Updating JTree Using a Custom TreeModel

Hello,
I have created a custom TreeModel that implements the TreeModel interface. The underlying data objects are stored in an existing tree structure similiar to a file/directory filesystem. When I add a new "file" object to the data model, I want to see it in the tree immediately. To make a long question short: what are the necessary steps to communicate with the JTree? Any info or references would be much appreciated.

I don't know how to do this by just implementing
TreeModel. This is using DefaultTreeModel.Yeah, I really don't want to use DefaultTreeModel because I would have to wrap my data objects as TreeNodes. Since my data objects are already in a tree structure, implementing TreeModel is much cleaner.
It looks like I have to implement fireTreeNodesInserted() in my TreeModel, but I guess what I need to understand is how to register the JTree as a listener to my custom TreeModel. JTree doesn't directly implement TreeModelListener. I read somewhere that JTree automatically registers itself with the TreeModel, but that is not what I am observing.
So..., I am still in need of more info.

Refreshing JTree with a customized TreeModel

I'm newer to Swing, and I'm seeking for help for a JTree problem.
I hoped to display an XML document with JTree. So I customized a TreeModel and TreeNode to handle the XML data.
I used DOM to handle XML, and define TreeNode with the following class:

I didn't define any personal TreeModelListener for this TreeModel
and then I created a JTree object to display the XML tree

and I defined JtreeListener.
What I hoped to do is to make modification for the XML document in the JTree.
I added the editing functions in the "valueChanged" function. I added a new DOM node as a child of an existing element node by directly append the child in the DOM node. The code is like the follows:
DOMToTreeNode treeNodeSelected =(DOMToTreeNode)
treeInputParameter.getLastSelectedPathComponent();
org.w3c.dom.Node domNode = treeNodeSelected.getNode();

Up to now, it seems work fine. The TreeModel updates the DOM Document, and the modification being shown in JTree.
But when I tried to replace an existing node with a new node, something went wrong.
domNode.replace(newChild, oldChild);
I debugged the code, and found the underlying DOM Document in the TreeModel had been successfully changed, but the TreeModel didn't update the display in JTree.
I'm afraid this is quite a naive question, but would someone be kindly help me deal with this? It seems that the reason is that some code is missing to let the TreeModel refresh the frontend JTree display. But I realy don't know how to tackle this.

BAT 5.1(4) won't update phones using a custom file

Hi all -
I'm trying to use BAT 5.1(4) to change the device pool of a number of 7912 handsets on CCM 4.1(3) using a custom file with a list of the extensions affected. I set the query up and it works fine, but when I then try to change the device pool and update the phones the status window flashes up very briefly but the changes are not made.
Trying to make the same change using a custom query works with no problems, but I don't fancy doing this for 51 non-sequential extensions! Anyone had a similar problem?

BAT , the configuration is actually done on the profile that is associated to update the phone, not the BAT CSV

JTREE: Custom TreeModel does not update non-root nodes

I have a JTree that uses a custom TreeModel that wraps over (delegates to) a data class X which keeps track of all its children. The class X maintains its own data structure internally (references to other data objects). It also implements 'equals' and 'hashcode' methods. When the data changes in X, it invokes fireTreeStructureChanged on the TreeModel. (There is a TreeModelListener registered with the TreeModel). This works very well for the root node but not for the other non-root nodes. The JTree correctly calls 'equals' and I can see that equals returns 'false' but for non-root nodes the JTree does not refresh though I can see the underlying data structure has changed.
I am wondering if I may not have fully & correctly implemented fireTreeStructureChanged as it doesn't seem to do much. Or I may be looking at the wrong place. Any pointers would be appreciated.
BTW, this question is very similar to one asked years earlier http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=153854 but it didn't help me :(

ESS Leave Custom fields, how to update them using BADIs

We are trying to use custom fields provided in ESS leave application, and we want to update them using BADI. As these information is not available on the screen while requesting leave request.
I did look at PT_ABS_REQ BADI and seems i can use Post_Vio_BLOP .. but its unable to update table PTREQ_ATTABSDATA .
Can you please suggest what can be best approach here.

