Updating ROWID in java program

Hi Folks,
I am updating a row in using ROWID in java program, it is not updating the records based on the rowid.. I am copying the sample code
          try{
               for(i = 0; i < size ; i++) {
                    stmt.clearParameters();
               oracle.sql.ROWID rowIds = (oracle.sql.ROWID)list.get(i);
                    stmt.setString(1,status);
                    stmt.setString(2,idArray[i]);
                    stmt.setString(3,message[i]);
                    stmt.setROWID(4,rowIds);
                    stmt.executeUpdate();
                    //stmt.addBatch();
Java Method to update the SQL
private String getUpdateSqlString(){
          StringBuffer sql = new StringBuffer(20);
          sql.append(" update xx_custom_table set status_flag = ? , ");
          sql.append(" id= ?, status_message = ? where rowid = ? ");
          sql.append(" status_flag = 'U' ");
          return sql.toString();
Can any one explain this ?
Thanks

I checked the list, valid rowid is populated in the list. Can you explain how you determined that and what, exactly, you mean by "valid rowid"?
You are stating that every element in LIST is
- A ROWID in a valid format
- That corresponds to a row in XX_PRODUCT_TABLE
- Where STATUS_FLAG = 'U' already?
The only way to get that information is to query the XX_PRODUCT_TABLE table, so presumably you are doing that before this snippet of code runs. Any chance that the row is modified or deleted by some other session between the time you query the database to get the ROWID and the time you run the update?
And more generally, why are you using the ROWID here? It seems odd that you would be identifying the rows to update, storing the set of rows to update in a Java collection, and then iterating over that collection to do the actual updates. A simple set-based UPDATE, or at least a stored procedure, would seem far more efficient...

  • Java program not updating in correct sequence in applet

    Greetings,
    I have a java program with interactive graphic components. After completely writing the program, I create two shells ( or handle): an application shell with JFrame and an applet shell with JApplet. The application version of the program works fine. But the applet version skips some (middle) steps in the painting process when responding to user inputs.
    Does anyone have any ideas as to what's going on?
    I am not able to embed code snippets because my Internet has not being working and am finger typing this on my cellphone.
    Thanks for any help.

    My cable person won't come before Monday so I am struggling for now. Thanks for the replies, though.
    More info:
    1) both shells are extremely basic. They both simply add the drawing panel like so:
    DrawingPane drawingPanel = new DrawingPanel();
    add(drawingPanel);//frame.add for application
    the application uses statc main; the applet uses init. Nothing more.
    2) the program paints the hands and fingers of a stick figure red or green dependring on which foot of the figure is clicked.
    3) the application version works completely
    4) the applet version updates the right hand the first time; but not on subsequent clicks. More mysteriously, although it skips the hand, it still go on to update the fingers.
    5) No I don't know about event threads yet.
    Thanks.

  • SAP database updations through Java program

    Hi All,
    From Java program, I want to access SAP database batch RFC
    Please tell me which batch RFC's I have to use for read and update of a table.
    Please also tell me how to find out a batch RFC for a particular table.Is there any way to find it out like BAPI.
    What are the steps and settings ?
    Detailed steps help the requirement.
    Thanks,
    Giri

    Giri,
    Ya...Java APP sents data to XI and XI needs to insert the data into the database.
    Before the next round of data is sent by the Application, Xi should sent back info on the status of the records.
    Is this what you want?
    This will be like I have pointed earlier possible without a BPM. But, make the call from the sending application Synchronous. And then map the JDBC response to the calling aplication.
    But this updation is only possible through XI.
    If i got the requirement wrong can you let me know in more detail, what is it that you are trying?
    Reward if solved

  • I just downloaded the Java software update and now certain programs aren't loading that use Java?

    So I downloaded the new softeware update and now my programs that use Java won't load. Does anyone know what I can do.

