  • Upgrade concerns to ios6 on Ipad 3

I am concerned about upgrading to Ios6 from 5 on Ipad 3. Specifics: I have several thousand photos in albums created by using the "photo card reader" and PhotoMngPro app. None were added via Itunes synch to avoid the annoying issue of losing your photos if they are moved or removed from the PC harddrive during a synch. Also, the Ipad Photo app is too limited... can't reorder pics or delete duds. The PhotoPro app allows this and more. Also, not sure (no response from app developer) if the app is 6 compatible. Also, have 12 manuals in pdf files added by capturing from downloads. Don't know what to do or what might happen. While I synch my Ipod Touch frequent as well as Ipod Classic, I only synched the Ipad a couple of times... some time ago. Thanks for any tips, etc. As basically a PC guy for 15 years, I am rather confused by Apple's approach
    Greg

What iOS are you running on your iPad?  If your iOS is lower than 5, you won't have the software update option, which means you'll have to update the OS via iTunes on your computer.  To check the OS:
    Settings > General > About
You'll see what iOS version you have.
NOTE:  Once you do update, you'll be able to update via the Cloud in the future.

  • Leopard Upgrade Concerns

    To All:
First, thanks for reading my post. I own an iMac G5 (2nd gen) and a 17" MacBook Pro w/ core 2 Duo. Both of them came with Tiger installed and have worked very well for me. Now with Leopard out, I have read Apple's Support Discussions, the Macfitit and MacInTouch websites and between these three places, I've read about a lot of issues with Leopard. It has made me nervous about upgrading and I'm not sure what to do. I know that all these sites report issues so they give a slanted view of how easy Leopard installs and how well it works.
I've never had to upgrade my OS and I'm not sure what the best approach is. I have SuperDuper on both machines and I have external hard drives that are bootable clones for both machines. I know that SuperDuper is not presently compatible with Leopard along with some other applications I use, so I am waiting for a bit to upgrade.
Now, what do I need? First, some reassurance on how Leopard is really doing in the Mac community. Is it just a small group of users having problems or are there issues that newer users like me need to be aware of? I have read in the regular press that Leopard is doing very well for Apple. What's the real truth here?
Second, Since I've never done an OS upgrade, what is the best approach after doing a full backup? I know you can just do an direct upgrade by booting from the install disk, but what about archive and install or doing a fresh install? How hard is it to re-integrate my applications and data from my backup hard drive if I were to do a clean install of Leopard? What do I use and how successful is it?
Working in the Windows world, I've always preferred a fresh install of the OS as an upgrade can cause problems. Is this true in the Mac world?
I hope your experiences can help me make the best decisions when I do decide to upgrade to Leopard.
    Thanks,
    Gerry

I agree with Dirk. I downloaded some of the info from several web sites that gave step by step instructions for loading Leopard. Did all the things that Dirk said he did. I am currently running Leopard on three of my four Macs. My wife's is one of those PhDs who yells for her IT guy every time there is a problem. Her IT guy is me. And believe me I am no IT guy just a very long time Mac user. She has one of those minds and schedules that have never allow her to really learn the Mac OS - I'm not sure she ever mastered Windows before we were married.
With the exception of a couple of applications programs. I have a lot of application programs and data for my work - CAD, FileMaker, Fast Track, OmniPlan, Office, etc., etc. Most have worked fine. Couple needed patches and have since been patched. Couple that still have problems are Super Duper (Time Machine works great when the back up drive has its own direct connection to the Mac - don't daisy chain), Canon All-In-One machines like the MP780 work with individual driver functions but their MP Navigator needs a patch. I'm not sure Norton Anti Virus has been fully patched. It works okay, but I can turn off searching for updates each time I start my Mac.
Also found an issue with memory. I had 512MB memory that was factory installed on my G5. I installed an additional 2 gigs that I purchased from a Certified Apple Reseller and Repair Facility. G5 ran slow and when I check About This Mac after reading some posts about third party memory found that my computer was only recognizing the original factory installed 512MB. Called Apple Care and we found by disconnecting the original 512MB and restarting the computer, it recognized the other 2 gigs, shut down, reinstalled the 512MB and started it up. It recognized all 2.5 and has been ripping since.
I'd say make sure the instructions that were posted on the various web sites are followed implicitly and there should be no problems.
This is a general statement, I'm not saying that problems can't be encountered, but most problems are induced by the user and some times by the overly confident user that doesn't read all of the good info that is out there or by being over confident and missing crucial steps - been there and done that.

  • IWeb upgrade concerns.

