Updated to mavericks now multiple problems.  mainly mail

I updated to osx 10.9.1 and am using safari 7.0.1   now having multiple problems.  It may take up to 8 hours to get our Gmails on mail.  if we are typing an email, we may take say 10 min typing the email.  We can then go to our mail trash and there might be 15 to 20 deleated versions of that email in difrernt stages of completations we were typing.  Also can delete trash and junk and they might go away or at times they will come back with 1,2, or may be 3 sets of the emails that we deleated.  looked at all the settings I could find to see if something is set wrong but not finding anything.  Verry frustrated.  Tried to open the download osx10.9.1 update bur would get an alert that " this software is not supported on your system".  I need help

Fixing a Mavericks Installation Problem
How to manage a failed OS X Mavericks installation | MacFixIt - CNET Reviews.
Try these in order:
1. a. Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
    b. Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
2. Restart the computer in Safe Mode, then restart again, normally. If this doesn't help, then:
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the
COMMAND and R keys until the Utilities menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and
after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears.
Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
3. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
4. Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks: Reboot from the Recovery HD. Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks from the Utilities menu, and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • Updated to mavericks, now windows 7 partition freezes on boot

i have a late 2012 macbook pro, just updated to mavericks, now w7 64bit boot freezes on grey load screen.  tried SMC/PR resets, just got off the phone with support and they don't have a clue on what to do to resolve the issue other than a reinstall (if my only option is reinstall I might abandon bootcamp and try another option).  any advice?

    Hello,
    If 10.7.0 or later...
Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partition & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk, then Repair Permissions.
If that doesn't help Reinstall the OS.

    Here is the setup:
    iMac Intel running 10.4.8
    Mail 2.1.1
seperate user accounts, each with their own email address
email is valornet.com (local ISP), set up to download to Mail
Multiple problems with one of the user accounts (not affecting the others):
    1. Multiple copies in the inbox of the same message. These are brand new, not a week old as some other threads have mentioned. When I go to Preferences/Accounts/Advanced I have already clicked the "Remove Now" button, also the "Remove copy from server..." is checked.
    2. Mail will not stop retrieving new mail. The circle thing next to the Inbox on the left just keeps spinning, and spinning, and spinning...
    3. Cannot quit Mail. Have to go in Activity Monitor and Force Quit.
    4. My trash folder is gone.
If anyone can help me clean up this mess, I would appreciate it.

  • Updated to Mavericks, now having Outlook 2011 issues.

Okay this is probably a simple fix, but I can't seem to figure it out.  I just updated to OS X Mavericks, now when my display on my MacBook Pro goes to sleep, and I have Outlook 2011 running (I have it set up on a schedule to send/receive emails) I get 2 different messages when the schedule runs and the display is asleep.
"Connection to the server failed or was dropped" and  "Inactivity timeout".
If I hit the send/receive after the display wakes up.. no problem, it gets the mail.  Display asleep and the schedule runs, I get the errors above.
I updated the Office 2011 service pack, and all updates to see if that helped, it didin't.
Everything was working fine with OS X Mountain Lion, as soon as I updated to Mavericks this all started. Anyone have a fix for this? Or is it something I have to live with.  I tried an experiment and the native Mail program works fine when the display is asleep.

  • Updated to Mavericks, now text is pixelated. How can I resolve this?

    Mid 2010 Mac mini
Processor  2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    Memory  4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
Graphics  NVIDIA GeForce 320M 256 MB
    Software  OS X 10.9 (13A603)
    Display Dynex 46" monitor
I updated to Mavericks today.  When my mini came back online, I had serious display issues that I've somewhat managed to resolve.  The most galring issue is that all text, be it text on a website, text in apps, text of the OS windows, all text everywhere is pixelated.  Glaringly so.  Like 8-bit-style pixelated.  Fuzzy, too.  Can anyone help me understand what has happened and how I can resolve it, please?
The other display issues I'm having have to do with colour settings and screen resolution.  I've been playing with my monitor settings and the OS settings and none of this has had any affect on the pixelation problem, as far as I can tell.  Selecting "Best for Display" from System Preferences>Displays is the only setting I can choose that doesn't stretch the display beyond the edges of the screen.
    Thank you!

  • I have updated to Yosemite and gave problem with Mail.

