UPGRADE EARLY QUESTION!

So I was wondering...my phone is a piece of garbage and I want to upgrade early if I can scramble the money together. If I upgrade early and pay full retail price, will I still be eligible for an upgrade this year in December? Or will it automatically change my upgrade status to sometime in 2013?

Buying and activating a phone at Full Price, or purchasing and activating a used phone from a friend, ebay, craigslist, etc. does not alter your contract term.  You would still be eligible for your normal upgrade in December.
Good luck.

  • What is option "Automatically upgrade earlier application" ?

    Hello,
With ZAV, i have produced the msi of Scribus version 1.3, all works fine : when i launch the command : msiexec /i ..., the application is deployed on the workstation.
I have also produced the version 1.4 of Scribus and i have check this option "Automatically upgrade earlier application", but when i deploy this to the same workstation, the old version are not uninstall.
My question is very simple: how ZAV determined there is an already existing version on the workstation ? ...same name, same product etc ??
    Thanks you

I'm not in the office right now, but as soon as I get back, I'll try to follow up and determine if an existing license is applicable to multiple upgrades.  I suspect not, but I have no real knowledge of that.  I do know that a single license only applies to a single platform, so you wouldn't be able to use the same serial number to activate a Windows and Mac installation.
I would recommend downloading the latest 30-day trial installations for each platform when your beta expires.

    Hi all
I am member since 2006. In my control panel I see questiones posted in 2009 and I am able to trace earlier questions from 2006 to 2008 which were defnitely more than 20 questions with around 90 posts in total.
I tried to search by "Suresh Bansal", still I could not find my earlier questions. They had useful tips and remarks.

If you are referring to search by "user ID" functionality, I recall having read some threads in the feedback forum. You could try looking up those.
AFAIK, it does not work since the Jive upgrade done last August.
Your only option is to scroll through all the threads that are listed under your name.

  • Is there any way I can upgrade early? Considering canceling contract..

My current upgrade date is 10/26. I bought the very first iPhone for Verizon (iPhone 4) the day it came out. This put my 2-year contract renewal date about a month after the iPhone 5 came out. It took lots of searching to locate an iPhone 5 in stock by the time my upgrade date rolled around. I am trying to see if I can avoid having to do this again with the iPhone 6, as my contract end date falls about a month too late once again. I have been a faithful Verizon customer for 10 years. If Verizon cannot move up my upgrade date I am going to switch to T-Mobile, who will pay my early termination fees from Verizon, allow me to order the iPhone 6 NOW, and has much lower monthly access rates. I don't understand why Verizon doesn't reward its loyal customers and would allow them to walk away after being a customer for a decade. Step up Verizon! Someone in customer service please help...

        trember3,
We truly understand how exciting the release of new phones are. We do not want to see you go. I do apologize as upgrades are only able to be processed on the actual upgrade date. Are you looking into upgrading early due to issues with your current device? Kaebfly, has presented some great options of either purchasing the device at full retail or looking into your Edge eligibility. Keep in mind if you purchase the iPhone 6 or 6 Plus at full retail you can still take advantage of the trade in promotion, as long as your device is in good working condition. Check out the trade in promotion here... http://bit.ly/GGnDDC

  • This is a continuation of my earlier question.  The CDs are burning with a .cda or .cdda format  I read the articles suggested, but I don't yet have an answer.  The files I am trying to burn are not protected.  They are personal recordings.

The CDs are in a .cda format.  I am starting with .AAC or mp3.  I have no player that can handle a .cda or .cdda format.  This relates to my earlier question.  I could not see how to add to that.  I am using Vista 32 bit.  I never had a problem with this before.  I tried re-downloading itunes.  I can burn a CD with Power2Go 8 and RealPlayer.  I have not tried others.

There is no "cda format" - this is just how Windows Explorer shows the tracks on an audio CD that can be played on any CD player.  When you use iTunes to burn a playlist to an audio disc, it creates a standard "Red Book" disc, converting the format of the files within the iTunes library to 16/44.1 audio (albeit without recovering any of diminished quality of mp3 or aac data).  If you want to create a CD that contains the files from iTunes, in the format in which they exist in the library, you should use the MP3 CD or Data CD selection from the iTunes Burn Settings dialog.

