Upgrading from EP6 SPS09 to EP6 SPS13 - SDM returncode 4

Hi SDN,
I tried to patch my portal EP6SPS09 to EP6SPS13 . After reaching the installation step "Deploy EAR File" the update procedure stops at the seventh step "Deploy via SDM" with the error message SDM could not start returncode 4.
I have seen this problem in serveral updates (SP11, SP12) before and I was always able to fix this issue, but not in this case.
So I investigated this problem and found the following error in callviaSDM.log

Aug 6, 2005 2:59:09 PM   Info: End of log messages of the target system.
So I looked for a regarding note and found the sap note: 710966 DEPLOY_LOCK error during upgrade . I check the lock status of my sap.com/irj application.
The sap.com/irj is not running properly or the sap.com/irj is not installed.
So I reistalled the whole system EP6 SR1 and repeated the upgrade. The Upgrade of the WAS runs successfully, but the EP upgrade crashes again. I do not have a cluster version. I tried to upgrade my portal with the safe mode and without safe mode.
Has anyone of you installed EP6 SPS13 successfully?
My system:
1 CPU
Oracle DB
JVM 1.4.2_07
OS Win2000
Please help.
Best Regards,
Olaf Reiss

  • Portal Upgrade from EP6.0sp10 to EP6.0sp18

    Hi All,
I am totally new to portal upgrade.we have current version of portal as follows:
    portal version is: 6.0.10.2.0
    KMC version is   : 6.0.10.1.0 (NW04 SPS10 Patch 1)
    Trex Version     : 6.1.10.01
    1. I am little confuse about whats the difference between Upgrading from EP6.0sp10 to "<b>EP6.0sp18/ NW04sp18</b>".Is the process for doing above is  same or different.
    2. I heard from SAP that TREX must  be upgraded first before KMC and Portal. Is it true? whats is reason for that
?what should be latest SP and patch for TREX?any documents?
    3. Is there any specific sequence to upgrade like TREX->WAS>portal>KMC?
    4. What about customisations objects, will that be seriously affected after upgrade? How to prevent that?
can anybody give the Basic knowledge of upgrade and process flow.
Thanks in Advance.Help will be greatly appreciated.
    Amit

    Hi Amit,
EP6 SP18 ist the actual Service Pack for Enterprise Portal. NW04 SPS(!) 18 is the complete Service Pack Stack for the NetWeaver platform. So if you want SP18 for your portal installation, you should get the whole NetWeaver platform in use for that to SPS18 (as you wrote, for EP this is normally WAS, EP, KM, TREX, eventually NWDS).
TREX normally has the same counting as the rest, but in fact at the moment there is no SP18 for TREX, but it is renumbered again. The actual version reads TREX 6.1 Patch 26.
Sequence is WAS -> portal -> KMC -> TREX. Anyhow, you should not await a stable version if using mixed SPs, especially if mixing 10 with 18 So get all in line and then restart working with your installation.
As you normally shouldn't have customized standard objects but copied them into your own namespace and worked on these, there shouldn't be a problem. If you haven't gone this way, with such an update you will learn how urgent it is to keep this in mind --- never change standard objects...
    Hope it helps

  • Upgrade from EP6.0SP2 to Netweaver 04

    Hi,
Currently we have EP6.0Sp2 Patch3 installed and running. Recently we have got Netweaver 04. Kindly let me know what is the procedure for upgrading from EP6.0SP2 to Netwearver 04. DO we need to build a new system? or can old system be upgraded.
    Thanks,
    Maya.

