Update select in parent window

Question

Hi there
I have a window thats been opened through window.open(...). What I now want to do is to, form the new window update a select object in the first/parent window. I've tried do do this through this javascript:
var option = new Option("test","test");
opener.document.form1.selectbox.options[1] = option;But when it runs I get a error message: Server has thrown an exception
Does anyone know why this happens or have any other suggestion on my problem?
