Update Vault Error:  Errors creating a directory in vault "date".

I updated my Aperture vault in December.
When I tried to update it again this morning I get the message *Update Vault Error: Errors creating a directory in vault "date".* In one instance it says 15 errors occurred. In another it says 219 errors occurred.
Other than delete the current vault and re-create it, are there any suggestions as to a fix for this problem?
Jerry

I have noticed the following:
+ While I cannot update an existing vault, I can create a new vault on the same folder/disk. For my purposes, I will probably use this vault and delete my old vault that I can no longer update.
+ The last time that I successfully updated one of my existing vaults was 4 days ago. Since then, I accidentally blew-away my preferences and subsequently restored them from backup... but the restored preferences predated the current Aperture library.
Perhaps there is something in the Preferences ( <user>/Library/Preferences/com.apple.* ) that retains some state about the state of recent vaults. I haven't looked. Perhaps the status of my Aperture Library was out of sync with my restored preference files.
Anybody with this problem have a similar situation?

    any idea?

    Hi Silvia,
Check whether the user you are using for FTPing is having proper authorizations.
Also, verify whether you have the archive directory in place.

  • Error creating home directory - Access is denied.

    Hi,
I am getting one issue on the task while provisioning homedrive and homedirectory on AD resource.
Error creating home directory '\\rusehf06\home\rc9782rf': ': Access is denied
    Please help. Thanks in advance.

These error messages are typically pretty obvious with permission errors. It's getting the correct permissions that is the challenge. I would suggest you start by adding the user whom is in your IT Resource for Active Directory into the local administrators group for the server you are trying to create the folder on. Also, consult with your AD Admins to get it resolved the quickest most likely. Their skill set will be better than what we can provide.

  • Error creating IP directory, probably because of invalid windows folder

    Hi all,
after doing just one of the first steps of the first tutorial for my zynq eval board - I invoked a zynq processing system ip core - I already got an error message:
[IP_Flow 19-1671] Failed to create IP instance 'aximm_temp'. Error creating IP directory 'c:/Users/franl/AppData/Roaming/Xilinx/Vivado/.Xil/Vivado-5680-franl-??/coregen/aximm_temp'.
Beware the two question marks in the path name. Unfortunately I haven't found anything similar on the internet or in a forum. Neither did I find a way to get rid of the question marks. Has anybody a solution for that?
    Best regards, Frank

    Hi everybody,
finally I've solved the problem: Xilinx seems to create a temp file folder that contains the name of the computer. The name of my computer contains latin and cyrillic characters: frank-пк. Vivado replaced the cyrillic characters with questionmarks: frank-?? and tries to create a folder with that name, which of course is impossible on windows machines. After changing the name of my computer to "frank" everything was ok.
    Thanks anyways for the help!
    Best regards,

  • Error creating a directory while downloading

I installed this the first time fine, but it wouldn't recognize my itouch, so i uninstalled all of apples programs from my computer and reinstalled, then got the error:
"An error occurred while attempting to create the directory: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\in\AppleMobileDeviceHelper.app"
When I continue past this by canceling, i get similar errors with different variations under the program file directory writing, and when i try to install a previous version, I get this as well.
    Any help/ideas would be great.

Same exact problem for me. Reported it 9/24/09. Have not tried deleting the fonts. May try it if I'm not using them for something else. This is rediculious. There's a million reports of this problem out there with all sorts of Operating Systems and no one will fix it.

  • Csbackup error creating backup directory

    Hi All,
We are running Messaging Server: Sun Java(tm) System Messaging Server 6.3-4.01 libimta.so 6.3-4.01 on SunOS 5.10
When we using ./csbackup -f database backup, it gives the following error.
    Error creating directory backup
    Backup failed
We tried manually creating backup directory in calendar_base/csdb/ . Verbose mode does not give any more info. Tried without -f option also. Also tried csbackup after stop-cal and start-cal. Still same error
What should we check to find out the problem . Thanks in advance
    Cheers Suru

    Error creating directory backup
Backup failedGiven that you are running the command in the <calendar_base>/sbin directory, the above command is actually trying to create the directory <calendar_base>/sbin/backup. As the csbackup command runs as the icsuser this doesn't have sufficient permissions to create the directory and fails.
Try explicitly specifying the directory path e.g.
    ./csbackup -f database /tmp/backup/

