Updation of date in my form page

Hi friends,
I created a form page with report, in which the insertion that i made into the forms has to reflect in report
In my form these are the corresponding fields,
Requested by:
start date:
status:
priority:
My requirement in the form is when i logged into the form page for an entry, the start date field should automatically have the current sysdate, and i need the fill up the remaining fields to make an entry in report...
I have also brought the corresponding sysdate in my start date form field when i opened the form, but the problem for me is the start date field alone is not getting inserted into my table, except this field all the other field is getting inserted...
How i made the sysdate to appear in the corresponding start date field means,
Under the item source of the start date field, i made the following changes
source used: replacing an existing value in an session state
source type: static assignment (value equal to source)
source value or expression: i gave the following sql query like
select sysdate from dual;
soon after this change, when i login into the application, for putting an entry in form
sysdate is automatically showing it in the start date field, but it is not getting inserting into my report, soon after i give create button in my form page....
So wat to do......why it is not inserting...whether any other string available for passing sysdate in apex

I already obtained solution for it.........Since i gone through the steps that you mentioned it is right, but a slight change in it.....
source used: always use existing value in session state.
source type: db column.
source value or expression: respective column(here in case: start_date)
But change the
default value: to_char(start_date,'dd-mon-rr')
default source type: plsql expression, and also set the format mask to the format that you are given.....
It will work perfectly.......

SQL INSERT / SQL UPDATE don't work with form page, don't affect table

The subject line says it all. No matter what I try, my updates on the form don't appear on the report page, which accesses the table. When I look at the table using SQL WORKSHOP, the changes aren't made there either. What am I missing? I have another report page and form page with a different table in the same application and updates in that table work fine. I coded them both the same. What should I be looking at?

How you have created the FORM page? Using FORM WIZARD? Or You have created blank page and after that you have manually created all the form items?
If you have used WIZARD to create form page, then you can see a page process with Automatic Row Processing (DML) type. Here you need can set DML (Insert/Update/Delete) you wish to use on this form. APEX will take care of the rest.
If there is no such process in your page, then you need to create one. You may have one process to do both (Insert and Update) and you can have two sepate processes. I prefer having two seperate page processes (after submit), one for Insert and one for Update.
Now you can make the Insert process conditional so that it only execute when you click button - Create (Add or any similar button you have ) Also make the Update process conditional so that it only execute when you click button - Save (Update or any similar button you have )
Just a quick note - From the above trigger, I can guess you are allowing users to enter Primary Key manually? In my opinion, Primary key should be always system generated using SEQUENCE. Users can only enter BUSINESS KEY (if any) and we should not use Business key as Primary Key.

Reg Date field in Form

I am working with a form in which I need to display a date from a XXXX table. Initially when I run that form online it should display MM/DD/YYYY (to let the user know that he/she should enter the date in the specified format)in the date field if the value in the table is empty for the current record otherwise it will display the date from the table. It should allow the user to update the date from the form itself, if it is empty.
Can anyone help to resolve this issue?

In then WHEN-CREATE-RECORD you could do:
COPY( 'MM/DD/YYYY', '<date_item>');
Copy allows you to copy something that isn't a valid date, into the date item.
Of course you ought to make this NLS_DATE_FORMAT compliant, and not hard code the format, but that's up to you.

Tabular Form Page - Insert and Update Primary Key

I am creating a Tabular Form page which will display 2 columns:
CODE (Text Field), DESCRIPTION(Field)
The *'CODE'* is a primary key to the table/view and *'DESCRIPTION'* is the corresponding detail information for the *'CODE'*.
I am trying to create an updateable report on this page which will show these columns and when a user wants to add a new row,they should be able to add a new row with CODE='somecode' and DESCRIPTION='description' but shouldn't be able to update (but should be displayed) the *'CODE'* value once inserted into the table or view.
Is there a way to do that? Please share your expertise.

I't a bit unclear what you want.
In your first post it seems that you don't want the user to change the PK.
In your second post the user can change the PK, but you get a db error.
Anyway, I guess you don't want the user to change the PK.
I have a few support tables, which are the source for some LOV's.
For those I also add records with a manual assigned PK, rather then via a sequence, just to improve consistency across applications.
The data is protected by foreign keys to the main tables.
You could further add a trigger to your table which throws an error the moment it detects a change on your PK.

Two forms that update differrent tables on the same page?

