Upgrade from Adobe Acrobat 6 to 9

Hi,
I have Adobe Acrobat 6 and my question: Am I eligible to buy the upgrade version of Adobe Acrobat 9?
Thanks!

The only upgrade available is AA X and I do not think that AA6 qualifies for an upgrade. So at this point you would have to purchase AA X, the only version that Adobe is currently selling. You can go the the online store at Adobe.com and check the upgrade requirements yourself.

    Hi Christian ,
I am not sure if you are eligible to upgrade from Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro for Windows to Adobe Acrobat IX Pro for Mac as this is an older version of Acrobat.

  • Can I upgrade from Adobe Acrobat 6.0 Standard (on an older PC) to 6 or newer on a new HP Pavilion23?

Can I upgrade from Adobe Acrobat 6.0 Standard (on an older PC) to 6 or newer on a new HP Pavilion 23?

You may be able to do some work arounds with AA6 on 32-bit systems. You are probably out of luck with AA6 on 64-bit systems. (I got AA5 working with some workarounds on Win7, 32-bit) As for the upgrade, you can check at the Adobe store for the upgrade compatibilities. I think it is now at AA9, maybe AA8 for an upgrade. So, you are kind of stuck with buying a new version (no upgrade).

Yes, the earliest version from which you can upgrade to X is 7.

  • How can I upgrade from Adobe Acrobat v4.0?

After reinstalling all the software on my pc I found a problem with Adobe Acrobat which had worked perfectly well for years. When i open Outlook, I now get a message: "Microsoft Word has detected that your computer has a version of Adobe Acrobat PDFMaker which is known to cause instabilities in Word 2002. To resolve this issue download an update from Adobe's website."
The original version I had installed was v4.0 and the updates had all installed fine. But now, when I try to intal updates it doesn't work - it can't find versions of other updates like 4.05!
Does anyone know how to fix this?
    Thanks
    GG

Did you upgrade your system to Windows XP? If so, Acrobat 4 (or 4.05) doesn''t support XP. Version 4.05 was the first version to support Office 2000 but support for Word 2002 (Word XP) wasn't introduced until later.
Upgrades (to version 9) are available from the following versions of Acrobat:

  • "Upgrading" from Adobe Acrobat for Windows to Adobe Acrobat for OS X (Mac)

I own Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Standard but no longer use it because I purchased a Mac. Can I "upgrade" to a Mac version of Adobe Acrobe Acrobat?

No upgrades from Acrobat 7 are available for anyone - they finished long ago, unfortunately. Only Acrobat 9 upwards are eligible.
You would simply need to purchase Acrobat XI (11) Pro for Mac.
(Note if anyone happens to have a recent version of Acrobat Standard and wants to upgrade to Acrobat Pro for Mac, this is called a "crossgrade" and only available by directly talking to Adobe customer service).

  • When upgrading from Abobe Acrobat Pro 9 to XI, is it possible to save Headers and Footers in documents?

I support a law firm that users headers and footers in their documents.  They are upgrading from Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 to XI.  when they did an install on one PC, the headers and footers in a PDF did not show and had to be recreated.  Is there a way around that?  I's appreciate any input.
    Thanks!
    Ed

This is a work around. Bring the pdf into Illustrator. Go to Select >Object>Text.  In the attributes panel, deselect Overprint. In the Transparency panel, select Knockout Group. In the Appearance panel, check to make sure the black is not overprinting by clicking on the Character entry. If not, try clicking "Clear Appearance" (here I got a little lost.
Resave the pdf file. Your black text should now knock out. You may have to retrap, unless your RIP does that for you.
Hope this helps. (I had to keep trying to get it to work, but I finally did.

  • Printer hangs from Adobe Acrobat Pro 10.1.2

    Windows 7 x64
HP Color Laserjet 5550 PCL 5 over TCP/IP Port
Printer hangs for a very long time and then generates an error, but no record of it in Printer event log.  The spooling size of the PDF is also incredibly large compared to the actual size of the document.  This problem has just emerged after the upgrade from Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.
    Help!

