urgent insert Date with Time into Access Database

i found the following codes from the forum to insert date into microsoft access database:
java.sql.Date date = new java.sql.Date((new java.util.Date()).getTime())
stmt.executeUpdate("INSERT INTO Testing " +"VALUES (#"+date+"#)");
but i need to insert the date together with its time so may i know how can i do it?

thanks alot i works... but it allow only one value to be inserted.
so i try the codes below:
Timestamp ts=new Timestamp(tryDate.getTime());
PreparedStatement p = connection.prepareStatement("insert into testing values(?,?)");
p.setTimestamp(1,ts);
p.setString(2,theMsg.getContent());
p.executeUpdate();
and error is this:
java.sql.SQLException: [Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Number of query values and destination fields are not the same.

  • Inserting Date and Time into a date field

    Okay I am a bit of a Oracle newbie. I am trying to insert the following date and time into a date field and I don't know how to format the second part of the to_Date() function.
    Date/Time: 5/29/2003 7:58:45 PM
    Thanks,
    Branden

    I believe you would want
    to_date( '5/29/2003 7:58:45 PM', 'MM/DD/YYYY HH:MI:SS AM' )
    Note that tahiti.oracle.com has all of Oracle's documentation, including the very useful SQL & PL/SQL reference manuals, available for free.

  • Insert date and time into write to spreadsheet

    Easy question here
    I need save 4 arrays of data and insert the date and time that it was taken (LV 8.6)
    for example
    9/4/09 10:00:01 AM  4  6  7  2
    9/4/09 10:00:02 AM  4  6  7  2
    9/4/09 10:00:03 AM  4  6  7  2
    9/4/09 10:00:04 AM  4  6  7  2
    Any ideas, I can't wire the timestamp or date/time string right into the create array
    Thanks
    Chris
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Ok
    the basic problem that I see is the the LabVIEW TimeStamp type is a cluster.  Converting it to a dbl gives you a value in seconds elapsed since 1904 Jan 1 12:00AM GMT and, your spreadsheet cannot interprate that (or display that) as a "TIME."   So, you want to convert it to a string (easy TS->String check the help for format options) BUT, you might want to pass all of your data as numbers into your spreadsheet so you can post-calculate or graph other outputs vs. TIME!  This little chunk of code .....
     converts a LV Timestamp to a number that Excel interperates as "the amount of days elapsed since 0 Jan 1900 @ 12:00AM LOCAL."  You will need to format the cell in Excel to display it as a date-time But it can be operated on and graphed against with only Excel's limitations (Excel followed the Lotus bug of erroneously assuming 1900 was a leap year, and Leap seconds are unrecognized)
    Enjoy!

  • How to insert date with timestamp into table values

    hi,
    I have a table
    create table abc1(dob date);
    insert into abc1 values (to_date(sysdate,'RRRR/MM/DD HH24:MI:SS'))
    but when i see in data base it shows as normal date without time stamp.
    Is it possible to insert into back end with timestamp.
    Thanks..

    First, SYSDATE is a DATE already, no need to convert it to a DATE using the TO_DATE() function.
    The date ALWAYS has a time component, whether or not it is displayed is up to your NLS settings. for example:
    SQL> CREATE TABLE ABC1(DOB DATE);
    Table created.
    SQL> ALTER SESSION SET NLS_DATE_FORMAT='MM/DD/YYYY';
    Session altered.
    SQL> INSERT INTO ABC1 VALUES(SYSDATE);
    1 row created.
    SQL> SELECT * FROM ABC1;
    DOB
    02/04/2010
    SQL> ALTER SESSION SET NLS_DATE_FORMAT='MM/DD/YYYY HH24:MI:SS';
    Session altered.
    SQL> SELECT * FROM ABC1;
    DOB
    02/04/2010 12:54:57
    SQL> DROP TABLE ABC1;
    Table dropped.

  • How to insert the sysdate time into the database

    hi all,
    when i execute the following query,
    insert into table_name
    (date_field)
    values
    (to_date(sysdate, 'yyyy/mm/dd hh24:mi:ss'));
    The value is inserted as 08-02-12 12:00:00. In this query, it always stores the default time as 12 a.m.
    But i need to insert the original system time not the default one.
    please help me how to rectify it.

    I do not understand as to why you are using the to_date function on sysdate since sysdate is already in date format.
    If date_field is of the data type date, then the following dml should work.
    insert into table_name(date_field) values (sysdate);
    In case date_field is a varchar2 field and you want to store the date and time in a string format, then the following statement should work.
    insert into table_name (date_field)
    values (to_char(sysdate, 'yyyy/mm/dd hh24:mi:ss'));

  • Import/insert data from XML into Oracle database tables?

    Hi. (I am using JDeveloper 10.1.3.3.0 and Oracle 10g)
    I have been able to export the data from one of my database tables by using a View Object and .writeXML.
    Now, I want to take an xml file that is formatted in the same way as what is spit out by the writeXML and put that info in my database table. I followed online examples and have tried using .readXML like so:
    Element element = XMLDoc.getDocumentElement();
    vo.readXML(element, -1);
    I know it is sort of working, because at first I got an error message that one of the required attributes was missing. So, I added that attribute to my xml file and ran my code. No errors. But, I checked my database, and the new records were not added.
    Is there something I have done wrong? Or is there perhaps something I left out? I also noticed there were several versions of readXML like readFromXML. Which one should I use and how?
    Thanks.

