "Headless Flex" in which Flex and its ability to
be called by external Javascript could be used to provide cross
browser web services client functionality. "Headless" because Flex
is not used for display or user interface functionality, but for
extending the programming capabilities of the browser and making up
    for deficiencies in the browser.
So a question for the Adobe Spry development team - is there
any chance that you might be able to include "Headless Flex" web
services client functionaliy with Spry allowing the seamles fusion
    of Spry with web services?
    Thanks
    Andrew

    I have the same problem...
Did you find out the solution?
    I would be very grateful
    Thanks!

  • OutofMemory Error while sending file to database using Web services

I have a file of 30MB to be written to the MySQL database. I am doing this in Axis web services and it gives me the following error:
(I am using Tomcat as the application server and Apache as the web server, Axis 1.3 and MySQL standard 5.0.21 version. I have set the minimum and maximum heap size and it works well without using the web service (just uploading and downloading from the database using a simple java program). Another thing to notice is that I can send a file of almost 10MB size to the database using web service without any problem. But it doesn't work with the 30 MB .)

Sorry for the delayed response here, forget to add it to my watchlist. I didn't catch if you were using Java 1.5 or not. Prior to 1.5 the default maximum heap space was 64MB which with the overhead of the appserver might be your problem.
Take a look at http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/guide/vm/gc-ergonomics.html and the java -Xmx <size> command line option to change the default (I believe the size argument is in bytes, but don't hold me to that). I think you can pass that as a command line option to the startup script, but you should check the doco to see if it needs to be wrapped in some other arg etc.,
I seem to recall running into this same problem a few years back when I had a servlet doing some intense graphics processing on the fly and setting this option fixed the problem.

    Hello,
I have found some Debug entries into my log file when this BPM process executes and go in Suspend mode. I do not understand the error. But this Begun entries have Green symbol which I understand there should not be any problem. But then why my process goes to Suspend mode??? If you like then I can also provide this Debug entry message from log file in order to get the idea about this problem.
I use Logical destination on automatic BPM step. Which has WSDL link. This wsdl link I have test into WS Navigator which works fine. But I am wondering why it is not working in my BPM process?????
does any one has idea what to do?

  • Issue using web-service with forms9i

    using web-service with forms9i
    Hi
I have a setup of oracle9ias release 2 on solaris machine. I have made a web-service which is deployed on nt machine on weblogic server. I have made a call from my form (forms9i) to this web-service. When i try to use that web-service after deploying my form on solaris, it initializes the web-service and performs the action successfully. Now the problem is that my form also makes a call to report server to generate a report. The problem is when i initialize the web-service and uses its function it works but after that making a call to report server will fail. Also if i make a call to report server first, it generates the report and then i make call to the web-service, then that web-service fails to run. And in both cases, the forms application stops saying session has aborted.
Why cant i make call to both the things in one session of application? What could be the reason for that? Need help urgently.

    Sorry,
I didn't know that this was necessary to find a solution.
Here are the definition out of the WSDL File:

  • Why should I use Web Services?

I am managing an Internet project for my company. We exhaustively use IIS, ASP and SQL 2000 Server and until today we feel very comfortable with those tools. We successfully developed some COMs also to make additional work. As a personal interest in my free time I am learning Java. I began two months ago and using certain APIs downloaded from the net I could develope applications and applets for an SMS messaging system interacting with a real cellular phone provider. I also had to learn about RMI and implement it in this project. That system now is working nice. So I was encouraged to learn more about Java and I found the Web Services world. Everybody is talking about it(and .NET of course), in the net, in magazines etc.. So, I decided to learn about Web Services.
I read these paragraphs at the beginning of the Web Services Tutorial:
"In a typical Web services scenario, a business application sends a request to a service at a given URL using the SOAP protocol over HTTP. The service receives the request, processes it, and returns a response. An often-cited example of a Web service is that of a stock quote service, in which the request asks for the current price of a specified stock, and the response gives the stock price. This is one of the simplest forms of a Web service in that the request is filled almost immediately, with the request and response being parts of the same method call."
Maybe I am not able to understand the concept but this is more or less what I get using for example an ASP or an RMI or a Servlet, don't I?. Ok, there is no SOAP involved in those methods mentioned but still I have a request, and response and so on. So, what is the advantage I will get working with a Web Service?. Can anybody explain me?
    Regards,

Here are a few reasons why. Enjoy!!

What Can Amazon Web Services Be Used For?
Although Amazon Web Services is a cool technology, it also provides the very useful function of enabling business partners to interact with Web site through standard protocols. This interaction can lead to a deeper, more valuable relationship for parties involved. Here are a few of the ways that partners are benefiting from Web Services:
Associates: Associates program enables Web sites to link to Amazon.com and earn referral fees for sales that they drive through their links. Many Associates are now using Web Services to build more effective links to our store, thus enhancing their sites and earning more money.
Sellers and Vendors: Amazon.com has thousands of third-party sellers who offer their products on our Web site. Using Web Services, these sellers can more easily manage large quantities of inventory on our platform, and download the latest product information to make sure that their products are competitively priced.
Developers: Among the thousands of developers who have signed up to our Web Services program, many are now creating solutions to help other people work with Amazon. These solutions are powered using our Web Services APIs.