    Hi Maya,
in addtion To Dagfinn, some details:
    - The migration tools are planned for Q1/2005. See /thread/25021 [original link is broken] where it is said they are planned for 2005-02-16, but I don't know how official this is.
    - For WAS migration, there is a forum, with one thread at the moment, saying "J2EE Migration Kit available!!!", with one answer ("Where?"), with no reply... See SAP NetWeaver Application Server
    - Anyhow, there are different SAP notes concerning migration issues, in detail:
Note 804876 for a KMC issue
Note 778977 for a PCD issue
And last but not least: The "EP 6 SP2 Migration to NW04 (EP6 SR1) Troubleshooting Guide": http://service.sap.com/~sapidb/012003146900000023012005E/Migration_Troubleshooting_Guide.htm

  • Export/import content from EP6 into NW04

We are upgrading from SRM3.0/EP6 SP2 (source) to SRM5.0/Portal NW2004s (target).
The only thing we need to preserve from the source portal are the users and roles. We plan to re-apply the business package for SRM 5.0 after the migration is completed. We are not using any Collaboration Rooms.
I know there is a migration path from EP6 SP2->EP6 SP9(NW04), followed by an upgrade from NW04->NW04s.
    My question is:
    - is it possible to export content from EP6SP2 and import it into NW04/MW04s?  this will eliminate the complicated migration path from EP6 SP2 to NW04.

    Hi,
As long as you only need to transport PCD content, I would recommend using normal PCD transport (just did an upgrade from EP6 SP2 to NW04 SP13 and used normal PCD transport without any problems. Will do the same for another upgrade to NW04s). Only if you have KM content you are forced to use the migration tools.
I am not quite sure about users and role migration since I've only use LDAP as a user store (we manually repeated the AD group to portal role mapping since there were very few)
There was a conf call on this, but the only reference I can find now is https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/supplemental_docs/prtl204.pdf

    Hai,
Some of the Controls added newly in Webdynpro 2004s. some UI elements like IFrame are depricated, but i seen all of my applications developed in 2004 are working in EP7.0 .

  • Upgrade from ep 6.0 to 7.0

    Hi ,
This is our scenario.we have decided to go for E.P upgrade from 6.0 to 7..0 .I want suggestions from the people whoever have done this or aware of this otherwise provide me the link where i can get the information on this .that is downtime required during upgrade and hick ups etc. we are not going to procure separate hardware for this upgrade activity ,we are carrying on with existing one.and also for time being we don't have plan for 32 bit to 64 bit upgrade.
    Environment:OS-windows nt,.DB--sql server 2000 ,sap version-.ep 6.0 (32 bit)
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Nitinkumar,
you should tell us if you are on EP 6 SP2 or EP6 NW04.
There is a big difference between them.
You can have info for the upgrade at http://service.sap.com/upgrade
In August we migrated/upgraded from EP6 SP2 to EP 7.0 2004s, on oracle database, windows 2003.
It took me 42 hours in a 3 days week-end.
What takes a lot of time :
Apply the most recent SP and hotfixes with JSPM.
Configuring Kerberos SSO, because IISProxy is not supported anymore.
Upgrade of Oracle 9 to 10 (not your case).
Deploy the new local edit activeX

  • Upgrading from EP60 to EP70

We are currently using EP 6.0 SP2 Patch 4 and we want to upgrade to EP 7.0. We have very minor customizations (a few iViews and style sheet changes).
Rather than patching our existing portal to the latest EP 6.0 patch level, migrating it to NW2004 and then upgrading to NW2004S, we would simply prefer to create a new EP 7.0 instance and transport our most recent EP 6.0 package to it. We would then manually recreate the custom iViews and any style sheet changes.
Will this work okay?  I would appreciate feedback from anyone who has taken this route.
    Regards,
    Calvin

    Hi,
I think it should work. Depending on how complex your security settings are you might also have to export and import these [securiting settings|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/d6/7dd241d98eda6fe10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm].
If you are using KM content you will have to transport this as well.
Are you using some kind of SSO (to the backend or to the portal?) Then you will have to recreate the trusts between the systems.
All in all I would recommend to do the upgrade. Especially if you did not modify a lot then the upgrade from EP6 to EP7 works (almost) without problems.
Please let me know if I can help you further on this,
    Holger.