    KUBA, I changed my code to match your example:
    DocumentBuilder db = DocumentBuilderFactory.newInstance().newDocumentBuilder();
    File xmlFile = new File("C:/myfilehere.xml");
    Document doc = db.parse(xmlFile);
    Element element = doc.getDocumentElement();
    vo.readXML(element, -1);
    vo.getDBTransaction().commit();
    I still get no errors, but my database table has no new records.
    Any ideas why?
    Thanks.

  • Inserting Current Date with time stamp in oracle database

    Hi Experts,
                     I want to insert the current Date and time stamp in a field in the Oracle Database Table.
    I am able to insert date but i am not able to insert the date with time stamp. Any Suggestions??
    Thanks
    Naveen

    Naveen,
    Do you want to get current date (from sysdate) with a specific format or transform a value containing a date/time value to insert it in ORACLE ?
    Usually, you insert current datetimestamp in a date field using this :
    TO_DATE(sysdate,'dd/mm/yyyy hh:mi:ss')
    you may have to tweak the format pattern ('dd/mm....') according to your needs
    if you want to transform a date, use something like this:
    TO_DATE(your_date,your_format)
    but make sure your format is compliant with your date, ie
    TO_DATE('31/12/2008','MM/DD/YYYY') could raise error (litteral does not match) cuz ORACLE can't recognize 31 as a month pattern

  • How to insert a image file into oracle database

    hi all
    can anyone guide me how to insert a image file into oracle database now
    i have created table using
    create table imagestore(image blob);
    but when inserting i totally lost don't know what to do how to write query to insert image file

    Hi I don't have time to explain really, I did have to do this a while ago though so I will post a code snippet. This is using the commons file upload framework.
    Firstly you need a multi part form data (if you are using a web page). If you are not using a web page ignore this bit.
    out.println("<form name=\"imgFrm\" method=\"post\" enctype=\"multipart/form-data\" action=\"FileUploadServlet?thisPageAction=reloaded\" onSubmit=\"return submitForm();\"><input type=\"FILE\" name=\"imgSource\" size='60' class='smalltext' onKeyPress='return stopUserInput();' onKeyUp='stopUserInput();' onKeyDown='stopUserInput();' onMouseDown='noMouseDown(event);'>");
    out.println("   <input type='submit' name='submit' value='Submit' class='smalltext'>");
    out.println("</form>"); Import this once you have the jar file:
    import org.apache.commons.fileupload.*;Now a method I wrote to upload the file. I am not saying that this is correct, or its the best way to do this. I am just saying it works for me.
    private boolean uploadFile(HttpServletRequest request, HttpSession session) throws Exception {
            boolean result = true;
            String fileName = null;
            byte fileData[] = null;
            String fileUploadError = null;
            String imageType = "";
            String error = "";
            DiskFileUpload fb = new DiskFileUpload();
            List fileItems = fb.parseRequest(request);
            Iterator it = fileItems.iterator();
            while(it.hasNext()){
                FileItem fileItem = (FileItem)it.next();
                if (!fileItem.isFormField()) {
                    fileName = fileItem.getName();
                    fileData = fileItem.get();
                    // Get the imageType from the filename extension
                    if (fileName != null) {
                        int dotPos = fileName.indexOf('.');
                        if (dotPos >= 0 && dotPos != fileName.length()-1) {
                            imageType = fileName.substring(dotPos+1).toLowerCase();
                            if (imageType.equals("jpg")) {
                                imageType = "jpeg";
            String filePath = request.getParameter("FILE_PATH");
            session.setAttribute("filePath", filePath);
            session.setAttribute("fileData", fileData);
            session.setAttribute("fileName", fileName);
            session.setAttribute("imageType", imageType);
            return result;
         } And now finally the method to actually write the file to the database:
    private int writeImageFile(byte[] fileData, String fileName, String imageType, String mode, Integer signatureIDIn, HttpServletRequest request) throws Exception {
            //If the previous code found a file that can be uploaded then
            //save it into the database via a pstmt
            String sql = "";
            UtilDBquery udbq = getUser(request).connectToDatabase();
            Connection con = null;
            int signatureID = 0;
            PreparedStatement pstmt = null;
            try {
                udbq.setUsePreparedStatements(true);
                con = udbq.getPooledConnection();
                con.setAutoCommit(false);
                if((!mode.equals("U")) || (mode.equals("U") && signatureIDIn == 0)) {
                    sql = "SELECT SEQ_SIGNATURE_ID.nextval FROM DUAL";
                    pstmt = con.prepareStatement(sql);
                    ResultSet rs = pstmt.executeQuery();
                    while(rs.next()) {
                       signatureID = rs.getInt(1);
                    if (fileName != null && imageType != null) {
                        sql = "INSERT INTO T_SIGNATURE (SIGNATURE_ID, SIGNATURE) values (?,?)";
                        InputStream is2 = new ByteArrayInputStream(fileData);
                        pstmt = con.prepareStatement(sql);
                        pstmt.setInt(1, signatureID);
                        pstmt.setBinaryStream(2, is2, (int)(fileData.length));
                        pstmt.executeUpdate();
                        pstmt.close();
                        con.commit();
                        con = null;
                if(mode.equals("U") && signatureIDIn != 0) {
                    signatureID = signatureIDIn.intValue();
                    if (fileName != null && imageType != null) {
                        sql = "UPDATE T_SIGNATURE SET SIGNATURE = ? WHERE SIGNATURE_ID = ?";
                        InputStream is2 = new ByteArrayInputStream(fileData);
                        pstmt = con.prepareStatement(sql);
                        pstmt.setBinaryStream(1, is2, (int)(fileData.length));

