Upgrade to Infinity and get reduced wireless recep...

My upgrade from the usual broadband to BT Infinity has not gone well. A call to initially arrange was easy with a mutually convenient date chosen. I then receive a text and email confirming a different date. I also receive an email confirming my move to Infinity but showing an old address from 3 years ago in a different county. I have to telephone BT to sort it out.
On the new date an engineer calls, but the router that should have arrived in the post to me has not. The engineer has run out of spares so has to try to get one from a colleague. She will have to go away and come back this afternoon.
The engineer calls with the router and completes all the fitting. It works fine and I log on to the wireless, in the same room as the router, whilst the engineer is present. All seems fine and the engineer leaves.
I then find that the intended improvement by upgrading has not worked, in fact it's much worse! Although I can obviously get wireless in the same room as the router, the intended improved wireless reception in the house is far worse and in some rooms non at all.
I call BT the following day to request the engineer to come back. I'm told that I will have to pay for that. I had signed the form so it's down to me. I hadn't signed anything, but even if I had, what a terrible attitude. I can't believe my ears. The installation upgrade is not working properly and I have to pay to rectify it?! There is no movement on this and I'm fuming. What has happened to the old BT where customer service was part of the service?
So I upgrade to BT Infinity, the wireless is rubbish and I've got a worse service than the old cheaper one and BT refuse to come and fix it unless I pay for it. This is not good!! Please help.

    What exactly do you mean by a "very good deal"? Discounts for BOTH lines??
    If only one line is eligible for an upgrade, then you can only get a discounted phone for that line. You can get a new phone for the in-eligible line if you pay full price.
    You'll be able to take advantage of the BOGO deals and other discounts when BOTH lines are eligible.

  • Just upgraded to Infinity and I have some issues w...

    My old adsl line had a download of 4.5 Mbits/s and upload of 0.5.
    Infinity installed on the 24/12/14 on plan 17A. Speed went up to 5.5 Mbits/s down and 1.1 up.
    I called BT who arranged for the "dslam" (not sure if I have that right) to be reset so I would be recallabrated by the exchange software. No difference in speed.
    When I booked the upgrade my speed was indicated as 13 Mbits/s to 9.
    My line attenuation is 36db my snr is 6 and I am roughly 1.1 miles from the cabinet.
    Im using a BT Business Hub 5 plugged directly into the master socket Mk3. Ethernet is wired and the speed is from the BT hub software connection information.
    I logged a call for an engineer to visit. They came today. They found a fault in that the cable between the outside box and the bt socket showed a fault. They replaced the cable and socket and did everything they could except check the near by pole and the connections in the road, on another pole. Thre first pole has high voltage wires and so would need blue ladders and another engineer. The pole in the road had been smashed into and would require a hoist in order to inspect the connections.
    My calculations are that If it were perfect I should get 20 Mbits/s download. 13 would be nice. Am I right in thinking 5.5 is far too low and there is still a fault that need fixing?

    If you are over a mile from the cabinet I think you would be lucky to get 13Mbps never mind more than that. See graph for speed over distance. Infinity is VDSL2

    Back up all data.
    Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Keychain Access in the icon grid.
    From the menu bar, select

    There are three menus in the window. Change the selection in the top two to Best attempt, and in the bottom one to  CRL. Log out, log back in, and test.

  • Unable to order Infinity and getting the run-aroun...

    Hi All,
    Bit of a weird one, but hopefully someone can shed some light on it.
    First of all, I will state that according to the website and all the agents I have spoken to, I can receive Infinity at my property.
    Recently, I moved house into a brand new property. At my last property I had Infinity installed and was receiving a great service. When I moved into my new property, the guys on the phone at BT informed me that I could not order broadband until I had a working phoneline- I ordered a phoneline, which had to be installed/connected by an engineer. I was happy with this, knowing that I could order broadband as soon as it was installed. The installation day came and went, the phoneline was installed and I could make and receive calls. This is where the frustration started- I phoned again to ask for Infinity to be ordered, which they did- however needed to book an engineer to come out once again. The person on the phone informed me that there was an error on the system and that I would receive a call the following day from someone confirming a date for the engineer visit. This never happen, so about two days later I called back, the person apologised and tried to place the order again, again informing me that there was an error on the system. They suggested that I should order standard broadband because sometimes with new properties it helps the address become registerd with whoever book the engineers for Infinity, this seemed strange- but I went with and ordered standard broadband. The connection day came and I arrived home that evening to find the modem all lit up and access to the internet via my computer. So, I once again called BT to place an order for Infinity, but as before there was some kind of error booking the engineer and the told me I would receive a call the following day, to which I didn't. This happened a further 2-3 times, to which yesterday I called again and informed them that I was being promised calls from people to book the engineer but no one ever called, so could I please have the direct number, which they refused informing me that they did not have a direct number. So I waited again, which brings us to today where I have still not received a phonecall from anyone to book this engineer and everytime I call they try to reorder Infinity, receive this mysterious error, promise me a call back (which never happens), then repeat the entire process when I call them back.
    It's getting really frustrating now and I'm sick of calling them because as I know what they are going to try to do and I know that it's going to fail because of this error message, whatever it is... All I want to do is order BT Infinity, which according to the website and all the BT agents I have spoken to is available at my property. Can anyone please advise me?

    i want to upgrade my cpu from a core 2 duo e6750 to a core to quad q6600 and i want a new gpu ineed to be able to run 2 monitors and be able to run most games and design programs but i have heard its hard as my psu is only 240 watts so can someone please help me i will buy used ones if i have to but i need to know names of them as i have 5 dc7800 to upgrade ?