  • SSO fails from EP6 to R/3 4.6C

    Hi,
I am trying to replace a Workplace 2.11 system (and standalone ITS 6.10) with Enterprise Portal 6.0 Web AS 6.40 system (and standalone ITS 6.20).
    The R/3 backend is 4.6C.
    I've performed th following steps:
    - installed and patched the Portal and ITS
    - upgraded the WP-PI in R/3 4.6C system to 600_46C
    - downloaded the verify.der file from the Portal and imported it into the R/3 backend, adding it to the PSE and ACL
    - added ~mysapcomusesso2cookie = 1 to global.srvc file and restarted ITS
    - implemented SSO from EP6 using SAPLOGONTICKET (using FQDN for all servers)
However, I am getting the errors below in the R/3 dev trace file for the work process.
I have checked table TWPSSO2ACL which had a valid entry for DMO client 000 (Portal system), and output from transactions PSEMAINT and SSO2 look OK.

    Hi Sharyn,
There is a lot of confusion regarding use of EP60 with R/3 4.6C
Your thread seems to indicate that you have successfully installed EP60 with R/3 4.6C using ITS 6.2 and Web AS 6.40 Is that correct?
We intend to go for the same architecture. Can you please tell me if there is a guide(document) on setting this up? Also, where can i find the above software components to install? I don't find the SDC on marketplace very intutive (especially for old releases).
    Thanks and regards,

  • Unable to connect to BW3.5(IDES) from EP6.0

    Hi All,
I am trying to establish connection to our BW system (IDES, BW3.5 NW04) from EP6.0.9. I have done the following as per procedure.
    - Creating BW system
    - Setting Usermgmt (UIDPW and admin, user)
    - User mapping also done
Connection tests for connector works fine but fails for WAS.
      Test Details:
The test consists of the following steps:
    1. Check that the system object defines an SAP system
    2. Validate the following parameters: wap.WAS.protocol; wap.WAS.hostname
    3. Check the HTTP/S connection to the defined backend application
      Results
    1. The system object represents an SAP system.
    2. The following parameters are valid: wap.WAS.protocol (http) ; wap.WAS.hostname

    3. HTTP/S connection failed. Make sure the protocol, host name, and user mapping are correctly defined.
P.S: I have verified the WAS hostname and port from the 'sicm' tcode.
    WAS PATH: /sap/bw/bex
Can someone please tell me where it went wrong?
    Thanks
    Sathish

    Hi Sathish
when u perform WAS Connection test than it's perform both
http and http/s connection to WAS it's only give u that
HTTP/S connection failed. Make sure the protocol, host name, and user mapping are correctly defined
becoz u did not use HTTPS protocol for WAS
don't worry about that. if the connection test perform HTTP/S connection than it's always failed. ( u don't use HTTPS protocol for WAS)
    further look at following.

  • Export Customized Information Attributes from EP6 to EP7

    Hi Everyone,
Is it possible to migrate User Admin customized information fields from EP6 SP17 to 7 EhP1 SP7?  The standard portal user export functionality only collects the standard fields and ignores the custom attributes.
Does anyone have an idea on how this task can be achieved???
    Thanks,
    Bim.

    No longer a requirement, thanks.

  • How to migrate UWL from EP6 to EP7

    Hello,
We want to migrate UWL from EP6 to EP7. Is enough task to transport the customize XML file that is located in UWL?
Is it necessary to upload to EP7 the rest of attached documents? How?
    Thanks,
    Marta.

Just install the same way you did originally.  Download/install the desktop application, sign in, install the subscription application(s).  You are allowed to have two working installations so you can keep the original intact if you like.  If you prefer not to then you should sign out of the old installation as a minimum.

  • Adobe Document Services: How to upgrade from ADS SP 9 to ADS SP 15

    Hi,
Can anyone tell me that how I can upgrade from ADS SP9 to ADS SP15.
I have downloaded the files ADSSAP15_0-20000262.SCA and ADSSAPOFF15_0-20000262.SCA.
Can anyone tell me the procedure for upgrading i.e Is there anything which is to undeploy regarding ADS SP9 or directly to deploy it through SDM and which of these above two files to deploy first through SDM or something else to do first.
    Regards
    Deep