  • Exception in transaction commit when using Web Service Atomic Transaction

    Hi all,
I am following this tutorial from Oracle on how to use WS-AT
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E14571_01/web.1111/e13734/transaction.htm
A brief description about my application, which is wrote in JDeveloper:
Two applications, one for web service and one for client.
The WS is backed by an stateless EJB, which use JPA entity to do operations on the Oracle XE DB. The EJB transaction is container-managed, and the Entity Manager is retrieved from the JTA Datasource by using @PersistenceContext
I put this on the EJB implementation class:
    @WebService(...)
    @TransactionAttribute(value = TransactionAttributeType.MANDATORY)
    @Transactional(version = Transactional.Version.WSAT10,
    value = Transactional.TransactionFlowType.MANDATORY)
On the client application, I use another EJB to call the WS. The proxy and all generated types are created properly by JDev. I put this on the @WebServiceReference point in the client EJB:
    @Transactional(version = Transactional.Version.WSAT10,
    value = Transactional.TransactionFlowType.MANDATORY)
The client EJB is also annotated with:
    @TransactionAttribute(value = TransactionAttributeType.REQUIRED)
Both applications are deployed successfully in the integrated weblogic server. But when I run the method in the client EJB that call the WS to do a persisting operation on the DB, the following exception is thrown:
    javax.ejb.EJBException: BEA1-00227DF3AF249E472B1E: javax.transaction.xa.XAException: Failed state during prepare of WS-AT XAResource ...
    which causes:
Exception occurred during commit of transaction Name=[EJB +_the client EJB's calling method_+
The weird thing is, if I call a method which does a simple System.out.println (no DB related operation) then no exception is thrown.
Furthermore, if I switch both WS EJB and client EJB to use bean managed transaction, the transaction is not propagated properly, as I see that UserTransaction in the WS EJB does not have the same status as UserTransaction in the Client EJB.
Hence I'm suspecting that there is some issue during step 4 described in the Oracle documentation:
"Server B receives the request for Application B, detects that the header contains a transaction coordination context and determines whether it has already registered as a participant in this transaction. If it has, that transaction is resumed and if not, a new transaction is started.
*Application B executes within the context of the imported transaction. All transactional resources with which the application interacts are enlisted with this imported transaction*."
This is all I can find. Please help me on how to resolve the exception.
    Thanks. Hi r035198x,
Thanks for your help. The problem indeed is in the non-XA datasource I used for the EntityManager. I created datasource what uses XA Thin Oracle driver and everything works fine now, commit and rollback both work nicely.
    Again thanks a lot.

  • Q: General : When will you use Web Service as opposed to just Servlet and/or EJB?

    Hi,
I don't know if this is an appropriate question to ask for this class as it's not
    workshop
specific. I was wondering how will I decide when it is appropriate to use a web
service as opposed to say servlet or an EJB for my application? What is a good
    rationale to use?
    Thanks,
    Sadhana

    Hi Adam,
Thanks a lot for giving such a lucid explanation of my vague question!
I understand now the difference between when to use EJBs/Servlets/Web Services.
    Thanks again!

    Hi Sadhana,
Web service versus Servlet versus EJB. Which one to use? That is a very
    good question.
EJBs should be the core desription and processing of your business rules.
    They generally
have good performance, are easy to integrate into your security set up but
    they require
access using the RMI-IIOP protocol. This means that generally EJBs are not
    accessible
outside of your firewall and their clients have to be written in Java (other
    enterprise
objects or applets or GUI applications).
Servlets often form a web-based front end to EJBs. They also have good performance,
integrate into security and only require HTTP access. This means they are
    accessible
outside your firewall and any client with a HTTP or web API can call on
    them, however,
there is no standard contract or rules for this type of interaction so you
    will need
provide direct input into development of the client.
Web services are also accessible via HTTP and so can be accessed from outside
    your
firewall. In fact, Web services internally within Workshop and WebLogic
    actually
operate by using servlets and EJBs but the main advantage is that the mechanism/contract
for interacting with the web service is a well defined standard (WSDL) and
    can actually
be registered or retreived dynamically (UDDI). Since web service standards
    are open,
most popular programming languages already provide client APIs to interact
    with them
thus freeing the web service developer from direct interaction with the
    client developer
and letting the client be developed on any platform. The penalty for this
    openness
is a small performance hit (XML translation) and a slowly maturing security
    model.
So in summary, use EJBs for business operations that have Java clients within
    your
enterprise, use servlets to provide web style access to your business operations
(like web pages) and use web services to enable automated clients that can
    be written
on any platform either inside or outside your enterprise (firewall). In
    fact, it
is common to write the EJB first and then to expose some parts of it outside
    of your
enterprise by writing a web service wrapper (maybe using the EJB controls
    that we
    saw in class).
    I hope this helps.