  • Insert Date and Time doesn't update

    i am inserting a date and time in my numbers documents so that i know which paper copy is the most current. i do this by going to Insert pulldown and selecting Data and Time while in a Footer Cell.
    this data does not update upon re-opening the file and i end up printing multiple copies over weeks and months with simply the date that I inserted the Date and Time into the footer.
    is there a way to do this so that it updates?
    TIA

    As most of the times,
    this kind of question is answered in Numbers User Guide.
    When you insert a date_time value in a cell, you insert a fixed value.
    If you want a living one, you must insert a formula.
    =NOW()
    or
    =TODAY()
    would achieve your goal.

  • I want to use the SQL query IF EXIST to update or insert data in a ms access table, but it doesn´t work

    Hi,
    I want to use the SQL query IF EXIST to update or insert data in a ms access table, but it doesn´t work
    (fault number -2147217900)
    I want to search for a value in a ms access table , if it exist i want to update it, if not i want to insert a new row.
    Working with LabView 7.1, database con. toolset.
    Who can HELP?
    Thanks a lot
    Marco

    Hello,
    I think that If exist is not a standar SQL command (I know it exists I think in Oracle and SQL server), MS access doesn't support it, so I think the best way to do it is first make a Select and then either an Update or an insert, sorry...

  • Insert a large file into a Database?

    I have the following situation and am unsure of the best solution.
    I have to do an update on a record within an MS SQL Server database, adding files that are potentially 50mb plus in size.
    Basically I would like to read this file into the database bit by bit so as not to get OutOfMemoryExceptions thrown whilst attempting to load a large file into memory.
    Is there a way I can open the file and read x number of bytes at a time into the database, say with the FileInputStream.read(byte[]) in a while loop.

    My preference would be to save the path of the file to the Database, but the requirements state the file has to be stored within a Database!
    My problem is I am not sure if the preparedStatement.setBinaryStream() will work the way I would like.
    I think this:
    preparedStatement.setBinaryStream( 1, in.read(), 50000);
    will just read the whole file into memory and error with OutOfMemoryException. Or will it read in a byte at a time?
    I would like to Do Something like:
    byte[] data = new byte[1024];
    preparedStatement.setBinaryStream( 1,
    while((eof = in.read(data)) != -1), 50000);
    which obviously will not work, but I hope you get what I would like to try and do.
    Put in words "pass small portions of the file from the Disk through JDBC into the database till the End Of File is reached".
    Thanks for the response in advance.

    Hi,
    I know the function "write to spreadsheet file.vi"
    can append the data
    to file. You can use the "concatenate strings" to display the date,
    time as well as data... Hope this help.

  • Insert date and time

    This is a simple question but one that has been bugging me in a small way. If on a spreadsheet I press 'insert date and time' all I get is that day and date for example saturday 10th July 2010 and no time.
    Anyone offer an explanation for this?
    Thanks
    Mike

    Hello Peggy
    The problem was already reported to Bugs Hunters :
    +Bug ID# 7862838.+
    +In Numbers and Pages there is the function+
    +Insert > Date Time.+
    +At this time, its default behaviour is : insert the current date and the time 12:00:00 (without displaying the time).+
    +Given my own experience and what is often asked in Discussions forums, it would be interesting to change the default setting so that it inserts the current date & time and display both of them.+
    +Of course some users wish the availability of three items:+
    +Insert > Date defaulting to the sole date component+
    +Insert > Time defaulting to the sole time component+
    +Insert > Date & Time defaulting to the complete current dateTime.+
    +I preferred the scheme defaulting with the complete current dateTime because removing one component is faster than adding one using the existing protocol.+

    Hi Purvesh,
    Apologize for not giving the sufficient information.
    max(fcr.actual_start_date) = here I am getting date with time (for eg :9/4/2012 6:47:49 PM)
    Datatype for this column is date.
    This actual start date I am storing in varchar2 variable and then converting this value to date with time.
    My requirement is to pick the rows between the two timestamps which I am unable to do in the procedure.

    YOu are losing the Time information while fetching the data into a VARCHAR2 variable. change the datatype of v_date to DATE and get rid of the TO_DATE logic in cursor and simply use v_date variable.
