Urgent Help on a Java Menus

I am doing this simple program. where i have created three menu's and i want it to pop-up a seperate window when i press any of the menu items. till now i have written this code and created the menus, can you please tell me how to attach actionlisteners to each of the menu items, so that when one menuitem is selected it leads to a another frame performing a different function. It is also not showing the color i am using in the code.

  • Urgent Help: Basic Level Java Programming

    Hi,
    I am a student taking Java classes, and I need help for a few questions of our Christmas Homework. They are pretty basic stuff and not that hard to do, given that you have the required knowledge. It is really urgent and important, so I would really appreciate it if someone can help.
    I am putting here the hardest question in the homework as an example. As I have said, if you are easily able to do this question, please contact me.
    "Write a java application that prints the following diamond shape. You may use output statements that print a single asterisk (*), a single space or a single newline character. Maximize your use of repetition (with nested for statements) and minimize the number of output statements."
    I cannot draw the diamond here but it goes like this: First line 1 star, second line 3 stars, third line 5 stars, fourth line 7 stars, fifth line 9 stars, and it descends the same way (9 7 5 3 1) to complete the diamond.
    Thank you.

    Better that you take a shot at it and let people advise you on how to correct problems.

    Think about the steps you'd follow to type this in yourself and then write them out in Java.

  • Urgent help needed in Java Strings

    Hi guys/gals..
    I want to know how to i Capitalize onlt the first Alphabet of a String.
    Eg if i hav the string "swing". i need it as "Swing" ie the first alpha shud be capitalized. How to do tat. The Java method of toUpperCase wud be of now use since it capitalizes the whole string.
    Tks.
    Divya...

    I use this. Maybe not the most optimal way, but it works :)
         public static String capString(String inp)
          byte[] buf = inp.getBytes();
          // first character is between 'a' and 'z', substract 32 from it to capitalize the character
          if(buf[0] >= 97 && buf[0] <= 122)
           buf[0] -= 32;
          return new String(buf);

    I need urgent help for correcting a piece of code.
    I have written a piece of code for building a gui with some buttons, drawing some geometric shapes.The code consists of two files called Graph and Frame.

    Hi,
    You are very lucky that I'm currently boored. You should never tag a question as urgent. It might be urgent to you, but not to us who answer. And you should also use code formatting when you post code (see the formatting tips, or use the code-button).
    I made some changes to your Graph class. The most important thing is the abstract draw method that I added to the GeomFigur class.

  • URGENT HELP NEEDED!!! (Almost a matter of life and death)

    Well, it's more of a matter of failing a course or not...
    Anyway, my Java professor gave us some labs to do. I know Java front and back, at least, whatever version I learned a few years back. This is my first tenure with the Scanner object, and it's messing me up.
    I'm using Eclipse for my project. I have three files in the source folder, ABC_Manufacturing.java, mseast.dat and mswest.dat. Now, when I try to instanciate a new Scanner object, it won't find the files:
    Scanner east = new Scanner(new FileReader("mseast.dat"));
    Scanner west = new Scanner(new File("mswest.dat"));
    I'm trying two seperate ways to do this. Neither are working, this is the error I get:
    Exception in thread "main" java.lang.Error: Unresolved compilation problems:
         Unhandled exception type FileNotFoundException
         Unhandled exception type FileNotFoundException
         at ABC_Manufacturing.main(ABC_Manufacturing.java:38)
    Now, I added these files OVER and OVER again. I added them. I created new files and pasted the contents in there. I used .txt files. All the same error. It's like it just won't take the time out to look for the files that are RIGHT IN THE DAMN PROJECT! Then I tried using a complete path, using C:\Java\whatever. SAME ERROR!!!!
    Please, I need urgent help. This is due tomorrow at noon, and I have no idea what to do at this point. I can't really continue, because at this point its just looking at what prints out and formatting it, and I don't want to do that without testing to see if my code to convert the file data into arrays work. You dig? Thanks for any and all help, and I'm going to kill my professor...she spent a week going over parallel arrays but did nothing to show us how to import files into projects or use the scanner class. Also it doesn't help that at uni we have to use emacs, which I don't use at home.

    d00erino wrote:
    This is the the main class, so far:
    public static void main(String[] args)throws IOException
              Scanner west = new Scanner(new File("mswest.dat"));
              int [] eastParts = new int[13];
              int [] eastQuant = new int[13];
              int [] westParts = new int[17];
              int [] westQuant = new int[17];
              System.out.print(west.nextInt());
    And I didn't ignore that one guy (sorry, don't remember your username) I tried you and the other guy's responce. Both didn't work. I dunno how to get around errors. Figures, you don't learn that in the course but she'll spend a week on parallel arrays...Ok, well that can't possibly be complaining with the same error message you got before, so now you need to be (more) specific about what "didn't work" means.

    Also, try if the URL with the slash:
    http://domain.com/form60/java/oracle/forms/registry/Registry.dat
    does work when you just paste it in a browser. It should download the Registry.dat file

  • Urgent help needed with un-removable junk mail that froze Mail!!

