Upgrading   SAP MDM from 1.0-2.0.

Hi all ,
Can anyone explain what will be responsibilites in the upgrade of MDM from 1.0 to 2.0 and what is ment by Variant Configuration and IPC configuration .
Thanks in advance ,
Regards
Reddy

Hi,
You can refer SAP note no 967088 for SRM MDM catlog1.0 configuration.
https://websmp130.sap-ag.de/sap(bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/sapnotes/index2.htm?numm=967088
the reason of upgrade is better features with catlog2.0  like product relationships(alternate or substitute items),better search experience, better performance.
You can also refer

also u can refer the upgrade guide

As mentioned earlier u require S ID for above notes.

  • Upgrading sap programs from one version to another version

    Hi All,
I want to know how to upgrade sap programs from one version to another version,Please help me...
    Regards,
    Raj.

The seriousness and the complexity of the upgrade is primarily dependent on the version of the older SAP system. The Upgrade from 4.6 -> 4.7 is relatively easier and faster than that of an upgrade from 3.0 -> 4.7.
Most of the <b>function modules</b> in the older system have been reworked and would be marked as obsolete in the target version. (This could be seen in EPC Error Analysis & warnings). For example Function modules like Upload, Download, WS_Download, WS_Upload,WS_File_Delete, WS_Filename_get, Popup_to_confirm_step etc.  These obsolete Fm's can be easily replaced with Fm's like Gui_Upload,Gui_Download, etc. There are few other complex Fms for which you have to do through R&D to find out the replacements.
Apart from replacing obsolete Fms one has to correct those <b>syntax errors</b> that may occur in the target version. There is a lot of variations in Syntax standards across versions.
Further more many <b>transactions</b> would have been reworked. Some Fields would be missing in the old system or a field would have been made a Key-Field in the new version , some screens would be missing or would have been addded. Also some <b>Tables</b> would have been flagged as obsolete and we need to find replacement for those obsolete Database tables.
It would be wise to do a R&D for all the programs in the system before Upgradation. This would really give us an idea about the complexity of the task and we can plan our Upgrade work effectively.
    regards,
    cartik

  • Process to Upgrade SAP HANA from SPS06 to SPS07 on distributed systems

    Hi Experts,
We have a requirement to upgrade our SAP HANA system system from SPS06 to SPS07, but I have below queries on the same:
    1) Do we need to consider any Notes before applying the upgrade for pre and post steps (as per my knowledge we have to consider post upgrade note: 1962472, are there any other too?)
    2) As per my knowledge, we just need to stop SAP app systems and then backup of HANA system
    3) Also we have a distributed environment in our landscape (three multiple hosts), what could be the upgrade approach, is it same as like single host environment (as /hana/shared will be the common to all distributed hosts)
Could anyone clarify my questions please.
Also for your information we have BW systems on top of HANA DB
Thanks very much in advance !

    Hi John,
Thank you for the response, our source and target levels are (Source - 1.00.69.00.385196 Target - 1.00.74.03.392810)
I just wanted to ask you one more quick question here, can't we upgrade the above mentioned versions in one go? or we need to upgrade in two steps like, at first upgrading from 1.00.69.00.385196 to 1.00.73.00.389160  and then to target level 1.00.74.03.392810?
Also as you said in distributed environment we can upgrade as same like single host environment, so it same like below approach?
    1) stopping the hana database
    2) navigate to media path and then execute hdblcm in gui or command line
    3) select option upgrading existing system
    4) provide the passwords and system poped-up inputs
    5) select the target levels of HANA components
    6) once upgrade done successfully, then need to upgrade hana client in all app servers
if my above assumption is correct, then I have couple of questions like:
    1) in which host we need to login and perform the upgrade? (as we are having three hosts- HANADB1, HANADB2, HANADB3) , is it okay we can do from any of the three hosts?
    2) Also if upgrade stopped at middle due to errors, do we have option like to start the upgrade from the point where it stop? else we need to restore the lat successful backup and then again need to perform the upgrade from starting point?
Sorry for asking many questions, i have done the upgrade in single host environment, but not on distributed. So wanted to be make sure with all points to action the activity.
Thanks for your help and patience in advance !

  • Upgrading SAP BW from version 7.0 to 7.4

    Hello Everyone,
We are going to upgrade the BW system from version 7.0 to 7.4. My question is that, we have 3.5 flow as well in our system, so would it cause any issue while upgrading or we should do the migration of 3.5 flow to 7.0 first and then we should go for upgrade. Does 7.4 supports 3.5 flow? Please suggest.

SAP BW 7.4 supports 3.5 flows and i guess upcoming version will also supports 3.5 flow.
The 3.5 flow will not create any issues during SAP BW upgrade. The migration of 3.5 to 7.0 is also not mandatory. The Application upgrade is taken care by SUM tool.It will not differentiate any flows (3.5/7.0). It will upgrade all BW objects to 7.4 versions.

  • Cannot open survey files from email after upgrading SAP gui to 720

Cannot open survey files attachments from email after upgrading SAP gui from 640  to 720.
Tried uninstalling & reinstalling but still error persists,
Error is : cannot split connection string: /h/server name/s/sapdp00 ( from SAP GUI security )
    Please advise.

Can't say I have seen this error before but if it is pertaining to the new security module within 7.20, which are much more strict then 6.40, I would look under the SAP GUI configuration options.  Focus on Security > Security settings.
There are pages and pages of rules which can be defined.
A test could be to disable all of them on an isolated machine and set them to allow and see if your problem persists.  If the error is resolved, it is something in there you need to address.