Have you checked to see if this might be related to duplex being automatically selected in the printing dialog in version 10.1.2? To turn it off try the following:
Open the PDF you want to print.
Click the Print icon to open the Print dialog box.
Click Size, and then deselect Print On Both Sides Of Paper.
It's a known issue with the 10.1.2 update.

  • Cannot e-mail from Adobe Acrobat 7 since upgrading to Office 2013

I was emailing from Adobe Acrobat 7 just fine until I upgraded to Office 2013. Now I get an error saying I need to set up a Microsoft Outlook profile in Windows and then it will not let me email.  This only seems to be happening to my users who have Adobe Acrobat 7. The newer versions work fine.  Anybody got any ideas? The only thing I did was go to Start, Default Programs, Set Default Programs, and chose Outlook to set as default. Thanks.

Not sure PDF Maker has anything to do with the problem. It is an issue of AA7 being able to properly communicate with an e-mail client. AA7 uses MAPI to do the communications and it may be that the new Outlook is not using MAPI properly or is using a newer version of MAPI that AA7 fails to communicate with. I know this is not a solution, but may give you some insight into what to look for.

  • Upgrade a license from Adobe Acrobat Standard XI to Adobe Acrobat Professional XI?

Can i upgrade a license from Adobe Acrobat Standard XI to Adobe Acrobat Professional XI?  and pay only the difference, or i have to buy a full license?

As I remember some of the posts long ago, I am not sure the possibility for upgrade is too good. At one point as I recall you essentially had to pay the upgrade cost. All of this is from a not too good memory and I agree that the only way to find out for sure is to call Adobe. It would be useful for us if you reported back on what you find out.

  • Does a volume license for Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard entitle me to make an upgrade to Adobe Acrobat VI Standard?

Does a volume license for Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard entitle me to make an upgrade to Adobe Acrobat VI Standard?

It's XI not VI (roman numerals for eleven).
Probably not. It does depend to an extent on the volume licensing program that is in use. Some programs include update rights - that doesn't mean you can buy an upgrade, it means the program manager can get upgrades.
If you are one of those people who have a volume license "cut off" from your program manager e.g. after leaving a company, I think that is the end of the line.

  • Migrating settings from Adobe Acrobat X to Adobe Acrobat XI

    Hi,
Due to the deployment of Office 365 I need to upgrade 300+ people from Adobe Acrobat X to Adobe Acrobat XI.
Most of these users sign documents using digital signatures and therefore have a Digital ID and one or more custom Signature Appearances.
After upgrading to Adobe Acrobat XI, the Digital ID and Signature Appearances settings aren't migrated from Adobe Acrobat X.
Does anyone know whether it is possible to migrate the setting during the installation, or programmably after the installation completes?
    Thanks,
    Anne.

    Hi Sukrit,
Thanks for taking the time to provide some advice, it is much appreciated.
Unfortunately the link you provided doesn't explain how to export/import the security settings during the installation of a new version of Adobe or programmably after the installation completes.
    Regards,
    Anne

  • Blocked upgrading to Adobe Acrobat Pro XI. What do I do?

I have downloaded Framemaker 12, which Blocked upgrading to Adobe Acrobat Pro XI from ProX. What do I do now? Does Adobe provide technical support for product installs?

Framemaker's ReadMe usually has this documented, but I haven't looked at Frame in a Dog's Age. Acrobat has the Adobe PDF Printer and FrameMaker has the Adobe PDF Add-on available as a separate installtion with it's own MSI file that can be installed at the same time as Framemaker if you want to do it.  BUT if you are going to install both FrameMaker and Acrobat on the same machine, THEN you are supposed to chose which PDF creation tool you want to use BEFORE you install both.  The Framemaker installer used to tell you that before you installed the Adobe PDF Add-on.
My suggestion would be to Uninstall the Adobe PDF Add-on via Add/Remove Control Panel and then install Adobe Acrobat XI.