When I upgraded from iWeb 07 to 08, the process created a whole new web site. I'm thinking about going to 09, but absolutely DO NOT want that hassle again. Any thoughts?
    Ty Ford

    Try the following:
1 - delete the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iWeb.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder.
2 - go to your User/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder and delete the contents.
    3 - reboot.
4 - launch iWeb and see if the domain file will open properly.
    If that doesn't help continue:
5 - move the domain file from your User/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder to the Desktop.
6 - launch iWeb, create a new test site and save.
7 - go to the your User/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder and delete the new domain file.
8 - move your original domain file from the Desktop to the iWeb folder.
9 - launch iWeb and try again.

  • FM2 A55M E33 upgrade concerns.. :)

Hi just a few questions before i buy anything..
At the moment what I have is:
    MSI FM2 A55M E33, AMD A8 - 5600K, 2 X 2GB 1333 RAM, Deepcool GAMMAX200 Heatsink, 500GB HDD, Generic 600w PSU, Cheap Case.
Now, I'm planning to upgrade the Video Card and RAM this week, and I don't know what to get.. But i think from what I plan I may need a new PSU and CASE.. (Will get Thermaltake Commander MS1 - this one, i think im sure)
My budget is below $300 (VGA, RAM, CASE, PSU).
The guy from the store told me that I would have a problem running 1600 RAMs on my FM2.. I didn't bother to ask him so I'm asking here..
Would a Powercolor HD 7790 work on my unit?
Im sure i would need to upgrade my PSU but how many watts should i get?
    Thanks!

So something liker (Kingston HyperX Memory 2 x 4gb Ddr3-1600 Cl9) should work?
    Yes
Quote from: thinkx on 14-September-13, 06:26:25
Would this PSU -- Seasonic S12ii-520 Power Supply 520watts S-Series -- be enough?
Yes but I would suggest you attempt to get a unit like that but around 600W as it will give you some headroom as that one is good on both but is close on the minimum wattage so may be a little unstable over time as it ages!

  • Need to upgrade, concerned about running epson 7800  from 10.6

My G5 is dying, and might have to get a new Mac Pro. Does anyone know if I'll be able to use my existing icc profiles in CS2 on Snow Leopard, to print on an Epson 7800? I have print editions in progress, and need to be able to continue working in the same color environment.
Can I possibly get a new Mac and run 10.5.8 on it instead of 10.6?

    Welcome to Apple's discussion groups.
Epson's Web site does list a driver for OS X 10.6 for that printer. In addition, this Apple page
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3669#epson
    does mention a "Gutenprint" driver.
Can I possibly get a new Mac and run 10.5.8 on it instead of 10.6?
No. In general, a Mac can't run a version of OS X older than the one that first shipped with it. However, you could buy a used Mac that runs OS X 10.5.8. MacTracker (http://mactracker.dreamhosters.com/) will give you information of the version of OS X that was current for each model.

  • Upgrading concerns - RH5 to RH7 Modular Project

I'm updating the online help our company offers to customers.
The existing help is modular, with about 20 separate help projects
representing different modules or aspects of our software product.
Each of these projects is a book in the combined Table of Contents
    (which is what customers see).
We expect to buy RH7 next month, meanwhile, I'm demonstrating
how I would use the new RoboHelp. In particular, I'm adding Bread
Crumb trails and an Index, while improving the navigation/reducing
the number of clicks to get the answer.
My management wants me to release new topics one at a time.
Will the new projects work with the old ones? If I select the
old path when executing the publish command, this should put the
new material in place of the old. But will the new features--Bread
Crumb trails and the Index work in an old combined project? If only
one of the modules has breadcrumbs and an index, will the combined
    project work correctly?
    Thanks for any suggestions.
I do not want to attach any materials. My management is very
strict about not releasing such things.

    Welcome to the forum.
I don't think I would want to mix and match outputs from
different versions. I am not saying that it will not work as I
haven't tested it. However, the topics will contain some breadcrumb
information that will probably not be supported by stuff that
    should be in support files.
You would have to copy your target and then generate some
stuff to that copy to test.
Personally I wouldn't go there but I understand your
situation. The only answer though is testing.

  • Using another family members upgrade?

This has probably been asked a billion times, so sorry about that. My mother and I both have an iphone 4s, but she has had hers for longer so she is eligible for an upgrade sooner than me. Mine is cracked pretty badly, and I can't use this phone for another year. Can I use her upgrade to get an iPhone 5?

        Dear tylersux,
Good morning. I am sorry to hear your phone was recently damanged. I know how frustrating it can be to work with a cracked screen on your phone. It would be my pleasure to address your upgrade concerns.
First and foremost, have you checked if you have insurance on your phone? If so, you may file a claim and replace your phone with the same make and model. To verify insurance and file a claim click http://bit.ly/07CrqPK
If there is no insurance, I am happy to inform you that yes, if your mother's phone line is eligible to upgrade, you may process an alternate upgrade by using her upgrade to get a new phone at discounted pricing then activate the phone on your line. This will extend her contract end date as well as her upgrade date. Also, please keep in mind, if she has a grandfathered unlimited data plan, it would remove her data plan and require to change to new data pricing. To view our share everything plans click http://bit.ly/xdDajD  You may also view online deals and process your upgrade online http://bit.ly/zpAY1E . Should you have further questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to us. Have a great day!

