UPGRADE 4.6C to ECC 6.0 is done / how could I Start the Unicode
HI Guys,
we upgraded successfully our 4.6 C (MDMP) to ECC 6.0 (<b>NON Unicode</b>).
Could you please say if I had this understand right:
if I would like to start now the unicode conversion, I need this DVD "SAP NetWeaver 2004s Installation Export DVD" and there is "sapinst" that started the conversion to ECC 6.0 UNICODE.
Is that right ?

1. Delete the contents of the library on the desktop Window 7 computer;
2. Turn off iTunes Match;
3. Copy the contents of the Music folder from the working Windows 7 computer to the desktop Music folder;
4. Import the new contents of the Desktop music folder into the library;
5. Close / restart the iTunes client and confirm that the library has all the Songs as anticipated;
6. Turn on the iTunes Match service and allow it to run to completion.
This is a proven process on my Windows 7 computers and works very well. -

Maybe I am misunderstanding what you mean by "save his programs". If they are apps that you bought with your ID, they really aren't his apps. If they are apps that he bought with his own ID, he can download them again for free as long as he uses the same Apple ID.
You cannot transfer purchases from one Apple ID to another ID. Any apps that you bought on the iPad with your ID will have to be updated by using your Apple ID and password. If he bought apps with his own ID, he needs to use his ID and password in order to update those apps.
What I am saying is that you should have erased the iPad before he started using it with his own ID. If he wants to use apps that you purchased because he doesn't want to have to pay for them again, then he will just have to juggle the two ID's.
Know that if he switches to your ID in order to download a past purchase, he will lock himself out of his own ID for 90 days. You should take a look at this.

problem relating to the analysis of the warnings displayed whehn we run the UCCHECK for the client inventory by
checking the "Display lines that cannot be analyzed statically" option under the Selection-screen block
"Statements that cannot be analyzed statically" .Based on the warning codes generated during UCCHECK, they can
be classified into 12 different categories given below in the list ( Viz. ABB,MESSAGEG!C,MESSAGEG!D......MESSAGEG!P).The same are given below in the end

- Which are the warning codes which need resolution so that the program does not encounter any runtime
errors or during Integration testing ?
- Do all the offset related errors (For example ;variable A = B+offset(length)
or variable A+offset(length) = B ) need resolution so that the program gives no runtime error.
- Also, do all statements where length is calculated using STRLEN also need changes ? I have seen offset length related warnings come under MESSAGEG!M warning code.

SAP R/3 System analysis before upgrade 4.6C -- SAP ECC 6.0
Hello!
Before the upgrade from R/3 4.6C to ECC 6.0 I would like to execute SAP R/3 system analysis.
The following functions should be included in this program:
- detailed analysis of system modifications (effort driver and risk factor during an Upgrade)
- comparison against a SAP ERP 6.0 reference system
- extension SAP tools, including RBE and conflict lists (SPAU/SPDD)
- syntax analysis of program code with respect of adjustement need
- quality control of own development
- control of amount of transports within different company areas
- control of user information, such a user type, logon date, etc.
- basic control, whether a sufficient authorization concept is available
- Identification of objects that should be considered for the archiving in oder to decrease the db-size
My question are:
- which tasks can be convered with SAP standard transactions what are the names of the transactions?
- which effort do I investigate for these tasks?

