Updated Ipod Touch 4G to IOS5, now music files do not play, artwork shifts around without playing music, or it just doesn't play at all

I updated my Ipod Touch 4G to the new IOS5, Now I can´t listen to my music properly.
I generally use the "shuffle" mode on my Ipod Touch to ply music, generally the first three to maybe ten songs that start playing work fine, after that, the following things happen:
1. Either music stops at all and I can´t play any other songs unless I touch the suffle play mode again. Eventually, I can listen to the first 3 to 10 songs but afterwards music stops once again. it´s a cycle of endless despair.
2. Or the music starts correctly, but the artwork and file info header (song name, album, artists, etc - at the top of the screen)  belongs to the next song about to be played, and when I foward to the next song, it actually skips the song that was supposed to be played (the one that was out of sync with the one that I was listening to). It´s as if the Ipod tried to match the artwork displayed with the song but It completely fails in doing so. Eventually music stops completely and I have to press the suffle play mode again to listen to maybe three to ten "out-of-sync-artwork/header" songs again (Wish I could post a video, it´d be easier to explain, not a native English speaker). Hope you all were able to understand my problem.
Thanks a lot.

Exactly the same problem here.  In another thread some claim this problem is fixed by doing a restore with iTunes.  I haven't tried that yet.

  • I was updating ipod touch to new iOS5 and it told me that all data would be lost with update and to put it oon computer, but update not there.  How do i update with out this happening?

I am looking for some help with updating to iOS5, i downloaded to computer to avoid losing data on ipod touch but update was not there.  I've done three times and same result.  If I have all music on usb drive will I be able to reupload it after update, or is there another way to do it by transferring my music from ipod touch to computer and the re-installing in itunes.  Alot of the music I have is copied off of discs and not from itune purchases.  Any help will be greatly appreciated and my computer skills are satisfactory but I am by no means a computer guru. Thanks

As all of the msuic came from your computer in the first place it should still be there.  Is it not?
EVERYTHING on your ipod should also be on your computer and should be included in your regular backup copy of your computer.
Make sure that everything is on your computer.  You can transfer itunes purchases from the ipod.  Without syncing:  File>Transfer Purchases.
When everything is on your computer, then it can be synced back to the ipod after updating.

  • The ipod "ipod touch" cannot be synched the required file is not found

When i try to sync my ipod touch it goes through the motions but when it tries to sync photo's i get the message about saying that the ipod can't be synched as the required file is not found.  Earlier today a driver was automatically put on my windows 7 based laptop and it seemed to be from apple and was downloaded just as i plugged in my ipod touch ...... can anyone help please ?
I have an iphone and ipad2 and have synched them  both today without any problems .

Deleting the iPod Photo Cache folder usually resolves the problem ofr its location see:
iTunes: Photo sync creates iPod Photo Cache folder
You may have more than one folder and you need to delete all of them.

  • Upgraded iPod touch to 6.01 now music says "no content" on screen. Sync takes forever but won't work

Just upgraded to 6.01. Tried to sync music and it took forever and didn't reflect  the changes made in my folders, it also included lots of tracks that were blank. SO I tried syncing again, it took forever and then the iPod said "no content" when I clicked the music. Syncing takes forever (step 4 of 4) and does nothing now.
Restarted, relaunched and tried syncing many times. Not working.

    - Maybe
Fix for “No Content” on iPhone & iPod after iOS 4.2.1 update
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync (if you can)
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • HT201274 So I have tried to update my iPod touch about 5 times now and it still says there is an error. I,ve erased all my settings and attempted to restore it, but it wont let me. I'm ready to throw it away and find a new product.

Errors when updating leads to corrupt system files and this may be your problem. If you're using windows, connect your device to PC and run any third party app like Syncios. If it detects, you maybe in luck and try to back-up your data if possible. I hope that it won't and if doesn't, there is no other way to recover files. You should be restoring with iTunes and all data will be erased, or else your device may become unusable.

updated ipod touch 4th gen with software version 5.1.1 and now won't install purchased apps family guy time warp and uncensored. Help please as now i can't use my purchased games.

What happens if you just restore to factory defaults/new iPod (not from backup)?
If you still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem an an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

She has had it for about 6 months and this is the first time we have plugged it into the computer since then.  I can not exit out of itunes either.

If you still have the problem after retoring the iPOd to factory defaults/new iPod then The iPod is likely defective and replacement is required.  You can make an appoinment at the Genius Bar of an APple store or take it back to BestBuy if within warranty

  • While updating ipod touch 4 i got an error message now stuck with apple symbol and empty bar. can i restart ipod?

while updating ipod touch 4 i got an error message now stuck with apple symbol and empty bar. can i restart ipod?

    - What was the error message?
    - Try closing iTunes and then disconnect the iPod from the computer. Then reconnect the iPod.  If the iPod shows in iTunes then you can try again.  However, You should try to resolve the error message first.
    - If iTunes does not see the iPod try reetting the iPod:
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - I recommend that you come back with the what the error message said and the condition of the iPod and if it is visible in iTunes.

You appear to have a second generation iPod touch, not a third, and those can't be updated past 4.2.1. Apple sold 8GB second generation models at the same time as the third generation ones.