  • How to move existing project into upgraded Robohelp?

I have multiple existing help projects in Robohelp maintained in version 7, and we are upgrading to version 10. Will I be able to open these projects in the new version without taking additional steps, or are there concerns I should be aware of? Would a new project need to be created? If there is information somewhere about upgrade concerns, and someone could point me to it, I would really appreciate it.
    <moved by mod from downloading,installing,setting up - kglad>

There are a number of posts already that cover this.
First make a backup in case you encounter issues with the upgrade. I recommend you zip the backup to stop you accidentally opening it.
Then just open the project in Rh10. The only expected problem is with lists, numbered or bulleted. See Lists on my site for information on that.
If you do encounter other problems, post back with specific details. Should be OK.

  • Upgrade at 19 months costs $20??

I visited a Verizon store on Friday because my current phone is acting up and I want to upgrade as soon as I can.  I am one month away from my NE2 upgrade date of Oct. 4th, but according to my account online I am eligible for an upgrade at discounted price.  Talking to the representative, who was rude and seemed bored of being there, he informed me that I was too early and if I wanted to upgrade that day I would have to pay $20 to get the discounted price as well as losing my $30 NE2.  Reading forums online, I have seen where other customers were allowed to have their NE2 date moved up 30 days so they could replace a dieing phone early.  This possible option was never offered to me and in fact seemed like the sales rep wanted to charge me as much as possible.
I'm disappointed with all the changes Verizon has made this year, yet never informed their customers of these changes!  Before January I would have received $100 toward a new phone, but now learn that I only get $30 of that.  I do at least appreciate the company being willing to grandfather in the unlimited data plan since they have now changed to a tiered pricing structure for data.
Basically my questions are, does the option to move the NE2 up 30 days actually exist and do I really have to pay $20 extra to upgrade before 20 months?
    Thank you

Thanks to SuzyQ for your input and assistance with the inquiry.
    Hello crystaltopaz84,
I apologize for any issues you had when speaking to the representative in having your upgrade concerns addressed. Usually, the eligibility date for a New Every Two credit is set for a specific date based on your last upgrade. However, I can see about having the date moved up or for looking any available options for getting your phone upgraded. Please send me your information in a private message. I will be happy to review your account and get back to you. Also, the $20.00 fee would only apply if you are doing an Annual Upgrade. Since you are within 30 days of when your eligible to do the New Every Two upgrade, you would not have to pay this additional $20.00 fee.

  • ITunes Told Me To Upgrade To 8.1

I just got an alert finally from iTunes telling me to now upgrade to V8.1
I haven't been told this until now. I was listening to iTunes when it popped up to let me know. I've been reading all the chatter since the weekend regarding upgrade concerns & issues. What is the deal with the new upgrade? What will I expect from this?

    You will be unhappy.
I upgraded when it came out, now I am unable to access my downloads.
I can't revert back to iTunes 8.02, because it modifies (upgrades) your library and will not read it after installing the older, working version.
Trying to not get too upset and maybe a fix will happen soon.
If you upgrade, look forward to a red X that says this:
*Unable to check for available downloads.*
The iTunes Store is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later.
I noticed something different in network diagnostic file. It lists me as not being an administrator, *which is false*.
Network diagnostics complete fine. If any apple people actually read these complaints, here are the results:

