Update Podcasts at a certain time of day

My ISP limits bandwidth during certain times of the day, and if I exceed a quota during the restricted hours, my connection speed is lowered. Is there a way to set iTunes to check for podcast updates / purchases at a user specified time of day?

I'm looking for the solution to this issue too. Once or twice, a full system restart has seemed to solve the problem temporarily but it slips back to an afternoon refresh after a few days.
Seems like it would be simple for Apple to allow us to specify a time of day for refreshes in the preferences section.

You can use lauchd to run the script.
Here's an example of an Automator App that I have scheduled to run at 7am daily:
You would save this as com.yourname.plist and put it the the Folder: ~/Library/LaunchAgents/ (then log out and back in, or reboot)
(To run a workflow, change open to automator)
(A nice GUI launchd editor is Lingon)

  • When I schedule my computer to sleep at a certain time every day, it goes to sleep at a completely different time.

I've been struggling with this problem for a bit.
I want the computer to sleep every night at 11pm, and wake every day at 9am.
I've set the times in the power saving preferences panel. No problem. However, at 19:42 every day, I'm told that the computer is scheduled to shut down, and do I REALLY want to do that? Of course I don't, so I cancel.
It wakes up pretty reliably at 9am, I'm pretty sure, but of course I have to put it to sleep myself.
I tried unchecking both items and quitting preferences, then coming back in, and the times are set back to 12:00AM. Then I set them to the times I want.
I THINK it might work for a little while after that, but then go back to this odd behaviour of trying to go to sleep at what seems to be an arbitrary time, though it's the SAME arbitrary time every day. :/
    Anyone seen this?

  • MSN's latest update is crashing Firefox many times per day. When I try to send the crash report to Firefox, it says it has trouble sending the report. Is anyone else having this problem? Is there a setting that can help?

Firefox is crashing every time I have my MSN email account up. (Since I use it for business, that's many times per day.) It seems to coincide with hotmail's latest update where the email is checked and downloaded to the inbox automatically. Then when it asks me if I want to send the crash report to Firefox, I select yes and it tells me it had trouble sending the report. Is anyone else having this problem? Is there a setting I can change? I can't seem to keep my email account up for more than 10 minutes.
p.s if you're reading this Microsoft, it's still not bad enough to make me to go back to Internet Explorer!

  • How can I set iTunes to check for new podcasts at a specific time of day?

    Hi guys,
Anybody know a work around for this? I thought it was just a matter of clicking the refresh button at the time I want iTunes to look for new podcasts, but it doesn't seem to be the case...
I want iTunes to look for new podcasts at 2 am every day. So, at 2 am, I clicked the refresh button in the Podcasts section in iTunes. It would then say, in the settings, that iTunes last checked for podcasts at 2 am and will look again at 2 am the next day. Awesome, not. Every single time I try this, iTunes always resets itself and decides to look for podcasts at 2:49 pm. I can't work it out.
So, if anyone has a solution, I would love to hear it! I'm on the latest version. 9.0.2. Thanks for reading.
    Regards,
    Daniel

  • Run a section of code a certain time of day

I have a problem which I am stuggeling to get right.
At a certain time of the day, the process must run a verification sequence which must be completed.
I was thinking about using two time values, the one being the actual time and the other being the target time. Once the actual time is equal or more than the target time, some code must run. This code must run (verification sequence) before any other code can run.
Please any advice would greatly be appreciated

The suggestion above are correct in answer the question "how to compare times?" but there is an ancillary question that goes with this challenge that being "What time value do I compare with the current time?"
Sounds simple at first glance and in most situations is a no-brainer UNLESS your app is a 24X7 365 day never go down app. In that case you have to deal with Daylight savings time (Lets ignore leap years seconds etc for now). With DST, we have to deal with the fact that there is one day with 23 hours and another day with 25 hours. One of those days does not have a "2 O-clock" times and the other has two, one with DST true and another with DST false. The other complication that coes with that fact is that (in the US at least) the dates on which those 23 and 25 hour days occur are defined by the whims of governement ("Those who seek to change times and way.." Is that reveleations?) so you can't code for changes ahead of time.
If you get past that challenge, the other thing to take note of is that Windows displays the creation date of files in the current time (DST T/F) so a file created at 1:00 last night may have a creation time of 2:00.
I hope you don't have to deal with DST and if you do, at least you have been warned.