I tried to add two forms that update different tables on to one page.
Problem is when I do that the forms gives me an error saying the field does not exist. It's like it is trying to update one table with the other tables fields.
As an example Say I have one forms that is for people table and another one that is the Jobs table.
When I go to update the people table, it sends the data for the jobs fields too I get an error like the field job description does not exist.
I have two different forms for these and everything.
I would hope it is possible to have two forms that update different tables on the same page.

I was trying the exact same thing, but i managed to work round it by setting the steps to hide one region, so the user would enter the form see one region submit the region then direct back to the same page with the different region visible and the original hidden.
I don't know if this would be acceptable for you...

Merge pdf form data to an ASP page via HTTP

I am using Adobe LiveCycle.
Using LiveCycle has anyone been able to collect data from a PDF form posted on their web page, submit via submit button, that data to an ASP page and use the ASP page to do record manipulation.
I have successfully created a PDF page and collected the data with JavaScript and updated the database. I'm looking for an alternative solution.

How do I get pages 5.2 to automatically update the date in my documents - before the update I could do this. Does anybody have the knowledge or a workaround.
If not I will dump pages 5.2 and use my old version!!! this feature is important for any and all businesses using pages??

What confuses me is that all the apple provided templates in pages seem to auto update their time and date upon opening.
So there MUST be a way to do it... Ive been unable to work out how...

Update current date in mysql using Update form DW CS4 PHP

I have a field called datePosted that is set to curdate in the database. What I want to do is when the checkbox on this form called approved is checked, and the form is submitted, I want that dateApproved field to update to the current date in the database. When I have tried it, it says zero. I have tried setting a variable and using now() but cant get it to change on update.

What that does is check whether the approved checkbox has been selected. If it has, $_POST['approved'] is set to 1 (true); if not, it's set to 0 (false).
In the GetSQLValueString() function, the value is set to NOW() if the checkbox has been selected. Otherwise, the existing value in the approved column is reassigned.

Updating data in adobe form

Hi All,
In my java webdynpro application, i want to show an adobe form and allow the user to update the data. Then, i want to store the form in binary in a db table.
The layout of my form is not fixed as a different form can be uploaded each time. So, all i have is the binary of the interactive form.
I have added the interactive form uielement in my view. I have bound the 'pdfsource' property to a context attribute that contains the binary of the interactive form to be shown. Also, i have chosen 'usepdf' in the mode.
Now, after the user updates the form, if i read the context attribute bound to pdfsource, will i get the updated data in the form? Or should i do anything more to get the desired result?

In my Project we solved the same type of situation in following Procedure.
1.) First after the User enters data in to the Form u hav to read it from the PDF
      by using this code .It converts the Data in to XML Format.

for the first a timer could do that. The second is not possible without having asynchrous message support in Forms. There are plans for such a feature but its not yet implemented

Print the form data instead of whole page

I am having a problem in my ADF/JSF page. I just want to print the form data of my form instead of the whole page.using javascript:print() method prints the whole page.so can you help me in solving this issue. I have JDev 10.1.3 and do not want to upgrade to JDev 11g!

you can apply CSS to the page and use the media selector to deermine which components should appear in the print and which should not.

What is the easiest way to get the data from the mailmerge to form Pages files that can be saved separately?

Using Iwork 09 I have spent several hours setting up a mail merge from a spread sheet in Numbers to create receipts for my customers from a Pages template.
After the merge I am left with one long Pages document that will not save as separate files; one per customer, it will only save the whole document of several receipts.
What is the easiest way to get the data from the mailmerge to form Pages files that can be saved separately?

You will probably be more pleased with the iWork apps when you begin to learn your way around. Until you learn such basic things as how to print only one page of a document, you will probably continue to be disappointed.

My simple form page isn't passing along the form variable I need to load my update page?

I have created a recordset on my update page that specifies a form variable filter that matches the form ID on my simple form page. When I enter the information on that page and submit, I go to the update page but nothing is loaded. I've tested the update page using a URL parameter and it loads perfectly. Why isn't my form variable working?

Can a Page with a web part, getting data from a form Library view, be exported to EXCEL?

Certain data in a form Library is limited to a selected group of people (say Director's Group).
I have created a Director's view in the Form library.
Then created a Director's page with a web part connecting that Director's view to get the desired data.
Then I have hidden the view, since form library can have contribute permission to all the users.
Permissions to that Director's page is given to only Director's Group.
However, Director's Group would like to export the data to MS EXCEL. Is it possible?
If not, any workaround using OOB functionalities?
