Upgrade SAP for SAP CPS?

Hello,
we are currently running SAP 4.70. Is it necessary to upgrade your SAP environment to ECC 5.0 or ECC 6.0 to be able to use the SAP CPS environment, or is it directly useable in combination with SAP 4.70?
I'll award points for helpfull answers.
Regards,
Roy

Hi Roy,
SAP CPS supports all the versions of SAP starting from SAP 3.2, so no need to upgrade to ECC5 or ECC6.
If you are asking this question from SAP CPS licensing part and going ahead with the Basic free version, you need to have at least one SAP NetWeaver component in your SAP landscape.
If you are planning to go for full version licence, then it will do even if you do not have any NetWeaver component in your SAP landscape.
SAP CPS versions 6 & 7 (Also known as Redwood Cronacle version 6 & 7 and built by Redwood and supplied by SAP) can cater to even SAP 3.0 systems.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if you need some more information in this regard.
Best regards,
Vithal

  • Upgrade: Adapters for SAP NetWeaver PI 1.1

    Hello!
By the upgrade to SAP NetWeaver PI 7.3 we get (within Solution Manager Maintenance Optimizer) a addon  Adapters for SAP NetWeaver PI 1.1.
    Question
Do we need this addon when we go to SAP NetWeaver PI 7.3 or can we install this after the upgrade with SAINT?
    thank you!

    Many thanks!
I also have been asked (within Solution Manager Maintenance Optimizer) to update following contents:
EHP Component XI CONTENT ESM ERP 604
EHP Component XI CONTENT IS-H_IC 604
EHP Component XI CONTENT IS-H 604
Makes it sence to update with the upgrade process or can it wait?
    Thank you!

  • Upgrade strategy for SAP ECC 6.0 SPS 12 to EHP4

    Hi!
I would like to update a SAP ECC 6.0 system with EHP4.
I am on Windows 64 Bit with Oracle.
My current SP stack of SAP ECC 6.0 is 12.
What is the best timesaving approach to update SAP ECC 6.0 SPS 12 to EHP4?
    a) to patch manually with SPAM/SAINT til SAP ECC 6.0 highest SPS (18?) and run SAP EHP Installer to upgrade to EHP4
    b) to run SAP EHP Installer that updates SAP ECC 6.0 with highest SPS and upgrade the system to EHP4
Any helpful information will be very appreciated!
    Thank you!

    Hi Holger,
It's better to start upgrade with EHPI tool only so that downtime will be minimized instead of first doing via SAINT to highest SPS and then EHPI tool.
Also, while starting upgrade with EHPI tool, make sure of below thing:
    1) Number of R3trans processes
    2) Memory parameter optimization
    Also. check SAP note 1143022

    Hello Deepak,

    Hi Amirsd,
You will need to use your Solution manager system to apply EHP 4 to your newly installed system.
Use MOPZ to generate XML file which contains the packages to be downloaded to upgrade your current system to EHP 4.0
After that download EHPI tool from SAP Marketplace and use EHPI tool to install downloaded packages.
It would run in 7 phases including downtime phase.
Let me know if you have any queries. !!!!

  • Consolidation for SAP BPC

    HI Gurus,
I have gone through the documentation provided by SAP  for  SAP BPC Admin document
which  just talks about the various business rules available for consolidation.
Can someone o explain in brief the sequence  steps that one needs to follow for consolidation? (e.g. First develop the dimensions - account, entity, etc., then application - finance, rate, ownership, then set up the consolidation rules, then methods, then automatic adjustment detail etc.)
Also it will be helpful if someone can actually describe the required properties in each dimension to perform consolidation?
(e.g. Account needs to have ElimAcc for Eliminations etc.)
    Regards

The sequance of steps are 1.Load the master data(Dimensions)
                                           2.create the Applications.
3.Load the Appset and Application Parameters.
4.Customizing the Logic(We have the existing logic in BPC-BI use that  Logic).