  • Updating pages at a certain time

I've been told that it is possible to schedule pages on a
website to be updated automatically at a given time (from a person
    not using Dreamweaver).
Is it possible to do this using DW as I don't fancy coming
into work to do the changeover at midnight on a Saturday?
    Thanks

This can't be directly done with dreamweaver.
It can be done with serverside scripting.
It can also be done with a third-party FTP client that
    supports timed
uploads. (the content would have to on that computer and the
    computer and
it's internet connection would have to active of course)
It could also be done with something like a chron job on an
    Apache server,
that renamed existing files at the decided time.

  • Blackberry Messenger only works at certain times of day.

a few days ago my phone crashed, leaving my blackberry messanger not working, a few hours later it started up and everything was fine, however the next day my bbm only worked early in the morning and then started up again around 4, and its did it again this morning, i have restarted it many times, i have deleted it then reinstalled it, its just very annoying it doesnt work, and im not really sure what to do with  it
any help would be much appreciated

Ella, that's got to be some intermittent connect with your mobile provider.
The next time your BBMessenger is NOT working, check On your Manage Connections screen, click on the Services Status. What is the status of the BlackBerry Internet Service at that time?
ALSO:  You have your mobile phone number listed as your "My Mobile Provider" or carrier. Putting your phone number out on the internet on these public forums for the world to see, is not wise. To change that, at the top of this page click on My Settings > Personal Profile > Personal Information, and in the entry block for "Carrier" type the name of your mobile provider.

I cant help but notice the security updates on a daily basis because it stops whatever Im doing to download the update, like I said it happens on some days several times. I click to download & the screen never goes away. It downloads & states in order to install them it must re-start. I do then on most occasions after it comes back up it states its connecting again to the server for additional updates. by then I upset when it wants to download again.

    Please do the following.<br><br>
#Go to [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/fx/?ref=logo Download Firefox 4.0.1] and download the installation file to your desktop.<br><br>
#Then go to Add/Remove Programs, scroll down to "Mozilla Firefox" and remove it, choosing to keep your bookmarks, customizations etc., (''don't checkmark the box'').<br><br>
#Then reboot and delete the folder called "Mozilla Firefox" at this location: C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox<br><br>

  • Can you search/filter mail messages to show only messages sent at a certain time of day [e.g. AM or PM]?

Is it possible to search for message sent only during certain hours of the day?
At a minimum, the ability to see either AM or PM messages, and even better if you could limit search results to a range of hours of the day [e.g. messages sent between 8 PM and 11 PM].
I have not been able to find this documented online anywhere.  Thank you!

  • Slowed dsl at certain times of day and weekends

For the past two months I've noticed that my speeds drop to 1Mb (normally I get 6.5 or better) from around 4:30pm to about midnight weekdays and all day on the weekends. Verizon tech support has been out twice and coming back again on monday but they cannot send someone at the time the problem is occuring so they never see an issue. I just read that this problem could be the result of overload on the Edge router. I'd like to request to be moved to a new edge router. I work from home and refuse to continue to pay for DSL speeds I'm not getting. Despite the added expense, I may be forced to switch to comcast.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Try the Verizon Direct forum over at DSLReports. Let them know of the situation and they should be able to move you onto another edge router or some less congested equipment.

  • Disable WiFi & Bluetooth during certain times of day

I recently upgraded from a Droid RAZR 2012 to a  Samsung S5. One feature I had with the RAZR that I haven't figured out how to duplicate with my S5 was something called "Smart Actions". With this feature, I was able to set times of the day where my WiFi and Bluetooth would turn off since I don't need them during most days. Is there some way to do the same with my S5?

Search for TecTiles 2. You can program the tiles, and put one on the dash of your car, like a sticker, to toggle those radios off when you tap them via the nfc in your phone. The app is in Galaxy Essentials, or the Play Store, but you'll have to order the NFC tiles from amazon or something.

In scheduler you can setup a jobb starting ff at a spec time and repeating it (in steps) from 5min - 1 hour but not 48 min. (30 or 60min)
With a batch (command) file you can use "sleep" (48*60*60 sec) You can write a script that checks the time and comp it to your schedule. To start FF on a specific page (or open a new page from a commandline you use "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox"\firefox -new-window http://www.dn.se
or whatever site you want to open.

You need the use task manager for that.

If I’m not mistaken, you need to enable in the application setting and then you can use it from the tools menu in the Workbench.