    Due to the extreme unpredictability of the Flashback Trojan, that was constantly changing (and a new variant that's been detected and seems to be worse), Apple decided to play it safe just in case the revised Java code was still vulnerable. So, Java is disabled by default for applets and must be manually enabled as needed (with the warning about possible vulnerability).
    So, head on over to Java Preferences, in Utilities, and enable the thing as needed. Disable when no longer in use for security's sake. BTW, if you enable but don't use Java in awhile, it is configured to self-disable for the same reason.

  • Updation in zip file through java program

    Hi,
    Can any buddy help me updating zip file using java programs. I dont want to delete the zip file but I want to update single file in the zip.
    Any clue ?
    Regards,
    Ashish

    I mean I want to update a zip file using java program.
    Suppose there are 4 files zipped into single zip file.
    zipped.zip contains a.txt, b.txt. c.txt. d.txt
    Now the contect of a.txt got changed and I want to update zipped.zip to with the changed a.txt.
    I have one way of creating a new file with new set of a.txt, b.txt, c.txt and then delete the earliar zipped.zip and rename the newly created zipped to zipped.zip.
    I dont want to do the same as above mentioned way. Is there any way provided in java API to remove any entry or update any entry?
    I feel now the problem has got explained in details.
    Any help ?

  • Java stored procedure vs. PL-SQL vs. external java program

    Hi,
    I'm using a stored procedure for running a query and a few consequent updates. Currently I'm using Java stored procedure for that, which was my choice for simplicity on one hand, and running with the DB on the other.
    In my tests, strangely enough it came out that running as java stored procedure was 3-4 times slower than running as a java program outside the database. I don't know how to explain this, and I wonder if switching to PL/SQL will improve the performance of the code.
    Any experiences? recommendations?
    Thanks,
    Dawg

    In my tests, strangely enough it came out that running as java stored procedure was 3-4 times slower than running as a java program outside the database. I don't know how to explain this, and I wonder if switching to PL/SQL will improve the performance of the code.This isn't strange at all. See: Oracle's JVM (Aurora) is an independent Java Virtual Machine implementation, in accordance to specification. It implements all necessary parts of it (I think so). When you use an external JVM (I assume it's Sun's HotSpot JVM) you use completely different product. It is implemented in different way, it has many different code parts.
    One of the biggest differences between Oracle's JVM and Sun's JVM is [Just-in-Time compiler|http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Just-in-time_compilation]. Oracle has implemented it only in the 11g version of database, i.e. 2 years ago, while Sun performed it back in 2000 and continues to improve it for the last 9 years. That would explain obvious differences between Java program inside and outside the DB: they are executed in absolutely different worlds. Diffs could be up to 10x times or more - that's not unusual.
    If you are on 10g and want to compare performance of stored Java procedure vs external program, then you might use additional command-line instruction for external program to disable JIT:
    -XintPS. I wouldn't use Java for your task - that's a total overkill. Use simple SP instead.

  • Need help in creating a java program

    Hi everyone.
    I'd like to say before i start about my problem, that i've only begun learning java and my teacher hasn't explained anything at all. He only showed us by doing it himself and then showing us the final version. I've searched a little on how to program but i get little success in finding a good tutorial.
    I need help creating a program which has been assigned to me due in a few days in which i can't contact my teacher for help.
    I need to write a java program which inputs 3 items. The number of kilometres you drove, the number of litres of gas you used and the price you paid for the gas. Then, the program must calculate the number of litres used per 100km driven, which is litres divided by kilometres times 100, how much it costs to drive 100km, which is the result (a) times the price per litre and the number of miles per American gallon of gas ( one American gallon = 3.785 litres, and one mile = 1.609 km.
    The program has to output my name, the inputs given, the results computed and a message saying "Program Complete".
    To give you what i've done to begin with, from what i understood, is:
    import javax.swing.JOptionPane;
    public class prog1
         public static void main(String args[])
              final double americanGallon = 3.785;
              final double mile = 1.609;
              kilometresDriven,
              gasUsed;
              priceOfLiterGas;
              System.out.println("My Name");
              System.out.println("Number of kilometres driven:");
              kilometresDriven = JOptionPane.showInputDialog ("Kilometres Driven");
              System.out.println("Number of Litres of gas used:");
              gasUsed = JOptionPane.showInputDialog ("Litres of gas used");
              System.out.println("Price of a liter of gas:");
              priceOfLiterGas = JoptionPane.showInputDialog("Price per liter");
    Up to now, that's all i've got. i know i'm wrong, but i'm not sure how to do this. Could someone give me an outline of what this program is suppose to look like?
    Thanks in advance.

