well first make sure that when you click on the name of your iphone on the left hand side of itunes that you go to the app and music tab and check mark the sync apps and sync music. then try clicking apply in the bottom right hand corner. then if not try doing it again after going to prefrences in the top menu and going to devices tab and click reset sync history if that doesnt work with music try and drop and drag to the name of your iphone, lastly if that doesnt work you can try restoring from a backup from before you updated. it will keep the new software but put everything that was on your phone when you created the backup back onto your phone.

ShelleyHow did you "try" to transfer this data? The only way to restore App data is by restoring from a backup that contains the App data, then syncing the Apps back to the phone. Emails are not included in any iPhone backup, only account settings.

My iTunes will not start in Win XP. I am getting an error that says MSVCR80.dll can't be found. I am concerned that if I just do a reinstall
of iTunes it will overwrite or delete all the music and apps I have on the current app that won't start. When I boot the PC I get the following:

In the sidebar (LH side) there used be all my separate accounts, now there is only inbox, sent, junk etc. I imagine that the accounts have been synchronized, how do undo this, to go back to seeing a list of my accounts?

Sorry I took time to answer, I"ve only just found out how to, did I mention being thick???
Anyway I found that by going just above the sidebar where it says Inbox just click it and choose one of your accounts then all the separate accounts will be shown in the sidebar under inbox. You can do the same thing for sent items under sent and again the different accounts will shown in the sidebar under Sent.
I hope that this helps you, I do find that the Apple-Mac way is easy when you know how, but it doesn't help being the wrong side of the Atlantic because we (Brits) often use different terminology to Americans, so the help menus are often confusing to us.

If you bought them from the Mac App Store then they should show in the Purchases tab in the Mac App Store app on your Mac. If they were pre-installed then you might be better off asking the iMac or Mavericks forums, this forum is for questions about the iTunes store.

I was able to see my contacts in icloud contact group in outlook, but now I get an error. "The set of folder cannot be opened.The information stoerr could not be opened." I can see my contacts on my iphone and in icloud. can I somehow get these back to outlook?

When asking if you are also syncing contacts direct with a supported address book app on your computer wasn't in regards to a solution. Contacts and email addresses can't be imported or made available out of no where.
The Windows Contacts address book app is not included with Windows 7 by Microsoft for some strange reason with all the other garbage included by PC box assemblers with the Windows install, but it can be downloaded from Microsoft's website.
If all contacts are available in your iCloud online address book, on your iPhone go to Settings > iCloud. Turn Contacts off for over the air syncing.
A warning message will be provided indicating this will remove all iCloud contacts from your iPhone along with a prompt to save the contacts locally on your iPhone. If your iCloud online address book is what you want and complete, decline the prompt to save the contacts locally on your iPhone.
After all iCloud contacts are removed, turn Contacts back on for over the air syncing with your iCloud account. -
I have updated my iPhone 3Gs to the latest software in an attempt to iron out a problem with a new telephone network provider (Tmobile). I had backed up my phone before I did this. Now I have lost my music and apps. I can't sync the phone with my Mac, I can't re-download from iTunes as the phone says I don't have any music or apps available to re-download although it all shows up on my Mac. The music and app content cannot be restored when I try to restore the phone from the back up I madeon my Mac. Help!
Working on that now. I'm just getting frustrated that everytime I run updates for the phone I end up with tech problems that I have to spend time solving as opposed to updates that actually improve my usage. Now I will once again get to spend hours reloading my phone all for updates that didn't affect my usage in the first place.

If your phone is in recovery mode, all data are gone. Connect the phone to iTunes on your computer and restore.

don't ask me why this worked, but it did for me last night. In iTunes, where your device shows up on the left side, I double clicked on it. It then allows you to change the name like you can for changing file/folder names. I changed 1 letter on the name of the ipod and hit enter. I then right clicked on the new ipod name and chose restore from backup. My choices for backup was the original name of the ipod only and not the name i had just changed it to. I told it to go ahead and backup from the old name figuring I would get the same results, but not the case. It restored it with all app, music and pictures with one exception...all of the settings, email setup and information within the apps was lost. Atleast that an easier fix than starting all over. Hope this will work for you guys too with the same issue.

An iPhone backup to a computer via iTunes stores the photos in a backup file that is only meant to be be used if needed to restore back to the phone. There is 3rd party "extractor" software available but otherwise the photos are not directly viewable.
The backup via iTunes was a good idea and your Camera Roll photos should be there and should be able to be restored to your new phone. However if it was me I wouldn't rely on that alone. I would also import the photos to a computer where you can see and verify that you have a copy. That is a good idea at any time (not just when you know you might need it). Any phone can be lost, broken, suffer hardware issues, etc at any time and lose all data on it. New to this site, sorry if I didn't enter my question correctly ... Updated iPhone 4 to iOS 7.0.3, some older Visual Voicemails disappeared. Just noticed today. Not backed up in iTunes. Can I get them back?
HALF-SOLUTION!!!! (Restoring only, basically.)
Restore the phone via iCloud.com
1. Go to iCloud.com , and log in.
2. If you want a back up, make sure you back it up to itunes now!
3. Now back to iCloud.com - select the device you want. Press "Erase iPhone" (or iPad, iPod whatever).
You will go through a few steps. Skip the phone number and leave a message, as it isn't lost. Your phone will be restored. No need for plugging in!
4. IMPORTANT: Just set it up as usual. Language, country blah. But then you'll get to a step where it says something like "This iPhone was erased with iCloud. Log in with the Apple ID you used to erase it". In this case, my Dad's. So please do that. Later on, the phone will ask for an Apple ID to be used for the phone. I put my own one as I didn't want my dads!!!! Lol....
5. Plug into iTunes and back-up.
As for updating, I'm still on 7.0.2,,, it ain't working on my phone or itunes!! :( -

(I think the daughter got he better end of the deal!) I believe if you change the password and user id one of the devices it will stop that from occurring. But I'm not the one to tell you how to do it; someone like "Illaass" (Illaass seems to know how to correct / fix almost anything!) will know how if you don't. Just look for the "cat" icon.