  • Help Required -- Can we use SQL Query to READ data from SAP MDM Tables

    Hi All,
    Please help.........
Can we use SQL Query to READ(No Creation/Updation/Deletion  just Read) Data from SAP MDM tables directly, without using MDM Syndicator.
Or direct SQL access to SAP MDM tables is not possible. Only through MDM Syndicator can we export data.
    Thanks in Advance
    Regards

All the tables you create in Repository comes under A2i_CM_Tables in Database named as your repository name. So the tables names are fields of table A2i_CM_Tables. Now i tried it but cant make it.
Now, I dont think its possible to extract all fields in tables and there values using select query. May be pure sql guy can do that or not.
But there is no relation of data extraction and syndicator. Data is viewed in Data Manager. and you can also store data in a file from DM also.

  • Data Import from SAP R/3 to SAP MDM 7.1 without SAP PI

    Hi All,
I have a requirement to import Vendor Master data from SAP R/3 to SAP MDM 7.1 on a regular basis. What are the Options available for data transfer between these two systems without any middleware(like SAP PI,etc). I checked the SAP Documentation and found the scenarios with SAP PI as middleware.
I have few very basic ideas:
    1) Will there be any way for SAP MDM to pick a file from certain location and load the data..
    2) Shall I use MDM ABAP API to write a program to connect to MDM Repository and schedule this at regular intervals to achieve the data transfer.
Pls suggest the best design approach..
    Thanks in advance.

    1) Will there be any way for SAP MDM to pick a file from certain location and load the data..
ANS : No, MDM will not pick up the file, file can be pick up from MDM Inbound folder and send from outbound folder for automize process and for MDM manual Process you can pick up and send  file to local desktop, network shared path
    2) Shall I use MDM ABAP API to write a program to connect to MDM Repository and schedule this at regular intervals to achieve the data transfer.
ANS : require to write code at ABAP side
so ABAP program will pick or send data file to MDM folder
    Note following point
    1. Require to write ABAP Program which will pick or send data file to MDM outbound / Inbound folder
    2. Require to do some technical setting for ABAP program at SAP side, technical person will help regarding this matter
Note : There are many disadvantage and time consuming procss, monitoring file and it is not advisable to go without any intermidiate software for e.g PI, Tibco

  • Upgrading SAP-EP(Java) from version 7.0 to 7.1/7.2

    Hi Experts,
We have an Application currently working on SAP EP(JAVA) 7.0.
We are looking forward to upgrade our EP from 7.0 to higher version (CE 7.1 or CE 7.2).
Kindly advise us about issues in this upgrade.
Also suggest if upgrade would be better option or simply updating the support packages (like EHP1 or EHP2) for EP7.0 would be better.
Also let me know the steps involved in performing upgrade/update.
Hope to get answers from you.
    regards,
    Rajeev Parmar

    Hello Rajeev,
In release 7.1 there has been a big change in the java architecture (there is no dispatcher anymore and the ICM is taking over the role).
I would suggest to have a look at the following documentation. There you can find a complete summary of changes in that release:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwce711core/helpdata/en/44/d958673ef05f4de10000000a11466f/frameset.htm
If you apply EHP1 to 7.0, you will obtain 7.01, which is the same release (no architectural changes). The enhancement package will provide some news in specific applications, but it is not an upgrade to a higher release.

Akhil, from 3rd link it looks like that this MDS( master data services) is same as MDM just the thing to be noticed is MDS term is used with SOA and MDM is an independent tool to provide MDS.

  • Problem in Posting Messages to MDM from SAP XI

    Helloo Experts,
First of all I want to tell you this is my first day working with SAP MDM. I donu2019t even know the basics of MDM.
I am trying to Post the Message from XI to SAP MDM Console. When I am trying to post a test message it appears success in XI and it is not visible in SAP MDM.
But, the logs of MD shows the Namespace and Interface were not registered. Can any one tell me how I can register my Namespaces in the SAP MDM console?
From some of the previous topics I can understand that to register any interface I need to have the below details
    Namespace :
    Interface :
    Bean :
    Method :
I can provide the Namespace and Interface which I am using to post the messages to SAP MDM console.
Can any one tell me where do I can find the Bean and Method of the particular inbound interface? I mean do I need to deploy the any files in MDM server so that it can understand
    Cheers!

    Hi Ramachandra,
I am trying to Post the Message from XI to SAP MDM Console. When I am trying to post a test message it appears success in XI and it is not visible in SAP MDM.
1.But, the logs of MD shows the Namespace and Interface were not registered. Can any one tell me how I can register my Namespaces in the SAP MDM console?
2.I am trying to Post the Message from XI to SAP MDM Console. When I am trying to post a test message it appears success in XI and it is not visible in SAP MDM.
3.But, the logs of MD shows the Namespace and Interface were not registered. Can any one tell me how I can register my Namespaces in the SAP MDM console?
firstly your Scenario be like this:
R/3-(Proxy OR IDOC)->XI (MSG-MAPPING) where sender side having R/3 structure should mapped with MDM Receiver side (Repository structure) --->MDM (File Adapter) which will ping at the ready folder of your inbound Port for your maintain Remote system.
    1. you dnt need to maintain NameSpaces in the MDM console afterall. you need to create Remote system, inbound port(where you define what kind of file it accept (Xml, Excel etc).
    2. For this firstly you need to Map your both source and target structure. Apart you also should need to have a save map in MDM Import Manager using this map( inwhich you map fields and values of your source file to target MDM Repository Structure) only then you could able to insert Data into MDM Data Manager.
    3. As i said above you dnt need to maintain NameSpaces in the MDM console afterall. Also in File as Adapter comm channel you define FTP sever IP machine, path of the inbound Ready folder .
i think you just start with Basics of MDM tools now:
    SAP Reference guides:
