Upgrade from Phenom II X4 to FX8350 or 8320 - some questions.

I'm going to upgrade my current Phenom II X4 965 to FX 8350 or 8320 and have a question - will these CPU's work on my mobo? I'm not going to overclock them. My current configuration is:
CPU - Phenom 2 X4 965 3.4Ghz (125W) overclocked to 3.9Ghz
CPU cooler - Xigmatek Gaia SD1283 (http://www.xigmatek.com/product.php?productid=104)
RAM - 8Gb DDR3 Hyunix
M/b - MSI 970A-G46
Video - HIS Radeon HD 7850 2Gb IceQ X
PSU - Sirtech High Power HP-550-A12S 550W
HDD - 320Gb Hitachi + 500Gb Western Digital
Case is http://www.yang-it.de/5601.htm but I'm going to change it to http://www.zalman.com/global/product/Product_Read.php?Idx=621 with more fans.
Why do I have this question - I've read a lot about that FX8350/8320 don't work good on this mobo because bad VRM and 4+1 power supply and want to know - is it worth spending money on the new CPU or not? I saw that 8320 is in the list of supported CPU's (and about a month ago saw 8350), but still not sure. The question is very important to me because I have a limited budget that allows me to buy only one of these CPU's and a new case. Are there real owners of similar configurations that could give me an advice?

I have used the type 2 heat sink on a Gigabyte board and it made at 5C difference.  But the cooler on your MSI board is much larger than that one so the type 2 will not fit.  I have not looked up the specs on the type 4 but it would need to be much longer than the type 2 to fit.
According to this, do not use this motherboard with 8 core cpus.  http://www.overclock.net/t/946407/amd-motherboards-vrm-info-database
that's all. dead end. damn MSI! I'm very disappointed with this mobo! why do they state that it will work with FX 83xx CPU's? about a month ago I saw 8350 in CPU support list.

  • Purch. & installed upgrade from iLife 2 to iLife 08, but I have questions..

    Hi ~
_Purchased & installed upgrade from iLife 2 to iLife 08, but I have questions..._
First I made sure I backed up my 5,500 photos in iPhoto to an external hard drive. (The only downfall to this backing-up process is that I haven't found an easy way to back-up the comments attached to each photo. Any advice on this? Part of the "horror" to losing one's photos is also losing the comments added to them over the years.)
Back to the install... I installed iLife 08 and it installed correctly. I checked to see what version of the applications I have in the dock on my desktop - I figured it would just import existing data (photos, tunes, etc.) into the newer version and replace it in the dock - +it only did this for iDVD+, of course it wasn't that easy for the others.
I can't find the newer version of iPhoto. My iPhoto in the dock still says version 2. iTunes in my dock is version 7 (7.4.2). iMovie is version 3 (3.0.3). But the new Garageband is there in the dock. And of course, iDVD is the newer version '08.
I am most concerned with iPhoto and making sure all the photos AND their comments import correctly into the newer iPhoto 08. I am nervous about this so I want to make sure I do the process correctly.
I also want to make sure my iTunes information imports correctly to the newer version as well.
    Thank you.
    Sincerely,
    Kathy

If you backed up the iPhoto Library Folder then you got everything - photos, albums, comments etc

The Dock is not important. Look in your Applications Folder for iPhoto 08. That's where it should be. The Dock is just a shortcut to that. What version is in your Apps folder?
To upgrade a Library from v2 to iPhoto 08 all you do is open the Library with the newer version.

here is an interesting thing: take the iphone and set lock screen to never. Now make an email with siri--be sure to activate her with call button. get to the body and get some text in there. then just stop talking. LOCK SCREEN APPEARS!!!!!! and of course you draft is gone.
There does seem to be a work around for some--maybe all these issues. Don't use the call button--use the buttons on the phone.
Siri seems to behave properly with scenerio above---sans call button. She does not go to lock.

