Updating drivers already imported into SCCM 2012

Hi
We imported drivers for all our models into sccm when we set it up.
Obviously there are now new versions of these drivers.
What's the best way to remove the old and add new drivers to sccm?
This is NOT a question about updating drivers on clients but in sccm it self.
Kindest regards, Martin

  • Dart 7 Image Network Support Broken When Imported into SCCM 2012

Hi guys, I've been trying to get Dart integrated into my Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 Task Sequences recently. Running SCCM 2012 SP1 CU3.
Until today I was able to PXE-boot DaRT7 and DaRT8 images, however the DaRT 7 images are now failing to boot - despite being recreated in
    exactly the same way.
I understand that when SCCM imports a boot image the winpeshl.ini is overwritten - originally the DaRT7 images have the following winpeshl.ini entries:
        [LaunchApps]
        %windir%\system32\netstart.exe,-prompt
        %SYSTEMDRIVE%\sources\recovery\recenv.exe
After import to SCCM this looks like:
        [LaunchApps]
        %SYSTEMDRIVE%\sms\bin\x64\TsBootShell.exe
I dont understand how the DaRT 7 images ever worked, as the first command from those that are stripped out (%windir%\system32\netstart.exe,-prompt) is what would initiate the TCP/IP stack.
Of course, no network = no TS shell, so thre client reboots. If I press F8, load a command shell and manually run %windir%\system32\netstart.exe and then run %windir%\system32\winpeshl.exe the TS shell loads.
Any ideas how I can fix this - essentially I just need the DaRT7 image to bring up the network automatically.
    Thanks,
    Chris

  • App-v OSD's not getting imported to SCCM 2012

    Hi
Currently i am migrating APP-V 4.6 PACKAGES to SCCM 2012, as part of this process few OSD's of applications are not getting imported.
ex:- if application has 10 OSD then only 5 OSD are getting imported.
Since App-v 4.6 was earlier standalone all the OSD were published to different user using different AD groups,
Do the package has to be edited again to import all OSD or manifest files has to be changed to include all OSD to get imported to SCCM 2012.
    Thanks

Open up the app in the sequencer, add the file to your scripts folder. If the script requires to be run elevated, you'll want to use the Deployment config file and use Global publishing....
If you don't need elevation you can use the User Config and won't need to publish globally.

  • Windows 8.1 clients are not detecting updates deployed to them through SCCM 2012 R2

    Hello,
We are using SCCM 2012 R2 to deploy software updates.
On Windows 8.1 SCCM does not show certain updates as being needed and isn't deploying them to the clients even though Windows Update will show them as high importance. These same updates are being detected and deployed to Windows 8 clients successfully.
I believe that the update catalog that WSUS uses may have some incorrect detection rules for the following updates:
    2917933
    2913320
    2913270
    2913152
    2909569
    2904440
    2904266
    2903939
    2899189
    2893984
    2893294
    2892074
    2916626
    2898785
My automatic deployment rules include Windows 8.1 in the product category. I have even created a standalone rule for Windows 8.1 that builds a new package and the behavior is the same.
We only have a handful of Windows 8+ clients so this hasn't been a big issue but others may want to keep an eye out.

I am also running into this issue.  After "checking online for updates" on one of my machines in office I found that there were 21 important updates for my 8.1 box.  When I cross reference them in SCCM under All Software Updates, it appears these
8.1 updates are not listed.  They are however listed for all other OS.
10 seconds after typing this, I went in to verify my WSUS ->  Products and Classifications settings and come to find 8.1 and 2012 R2 weren't selected, even though it's an option in SCCM.  Go figure!  This wasn't the end though.  After
running a Synchronization, my issue still wasn't resolved.  Went back to check my settings and they again were changed back to having these OS unchecked.  Finally, a solution!  I found that in SCCM, under Administration tab, Site Configuration
    > Sites > ABC - Mysitename, right click and scroll down to "Configure Site Components" > Software Update Point.  This setting (although the same as is in WSUS) takes precedence, thus was rolling my settings back to the original configuration
    in WSUS.
So long story short, even though my automatic deployment rules stated approve all windows 7/8/8.1 criticals/importants, 8.1 was getting skipped for the most part because my WSUS server wasn't syncing with Microsoft for all of the updates I required.  I
did have a couple of updates that squeezed through because they were categorized as "Security Updates for Windows 8, 8.1".
Not sure if this is the solution you were looking for, but your thread got me started in the right direction, hopefully this response helps in the same way!
    Thanks!

  • Adobe licenses - import into SCCM (for reports purpose)

    Dear Adobe community
Are there any good tricks for importing Adobe license keys from our Adobe Volume License web page into a SCCM 2012 server?
There are some great reports in SCCM where you can check which Adobe products are installed on which computers, but I have yet to discover how to import them.