Need to consider the following things:
For Reports its custom developed program so unless there is any kind of change in requirement from the client regarding the layout nothing needs to be changed I think it will work fine in ECC 6.0 to except few things may needs to be changed..so you need to discuss whether they want the reorts as it is right now or want to change the layout (adding some new info/fields etc) of any report so u need to modify the program for those and estimate accordingly for a medium complexitys Report dev it takes approx 9 pd (FRSTDSCoding+Unit Testing) so to modify it will be less than that (depending upon the scope of changes)
Now say for Batch Inputs(interface/Data Migration) using BDC you need to see how many BDCs are there again if the field lengths and layouts are not changing then no need to change anything (except the main thing ..you need to change the obsolete function modules there are some in 4.6 c like for data upload ws_upload_*** is there 4.6C but obsolete in ECC6.0 there are some new with enhanced functionality so you need to modify the BDCs and many cases it happens that the whole transaction screen changes for process in that case better to develop new BDCs so you have to consider those parameter look into and estimate accordingly modifying a BDC should not take more than 1 PD
Now say for Forms there was no Smart form in 4.6C form printer was there..though the same option is there in ECC 6.0 too..but better to go for/should go for Smart form in that case its complete new dev so estimate accordingly a medium complexitys form should take 8 PD (FRSTDSCoding+Unit Testing) you can take it as 10 PD too even if client wants to keep it is as it was in older version you have to redevelop the layout in ECC 6.0 again as form printer is even client dependent maximum you can copy the program associated with that form in the new version too and your effort will be saved again you have to consider if clients wants to change the layout too
Now for enhancement so in that case u need to see individual cases for a medium complexity enhancement it should take max 15 PD (FRSTDSCoding+Unit Testing)
One more important thing is that the Unicode Compatibility this needs to be done .needs to change the code (variable name) accordingly .also Version management tool is used for the standard programs

You need to start with the SPDD, SPAU and UCCHECK activity.
1. Then in the remediation part you need to check the syntax of all the programs. The issue were faced like some z-programs used some sub-routine in standard includes. So there maybe a change in the parameters, that you need to check.
2. The z-functions you need to check whether they are ok.
3. Some standard schema and functions have been change you need to check that.
4. Some transactions are removed and given alternative transactions.
5. Includes for some of the user exits have been changed you need to replace the code.
6. Payroll cluster version has been changed you need to run the conversion program.

Also, could you please rephrase your questions, as I do not quite get them.
As far as I know, there shouldn't be any conversion of the wagetypes. When the system is upgraded from 4.6c to ECC6.0, there will be a SPAU list for your to digest (good luck). As for wagetypes wise, all will be copied to your new ECC6 client. There's no conversion needed.
However, you will have to test thoroughly for all business scenarios of payroll. Calculate each payroll result, and make sure all valuation, calculation and wage types are generated as per the previous configuration and as per customer's existing requirement.

After opening the site, please select the Source Release Version which is 4.6 b Then Select the Target Release Version which is "mySAP ERP 2005" or ECC 6.0

1. How many days estimate is the downtime of the production system upon cut over if our database is already 1.5TB?
2. Is the uni-code conversion a very long process?

FrancisHi, I'm sorry for the delay to answer.
In your scenario you will probably need to use the resource minimized option instead of downtime minimized because you already are running two instances in the DEV/QAS server and if you use Downtime Minimized then in some time period this server will be runing three instances at the same time and I to be able to run it like this the Hardware resources have to be enough to do this, remember something, ECC 6.0 requires more HD, CPU and RAM than 4.7.
Could you share with us the HW resources you have in this machine? like RAM, available HD and CPU? also consider that HD I/O performance will be affected if you have limited Heads (HD's) in the array.
IF your HW is capable to start the three instances and work at a fair speed, then also QAS users and DEV users will suffer from low performance during some peak use of the shadow system but this can be adviced to users so they could take their actions.
Another important issue here is to know if you QAS or DEV is a copy of Productive system, if none of them is, then you won´t get a close idea of the posible problems and downtime you will need to run the upgrade process in Production system, this is very important.
Hope this will help and I will like to help you more so if you could then answer this questions.

You need to follow the steps carefully.
You first need to upgrade Oracle to 10g and then you need to upgrade your kernel to 46D_ext from 46D as 46D_ext ortace libraries support oracle 10g libraries and hence need to be very careful.
You can follow certain notes like :
SAPNote 932722 - Upgrade to Oracle 10.2 during a database copy
SAPNote 976457 - Oracle 10g Support on Windows: 4.6D-Based SAP Systems
Once you upgrade oracle and are able to start and work on SAP system (with Oracle 10.2.0.2 and 46D_ext kernel) then you can start the upgrade.
Rest of the upgrade is similar to a normal upgrade.