  • Post Upgrade from 4.x to 5.0 to 5.1 questions

All, I have upgraded my first sensor 4.x to 5.0 to 5.1. Here is my process
    1) Upgraded from 4.x to 5.0 using FTP with this file IPS-K9-maj-5.0-1c-S149.rpm.pkg
    2) Installed License Key
    3) Using VMS, I went from 5.0 to 5.1 using file IPS-K9-min-5.1-1.zip
    4) Now, my switchport is down, down monitoring.
    Am I missing a patch?
    Did I upgrade properly?
Why is it down down monitoring and not up down monitoring on the switchport that my sensing port connects to in the switch.

You may be hitting a common issue with 5.1.1 where the senorApp process becomes unresponsive. You should not stay at 5.1.1 - you need to upgrade to 5.1.3. If you are seeing this issue then:
    1) disable the sniffing interfaces
    2) reboot the sensor
    3) upgrade to 5.1.3
    4) enable the sniffing interfaces

  • Upgrade from 11.5.10.2 to R12.1.3 questions

    Hi,
I want to upgrade my EBS from 11.5.10.2 to 12.1.3 (keeping DB same , i.e., 11.1.0.7). I have MT services running on 5 nodes. All 5 nodes have all the services enabled.
    My doubt is :
While applying the upgrade patches, Do I have to execute the patches on all the nodes ?
If yes, Do I have to run them sequentially (one node after another) OR can I run them parallely (simulteneously on all nodes )?
Do I have to use any special options like 'nodatabaseportion' etc ?
    regards,

I am follwoing the note : Interoperability Notes EBS R12 with Database 11gR2[ 1058763.1].
1- Step 2: Apply patch 6400501 to the IAS 10.1.2. Do I really need to apply this patch ?( I am not sure how I can check whether this has already applied or not)
As mentioned in the doc, if you are on Linux/Unix then you need to apply this patch.
To verify if the patch is applied or not, it depends on what ORACLE_HOME you are referring to. Please see (How to apply Patch 6400501 to a Release 12 APPS-Tier ORACLE_HOME ? [ID 799907.1]). Since this patch can be applied on the database tier node or on the application tier node, you need to source the correct env file and issue "opatch lsinventory" command.
2- Step 6: Install Oracle database 11g Products from the 11g Example CDs. Do I need to do this step and please ket me know whre I can get this CD ( I have 2 files : p10404530_112030_LINUX_1of7.zip and p10404530_112030_LINUX_2of7.zip)
Do I need to download anything extra here to fullfil the step.Yes, it is mandatory and you need to download all files.
    3- Step 8: Apply additional 11.2.0.3 RDBMS pathes :
Before applying this additional patches, I hv to upgrade the database to 11.2.0.3. Please correct me if I am wrong.
As per the note, step 13 is to upgrade database to 11.2.0.3. I got confused here, It means, Do I need to apply additional patches on 10.2.0.5 database then upgrade to 11.2.0.3Before the upgrade. As mentioned under the same step "Do not run any of the post install instructions as those will be done after the upgrade.".
    Thanks,
    Hussein

  • Just upgraded from '08 to '09, and it's messed some things up...

    Hi people.
I've just upgraded to iLife '09 from '08, and it seems that some of my webpages have been messed up. Basically, I used to use Filezilla to upload my website, but I thought i'd give iWebs built in FTP a go.
Have a look at the screenshots here in the links:
This is how my 'Welcome' page looks in iWeb:
    http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v520/DanThe440Man/Apple%20Stuff/?action=view&c urrent=InProgram.jpg
This is how it looks when you get online:
    http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v520/DanThe440Man/Apple%20Stuff/?action=view&c urrent=published.jpg
Whats happened?? As you can see, the type below the image is all mis-sized! But it's happened to a few other pages on the site too where letters are dropping to second lines etc. I'm not best pleased at the moment!
Also, whats the deal here with the file/folder colours? Some are red, some are blue: whats that all about?
    http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v520/DanThe440Man/Apple%20Stuff/?action=view&c urrent=MulticolouredFiles.jpg
I'm not very impressed with iWeb '09 at the moment, so lets hope that these are simple fixes! Anybody have any idea whats going on??
    Dan

Well, I've deleted the .plist file in the preferences, and the .plist file in the cache, but i've still not seen any difference at all.
    Anybody have any ideas?