  • Recommended screen resolution for SAP CRM 2006s/5.2

    Hi All
Any idea that what is the recommended screen resolution by SAP for SAP CRM 2006s / .2 Web UI ?
    Thanks & Regards
    Vishal Mani

    Hello Vishal,
This is John Burton, the guy who created the note that Stephen referred to (SAP note 764974). I don't think you will get a general recommendation from SAP regarding screen resolution and/or browser size requirement for a number of reasons. (The following are just my thoughts and don't necessarily represent the official views of SAP or anyone else).
    1) Screen resolution is a somewhat personal choice varying by user and preference.
    2) Technology changes very frequently and large wide-screen high-resolution monitors are becomming increasingly available.
    3) The CRM WebClient supports a variety of different business roles and types of users; it is conceivable for example that an Interaction Center agent might be able to get by with a fairly small, low-resolution monitor while an analyst or supervisor might need two separate wide-screen high-resolution monitors in order to have various reports and other applications open at once.
    4) And of course, no company wants to play the "bad guy" and make end users angry by giving a recommendation for very low-end, small low-resolution VGA monitors, or risk upsetting CFOs by giving a recommendation for very expensive wide-screen high-resolution LCD monitors
I'm sorry that I couldn't give you a more "official" answer.
    Warm regards,
    John

  • Migration of "CRONACLE for SAP solutions" to "SAP CPS for Netweaver"

    Hi,
We have standalone  Cronacle/CPS 6.02.  We are in the process of researching about migrating to  "SAP CPS for Netweaver"  like SAP CPS M33. We have the following questions.
1)Is a migration path available to migrate from "CRONACLE for SAP solutions" to "SAP CPS for Netweaver" ?.
2)What are the benefits of going to "SAP CPS for Netweaver" ?.
3)Is the migration can be done by ourselves or any SAP migration consultant is required?.
    Please advise.
    Thanks.
    Raj.

    Hi Laurence, Raj,
This question is very old and I had not seen it before.
To upgrade from CPS 6.0.2 or 7.0.4 to 8.0.0 (aka M33). I do not know if SAP consultancy offers anything for this, you want to check with them. SAP might refer you to Redwood, though.
As for the differences, where do I start ... ;-)
Actually, CPS 8 is a major platform shift. Version 6 and 7 were PL/SQL-based solutions, version 8 is Java-based. You have many more possibilities built-in, such as better XBP 3.0 support, web services, SAP BusinessObjects, SAP PI/XI control, ... the list could go on forever.
Some older platforms (very, very old) are no longer supported, afaik, but you get native z/OS (mainframe) platform agents, AS/400 agents ... the user interface is platform independent, so you can access it from any OS including, but not limited to, Windows, Unix, Linux, and Mac OS X. There is even an iPhone/iPad client.
BTW, I do not know how long version 6 and 7 are supported.
The platform shift means that you might have to use a PL/SQL API in version 8. I guess it depends on how much PL/SQL you use. If most of your jobs are SAP and OS jobs, you would not even need that.

    Hi Nirav,
the maintenace cost will be the same as before.
the maintanance cost include the possibility

    Hi,
Its always better to drain the delta queues before an upgrade.
As a standard practice we drain the delta queues by running the IP/ chain multiple times.
As a prerequiste we cancel/reschedule the V3 jobs to a future date during this activity.
The V3 extraction delta queues must be emptied prior to the upgrade to avoid any possible data loss.
V3 collector jobs should be suspended for the duration of the upgrade.
They can be rescheduled after re-activation of the source systems upon completion of the upgrade.
See SAP Notes 506694 and 658992 for more details.
    Page 17
Load and Empty all Data mart Delta Queues in SAP BW. (e.g. for all export DataSources)
The SAP BW Service SAPI, which is used for internal and ‘BW to BW’ data mart extraction, is
upgraded during the SAP BW upgrade. Therefore, the delta queues must be emptied prior to the
upgrade to avoid any possibility of data loss.

  • SAP BW Upgrade from 7.0 to 7.3 For SAP BOBJ 4.0: Hardware

    Good afternoon
I could not find any usable information on the net and I do not know where to look for the following regarding hardware requirements.
We are planning to install SAP Business Objects 4.0 SP 02 and need to Upgrade our current SAP BW environment from 7.0 to 7.3.
I need to know what the hardware requirements (sizing) are for the SAP BW side please?

