Upload using JSP

I would like to know, If anyone has an example how to upload a file to the server using JSP, I am aware of the class MultiPartRequest, I just need to know how to use it with JSP

Error in File uploading using jsp

I am tring to upload files to a mysql database using jsp.I have used BLOB type to store files.Iam using the JDBC driver mysql-connector-java-2.0-14-bin to connect the database with the jsp API.My problem is when i try to transfer a file of size which is less than the possible capacity through blob ,which is 1048576 bytes ( for example when a file of size 916KB is attempted to transfer) the following error is being generated.

Have you tried increasing the BLOB field greater than 1048576 or using a smaller file of say 1 or 2k as a test? There is no guarantee that the database will store the file with exactly the same size as the file on the filesystem, so the file might be more than 916k in the database.
Using BLOBs is a great way to destroy the performance of your database by the way :)

I thin that you asked the same question before and I premember that I ointed you to the ADF BC developer guide and the SRDemo if your application uses JSF. For plain JSP - if you Google for: JSP and file upload then you find plenty of sources for JSP and Struts.
The remaining part is how to stiff the file into a BPEL service on the middle tier. For this I recommended to ask your question on the BPEL forum

I'm not an applet programmer so I can't give you much advice there.
If you want to stream the file from the server before it's entirely uploaded, then I don't believe you can treat it like a normal file. If you're just wanting to throw it up there and then listen to it, then you can treat it like a normal file.
But again, I'm not entirely certain. You might be able to stream the start of the file from the server while you're still uploading the end of it, but it probably depends on what method you're using to do the transfer.

You need to use the Oracle jdbc driver. Apparently, the Weblogic JDBC driver is being selected:
weblogic.jdbc.rmi.SerialPreparedStatement
The Oracle JDBC classes can be found in <ORACLE_HOME>/jdbc/lib/See <ORACLE_HOME>/jdbc/readme.txt for how to specify the correct class path in the application.
I would have thought that the oracle JDBC driver would have been selected (if in the classpath) or an exception would be raised if the Oracle JDBC driver was not found.... because the code should include:
DriverManager.registerDriver(new oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver());
This should load the Oracle jdbc driver and classes, not the weblogic ones. IF the Oracle JDBC drivers are not found, an exception should be raised...

So you've copypasted this code from somwhere and are expecting our support on the code, instead of the author's support? That's sad.
I recommend you to look to the Apache Commons FileUpload API [1]. Then you don't need to write (or copypaste) a multipart parser yourself. Putting business logic in JSP files is also bad practice by the way. Use Java classes for it instead (Servlets, Filters, Beans, Utilityclasses, etc).

To understand the actual code, it might help a lot to first read and understand the HTML spec about multipart request data and read the API documentations of the Java classes involved, e.g. the java.io API.

A JSP should not be involved in this. The browser will offer a way to specify a file, and the target of the form should be a servlet that can handle multipart uploads. JSPs should not process any input.

Hi, am using jsp with access database and want to upload as in a profile picture for any profile on the site[i mean depending on the user's convenience] ..
I just have a code which helps select the image from the client's machine n gets its address..but then how to use it in a form or something so that it can be submitted and inserted in the database?
Any idea? I d prefer not using servelet.. but if it just cannot be done without servelet then ok can suggest with that too.

Don't put business logic in JSP. That's what servlets are for (and EJB).

How to upload an html file using jsp and jdbc

im trying to upload an html page using JSP and jdbc. but of no success.
my aim is to keep some important html pages in the database.the file size can vary.the file has to be selected from a local machine (through the browser) and uploaded to a remote machine(where the databse resides).

When uploading a file, I use a byte array as a temporary buffer..
So, you should then be able to store the byte array in the
database as binary data.

..... and this method looks like you dont even have
to store the file in a byte array, you can just give
it the input stream.
ps.setBinaryStream(int, inputStream, int);
You may have to make several attempts at this. I have
uploaded a file and temporarily stored it in a byte array,
but have never from there stored it in the DB as binary
data.. but this looks like it'll work.