    Hello There,
I am using SCCM 2012 to deploy critical and important updates through Automatic Deployment Rule it works fine but i have noticed recently on the client machines i see the same KB / update is installed multiple times.
Why would this happen? Please suggest.

    Hi,
My computer also have duplicated updates installed. I uninstalled one of them that needed a restart. Then uninstall another one after restart, it hadn't asked for restart and the uninstall process was very fast. So I think the update only installed one time,
    the others are duplicated records.

  • Handling of pending reboot, exclusive updates for patch management with SCCM 2012

    Hello,
Planning to use SCCM 2012, I would like to understand how smart is SCCM 2012 when dealing with specific patch management situation.
    Assuming I have the following:
    - A given server to be patched is missing a lot of updates, several being mutually exclusive. This typical case will require several reboot / patching to properly obtain a server fully up to date.
    - A given server to be patched is in pending reboot state because the local admin installed new software and has not restarted the server yet as requested
    - Those servers have configured maintenance windows of 2 hours during each night. I scheduled a deployment of missing patches authorizing restart.
--> when the maintenance window will be reached:
    - will the server first be restarted to clean the pending reboot ?
    - will the the server be patched / restarted several times as required to fully meet the updates to be deployed.
    Another scenario on workstation side:
    - can I enforce deployment of updates at a given time, do not automatically restart the workstation during patch deployment, but after deployment schedule a mandatory restart with a countdown if there is a pending reboot... From end-user perspective, it
would have the following behavior. For instance:
    - patches are automatically installed on Monday at 10 AM
    - as soon as deployment is done, warning message is displayed to ask users to reboot
    - then user has up to 48h to restart his computer by himself. If he does not do it, it will be automatically done after countdown expires.
--> Can such a scenario be managed by SCCM 2012 ?
    Regards.

    Hi,
I have a related question about deploying Microsoft Security Updates to workstations via SCCM 2012.  Is there a way to deploy the MS updates to workstations and only suppress reboots for machines with users logged on or locked?  There seems to
be only 2 different options for reboots, Suppress them all or don't suppress them at all.  We would like SCCM to reboot the machines that are logged off, but suppress the reboot for those that are logged on, while at the same time, provide the user with
a notification that their machine needs to be rebooted (at their convenience).
We've tried applying the Domain GPO "No auto-restart with logged on users for scheduled automatic updates installations" (Enabled) and "Configure Automatic Updates" (Disabled), but the logged on/locked machines still receive the restart countdown with no
    option to postpone or delay.
This is a show stopper for us since we have an environment where we are absolutely not allowed to reboot a logged on machine.
For a little background, we are coming from SMS 2003 and the Distribute Software Updates (ITMU) way of deploying MS Updates, where we could always set the program to run "Only when no user is logged on".
Please tell me there is a way to achieve our desired result.
    Thanks,
    Dan

  • Update membership is taking too long to update members in the collection - SCCM 2012 R2 + CU1

    Hi,
We have a standalone primary site server hierarchy (SCCM 2012 R2 + CU1), Not only with this upgrade.starting from the SCCM 2012 SP1, We had an issue that members in the collections are not being updated as expected (like SCCM 2007).
I have created about 20+ query based collections with the normal with the "Full schedule" option but not used "Incremental update" option. Also i have observed that after a day or so..members are appearing.
anyone had solution to this, why this collection update membership in SCCM 2012 is improper?
    Thanks.
    srkr

    Hi Torsten,
We have about 25 machines in each collection, My collection condition is based on the package (Ex:if the package is not installed on the machine, it will appear in the collection to target the package),
WQL query looks good, I have used the same logic for all the collections with different package.
I did not see any error in colleval.log, all the collections are evaluating properly, but I can see .CEP files in COLLEVAL.BOX which has 0 KB size.
    Any Idea?

  • Updating Endpoint Protection definitions via SCCM 2012 R2

I've successfully deployed System Center Endpoint Protection to a device collection using SCCM 2012 R2.  However, the PC Status is "At Risk" because it's out of date.  Can someone please explain how I'm supposed to get the clients to
update the definition files.  I realized I didn't have "Definition Updates" checked under the Classifications tab of the Software Update Point Components Properties which I've now checked.  I'm not sure which Product to check under the
    Products tab.
Also not sure what the process is to deploy definition updates to Endpoint clients and have them update automatically with the latest definitions.  Thank You

You need to check "Forefront Endpoint Protection 2010" as the Product. Yes yes its the old name.
After that you need to create an ADR using the template Definition Updates under Software Updates and deploy it to a Collection that holds all clients with SCEP installed. The ADR will run directly after each syncronization of the SUP, so you should change
the SUP to sync to Windows Update at least once every 8 hour (definition updates are released that often).
    Thats the short version.

  • I need to share raw footage that is already imported into iMove, how do I do that?