    Urgent help needed with un-removable junk mail that froze Mail?
    I had 7 junk mails come in this morning, 5 went straight to junk and 2 more I junked.
    When I clicked on the Junk folder to empty it, it froze Mail and I can't click on anything, I had to force quit Mail and re-open it. When it re-opens the Junk folder is selected and it is froze, I can't do anything.
    I repaired permissions, it did nothing.
    I re-booted my computer, on opening Mail the In folder was selected, when I selected Junk, again, it locks up Mail and I can't select them to delete them?
    Anyone know how I can delete these Junk mails from my Junk folder without having to open Mail to do it as it would appear this will be the only solution to the problem.

    Hi Nigel
    If you hold the Shift key when opening the mail app, it will start up without any folders selected & no emails showing. Hopefully this will enable you to start Mail ok.
    Then from the Mail menus - choose Mailbox-Erase Junk Mail . The problem mail should now be in the trash. If there's nothing you want to retain from the Trash, you should now choose Mailbox- Erase Deleted Messages....
    If you need to double-check the Trash for anything you might want to retain, then view the Trash folder first, before using Erase Junk Mail & move anything you wish to keep to another folder.
    The shift key starts Mail in a sort of Safe mode.

  • Urgent Help Required for Connect Four Game

    Hi all,
    I am a student and I have a project due 20th of this month, I mean May 20, 2007 after 8 days. The project is about creating a Connect Four Game. I have found some code examples on the internet which helped me little bit. But there are lot of problems I am facing developing the whole game. I have drawn the Board and the two players can play. The players numbers can fill the board, but I have problem implementing the winner for the game. I need to implement the hasWon() method for Horizontal win, Vertical win and Diagonal win. I also found some code examples on the net but I was unable to make it working. I have 5 classes and one interface which I m implementing. The main problem is how to implement the hasWon() method in the PlayGame class below with Horizontal, vertical and diagonal moves.
    Sorry there is so much code.
    This the interface I must implement, but now I am only implementing the int move() of this interface. I will implement the rest later after solving the winner problem with your help.

    Hi,
    Thanks for your help but I really don't understand the table lookup algorithm. Could you please send me some code to implement that.
    I will send you the formatted code as well
    Thanks for your help.

    Sorry AMreso, I've already tried this and it didn't work for me:
    After reviewing the FAQ:
    https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/error-u44m1p7-installing-upd ates-ccm.html
    I uninstalled Photoshop CC and re-installed it, after doing so the installation started the patch but failed it..

  • Sending Details -- URGENT HELP REQUIRED! ! !

    Hi,
    I have a programming problem which I need urgent help with....
    1.) I firstly have a HTML file which a user will fill out 3 fields on and submit.
    2.) A servlet will get these parameters, validate some information and update a database.
    Problem Part Needs to send on these details to another servlet which will be located on a seperate server.
    Is there a way of doing a submit like function without an actual submit, as this will all be done away from the user.
    Was initially going to use:
    ctx = getServletContext();
    rd = ctx.getRequestDispatcher("https://localhost:8443/servlet/FileName");But found out you can only do this with files in the same immediate location!
    3.) Next servlet will accept in the same details as 2, and do some more functions and database updating. Before again sendin on some details to another servlet! (so same problem as in 2).
    4.) Accepts in details from 3 and updaes database!
    So does anbody have any ideas how this can be done??
    Any help greatly appreciated.
    DBM.

    Whats so wrong with posting in more than one forum? I
    need to get this done in the next few hours and im not
    exaclt the most qualified java developer in the
    world!!
    sorry if its such a crime! :o(Should be obvious. You post exact question in forum A and B. Person A answers you on forum A. Person B, not knowing you were already answered because he's looking at the post on forum B, answers you on forum B, thus having wasted his time.

  • Urgent Help with network access to FileOutputStream

    URGENT HELP NEEDED GUYS...I am stuck on this past 2 days. I tried several alternatives but to vain.
    I am trying to access a Folder on a user's computer which is lying in a different Domain.
    For accessing this folder, I have the following information with me.
    Domain name, PC name, folder name, windows username, windows password.
    Note: This username and password will give me rights to read + write to that folder.
    How to use these information to open a fileoutputstream ? Does the java.io package allow programs to pass a username, password , domainname, pcname and then the folder and filename to create/read/write files..
    Pls. suggest code examples. Sometime back I posted this query but didnt get an answer to my satisfaction. I have tried at my end but unsuccessful yet. Help would be appreciated.
    I am trying this on a Windows File System and Network domain
    THIS IS V. URGENT
    Thanks,

    Hi HJK,
    I am referring to the last reply of yours.
    " Hi, there are three approaches I can think of offhand:
    1) make sure the user-context under which you run the java app has the right to access the remote drive.
    2) Do the network connection in a batch or c program and call that at the start of your java app with Runtime#exec.
    3) Write some c/c++ code to open the connection and integrate that via JNI.
    Let me know what (other) solution you came up with in the end!
    Regarding the 1st.
    I am supposed to write a remote installation utility actually. There are around 200 PC(s) in a network on which I need to copy these java class files. My problem statement is such that at runtime I only have username, passwords, domain access. I am not supposed to map any drives. Its supposed to be done dynamically. No manual intervention required. :(
    How do I do the network connection in a batch mode ? Let me know that?
    If 2nd option can be done, probably I can think of action-3 at the moment I am quite blurr :(