    Hey Deep,
    you have to do following:
    1. Deploy these two files using SDM
    2. Undeploy DocumentServicesBinaries using SDM
    3. Remove the alias "ReaderRights" from "Document Services Configuration" in the Visual Administrator
    4. Move the Credential file to the directory <INSTDIR>/<SAPSID>/SYS/global/AdobeDocumentServices/TrustManagerService/trust/credentials
    5. Go back to the Visual Administrator and register the "ReaderRights" again
    6. Restart the SAP J2EE Engine

I'm currently trying to upgrade from SP11 to SP14. I started with upgrading the J2EE Engine.
Whe doing so the Installation stops at step 17 with the
following error message in log-file callSdmViaSapinst.log:
ERROR: Not deployed. Deploy Service returned ERROR:
                         java.rmi.RemoteException: Cannot deploy application sap.com/tc~uddi..
Reason: Application alias [uddi] for application [sap.com/tc~uddi] already exists in the HTTP Provider Service. The application that holds this alias is [sap.com/com.sap.uddi].
Has anybody encountered a similar problem and can help me?
    Thanks,
    Stephan

    Hi Vasu,
here is the complete StackTrace as found in callSdmViaSapinst.log. I hope this is what you meant by installation path. BTW, restarting the installation didn't help.

  • Is it really possible to upgrade from a Treo 650 to a Treo 750?

I am not a very happy customer at the moment, but any help would be greatly appreciated. I upgraded from my old Palm Tungsten to a Zire, then to a Cingular Treo 650, combining three devices into one. I have since discovered that the Treo 650 seems to have a faulty transmission mode, as I can rarely be clearly understood by whomever I call. Am on the second (or third, I have lost track) and continue to have the same problem. I get five bars of reception but can't be understood on the other end. A bit of a problem when one is trying to call 911. Am constantly told I am "breaking up". The repair shop says it "Can't duplicate the problem". OK, then I do not want to give up all the info I have stored in the fool thing, and the 750 seems to have a different system, so I thought I would try that. All the stuff I could find seemed to indicate it wouldn't be a problem to upgrade. When the 750 arrived, I tried to install the software from the CD on my Windows XP computer. No dice. Setup encounters an error and closes. Can't even look at the files, because setup tries to run any time I access the CD. From any drive.  Gave it to my girlfiend to check on her computer, and the CD seemed to run fine. Other CDs work just fine on my computer. Must be some kind of conflict, but what? Tried calling the AT&T number that suggested they could help with setup, and was first connected to the business center, they routed me to the laptop center, who routed me to the network center, who said they would have to bring in the Palm customer service and connected me to a Mac guy that dumped me back to a menu that took me to someone for whom English is a second language with whom I was trying to communicate over a very poor satellite connection. They made no sense anyway. telling me first that I couldn't have two desktops running (wrong, my girlfriend has my old Zire and the CD worked fine) and then insisting that the serial number on my device had to start with a P, when it clearly does not have any alpha characters in it. Gave up on that route of assistance. Managed to get the new ActiveSync installed from my girlfriends computer over the network. Great. Now let's get my 650 synced with Outlook (which I have not used at home) and see if we can move on. Nope. First I have to update Outlook 2000 from the old Win98 to my current XP. Find the old CD, and square that away. OK, now sync to Outlook. Nope. The sync program gives an error, saying it will only sync with Outlook 98, 2000, and XP(2002). Good grief. I have Outlook 2000, and the software apparently does not recognize it. If the Palm doesn't work, there is no reason for me to keep this phone, and I am very close to returning it and abandoning the Palm entirely when I upgrade to something that works, although I dread re-entering all that information.

Thanks for the feedback. Today I installed an Enterprise version of Office 2007 I purchased a while back, but had not yet installed. Microsoft presented a few challenges, but they were quickly resolved. I then downloaded the appropriate conduit from Palm, and synced the 650 with the handheld overwriting the computer. Then used Active Destop to sync the 750. Satisfied I had moved as much info as possible, I called AT&T and had them move the phone number to the new Treo.
Bonus! When the guy at AT&T called me on the new phone to verify it, he said it sounded better than my landline.
Sorry for the streaming paragraph. When it is late I tend to write like I think.
