Uploading in Sharepoint Library

When I save my training, demo project and upload it to our
SharePoint library it doesn't just upload the demo. The entire
Captivate application appearswith a listing of all the projects
created. what am I doing incorrectly?

There is a limitation set by Microsoft on the URL path length of 256 characters, refer - https://technet.microsoft.com/en-in/library/ff919564(v=office.14).aspx
This restriction is with IE browser and you will not see this in other browsers.

    Hello Everyone,
    My requirement is to capturing images from camera and uploading to sharepoint library automatically. No manual uploading will take place.

    Hi,
    From your description, my understanding is that you want to capturing images from camera and uploading to sharepoint library automatically automatically upload images to SharePoint library.
    You will save images in your local computer after capturing visitors’ image. You could develop a custom timer job to periodically get pictures from the local folder in your computer. Please refer to this article:

  • SharePoint Library - If I save file from Excel File Save As - then I always get "File already exists. Do you want to replace it?" - Upload works fine though.

    Hi there,
    In my SP 2010 document library - When I try to save an Excel file from File > Save As menu to the document library it always prompts me "File already exists. Do you want to replace it?" even though the file does not exist in that document library.
    To the same document library - if I upload a file then it accepts it all fine.
    Any clues why I cannot save files using File > Save As menu?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    As I understand, the notification pops up when you save an excel file to SharePoint library, while when directly upload file to library, there is no wrong.
    Please confirm if the issue occurs to other machines.
    Please open Microsoft Office Upload Center on the issue machine, then click settings, clear cache via checking Delete files from the Office Document Cache when they are closed.
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-in/excel-help/office-document-cache-settings-HA010388664.aspx
    If the issue occurs to client, I’d recommend you also ask the question in Excel forum:

    Hi Poomani,
    For troubleshooting your issue, please let's verify the followings:
    Whether other pdf file which are not converted from "TIFF" and contain Chinese char could be uploaded into the SharePoint Document library.
    Whether other pdf file which are converted from "TIFF" and don't contain Chinese char could be uploaded into the SharePoint Document library.
    Please upload these pdf files into other libraries, compare the result.
    Please check the log file to find more information about this issue. The path of the log file is:

  • How can i get a full url of video uploaded in asset library on sharepoint 2013

    Hi All,
    I have videos in SharePoint 2013 Asset Library, now i want display that videos in my SharePoint webpage as a webpart.
    Now, how can i get a full url of video uploaded in asset library?
    Thanks in Advance!

    The Asset library does a pretty good job of hiding the full URL. An "asset" item is actually a folder. The folder contains the video and support files like preview thumbnails.
    So, if you upload a video named butterfly.wmv to http://yourSite/sites/demo/Assets the path to the video would be http://yourSite/sites/demo/Assets/butterfly/butterfly.wmv. If the user changed the name while uploading the file to "Pretty bugs"
    the URL would then be http://yourSite/sites/demo/Assets/Pretty%20Bugs/butterfly.wmv.
    Probably the best way to explore these hidden folders and discover the "real" URL is to use SharePoint Designer 2013.
    Launch SharePoint Designer and open your site.
    In the Navigation area click "All Files". (If you don't see All Files then your administrators may have partially locked down SPD.)
    In the list of files and folders click the Assets library.
    Find and click your video (you will see the "Name" as entered in the file's properties, not the file name.)
    Find the video file, right-click it and click Properties.
    Copy the Location.
    If you just want to display the video in the page:
    Edit the page
    Click INSERT
    Click Web Part
    From the Media and Content category select Media Web Part and click Add.
    Edit the web part (click the web part's dropdown)
    From the MEDIA ribbon click Change Media
    Click From SharePoint and navigate to your assets library and pick a video

  • Upload the document from other site to sharepoint library

    Hi All,
    I am having folder with document in want to upload the bulk of that document to SharePoint library.
    Please let me know how can i do.
    Thank you,
    Sowjanya.

    Hi.
    1. Open the location of the documents to bring to SharePoint in a windows explorer. The open the document library located in SharePoint.
    2. Once the document library is viewed, on the upper left hand corner of the page, click on the Library tab. This will display the ribbon controls for the document library.
    3. Within the ribbon controls, locate the Open with Explorer then click it. This should open the document library in windows explorer.
    4. Select the files that you want to copy in the windows explorer then copy or dray those files to the explorer of the document library.
    5. That should be it unless you have set properties in your document library that needs to be filled up. Do not forget to publish/check in the files that you have uploaded.
    Hope this helps.
    Cheers.