    Hi,
The EMC Solutions design center offers a free SAP storage sizing regardless of your current storage vendor.   It can be as easy as providing SAP Earlywatch reports.  See https://community.emc.com/docs/DOC-11310  If you are just looking for the incremental needs from the upgrade to the new release, that is more specific to SAP and your config.  Good Luck

  • Going live check for SAP upgrade projects

    Hello,

This service is included as part of your annual maintenance fee.
The underlying concept of the SAP GoingLive Functional Upgrade Check is
to ensure smooth operation of your mySAP.com solution by taking action
proactively, before severe technical problems occur.
The GoingLive Functional Upgrade Check is made up of three sessions
(Planning, Analysis and Verification)—two sessions (Planning and Analysis)
before the upgrade and the other (Verification) after the upgrade.
Planning Session: This session should be performed as much in advance as
possible when the upgrade is first being considered.
Analyses compatibility for the target release with regards to connected
systems in the Solution Landscape, OS version, DB version, installed Add-
Ons, Plug-ins, Country Versions, and so on.
Analysis Session: It is generally performed two months before the
production upgrade (consider lead time for hardware procurement).
The focus is on resource planning and system configuration.
There is a high-level hardware plausibility check (this is not a hardware
    sizing exercise).
      Potential resource bottlenecks are identified.
Necessary changes will be recommended to prepare the system for the
productive use of the new release.

Verification Session: Generally performed four to six weeks after the
production upgrade, and the recommendation from the analysis session
    implemented.

  • Cronacle for SAP Solutions vs. CPS

    Hi,
For my understanding, can you confirm that Cronacle for SAP Solutions v8.0 (distributed by redwood) and CPS (distributed by SAP) are exactly the same product? I was told that CPS was a cronacle with some SAP custom enhancement that were not available to customers purchasing cronacle directly from redwood.
    Regards, Regis

Cronalce and CPS are technically same products . Only difference is CPS can run over any netweaver instance whereas Cronalce is a system itself !

  • EREC : Upgrading browser compatibility for SAP E-Recruiting

    Hi
We are currently using E-Recruiting 603 Sp 2 (Netweaver 7), does anyone knows how to upgrade browser compatibility. Currently we are only supporting Internet Explorer and Firefox up to version 7.0 and 3.5 respectively. Does anyone how to upgrade the browser compatibility to includes the newer version of IE, Firefox, Chrome and Safari.
    Expert please help.
    Regards
    Ridzuan

    Hi Ridzuan,
We have exactly the same problem as we currently run eRecruitment on EHP3 (Netweaver 7.00).
With EHP3, SAP officially support IE and Firefox only. This doesn't help external job applicants who can be
applying using any web browser. In particular Mac users tend to use Safari as its the default browser. Its not at all
good customer service to have to tell job applicants to download and install Firefox just to be able to fill in a job application.
When we originally implemented, eRecruitment worked fine in Safari, but currently all the drop down lists, date pickers
and pop-up dialogs fail to render making it unusable. This is caused by a security restriction in WebKit (used by Safari and
    Chrome) blocking frame navigation.
SAP officially support Safari as of EHP5 (which runs on Netweaver 7.02). If running via the portal you'd need Netweaver 7.2 portal or above for Safari support for the portal.
I also found a SAP Note 1642778 " which includes "Unified rendering: Support for Safari, Chrome browser", which is
relevant to EHP4 (Netweaver 7.01). Upgrading to EHP4 and above isn't a small step if you've done any significant customisation on the BSP Recruiter pages as these are replaced with new ABAP WebDynpro pages.
To date I haven't seen the unified rendering corrections back ported to Netweaver 7.00 even though they were for 7.01
and this isn't officially supported (as per the PAM as mentioned by Andy).
    See https://service.sap.com/pam
Then look at the link in the middle of the page:
"Browser information for: SAP NETWEAVER 7.0,  SAP EHP1 FOR SAP NETWEAVER 7.0 and  SAP EHP2 FOR SAP NETWEAVER 7.0 "
This opens a PDF showing official support dependencies between browser versions and SAP versions and patch levels.
    EHP3=Netweaver 7.00
    EHP4=Netweaver 7 EHP1 (a.k.a. 7.01)
    EHP5=Netweaver 7 EHP2 (a.k.a 7.02)
To see what patch level you're running log into the SAP GUI on the eRecruitment system, then select System->Status...
from the menu. Click the detail (maginifying glass icon on the right next to Component Version). Then look at the patch
level of the SAP_BASIS component. Compare this to the patch levels in the browser support PDF to see which versions
to upgrade to e.g. SP24 or higher for IE9 support.
We're currently patching our EHP3 system up to SP25 to help with IE9. Firefox 8 is working (as is Firefox 9 beta).
Sadly Safari and Chrome still aren't working and this is the latest patch level. SP26 is mentioned but not out yet.
Also check the browser roadmap on p17 of the browser support PDF. It makes clear they intend to support Safari and Chrome
going forward but no timescale is given.