  • This relates to an earlier question I asked:  I have an iPhone and can send messages to a galaxy phone but the person cannot receive them; however, I can send them and it sounds like they are sent, but are not received.  I can get them from a galaxy.

This relates to an earlier question I asked:  I have an iPhone and can send messages to a galaxy, but the person cannot receive them; however, I can receive messages from the galaxy.  I have only had an iPhone so the problem does not relate to a change in phones.  Up until about 1month ago I could send to the galaxy and they could be read.  Help!

I fully believe it to be against the law and let them know in no uncertain terms, via phone and facebook. I've filed with the FTC. I have screen shots of the multiple offers I got about this and it clearly says 'upgrade early' and 'free'. I am very disappointed with the service I received pertaining to this issue. We've been customers since Alltell and this is ridiculous.

  • My earlier question re Firefox

I have not used this site before and its late in New Zealand.... i don't know the correct way to add to my earlier question about no admin rights to update F Fox.  I have had a look at other replies on the site and found the reason, it is because "allow user to administrate this computer" is dimmed and disabled. Nothing i do can enable it. I am able to undo the lock and i click on my account but nothing activates the key i need to be able to administer this computer so this is actually my question.. how do i overcome this important problem?

Back again, on the Leopard this time and has been interesting dvelopments. Things seem sorted for now at least. I had downloaded the update to FF before but went through all that "haven't got the rights" stuff, i fiddled around with access rights, gave up, turned off, next morning found i now had ability to do update. I don't know what fixed it. Then didn't use computer, tired of the problems, then yesterday it flashed up that an update was waiting so i tried to download and ran into repeat of the no rights issue.
Strangely it seemed there was sometimes 2 Firefoxes, one would open with home page but other kept opening with Mozilla telling me i was running 3.6.28 and would never open with home page.Sometimes there were 2 icons, sometimes one.
The file Info told me i had 3.6.28 but About Firefox told me i had version 3.6.24.
This morning there was a question mark in the dock which said Firefox when put cursor on it, i had trashed a Firefox icon last night.   Anyway i recalled the trashed one back again and started to look at both and trashed the question mark, clicked on the remaining FF icon and it opened with my home page and all details show i have the updated version.   So i don't know. The test will be when i empty trash and see if it will dump one FF but leave the other one.
Your answers were extremely helpful as to teaching me things so i will have them printed for future reference.
On a different point it took nearly 10 minutes from clicking the link in the email to get signed in to Apple and to be able to write a reply to you, this can't be right? The 10.4 machine ( all eMacs PowerPC) does it much more quickly and yet it is slowish.
The previous owner has installed Microsoft Messenger, Entourage, Power Point, Excel amd MS Word for me, the only other addition is iPhoto which i wanted. Has the computer got too much on it? And which would be the best MS programmes to keep. I don't use them but would like a programme that can open documents that the Mac can't.
Thank you for everything and especially for your patience.

  • Want to upgrade early

Millionth time asked I suppose but here's my go at this.
I finally decided to go from a tracphone to a smart phone and was awed by the ally after spending a couple years with a bare bones flip phone.  However I have had it for a few months now and I am very unhappy with it and being stuck with it for another year makes me want to shoot myself.  No flash, small screen, low memory and slow.  There has to be some exceptions to the rules?  Why would a company want you to be miserable for over a year and then expect you to stay with them when the contract is up?
So, if it wasn't clear are there any ways to upgrade early with out paying full retail?  Also, how does it work if I bought a phone, let's say off ebay can I just go into my local verizon and have it activated?
    Thanks,
    Bob