    Well in my project there is no web.config because I used the example in the link above. No is there another way to change the message size (e.g. by code)?
    Thanks!!
    Best,
    Chris

    from browser, it will upload file using server object model. you can change the upload size for same in CA.
    as far as uploading file programatically using service, you can run the below script on server and it will resolve the issue
    $ws = [Microsoft.SharePoint.Administration.SPWebService]::ContentService
    $ws.ClientRequestServiceSettings.MaxReceivedMessageSize = 262144000
    $ws.ClientRequestServiceSettings.MaxParseMessageSize = 262144000
    $ws.Update()
    Note: 262144000 = 250 MB

  • How to convert .doc files to .docx in a sharepoint library programmatically.

    Is there any possibility to Convert .doc files to .docx in a sharepoint document library.
    I have thousands and lakhs of .doc files and I need to automate to convert those .doc files to .docx with an automation script or powershell script or doing it programmatically.
    Can someone help me get through this.
    Thanks
    Gayatri

    Hello Gayatri,
    You can convert files from doc to docx using following options
    Option 1
    in bulk using  Office File Converter (OFC) and Version Extraction Tool. Please refer below url for reference - http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc179019.aspx
    Option 2 - PowerShell
    please refer url -http://blogs.msdn.com/b/ericwhite/archive/2008/09/19/bulk-convert-doc-to-docx.aspx
    Convert DOC to DOCX using PowerShell
    I was tasked with taking a large number of .DOC and .RTF files and converting them to .DOCX. The files were then going to be imported into a SharePoint site. So I went out on the web looking for PowerShell scripts to accomplish this. There are plenty to
    choose from.
    All the examples on the web were the same with some minor modifications. Most of them followed this pattern:
    $word = new-object -comobject word.application
    $word.Visible = $False
    $saveFormat = [Enum]::Parse([Microsoft.Office.Interop.Word.WdSaveFormat],”wdFormatDocumentDefault”);
    #Get the files
    $folderpath = “c:\doclocation\*”
    $fileType = “*doc”
    Get-ChildItem -path $folderpath -include $fileType | foreach-object
    $opendoc = $word.documents.open($_.FullName)
    $savename = ($_.fullname).substring(0,($_.FullName).lastindexOf(“.”))
    $opendoc.saveas([ref]“$savename”, [ref]$saveFormat);
    $opendoc.close();
    #Clean up
    $word.quit()
    After trying out several I started to convert some test documents. All went well until the files were uploaded to SharePoint. The .RTF files were fine but even though the .DOC fiels were now .DOCX files they did not allow for all the functionality of .DOCX
    to be used.
    After investigating a little further it turns out that when doing a conversion from .DOC to .DOCX the files are left in compatibility mode. The files are smaller, but they don’t allow for things like coauthors.
    So back to the drawing board and the web and I found a way to set compatibility mode off. The problem was that it required more steps including saving and reopening the files. In order to use this method I had to add a compatibility mode object:
    $CompatMode = [Enum]::Parse([Microsoft.Office.Interop.Word.WdCompatibilityMode], “wdWord2010″)
    And then change the code inside the {} from above to:
    $opendoc = $word.documents.open($_.FullName)
    $savename = ($_.fullname).substring(0,($_.FullName).lastindexOf(“.”))
    $opendoc.saveas([ref]“$savename”, [ref]$saveFormat);
    $opendoc.close();
    $converteddoc = get-childitem $savename
    $opendoc = $word.documents.open($converteddoc.FullName)$opendoc.SetCompatibilityMode($compatMode);
    $opendoc.save()
    $opendoc.close()
    It worked, but I didn’t like it. So back to the web again and this time I stumbled across the real way to do it. Use the Convert method. No one else seems to have used this in any of the examples but it is a much cleaner way to do it then the compatibility
    mode setting. So this is how I changed my code and now all the files come in to SharePoint as true .DOCX files.
    $word = new-object -comobject word.application
    $word.Visible = $False
    $saveFormat = [Enum]::Parse([Microsoft.Office.Interop.Word.WdSaveFormat],”wdFormatDocumentDefault”);
    #Get the files
    $folderpath = “c:\doclocation\*”
    $fileType = “*doc”
    Get-ChildItem -path $folderpath -include $fileType | foreach-object
    $opendoc = $word.documents.open($_.FullName)
    $savename = ($_.fullname).substring(0,($_.FullName).lastindexOf(“.”))
    $word.Convert()
    $opendoc.saveas([ref]“$savename”, [ref]$saveFormat);
    $opendoc.close();
    #Clean up
    $word.quit()