  • Error creating backup directory

Anyone getting this error and figured out how to fix it?
I tried reformatting the hard drive, but Time Machine keeps on generating this error.

    gaigeb wrote:
I'm seeing the error as well on my MacPro. The situation is a bit different here, because I was able to "solve" the problem.
It turns out that I have a number of drives and one of them that was mounted when I first did my TM backup is always unmounted when TM fails with this error, so I did an experiment-- I mounted the drive, did the TM backup, unmounted it, tried it again, and then repeated.
Whenever the drive was mounted, the backup worked. Whenever it wasn't, it failed.
I haven't tried tossing my TM settings, but I'm thinking there might be some reference to the drive that needs to be "resolved".
It is on my list of excluded devices, so maybe there's an alias or something there.
Hope this adds some more info to the discussion!

I can confirm this is the solution. I had a USB drive connected to my computer when I set up Time Machine's drive on another Firewire drive. When the USB drive is not connected I get a "failure to set up directory structure on the drive" message, even though that drive is not involved in the backup (I even set the preference to ignore it for backup through Time Machine). When the USB drive is connected, Time Machine is happy and I get no failure message.
This should be fixed, but the workaround is to plug back the drive(s) that were present during the initial setup (or better yet, unplug any other drive during the initial setup of Time Machine).

When I use this command [create directory 'test_dir' for

Instead of 'for' use 'as' and this will work.
    That is, use the command:
    [ create directory 'test_dir' AS

  • Aperture 2 won't show or update vaults

I have a client getting 34,000 errors when attempting to update his vaults in Aperture. Vaults aren't showing up so I tried doing the command option rebuild at launch. He cant seem to get past this error. His hard disk is almost full and I am getting him a larger drive. I am thinking he attempted to create a backup vault, and Aperture may have run out of space. The errors all say "error creating a directory in vault Aperture Backup". Anyone deal with this before? Thanks

Disable your firewall and antivirus software and try recovery mode in order to restore the iPad.
You can read about it here.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4097
    Recovery Mode Instructions
Disconnect the USB cable from the iPad, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
Turn off iPad: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for iPad to turn off.
If you cannot turn off iPad using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the iPad turns off, release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to iPad. When you reconnect the USB cable, iPad should power on.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears you can release the Home button.
If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the recovery mode alert that iTunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode.
    Use iTunes to restore iPad.

  • NoAccess error / creating directory on NAS

    Good day
I have FMS with content saved on a NAS device.  New recordings are saved as {NAS}\{UserID}\{FileName}.flv.  If the UserID directory exists at time of recording, all is fine.  If not, a NetStream.Record.NoAccess error is returned.  Previously, the setup was saving files to a drive local to the server, and this problem wasn't occurring.
I'm positive that the FileName is unique, and the account that FMS is running under can create new files/directories as I haved logged in under that account and created directories.
Any ideas on how to fix this?
    Thanks a lot!

Alas M, all your helpful suggestions didn't work.
As a rule I have preview generation turned off.
Creating a new vault on a different drive created the same messages.
All drives are mac formatted. All new projects added since the last vault update are contained in the package contents of the updated vault, but I am worried about the integrity of this new vault.
thanks again for your time and suggestions

  • Error when I "Update Vault Path..."

I have had some lingering problems with my Aperture library that I am just getting around to addressing. One is that I need to back up to my vault, but it is not letting me do so. When I hit the little (red) refresh button on the bottom of my window, I get the message:
    "Update Connected Vaults?
Some vaults are not connected. Do you wish to replace the contents of all connected vaults with the current contents of your library?
    This cannot be undone."
Because I'm an adventerous guy, I did this, but when I try to refresh my vault the next time I get the same error.
So I started poking around and found the "Update Vault Path" menu item. This sounds like it should solve my problem, but when I go through and select my vault and try to update the path I get the error message:
    "Incorrect Vault Selected
The path could not be updated because the selected vault does not match the original vault."
This is definitely the right vault. It is on a partition of my Time Capsule. However I may have moved the file or changed the name of something a few months ago, which I suspect is why I'm having this problem now?
What do I do to get that vault path back in order?

Is this Aperture 3? Are you talking about one library or multiple libraries? How many vaults do you have connected to the library?
If you click the *show/hide Vaults* button what does Aperture show you? This is the name of your vault(s) and their locations. Does that match what you think it should be?
Sounds like you may be better off just creating a new vault and using that going forward.