I did not mean to imply I needed a new phone whenever I wanted.  All I meant is that I am a new costumer and this is my first time with a smart phone and it turned out to be junk and now I'm stuck with a junk phone paying over $100 bucks a month.  I am just asking for a one time upgrade to have the payment be worth it.  I was not contradicting myself.  What I was saying is that I am stuck with verizon the COMPANY for 2 years but would like a different phone.  Since I am unhappy with my phone and I get no help to make me happy, which is what companies should do IMO, why should I renew after the 2 years?  AGAIN I only want a one time upgrade to a phone that will make me happy for the term of the contract.  I apologize to those offened but I know I'm not the only one who feels this way.  Also, try not to nit pic every word someone says in a forum as things don't always come across as they are meant.
    Bob
What I do not understand is, you stated the screen is small, it is slow, it does not have a flash as reasons you should be able to upgrade..... Did you not notice this in the first 30 days you had the device?? It is NOW an issue????
We seem cold hearted in our responses as we see this all the time. Around the time the iPhone came out, you would be amazed at the excuses people had on here for why their phone stunk and they deserved a new one.
They all basically were looking for a way to circumvent the contract to get what THEY wanted at a discount.
Yet back when they got that last new shiny device, it was like finding that one babe or hunk that they KNEW was the love of their life, so they rush off and do things on an impulse. Then the bloom falls off, he's a slob, she does not dress or act like that hot thang ya saw at the club any longer So Now they want a divorce and not have to pay the costs associated with getting one.

  • Upgrade price question

I don't qualify for the 199/299 price because I upgraded on 12/27/09. So how much would I have to pay to upgrade early anyways?
" You can take advantage of our no commitment pricing at a participating retail sales location. You may qualify for a full discount on a standard iPhone upgrade on 05/28/2011 You can take advantage of our full retail pricing for an iPhone at participating retail sales locations. Additional discounts may be available on 05/28/2011. More Details: Equipment discounts are available from time to time based on a number of factors: service tenure, spending levels, payment history, usage practices, and other factors."
I don't have to pay the no commitment price do I? -_-
What If I upgrade early anyways an extend the 2 yr contract. How much will I pay?

How much did you pay for your existing iPhone?
The fully subsidized or discounted price I'm sure. You do realize the price you paid was $400 less than the full retail sales price for the iPhone?
Apple recieves the same amount of money per new iPhone sale regardless, so it is AT&T paying Apple the difference on your behalf and you haven't paid off your debt for the amount AT&T paid Apple for your existing iPhone.
How much more over the fully subsidized or discounted price would you be willing to pay?
You may qualify for AT&T's early upgrade price, which is $200 more than the fully subsidized or discounted price.
If so and that price is not acceptable, stick with what you've got, or look into selling your existing iPhone to someone else and use the proceeds to pay whatever you have to pay for the iPhone 4 if you want one.

  • Should Never Have Upgraded Early w/Edge!

After several years with Verizon, I am so disappointed in the Edge program (my mistake for even doing it) that I am considering returning the Edge upgrade and cancelling that line.  I know there will be a cancellation fee, but all things considered it might very well be worth it.  Just to be clear, cancelling one a line on the account does NOT impact mydditional lines correct? I need those lines in place until the end of their contracts so that I can cancel/migrate those to another carrier as well. So disappointed. I've had a really good experience up until this point.

    niaustin wrote:
I upgraded early because of a broken screen. With my contract ending in February, I didn't see the point in paying for a refurbished phone that was outdated anyway (I upgraded from the Galaxy 3 to the 5). However, Edge requires that I return the phone updated from in good working condition with damages or pay a $200 fee, I am now paying the cost of the new phone and an additional $200...not part of my plan. It just seems better to return the new phone, migrate the number to a new carrier, get the S5 (or a comparable new phone) for little or nothing.
First of all it sates right there in the early edge up program the phone must be in good working condition. If you knew your phone was not in good working condition why did you do it? Also unless you're within your 14 day return window you can not just return the edge phone. You must pay off the entire amount of the phone. After that you can do whatever you want with the phone.

