Upgrading storage on retina 13"

I'm considering purchasing the MacBook Pro Retina 13" and find that on the Apple website, the base model (and the next one up) do not seem to allow me to configure them with a larger hard drive. However, the specs page indicates that they CAN be upgraded to a 1TB hard drive or 512 solid state drive.
Can I order the base model ($1,199) with a larger hard drive? If so, how?

In the Compare section it does list Up To 1TB but says nothing about on which 13" model that is offered on.
It sure does. Look at each column.
As it turns out it is only an option for the most expesive 13" model. So they have it right,
In one or the other place yes. It's wrong in one or the other place as the two places say two different things. In any case, it doesn't matter what we think, it's what Apple will sell the OP.

    Hi karlos16,
For the error message you are seeing, I found this article:
    iCloud: Troubleshooting creating backups
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3992
"This iPhone cannot be backed up because there is not enough iCloud storage available."
This message is displayed when there is not enough storage space available in your iCloud Storage to complete your backup. You can either reduce the amount of data you are backing up under Backup Options, or you can buy more storage.
For the issue with the iPhone appearing to be unresponsive, I recommend this article for troubleshooting:

  • Upgraded storage plan not working !!

I recently dowoaded an upgraded storage plan. it says I have 10 GB avaliable but it won't let me download anything because it says my storage is full. How can I fix this and be able to download things?

Purchasing storage in iCloud doesn't give you more space on your phone to download things, it only gives you more space in your iCloud account for your synced data, email and iCloud backups.
If you're out of space on your phone, you have to delete or sync something off of it to free up space for new downloads.

  • Upgrading Storage in Macbook Air

I've seen a few similar questions to this, but I wanted to get an exact answer. My beloved 17" MPB has finally retired due to a logic board failure. Rather than spend the money to purchase a replacement board, I've decided to invest in a new Mac. After much deliberation, I think I've decided on the Macbook Air; however, I am going to purchase all the upgrades possible for it including processor and memory. I also want to upgrade storage, but I've realised it's about $500 cheaper to upgrade everything on the 125GB MBA, and purchase an aftermarket SSD from another company and replace it myself than buying all the upgrades from Apple. I just want to verify that I will be able to do this, and that there isn't something blocking aftermarket SSD upgrades on the lower end Macbook Air.

RAM is most important, it cant be changed later.
As for the SSD, your idea is readily easy, yes.  OWC sells current PCIe SSD upgrades for the latest Macbook Air
Currently Apple uses Sandisk for 128GB SSD and Samsung for 256 and 512GB SSD.
good luck.   If you dont have the skills to do it, you can pay someone at a computer repair place $30 or so to install the new SSD module.

  • HT5503 I have paid to upgrade storage but I can not upgrade to ios 6

I have paid to upgrade storage but I can not upgrade to ios 6 please help

    You're welcome.
When I now try to update the software via my phone it is saying I need 2.5GB of storage to download software but the additional storage is showing on iCloud.
To download the software on your iPhone, which is not related to your iCloud storage capacity. This has to do with the amount of free storage space on your iPhone.
You need to free up some storage space on your iPhone. If you have any movies or TV shows avaialble on your iPhone, the fastest way to free up some storage space is by deleting a movie or two and the same for TV shows, and/or remove some music, and/or some apps that you rarely if every use. After iOS 6 is installed, you can re-transfer the movies or TV shows, or music and apps.

Apple have made this as difficult as possible. If you use Express Lane you cannot proceed without entering a hardware serial number which is still eligible for AppleCare. However julia22 managed to find a way round it - please see this post:

  • I upgraded storage and it put it on iPod instead of iPhone

I upgraded my iCloud storage and it posted the storage
To my iPod instead of my iPhone. How do I change that?
I need the extra storage to do the be update.

Upgraded storage goes to the account, not to a particular device.  If the iPod and iPhone are sharing the same account, then the additional storage applies to your iPhone too, even if it isn't showing yet.

  • Upgrade harddrive on retina macbook pro?

hi! i have the retina display macbook pro i bought about a year ago when it came out, and it has only 250 GB harddrive, because its this new SSD drive. now i was wondering if it by now is possible to upgrade the harddrive and get a bigger one?

You don't have a hard drive - you have flash storage on a daughter card of the main logic board.
If you're already out of your warranty period, you may want to search eBay for 512GB or 768GB flash storage cards. The only warrantied flash storage card I know of is from OWC -> http://eshop.macsales.com/item/OWC/SSDAP12R480/ - a 480GB flash storage card.

  • Can i upgrade storage by myself?

I have a macbook pro late 2013 model, so the latest model and i wanted to upgrade the storage from 128gb to much higher like 512gb, can i do that and how much would that cost? Thanks.

Currently, OWC only offers SSDs for Retina models MacBookPro10,1 and MacBookPro10,2. Your Late 2013 model should be a MacBookPro11,1, which is unsupported. Your only recourse would be to add external storage or sell it and replace it with a model with higher capacity.

How much storage do I have in iCloud Drive and how do I get more?
When you sign up for iCloud, you get 5 GB of free storage. Your iCloud storage is used for iCloud Backup, iCloud Drive, iCloud Photo Library, iCloud Mail (your @icloud.com email account), and data from apps that use iCloud. Your purchased music, apps, books, TV shows, and My Photo Stream don't count against your 5 GB of free storage.
You can manage your iCloud storage or buy more storage using your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, or PC.