Did you look at using the Implict Enhancement Options available at the beginning & end of the POST_VIA_BLOP Method? Or even better, enhance the Class CL_PT_ARQ_REQ_EXIT & replace the IF_EX_PT_ABS_REQ~POST_VIA_BLOP Method with an Overwrite Exit?

Ok, so you want to make a tree. To determine the data that appears in a tree, you have to make a custom tree model. The API for this is at :

I assume you are going to be using Nodes, since you are using XML. For this I might start with something like
class NodeTreeModel implements TreeModelI would then implement the 'getChildCount()' as the number of subnodes a node has, and the value of a tree node to the nodes value.

Using a custom PL/SQL to populate the primary key in a tabular form

I want to use a Custom PL/SQL Function to populate the primary key when I insert a new record into a tabular form. I want to get the value from a hidden page Item. The code I am using for the primary key source is:

Brian - Sometimes whitespace at the end of the block causes this. Be sure to trim everything after the last semicolon including tabs and newlines.

Profit centre is updating for vendor and customer line items in document level. But the same is to be reflected/updated in profit centre field in FBL1N and Reports.

How can i refresh a jtree using DefaultMutableTreeNode?

I already create a jtree using DefaultMutableTreeNode, and i also could implement to it the addMouseListener to do a action when the user press every node......Also i used the following instruction to remove all nodes: root_tree.removeAllChildren(); and it instruction remove all the nodes....but when i :
fill the tree
compile my program
i see the tree in my jpanel....it is Ok!
now.....
fill the tree
remove the tree
compile my program
i see only the root (this i wish) it is Ok!
But now i would like that after that i press a combo element (in the actionperformed method):
remove the tree
fill the three with the new nodes
show the tree
But my tree always is the same :(......is like it to need a repaint ....but i already implement it...but i obtain the same result.....
Do somebody have any suggestion...or idea how i can do a refresh in my jtree?....

Construct your tree like this:DefaultMutableTreeNode rootNode = xxx;
DefaultTreeModel model = new DefaultTreeModel( rootNode );
JTree tree = new JTree( model );When you update the root node, just tell the model to fire the appropriate change event by doing this:model.reload( rootNode );or this:model.nodeStructureChanged( rootNode );or this:model.setRoot( rootNode )

JTree making nodes in TreeModel invisible

I have a TreeModel that represents a database structure. I want to display that structure within a JTree. No problem so far, I just create the JTree using theTreeModel. Everything works great.
Now, I want some nodes in the tree (tables in the structure) to not be visible to the user, but I cannot remove them from the model. I need the entire db structure intact within the model so all my processing works correctly, but there is no need for the user to be aware of the entire structure.
Anyway, have any ideas?

Try extending DefaultMutableTreeNode and just had it
return the count and children of the 'visible' nodes.More info... And maybe add methods getRealChildCount() and getRealChild(int i) so you can manipulate them internally.

is quite slow due to the cfloops it uses to build the calendar. As
the page does not change very often I wanted to use Raymond
Camden's ScopeCache custom tag. However, for some reason the custom

Hi, thanks to both of you for your help. I reverted back the
custom tag and it was picked up this time - I don't know what
happened before. The functionality works as expected but I have hit
another problem and I am hoping I can tap your combined ColdFusion
wisdom to solve!!
The calendar returns leave records for staff and filters the
records using a querystring variable appended when the user clicks
on a particular month. However, what members of staff the user sees
depends on the data held in the users' session variables based on
their authority. The reason I wanted to use caching is because the
page takes a good ten seconds to run because of the use of cfloops
for the members of staff and the days of the week to dynamically
build the page. Using the custom tag would have worked if all
members of staff saw the same calendar data and could only see one
month. Can you see anyway I can speed up the page and do you think
caching is the way forward here?