  • Is there a size limit on internal HD? iBook G4 1Ghz

Recently bought a used 12" iBook G4. Of course no installation discs came with it.
When received it had a 30 Gb hard drive, 528 mb RAM, and 10.3.9.
I wanted to max out RAM, increase HD size, and move to 10.4.x.
(Additional background - I have various other Macs and can use Fire Wire Target Mode from any of them to the "new" iBook.)
RAM upgrade successful. I borrowed install discs from a friend with a similar though not identical machine; his is a 1.33 Ghz. When I removed the old HD and replaced with a new 160 Gb drive, the Install discs did not see the HD. So I took the iBook apart again, put the new drive in an OWC external enclosure connected to my Powerbook G4. Saw that the drive needed formatting, duh, I did so. Put it back in the iBook. Started up from the install disc, it still did not see the HD. Started the iBook in Fire Wire Target mode; could not see the newly installed HD from the other machine either; all I could see on the iBook end of the Firewire was the CD/DVD. I have looked through various threads here related both to iBook HD replacement and to system upgrade concerns - nothing I find matches my issue.
I have since reinstalled the original 30 Gb HD, have used the borrowed installation discs to do a clean install of 10.3.x (so the similar but not identical was close enough) and a retail 10.4 Install to upgrade the system. So, 2 out of 3; I have my expanded memory, a clean upgraded system. But I hate to give up on a bigger internal HD!!!
    1. Is there a size limit on the internal HD on the iBook? Is 160 Gb too large, and should I try again with a less aggressive increase? I do have a 60 Gb I could pull out of a PB G4 I will probably sell...
    2. If size is not the problem, it seems that maybe it would help if I somehow pre-install the system onto the 160Gb before I physically put it into the iBook. But I do not understand the whole process of making bootable backups etc. Is there a way I can copy my current installation, or do a reinstallation of 10.3.x or 10.4.x on the 160 Gb while is is external, connected via Firewire, and then swap the 160 Gb into the iBook and have it just boot up? I see hard drives for sale in eBay "with OS X 10.x.x already installed..."? I tried, both from my Powerbook and from the iBook to do an Install onto the 160 Gb while it was attached via Firewire. The PB didn't want to have anything to do with those iBook Install discs. The iBook wouldn't allow me the option of doing an Installation onto the External drive. And I assume that a simple Select-All-and-Copy isn't going to do it for me. So how do I install onto the drive while it is external, and will it work once I move it into the iBook?
    3. Probably not important, but out of curiosity... if I could use my Powerbook G4 Installation discs to burn a new system onto my 160 Gb drive (when it was connected as an external to the PB), and then put that drive into the iBook, would that work? Or would iBook vs. Powerbook differences throw off the installation?
    Thanks!
    Stan

    Shiftless:
Is there a size limit on the internal HD on the iBook?
The only limitation of HDD size is due to availability. The largest capacity ATA/IDE HDD available is 250 GB. Theoretically there is no limit to the capacity your computer will support, if larger capacity HDDs were available.
If size is not the problem, it seems that maybe it would help if I somehow pre-install the system onto the 160Gb before I physically put it into the iBook.
This is not necessary, although you could do it this way. I note in your later responses that you have already attempted this process and have some difficulties. Here is the procedure I would recommend, after the HDD is installed.
    • Clone the old internal HDD to an external firewire HDD. I gather you have done this.
    • Format and erase the newly installed HDD (directions follow).
    • Install new OS from disk or clone back from external HDD. (Post back for directions if you choose to install from this and then restore from backup).
Formatting, Partitioning Erasing a Hard Disk Drive
Warning! This procedure will destroy all data on your Hard Disk Drive. Be sure you have an up-to-date, tested backup of at least your Users folder and any third party applications you do not want to re-install before attempting this procedure.
    • With computer shut down insert install disk in optical drive.
    • Hit Power button and immediately after chime hold down the "C" key.
    • Select language
    • Go to the Utilities menu (Tiger) Installer menu (Panther & earlier) and launch Disk Utility.
    • Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in left side bar.
    • Select Partition tab in main panel. (You are about to create a single partition volume.)
    • Click on Options button
    • Select Apple Partition Map (PPC Macs) or GUID Partition Table (Intel Macs)
    • Click OK
    • Select number of partition in pull-down menu above Volume diagram.
(Note 1: One partition is normally preferable for an internal HDD.)
    • Type in name in Name field (usually Macintosh HD)
    • Select Volume Format as Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
    • Click Partition button at bottom of panel.
    • Select Erase tab
    • Select the sub-volume (indented) under Manufacturer ID (usually Macintosh HD).
    • Check to be sure your Volume Name and Volume Format are correct.
    • Click Erase button
    • Quit Disk Utility.

  • Modifying standard BSP pages

    Hello,
I would like to add some functionality (precisely some Javascript code) to a standard BSP page. As it is a SAP standard, the system doesn’t allow to modify it as normal BSP page. Is there any possibility to attach some code or functionality to BSP page without modifying the code, I mean something similar to, for example, enhancements, user-exits in R/3 so that we could activate and insert the code?
Thanks in advance for any hint.
    Regards,
    Anna

    Hi,
I would not recommend to change standard SAP BSP pages. When there is an update or upgrade concerning this pages, you will get problems and will need to SPAU till the end of days (see also http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/60/d6ba7bceda11d1953a0000e82de14a/frameset.htm) and eventual modify things again, which isn't a pleasant job at all.
I would say that you make a copy to a Z application and work further on that one.

  • Msi Kt133 & Ami Bios

    Hi,
I'd like to upgrade the bios of a KT133 motherboard, but is an AMI BIOS, and  i found nowhere an upgrade concerning this bios.
The most recent bios found are Award Bios.
Can i use them to flash my motherboard ? If not what could i do ?
    Thanks for the help .