I have raw footage imported into iMovie '11 that I need to beable to give to someone else, is this possible without first turning it into a project and exporting it that way?

  • How do I edit (import into VS 2012) an SSIS package that was deployed in SSISDB

    Greetings,
I inherited an SSIS package that is already deployed and scheduled.
Using the Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio, I can see that the package was deployed to Integration Services Catalog and resides in the SSISDB.
I am working directly on the server desktop with SSMS and Visual Studio 2012.
I'd like to open this package (the one that is actually deployed) in VS in order to test it and repair any issues if necessary (and then re-deploy it, etc.)
How can edit a package that has already been deployed?  I tried exporting the Project from its deployed SSISDB location using SSMS, but when I do this it creates a file that takes me through
a wizard that wants me to deploy the package to a server again. My goal is to edit a package from a deployed source.... not sure how to get it into VS for review/editing.
    Many Thanks!

"When you were trying to export, it was correct step. You need to follow that step by step wizard"
Many Thanks for the reply. I guess I don’t understand. It looks to me like the Export Wizard is trying to deploy the project into production somewhere (asking me to specify server,
    etc.).
I don't want to deploy it anywhere since it's already deployed. I want to edit a project that has been deployed (i.e. pull it from its deployed location)  so that I can review and edit
it 1st. Then, once I edit the project I would re-deploy it (presuming I need to import it into SSDT from its' deployed location....that is the part I don't understand).  Thanks again for your assistance with this stuff.
If Exporting project is confusing for you then Use Option A provided in below blog.
You need to create new SSIS project in your local and Import deployed project so that you can edit them there.

  • Update an APPX App with SCCM 2012 R2

    Hi,
When I update an APPX app, the app has to be closed to successfully update the app with SCCM. With a package, you can force the installation to kill the application, or ask the user to close the application. With SCCM and APPX apps, it's not possible. The
update will just fail when the app is still opened. I couldn't find an option like "Run script X before the update" so I can force the app to close or ask the user to close the app.
Is there a possibility to force the app to close or ask the user to close it before the update process starts? Or do I have to create a package for this instead of using the "Application" possibilities in SCCM?
    Thank you.
    Regards,
    JPvR

You could also look at creating a small PowerShell script around the AppX package to give yourself some more "scripting" options to close the app first. To add the AppX package you can use the
    Add-AppxPackage cmdlet.

  • How to view which updates were manually imported into WSUS

We need to manually install updates on a workstation that is not joined to our domain (in a workgroup) and match the updates that are normally installed via WSUS.
WSUS has some extra updates added that were downloaded from the Microsoft Catalog site.
How can I see which catalog updates are added to our WSUS server?

In that case, I don't know why I've never had the issue on my gazillions of Win7 deployments, and, this KB is therefore very misleading about Vista & later sysprep behaviour...  :S
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/903262/en-au
Unless the master image had actually been patched with Windows Update or WSUS, the master image would never actually have a SusClientID. That's the reason most organizations avoid this situation.
I do not know why the article claims that sysprep was changed to clear this ID. It still does not do it, as evidenced by the thousands of threads in this forum directly related to this issue over the past seven years (since the release of Vista), most
of which involved just as many Windows 7 systems as they did Windows XP systems.
The 2nd and 3rd paragraph in the symptoms section is still the case:
This issue  occurs if the computer was set up by using a Windows 2000 image, a Windows Server 2003 image, or a Windows XP image in which the registry value for SusClientID is populated before it is deployed to client computers.
When you use Sysprep to generalize an image for a virtual machine, or when you use a unique SID-generating technology to create the images,
the SusClientId registry value is not cleared if it is populated within the image before the image is deployed.
What's also relevant (and disappointing), and may have something to do with the claimed involvement of sysprep, is that the WUAgent v7.0 was supposed to have self-detecting capabilties for duplicated SusClientIDs. See the note in that section about "changes
it's SusClientID if the hardware changes". Sadly, it doesn't work. Also, there's no "hardware change" on virtual machines, so that's a non-starter from the get go. I can count on one hand the number of times I've seen a WindowsUpdate.log where the WUAgent
correctly detected a duplicate SusClientID and spontaneously generated a new one.

  • Client machines duplicated once enrolled into SCCM 2012 R2

When deploying OSD build and capture of win7 x64, I have in my TS to check the system name.  What is supposed to happen during the imaging process (according to my TS) is that it is supposed to check the sccm device database for system name.  If
it doesn't exist it is supposed to prompt to give a computer name and if it does it's supposed to goto next step automatically.  Problem is sometimes I an still getting prompted to enter the system name even if the system name/Mac address is in the system
database.  Other times, when I go to initiate the imaging process it tells me that there are no available images for the machine.  When I check the console the machine is in the device database...about 10-20 times.  So, I have to delete them
all then I can image the machine.  Has anyone had this happen before and no how to resolve?  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks in advance!