  • Upgraded Satellite P750/05F to Win 8.1 Pro - some questions

I just upgraded my P750/05F to windows 8.1 pro with a CLEAN install of win 8.1 pro
I downloaded and used only the windows 8.1 drivers listed for the P750 via the toshiba website.
I still had a few problems but i think i have resolved them
ie.: No Win 8 drivers worked for ENE IR device, so i used win 7 64 bit
Atheros windows 8driver caused problem so i got latest from Atheros website
There are no windows 8 drivers for the trackpad on the toshiba site, and the windows 8 drivers from Synaptic wont install at all, so i used windows 7 64 drivers.
So far the machine seems stable with this.
Im very annoyed Toshiba did not supply a package of windows 8 drivers for full install.
    Anyway my outstanding questions are
    1. is there a windows 8 driver for the TV tuner ??? or do i use the windows 7 driver ???
    2. My FN keys work, but i dont have any onscreen feedback for windows 8 when i use the FN F8 keys to enable or disable the wireless. With windows 7 there was icons that would pop up. Is there a software for this ??
    thanks for any help.

Toshiba provided a Windows 8 system lookup.
There you can check whether your system can be updated to Windows 8.1
    http://support.toshiba-tie.co.jp/windows81/list_au.htm
In case your notebook series isnt listed there, the notebook series isnt supported for Win 8.1.
This would mean that Win 8.1 drivers would not be available too. :(
It really good news that your machine runs stable even using Win 7 drivers.
Regarding the FN key onscreen feedback:
This part is controlled by Toshiba Function Key Utility for Win 8.1
This tool has been released for many other newer notebook series and therefore I would recommend you to install such software released for other series.

  • Issues during technical upgrade from 4.6c to ecc 6.0

    Hi
We are doing a technical upgrade from 4.6C to ECC 6.0. Some transactions in QM module when tested in ECC 6.0 test client give a abap termination message (or dump) and certain transactions like qs42,46, qa18, qs34 etc do not get executed (error = no entry foound for......) and similarly in PP-PI module transactions like C203 have similar problems, even though master data does exist. What should I look for?  Can somebody pl. give details on configuration checks and the OSS notes from a functional point of view for a technical upgrade?
For certain transactions I get the error message - "Central system of distribution SM-P06CLNT430_TRUSTED is unreachable RFC destination SM_P06CLNT430_Trusted does not exist" - what does this mean?
    thanks
    BE

    Hi,
    1. Have you done successfull installation from 4.6C to ECC 6.0 at the time of PrePare ans SAPUP?
    2. Check SP' for QM and PP-PI modules from http://service.sap.com/sp-stacks.
    3. Configure RFC connections correctly, SM_<SID>CLNT<No>_Trusted automatically created, not manually.
http://service.sap.com/notes --> search for RFC trusted connections for Ecc 6.0

  • SAP Upgrade from ECC 5.0 to ECC 6

    Hello All,
We are planning for an upgrade from ECC 5 to ECC 6. As some obsolete statements like "Use of header line" is no more supported in ECC 6, do we need to manually change in all custom programs and FMs? Or is there available a tool to do so? or will SAP as part of the upgrade do the necessary. Because this is a huge effort
Thanks in advance for your response
    Anirban

    Hi,
It has to be manually done for each and every program.
Probably your company can check if there are any third party vendor tools that does the conversion, but anyways someone has to manually check the programs and test all of them.

  • Upgrading from CS2 to CS4

I've upgraded from CS2 to CS4 on my WindowsXP, and my question is, can i now safely remove CS2 from my program roster without impacting any of my CS4 applications?

If you're low on disk space, uninstalling CS2 will accomplish NOTHING. If you've reached this point, you need a new harrdrive.
Working with a system drive with under 20% free space is a disaster waiting to happen.

  • I need rosetta and don't want iCloud on my MacPro. Why should I consider upgrading from Snow Leopard to Mavericks?