  • IPhoto '08 to iPhoto '11 Upgrade PROBLEM & Questions

Despite all the negative reviews at the App Store about iPhoto '11, I decided upgrade from iPhoto '08 so I could conveniently upload photos to FaceBook from iPhoto. (The FaceBook Uploader for iPhoto never worked for me.) I thought the ratio of negative reviews were unbalanced because people who are satisfied with the product have less motivation to write a review. Maybe I was wrong.
    My problem:
I only bought iPhoto '11, not the iLife package, from the App Store. When I first opened iPhoto '11, I was warned that my library would no longer be readable by earlier iPhoto versions. No problem, I expected that. As I had somewhat over 15,000 photos in my iPhoto '08 Library, I was also notified that that it would take an hour or longer to rewrite the library. No problem, I expected that too. iPhoto first read my old library, then started rewriting. When the rewriting progress bar was just past halfway, iPhoto '11 suddenly quit and sent an "iPhoto Problem Report" to Apple. This has happened about 5 times now, both before and after restarting my computer. It might seem related to free disk space, but I just put in a new 750Gb hard drive with over 400Gb free. All my other specs also meet or exceed iLife's requirements.
    My Questions:
    1. Can anyone suggest what they think the problem is and how to proceed? I couldn't find a similar problem in the Apple Support Community.
    2. If I can't upgrade, how do I go back to iPhoto '08? I backed up everything to an external drive using Time Machine before trying to upgrade. I know there's a iPhoto Library file in Pictures but there's also another file somewhere that contains the data for titles, events, comments and edits. How do I find it and how do I restore them to my MacBook?
    3. Can I get my $14.95 back from Apple? I don't see a way to talk to Apple without costing me more than the $14.95
Any help will be GREATLY APPRECIATED!

What's happening is that some file (or files) in the Library are damaged in some wy and that's tripping up the upgrade. This file (or files) may not necessarily be photos but could be one of the background database files. Unfortunately there's not any real way of knowing.
Any time you upgrade or update an app or the OS you run the risk of exposing a problem that has bee hidden heretofore. That's why you make back ups.
Possible solution: Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
Reverting means restoring your Librry from Time Machine and re-installing 08. It's not a big thing to do.
Contact App Store support about a refund. There's an email link on the right hand side of the app store window.

  • Upgrade/ contract question

Hi, i am on a family share plan with 5 people. I am neither of the 2 primary cell phones. I would like to move from verizon to at & t because of the iphone. My question is i am eligible for an upgrade in february but my contract is over in june. So when can i switch to at & t without being charged for an early termination fee.  I have a blackberry and understand the early termination fee is $350 minus $10 for every month completed.  If i have to wait until june then i will pay the termination fee.  But i also have an LG Dare (which is a feature phone) so can i switch from my blackberry to the dare because the termination fee for feature phones is $175 minus $5 for every month completed.  And once my dare is reactivated, can i cancel my plan and be billed for the feature phone early termination fee?

    dukebdx4 wrote:
ok just to make sure, if i end my contract right now, currently using a blackberry, i will be paying the ETF for a feature phone because that was the phone i bought at the beginning of my contract?
You are exactly right. It will be based on the Dare.

