Updated itunes now freezing

I just updated to the newest version of itunes on my Windows 7 laptop. Now when I am searching my library for music to add to my playlists itunes is freezing.
It will freeze and stays frozen. I have to use task manager to close itunes then open it again.
Any ideas on if there is an issue with itunes with my Windows 7?

I have the same problem on my Mac

Did you actually download the installer from Apple or did you use Software Update.  You can download the installer http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Maybe I'm old fashioned but I would consider repairing permissions first using Disk Utility because something caused this to go wrong the first time.  And of course make a backup of your whole library first.  It shouldn't happen but some have complained about their libraries being wiped out by iTunes updates.  Better safe...

  • I updated iTunes, now it dosen't work

I updated iTunes now i get this error "iTunes cannot run because some of its required files are missing. Please reinstall iTunes."
Is it going to count this computer again as another copy of all my songs. This computer is at least two of the 'copies' of many of my songs. Some songs thing they're on even more computers that that.
How can I de-authorize the computer if the program won't run anymore?

    Hello Aaron1658,
It sounds like you are unable to activate your phone with the SIM provided to you by your carrier. Try these steps in the following article to help you troubleshoot what it happening, named:
    iPhone: Troubleshooting activation issues
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3424
    Symptoms
Your iPhone may display one of the following messages when you attempt to activate it:
"Your iPhone could not be activated because the activation server is temporarily unavailable."
"The SIM card inserted in this iPhone does not appear to be supported"
"The iPhone is not recognized and cannot be activated for service."
"iTunes was unable to verify your device."
    Restart the iPhone.
Try another means of reaching the activation server and attempt to activate.
Try connecting to a known-good Wi-Fi network if you're unable to activate using a cellular data connection.
Try connecting to iTunes if you're unable to activate using Wi-Fi.
    Restore the iPhone.
If you receive an alert message when you attempt to activate your iPhone, try to place the iPhone in recovery mode and perform a restore. If you're still unable to complete the setup assistant due to an activation error, contact Apple for assistance.
If this is not what you are referring to, would you provide some more information about what is happening? Any error messages, prompts, etc.?
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the very best,

Do you have a mac or PC? If a PC try going into the control panel, add/remove programs, find something named Apple device driver, apple mobile device support, something like that (the exact name has changed from version to version)
Uninstall that then restart your comptuer
Open iTunes and then plug in your device and see if the drivers install

  • Updating iTunes library freezes

    Hello,
This is my first post. I have had no problems with my Mac until this 7.3 update.
Now every time I open iTunes it attempts to "Update the library" but freezes when the completion bar gets 2/3rds of the way ( it was a 1/4 at first, then 1/2 way ) and the mouse icon begins to spin - doing that beach ball thingy.
I transfered every track and video to an external drive. This did not help.
I updated to the 7.3.1 version. Still the same.
Is this what is happening to other people? I get no error messeges and force quit after a few minutes.
Should I just hold out for another update?
    Thanks for reading.

_LIBRARY ON EXTERNAL DRIVE?_ if YES do the following:
    -> Download 'DiskWarrior'
-> Rebuild Harddisk (to see & fix errors) and Copy iTunes library & other Data to DVDs using 'Toast Titanium'
-> Re-Format external disk and Move library back onto it. Change Library location back to external
!! It's a long process but the only solution I found in this case. But this applies because my library is located on a disk other then the built in HD and was damaged (missing files, folders, item count)!!
NOTE: Apple's Disk Utility did detect damage to disk but couldn't fix it or recover data.

  • Updated itunes now my ipod touch 2g will not sync 13019

I just updated itunes to the latest version for Lion (10.5.3) now my ipod touch 2g (4.2.1) will not manually manage my music and I get a 13019 error.  My Ipod touch 2g is up to date and I am running lion 10.6.8.   I tried the trouble shooting guide on the apple site for 13019 error to no avail.  I manually manage my music so I cannot go under sync and deselect memos. I have always manually managed my music, but I also deselected all other sync operations within the ipod.   Also when I try to delete duplicate files I also get the 13019 error.
Funny thing is when I add songs they show up on my device in the itunes window but not in the ipod itself, even though I get the error.  I have also been reading all the latest threads and they seem to point to duplicate files and
I guess the last resort is to restore the ipod.  Why would the update cause my ipod to no longer sync? Any ideas?
    Thanks,

    Macbook pro 2.5ghz penryn
    Lion 10.6.8
    itunes 10.5.3
    Ipod touch 2g 32gb 4.2.1

I had to do a complete restore and start with a fresh Ipod.  I can add music and no longer get the error.  Now I will have to go through all my music and bring it over manually again.  I did not dare to restore all the music with the back up as I am sure that was causing the conflict be it duplicate files or corrupt ones.  I will be more careful with duplicates as they are all erased from my itunes library.
    All is good now.

  • Downloaded new iTunes/iPod updater, iTunes now crashes during iPod updating

I downloaded the new iTunes and iPod updater yesterday-- now when I plug my iPod into the USB, it recognizes my iPod, the "Updating iPod. Do not disconnect." message comes up, but as soon as "Updating Track 1 of 9." appears, I get a Send Error Report message "iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. etc" (I wasn't sure what, if anything, I shoudl include here from the Error Report Contents.) Has anyone else encountered this or have any tips? I've tried the uninstall/reinstall trick to no avail.
    Thanks!

I fixed this for my Nano by using the iPod Updater Restore to revert the firmware to version 1.0 and removing iTunes 6.0.2 through Control Panel. I didn't delete the leftover directories. I then reinstalled iTunes version 6.0.1.3.
The Nano is now happily recopying all my music. Should be done by midnight.
    Good luck.

  • Updated itunes now it won't open on my computer

I tried to update itunes so I could sync some music I bought on my computer to my phone, because my phone wasn't letting me download it directly. Now iTunes won't open. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling it twice, but each time it will not open. Also, when I'm installing it, it tells me I have iTunes currently running, which I don't.

I had this and managed to fix it:
    Download iTunes from https://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
    Open the Terminal
    Run "sudo rm -r /Applications/iTunes.app"
    Re-install iTunes

  • Updated iTunes, now my iPod cannot be identified properly.

I updated iTunes a couple days ago and when I try to sync my iPod, it gives me the error of iPod has been detected but cannot be properly identified.  I have tried for 2 days now to fix this by following the instructions everyone keeps promoting but having no luck.  How can I undo the stupid update so my iPod can sync and I can add my new music?? Seriously unhappy with Apple right now for rolling out an update that causes so many problems. I have uninstalled iTunes about 3 times now and reinstalled. Still no luck!

Hi there  - I've spoken with Apple and here is their response (worked for me). You need to uninstall not only iTunes, but also (in this order):
    1) iTunes
    2) Apple Software Update
    3) Apple Mobile Device Support
    4) Bonjour
    5) Apple Application Support
    Then you restart your computer.
Then you install the latest version of iTunes (which will reinstall all those things you uninstalled).
Then you restart your computer again.
Mine is working perfectly again now.
I hope it works for you,
    Carmen.