I understand that the newest OS X is Mavericks. I have refused to upgrade from Snow Leopard because I need Rosetta for some older applications I still use. In addition, I absolutely refuse to use iCloud (or anyother cloud service that uses servers resident in the USA). Can anyone give me a good reason to upgrade to Mavericks?

Your other option is to run a virtual machine using Snow Leopard server.
    Parallels
    VirtualBox
    VM Fusion
Snow Leopard server for use with the above. Call 1-800-692-7753 and order part number MC588Z/A. Cost is $19.99 + sales tax and shipping.

  • Photobooks during iPhoto upgrade from '09 to '11

    Hi,
I recently bought iLife'11 to upgrade from version '09. However, I still have some photobooks in iPhoto that are not yet finished or ordered. I heard some people having trouble with their photobooks (unable to load photos for the books) after upgrading to iPhoto'11... is this a known issue? Is it advisable to postpone the upgrade to iLife'11 until i finished the books or should this not be a problem in most cases?
    Thanks for your help!
    Mark

Never upgrade any app in the middle of a project. Finish and order your books, then upgrade. Not before.

  • Upgrading from Tiger to Leopard on and external (FireWire) drive...

    Hi all,
I'm pretty sure this has been discussed somewhere on the www but after several hours of research, I'm embarrassed to admit I'm ready to call it quits (unless someone more tech savvy than I can help <:o)
I've been running my OS on a WD 500GB FireWire for the past couple of years. Switched to it shortly after realizing that the 80GB HD on my MacBook was insufficient for my needs.
Now I'm getting ready to upgrade from Tiger to Leopard and I've got some issues. Most importantly, when I launch the installer and it requires me to restart my system, I do so through both methods (holding down the "option" key to start up using the external HD and also by just allowing a normal boot under the old drive). In neither situation do I ever get the option to select where I'd like to install the new OS. In fact, when I allow the normal start without the "option" key being pressed, I don't even get to see the option to begin an installation. When I hold down the "option" key, I get the Mac OS X Install DVD screen (directory on the DVD), but it never gets to the point where I can start the installation.
I'm at a loss and getting a little frustrated (which has been my problem since I started with Macs--been a long time PC user and I'm always looking for the difficult way of doing things--so I'm probably just being PC-stupid as usual >;o)
Any assistance with getting me on the path to continued righteousness would be greatly appreciated. Thanks very much in advance!
    Ali T. Borahan
    http://www.alisails.com
PS: Despite the fact that I'm PC-literate and Mac-stupid, I've managed to convince almost a dozen people to switch to Mac, simply because I'm hooked and love how the Mac community sticks together and helps one another (and also because I can't stand the Microsoft kingdom!!! <:o)

Insert the Leopard DVD in the optical drive and restart the computer. After the chime press and hold down the "C" key until the dark gray Apple logo appears on the screen. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button.
When the menubar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your startup drive's entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior (4.0 for Tiger, and 4.1 for Leopard) and/or TechTool Pro (4.6.1 for Leopard) to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
Continue with the installation process until you reach the point where you must select a Target drive. Select your Target drive then click on the Options button in the lower left corner of the dialog.
Select the Archive and Install option.
An Archive and Install will NOT erase your hard drive, but you must have sufficient free space for a second OS X installation which could be from 3-9 GBs depending upon the version of OS X and selected installation options. The free space requirement is over and above normal free space requirements which should be at least 6-10 GBs. Read all the linked references carefully before proceeding.
Your target drive must have repaired OK when you repaired it. Otherwise do not continue.
You have an option to preserve users and network preferences. Only select this option if you are sure you have no corrupted files in your user accounts. Otherwise leave this option unchecked. Click on the OK button and continue with the OS X Installation.
Upon completion of the Archive and Install you will have a Previous System Folder in the root directory. You should retain the PSF until you are sure you do not need to manually transfer any items from the PSF to your newly installed system.
After moving any items you want to keep from the PSF you should delete it. You can back it up if you prefer, but you must delete it from the hard drive.
You can now download a Combo Updater directly from Apple's download site to update your new system to the desired version as well as install any security or other updates. You can also do this using Software Update.