Before updating to the new Yosemite system, I had an icon on the menu bar that displayed a list of address' that could be selected without having to select the address menu efor each address.  Now, with the new system, the address icon is gone and I have to check each address individually... Is it possible to get the address icon back on the menu?  It was a real time saver when entering multiple addresses.

Apple took it away in Yosemite. The only way to do multiple addresses now is to open the Contacts app and select-click/drag from there.
A huge step backward in functionality -- addressing mail is now utterly broken. We should not have to open a separate app just to send a mail to multiple addresses. My advice: send feedback to Apple. If enough of us complain, MAYBE they'll give us back the functionality they took away in the name of "simplicity and elegance."

  • Updated to Mavericks - Now dropping WiFi connections like crazy

The title says it all. On an early 2013 MacBook Pro retina. Running perfect until the day I upgraded to Mavericks. Now my WiFi drops anywhere from once an hour to every 5 minutes, and also has trouble reconnecting after waking up from sleep. I've tried the various fixes mentioned on the forums and collected here, but nothing has worked yet.
To be clear, I have many devices/computers in the house, and only one of them has trouble wiht WiFi, the one I upgraded to Mavericks, and it started the day I upgraded it to Mavericks.
There seem to be a lot of other sufferers. Any good solutions?

Words cannot describe how angry this problem makes me. How can world's largest tech company not been able to fix their biggest bug for this many months now?!?!
All these forums are overflowing with the same **** problem: WIFI DOESN'T CONNECT AFTER COMING BACK FROM SLEEP ON MAVERICKS.
How many thousands of people have to post the same godddamn problem for how long?
And no, disconnecting Bluetooth doesn't help (even if it did, its not an acceptable solution). I took my MacBook Air to Apple store twice already and they cannot help either.
aaaAAAAaAaaAAaaarrrrghhh, I'm going to go insane from this problem.
I miss Steve.. he wouldn't let something like this go on for this long. Can a half a trillion dollar company pay attention to its own support forums or at least google "wifi-not-connecting-after-sleep-mavericks" and realize what incompetent company you have become?!

  • Recently updated to Yosemite - now BIG problems

I have a  2010 Macbook - 2Gb Ram.  I updated OS to Yosemite. Now everything runs painfully slow! I now hear lots of people are having problems  with Yosemite and its Ram hungry so not a good idea on a Mac with just 2 Gb Ram.  Can I go back to an older OS and if so which one should I chose? Simple answers please - Im not very techy.
    Thanks

All Mac OS X versions from Lion through Yosemite specify 2 GB ram, but the OS X takes up 1.5 GB of that leaving very little for applications to use.  One solution would be to increase your ram to 4 Gb or more by going to OWC, http://www.macsales.com or Crucial, http://www.crucial.com where you get quality, guaranteed ram.
Or, if you had Snow Leopard before the upgrade you can go back to that OS X.  If you have a TimeMachine backup, simply startup on the install disk and erase the hard drive and restore from the TimeMachine backup.
See: OS X Yosemite: Revert to a previous OS X version
If there is no TM backup, startup on the Snow Leopard disk, select Disk Utility and erase the hard drive then Install Mac OS X.

  • Multiple problems with Mail under 3.0

With OS 2.0, new mail messages would be retrieved in all (two) of the POP accounts I established simply by starting the Mail application.
Now, with 3.0, the only way mail is ever retrieved is by going into the In Box for each account. Bummer.
Also, when writing email messages the text does not wrap within the screen borders...it just scrolls off to the right forever. What the heck??
Finally, with 3.0, certain things (such as a USPS tracking number) in mail messages are sometimes highlighted (underlined in blue) as though they were links, but when you tap them Mail offers to create a contact.
At least as far as Mail in concerned, this upgrade was rushed out the door without proper testing and needs to be 3.01'ed soon!

    Hello,
I just noticed the mail problem this morning. For a brief moment, I was able to get access to my WiFi network and sent a test e-mail. It exhibited all the problems reported in this discussion.
Previously, I was unable to confirm that I had this problem, since my iPod Touch was unable to access my WiFi signal anywhere in my house. It still is unable to access the signal if I move any further than about 5 feet away from the router.

    Hi,
After a number of years of being really happy with my Macbook Pro, Snow Leopard, I updated to Maverics. Amongst other problems with numerous apps, I ve come across a problem with terminal environment. Specifically when I startup a terminal shell I get these errors:

I m not sure whether the Canopy additions are causing a problem.