    Here's an update on my program. I've worked on certain details and would need your comments whether it contains errors. I'd also want to know if it would work or not because i don't know how to check it on my computer.
    Here's the update:
    import javax.swing.JOptionPane;
    public class Prog1
    public static void main(String args[])
    String name;
    double kmDriven;
    double litresUsed;
    double pricePaidForGas;
    double priceOfALiter;
    name = JOptionPane.showInputDialog("Name");
    input = JOptionPane.showInputDialog("Number of km driven");
    kmDriven = Double.parseDouble (input);
    input = JOptionPane.showInputDialog("Number of litres of gas used");
    litresUsed = Double.parseDouble (input);
    input = JOptionPane.showInputDialog("Price paid for gas");
    pricePaidForGas = Double.parseDouble (input);
    input = JOptionPane.showInputDialog("Price of a litre of gas");
    priceOfALiter = Double.parseDouble (input);
    a = (litresUsed/kmDriven)*100;
    b = ((litresUsed/kmDriven)*100)*priceOfALiter);
    c = (kmDriven/1.609)
    System.out.println("Name:" + name);
    System.out.println("Number of litres used per 100km:" + a);
    System.out.println("Cost of driving 100km" + b);
    System.out.println("Number of miles per American Gallon of Gas:" + c);
    System.out.println("Program Complete");
    System.exit(0);
    Comments please.
    Thanks in advance

    As stated. I have a link in ~/.mozilla/plugin that points to test/jre/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so, which is the java 6 update 21 runtime environment.
    Java doesn't show in about:plugins, and java applets don't start (firefox suggests to install missing plugins).

  • How can we calculate no. of instances in a java program ?

    Hi,
    I want to know that
    How can we calculate no. of instances in a java program ?
    Actually I just want to calculate number of live instances in a program at any time...
    Thanx in Advance
    Vijay

    Been asked a few times in this forum.
    Try having a search.
    One way, in brief, is to instrument your classes so that constructors update a per-type counter, and enqueue a PhantomReference for the instance.
    When you pop from an associated ReferenceQueue, decrement the counter for the no longer reachable type.
    Once you have this, you can query instance counts per type, or globably etc.
    We maintain a model which can be remotely queried - and display results over time using JGraph. Gives a fairly non-intrusive way to spot and narrow down the cause of memory leaks in a large application.

    Hi All,

    Make sure you take package structure into account.
    If you have say
    package testing.things;
    public class Test
        public static void main(String[] args)
            System.out.println("World Hello");
    }in file Test.java, you compile it with (assuming your current working directory is at the folder in which the source file is located).
    javac -d . Test.javaand run it with
    java testing.things.TestThe -d . option creates the output at the current directory (with a folder structure matching your package structure).

  • Problems of running java program by crontab in Linux

    I have a java application program which runs great when started in command line, or in shell script, or Perl. However, when it is started by crontab in Linux, it stops in the middle when images are to be generated. I guess there might be some settings I need to handle in order to run this java application by crontab. We tried to start the shell script or Perl program in which the java program was invoked, but still didn't work.
    This may be a littler stretching. Does anyone have similar experience and success?
    Thanks in advance.

    Pls share ur ideasAs kajbj said - you need to store a token / file with a run date on the file system. Each time the application runs, have it compare with the date from this file with the current date. If different, it's the first run of the day. If not, it is not the first run of the day. Each time have it update the date on the file.