  • Having problems installing firefox error msg says error creating directory c:\programme files (x86)\mozilla firefox\searchplugins

Hi, I have been having problems with Internet Explorer 8 using Windows 7 so wanted to install Firefox but unable to as get a message saying error creating directory c:\programme files (x86)\mozilla firefox\searchplugins

Thank you guig2! Followed your bleepingcomputer.com link above and found the problem was my permissions on C:\Users\Bill\AppData\Local/Temp. It was not "Full Control" for my User or Administrator. Updated the two lines to permit full control for folder, subfolder and files. Ran perfect.

  • Update Vault Error

I can no longer update my Apertue 2.1.4 vault. Since installing Snow Leopard, I first noticed my iPhone would no longer sync pictures via Aperture 2, but would via iPhoto. Now I find I also cannot update vault to an external drive. Have redone permissions, rebuilt Aperture library, tried to create new vaults on the original external drive and the internal drive. Always get same "Update Vault Error" response and images don't appear to go into the vault. I see similar posts with no solution. My Aperture Library has 14000 photos.
I wonder if these problems will carry over to an Aperture 3 library.
    Hoping for some advice

No, I thought of that, I tried to make it simple:-
    Lacie/backup/Vault
    Or on the internal:-
    Users/me/pictures/vault
It may be that one of the images or possibly a sidecar file in my project is corrupt, thus making the library itself corrupt.
Therefore, when Aperture tries to compare its internal library structure to the Vault, it finds an error and blames the Vault for being corrupt; even so it still finds errors trying to backup to a blank brand new vault. I have a problem with the fact that it is suggestng that the vault be deleted(!) and replaced, even though the problem is likely to be with the internal Library itself and not the vault. And replacing the vault with a new one is impossible (still has same error).
Unfortunately I have no way of finding out which one of the 2500 or so images in the library has the problem. I thought that the commandoptionrestart Aperture to rebuild the library would have worked, but unfortunately it doesn't.

  • An error occurred while attempting to create the directory: C:\ProgramData\microsoft\windows\start Menu

Itunes update 10.5.2.11 for windows 7 (64 bit) keeps crashing at this point...
"an error occurred while attempting to create the directory: C:\ProgramData\microsoft\windows\start Menu"
I have read all of the forums to no avail. Seems like a common problem.
Has anyone had the same issue and actually solved it?

I'm getting this problem too. I have been running iTunes for a few years with no problems until recently. WHenever I try and open it I get an error message saying "An error occured while attmpting to create the directory: I:\iTunes\iTunes.Resources\de.lproj\EQWindow.nib" with the options to retry or cancel. Retry just results in the same error message occuring again.
I've tried other programs on the I: drive and they work fine, I've also followed the 'Removing iTunes Configuration Files' and some of the other apple support guides with no success. My windows updates are fine.
    Any suggestions?

  • Update Vault error message

Aperture is not letting me update my vaults. I am receiving update vault error messages when trying to back up to Vaults. I have three backup Vaults on external firewire drives, formatted Mac HFS+ (not MS-DOS) and not partitioned. My Aperture library is also on a dedicated external drive. I get the same message for all three vaults, so this seems to be an Aperture problem, not a disk problem. The error messages refer to NEF (raw) image files that do not exist in my Library (or anywhere else, for that matter). Message reads:
    update vault error:
    The following error occured:
    Couldn't create/Volumes/LaCie/ApertureV2.apvault/Library/....
    Any insights would be appreciated.

James Bouret's problem is fixed -- or maybe not.
From my blog: +We traced the problem to "something bad" about the folder or its contents that was being reported. By opening the library and the vault with control-click Show Package Contents and navigating down, it was possible to trash the folder. Not only did the vault update complete once that was done, but it worked many, many times faster than before. The bad news is that I think this is due to a bad spot on the disk, indicating a drive that is on its way out. If you have vault problems: back up carefully and consider that you may have a bad disk.+
A bad spot on the disk may also be the reason that Johnny Cappuccino could fix his problem by modifying the image. That will have rewritten the sidecar files, a process that usually involves creating a new temporary file and then atomically deleting the old file and renaming the new one. So the new file is shiny and good and the bad spot is ready for use by another hapless program.