  • Upgrade fee question

    <<Branched from an older discussion>>
I'm wondering if the $30 UPGRADE fee we were charged recently was an automatic fee charged to all Verizon customers when buying a new phone on an existing plan?
We've had four phones through our Verizon plan as well as internet and a number of other services for over 10 years, so I assumed we were regular customers who would be treated as such when I bought my phone - the Motor Droid 4G - a couple days ago.
I checked on this site and saw I could get the phone for $100 (I've had an upgrade available since March) and chatted online with a rep here. (I have the name written down.) I then went in to our local store and the first rep said the online price is the same as what they can do in the store, although he'd quoted $139 (after rebate) for the same phone - this rep told me "I will be here until 8pm". He also told me the only difference in buying online is that you can get the rebate immediately, but we had to call and ask about getting the phone for the price I saw online. My husband called him to ask then confirm we could get the phone for $100 (after the rebate.)This was originally my husband's upgrade, not mine, which is why he was so involved. ( We did want to be on the same page but we weren't trying to put up a double force with the two of us calling and going in.)
When we went to the store it was about 730pm and though the guy was gone, my husband called to make sure they had the phone in the store and another rep said they did and he would sell it to us for that price. Both my husband and I confirmed several times that we wanted to keep our existing plan and did not want a new phone to change the plan. This was all agreed but by the time we got there and the guy did the paperwork, he was very ready to go home! He also made me feel like we were being cheap by asking all the questions. I said something about coming in earlier, how he probably remembered me because there were more employees than customers in the store at that time, etc. and he emphatically said, "I DO NOT REMEMBER YOU!" while shaking his head, making me feel like a very forgettable nuisance. I remembered then he was speaking with a blond woman who appeared to be a visiting supervisor. He did remember that person he said. Then, at the last minute he said there is a $30 UPGRADE fee. I had to look this up now, after the ordeal of buying a phone made me feel like they wanted to make up whatever they could from us (as the guy was watching a football game on the big screen while switching the data on my phone.) I didn't care about him watching TV until I got my old phone to my daughter (an hour and a half drive) and we found my sim card is missing! I know it's probably a simple mistake and hopefully he has it in the store, but I honestly hate to call there! I guess we either need to change stores or shop online from now on - or take care of this sort of thing before it becomes something that needs to be done within 24 hours. The real problem I have now is trying to get my sim card back... Though I still have a question:
My purpose for writing here really was to confirm the fact everyone is charged a $30 UPGRADE fee when buying a phone which is eligible for an upgrade. Considering all these details, was this an automatic fee, or was it at the sales person's discretion as to whether or not to charge this fee?
I also see something odd on the statement/paperwork given to us which I didn't look at until just now. Under comments, the rep wrote: "Discount: Sim Card for New Act/Upgrade."      The sales person didn't say anything about this to us - When he was doing the paperwork he seemed to be waiting for something. I told him we were sorry to keep him after 8pm and he said "oh, it's ready now. Whenever you guys are..."

Thank you for your reply. I'm glad to know we aren't the only ones who feel that way about the store and the sales people inside. I like to speak to a person face-to-face, but like anyone else, I don't want to be lied to or put down every time I ask a question! I understand the people at the stores are paid on commission, but it's too bad they feel they need to mislead or manipulate people in order to make a sale - either that or treat the customer like they're some kind of cheapskate (when we're paying a minimum of $230 a month to Verizon with our existing plan and services!) I guess we aren't the sales person's customer as much as we're Verizon customers in this case.
It really would have been a better  experience if I'd found the phone we knew we wanted, asked about the $30 fee, then just ordered the phone online so I didn't have to mess with the rebate. (And, you are so much more - polite - is the only word I can think of right now, than the forum person known as Tikibar1 who responded to me within minutes of my post which is why I thought he/she was working for Verizon. When that person made comments to me like, "I know. You're special..." I'd decided I wasn't ever going to go back on that forum again. I don't do well with sarcastic strangers!
My daughter now has my old phone which was an LG Ally (I think, I've had it for awhile now...). She had a Droid; the one which would be one model behind my new phone. (I admit, I'm not up on the techie phone stuff.) Although we've been meaning to get a new phone for a long time, it just happened that she dropped her phone and we aren't sure if we can get it working again. Because I was concerned about her safety, I bought my new phone Tuesday, we met her Tuesday night, switched phones and then discovered my sim card missing. I understand now that it is in my new phone, but it sounds like the people at the store should just give us one, according to what's been said on the forums.
One thing I can't see (and think may be gone) are my old texts. She cleared my old phone and I don't see them on my new phone. I had some addresses, etc., in the content of the texts but nothing I can't get again.
I'm trying to learn this new phone now and I think I like it, but when I tried to set something up (I think it was the My Verizon .. app?) I got the message saying the sim card was needed, which I know sounds odd so I'm going to read more about this today. I don't mind going back and asking for a sim card now that I know it isn't a big deal.
    Thanks again!