    Hi,
    The DC7800 SFF was not designed to run modern games.  Modern games for most situations would require a graphics card and a supporting power supply of 400-600 watts which is not available for your PC.  Another factor is the dimm speed in your PC which is inherently slow for video processing.

  • I tried to upgrade PSe-13 and get Error Code: U44M1I210.  I restarted and had loaded Elements and Premier elements separately and got same error code for both.  Someone said to Remove and reinstall but has that worked for anyone??

    Meowia for Error 201 please see Error downloading Creative Cloud applications - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/error-downloading-cc-apps.html.  Error 213 indicates there was problem locating the update or an incorrect URL.  The troubleshooting steps are still the same as both errors are related to failure of the current network connection.

    I just upgraded my computer not realizing cs2 would no longer run on Yosemite, can I upgrade my software and get it to work or do I need to buy the whole new software?  I am not looking to go to the cloud.

    You are long past any upgrade eligibility and even if you were to buy a CS6 license, there are compatibility issues with Yosemite. Getting Creative Cloud would make that much more sense...

  • BT Infinity and Zyxel Powerline Adapters - connect...

    Hi,
    I recently upgraded the Infinity and also moved house. So now I have the HH3 with BT Infinity. I use Zyxel Powerline adapters, but struggling to get a connection. 
    I'm using the following to connect to the HH3 http://www.zyxel.com/uk/en/products_services/pla4225.shtml?t=p and connecting through the Giga or Ethernet inputs on the back of the HH3 but when I try to connect my PC/Laptop to the Powerline adapter in my bedroom it cannot find the network.
    Any thoughts? Should I be connecting the Powerline Adapter to the HH3 or the white router BT supply? Do I need to configure something when setting up the Ethernet connection with my PC? I'm using my BT account credentials [email protected] and password but it's not connecting.
    Any inspiration/experimentation welcomed.

    Normally, connect one powerline to the HomeHub and the other to the PC.  If the PC has been set up in the standard way, it will then get a local ip address by DHCP from the HomeHub.  You might go to your PC ethernet adaptor settings and make sure they are set up for 'dhcp' and 'get DNS setttings automatically'.   You won't need to enter any credentials in the PC for this method.  You shouldn't go near the 'connect to the internet' dialog; it should just work automatically.
    If you only want to connect a single PC, you could connect the first powerline to the white modem and leave out the HH3 completely.  You would then need to put credentials into the PC: the normal thing there is to enter user '[email protected]', and the password doesn't matter.  That goes into a 'connect to the internet' dialog.
    Make sure the 'internet' or whatever lights are blinking on both powerlines, otherwise there is a problem with those, or  the bedroom ring is not connected closely enough to the other ring.  Unlikely, I had a perfectly good connection through different rings and different fuse boxes on different floors with similar zyxel powerline (only single ethernet ones); at least until one stopped working altogether.

    Same problem here! Moreover, for some reason, the pictures in my iPhone 3GS somehow have been divided into 2 folders, Photos and Medialibrary. And when I open iPhone as a folder through the explorer I can see only the Photos folder, but cannot see the Medialibrary folder which stores the photos taken before updating/upgrading the iPhone and getting separated folders!!! What the hack with all of this?!!! When I connect iPhone to PC it automatically opens iTunes and starts syncronizing it, but at the process of OPTIMIZING the photos (and according to the number of photos it shows, I see that it tries to syncronize that invisible Medialibrary folder) the process suddenly stops and error message pops out Tried the sync test, tried the button DEBUG in that pop out message, but NOTHING HELPS!!! Also, when I open the Medialibrary in my iPhone, the screen get sblack all through scrolling it down, only the video clips are shown there... >.<
    So, could you, apple developers, please, explain WHAT THIS PROBLEM IS ABOUT?!!!!!! FIX IT! I am getting ****** of to spend hours at the computer and reading those lame advises which do not help at all! I have my own things to do except reading your support websites. And I payed for the product ready to use, but not a halfproduct which problems should further be solved somehow by users..

    Have just signed up for BT Infinity but am having second thoughts before it is installed next week. Have 2 Macs, a PC, 2 iPhones, a Mac Pro and Apple TV. Have just re-read the conditions and see that Desktop help is not availaable for the Mac! I also see that people are having problems streaming from their computer and I have Apple TV, will I have any problems streaming to that. Doesn't BT realise that there are a lot of Macs out there. Any experience with these , please advise

    I have 2 Macs and iphones etc - recently upgraded to Infinity and the HH3 and have recently purchase Apple TV third generation connected by WiFi.
    The ATV sees my Mac, can play trailers etc, can play my music, photos and content from my Mac but the ATV diconnects from home sharing after around the first 5 minutes and returns to the main menu.
    I then go back into the programme that I am streaming from the Mac and it plays in full with no drop out.
    When trying to watch the iTunes festival - again, it drops out after 5 minutes and returns to main menu.
    I have even put the ATV into the DMZ on the home hub to see if that works but to no avail...
    Any ideas...?

I wish to upgrade to Infinity, and have a hub 2.0 with a standard bt telephone plugged into the hub using the internet line (with a number that is different from my landline number). I understand that when I upgrade to the Infinity Hub, I lose the option of a hub phone or line, but I wish to retain the number - either to replace the existing landline number, or to take out a second landline, using this number. BT have said 4 different things -   1. No, not possible (BT sales centre) or                                                                                                                                        2. Definitely can retain the number, just can't guarantee on the day it might not happen (BT Sales centre, again),                                                  
    3. Yes, absolutely possible either by transferring Braodband into this number, or adding a second landline(BT Technical Help desk)       4 No (from BTcustomer service)  
     Does anyone know the truth? oor have experience of this situation? Any help desperately appreciated - thank you
